  1. LOVED when Stanley tossed Avis's martini onto his own face! The scenes with Zephyr Wright were lovely.
  2. Season 1 had 8 eps. This is Season 2, ep 7. So is there one more episode or is this the Season 2 finale?
  3. I'd bet that CBS *did* pursue Julia Child, who really DID elevate WGBH and public television.
  4. I'd forgotten how much I smile as I watch this delightful show!
  5. Not necessarily the best demeanor for a restaurant hostess though.
  6. Shandy bovinely chomping gum with her mouth open is a sign that she will either clean up her act or get fired, methinks.

I'm thinking now that in the finale, Sam confronts his father, and they end up killing each other. When Sam never returns, his mother sets Dr. Strauss free.
  8. Juneau Gal, I agree 100%. Julia Child was a remarkable woman who led a unique life. She also had a fascinating marriage to a true Renaissance man. You are correct: real life Julia would not have let Betty Friedan deign to pass judgement on her life and life's work. And I sure hope to see storylines and writing in subsequent seasons that will draw a more complete picture of JC, and to quote "Oh Yeah, from above: The real life Julia Child's life is enough.
  9. Indeed--most memorable line of this episode, and truly words to live by!
  10. Another wonderful episode, even though obviously we know The French Chef had many successful seasons. And they've set up all the principal players with potential stories for a 2nd season. It's hard to imagine "Julia" won't get renewed.
  11. This episode was simply delightful! I smiled throughout the entire time. We're getting to see different layers to the various characters. Bringing on James Beard made for a fun diversion. Is anyone else picking up some vibes between Russ and Judith?

What an absolute GEM of a show! I do hope it finds an audience. Well-cast, and well scripted. Julia and Paul really did have a remarkable life and relationship, which serve as the underpinning for what turned out to be the lynchpin show for WGBH and public television.
  13. I thought the previous seasons all dropped on the same day.
  14. They have not given us much detail about George & Bertha's past life. Hope we get a bit of background to help us understand their current behavior.
  15. Episode 2 does not air until Tuesday, Feb. 1
  16. All the office/church lackeys call Eli DOCTOR Gemstone. There is no way in his backstory he ever went to college at all let alone long enough to earn a Doctor of Divinity degree. So that “Dr.” moniker has to be a lie, like so much else about his character.
  17. HBO Max does not have this available at this time (11:10am Central Time). Perhaps it will have a set evening time when each weekly episode drops.
  18. I'm just thankful that this show has been renewed so we can get some resolution to the Dele/Tayo situation, and, of course, enjoy the wedding drama to come.
  19. Wonder whether Emily VanCamp is pregnant in real life......
  20. Actor Michael Weston seems to have a type of character he always plays—he was Nate’s nemesis on “Six Feet Under’ and a foil for House on “House”—and again plays a devious villain, Gordon Page, on “The Resident.”
  21. Every time I watch an ep. of Madam Secretary, I try to picture our current president in similar situations. Someone who doesn’t read, thinks he is smarter than everyone in the room, and takes advice from no one is NOT who anyone would want with the nuclear codes. No question the writers wanted viewers to envision such a circumstance.
  22. So is this the last season of Homeland, or are there plans for a Season 8?
  23. Considering how gossip-prone the TV/movie business is, it is curious how there has not been any substantial leak of any behind-the-scenes bad blood between JM and AP. Not just from the principals involved, but from anyone else, really, right down to crew members, etc. On the other hand, the notion that the Kings would keep JM's and AP's characters apart for so long merely to mess with their viewers is completely unbelievable. Shooting for this season is long over and AP has literally moved on. Wonder when the truth--if there is any--will come out. That said, they all did a stellar job of keeping Josh Charles's onscreen demise a secret.
  24. Season 3 is now available on Netflix, earlier than advertised! Don't know if someone messed up, but there it is.
