It's soon! From Rolling Stone - https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/ken-burns-country-music-history-doc-878470/ And there's a piece in the September Entertainment Weekly, but I can't find it online to post. I'm looking forward to this!!

I am going to have to pretend I did not read this or I will go out and buy some and eat all of it. Thanks for nothin'

If you have MLB Network, you might want to turn it on.

A lovey article about Kenan in the WaPo. https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2019/08/28/quiet-brilliance-kenan-thompson-snls-longest-tenured-cast-member/

Weather today was perfect! Game was even perfect! Players Weekend Menu item (mac & cheese and burnt ends) was pretty good. Unis - awful. Even if you could read the names on the back, you still didn't know who anyone was unless you knew the nickname. And it was quite disconcerting seeing the visiting team in all whites. I was confused...for about half an inning.

If you can go, go. Never pass up a chance to see a show you're interested in.

Looks like I forgot to mention the most fun thing - Jack White was in the house before his show down the street at The Anthem! And then I found out a more fun thing - the game went on so long, Jack came back after his show down the street at The Anthem! https://deadspin.com/surly-baseball-fan-jack-white-returned-to-watch-nationa-1837345615

So after making my brother sit through an Os game, he made me sit through a Nats game tonight (he'd never been to the park and wanted to see it - and there was a 'head giveaway tonight!). And...we almost got to sit through 2 games. Yay? Good thing I don't really care about the Nats. That game was kinda frustrating.

Saw it last week and really liked it. I especially loved seeing Andre De Shields on stage again. He was fabulous. We were also at the performance of Mockingbird that didn't quite finish because of a motorcycle backfire in Times Square. It was a bizarre and kinda scary evening. Since we missed the end of the show, I'm guessing they all lived happily ever after. Or they all died in the end. One or the other... 🙂 Honestly, the play is magnificent. I think I cried through the entire second act. I was only sorry that I didn't get to give the cast a rousing standing ovation at the end.

And here they are - your local broadcasting team rankings for 2019: https://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/your-2019-local-mlb-announcer-rankings.html#main-content At least we're in the top 5 of something. (Well, technically, we're in the top 5 of our division, but that really doesn't count).

We stayed till the not-bitter end. It was fun, then it wasn't, then it was really fun.

We've lost fewer games by more runs? Going to the game today. Because it's part of my season ticket plan. And my brother is here from Italy and hasn't been to a game in a long time, so why not make him suffer along with us?

Huh... good thing we didn't bother to haul our asses out to Not-Shea Stadium for that. 🙂

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

Damn... someone has to invent teleportation - and now! Traveling sucks. All the best to your parents!! -
Show lineup for next week: What the Constitution Means to Me on Saturday, Tootsie on Monday, Mockingbird on Tuesday, Hadestown on Thursday. Can't wait. I may let you all know what I think...I may not...

I cried when I got the alert about Hal Prince yesterday. What a brilliant life. And now, for something completely different (this makes me happy!) - Six The Musical starts previews at the Brooks Atkinson in February!!! I love this score and I don't know why because it's so not me. But I love it and can't wait to see it!!

David Aldridge, the editor of the DC edition, is a friend of mine. And as Eamonn Brennan, the reporter, said... it's summer...and slow news-wise 🙂

So hey... if anyone here subscribes to The Athletic (and really, you should because the writing is top-notch!), there's an article about me and the 'heads on the DC page.

What a spectacular season we're having!! Sigh... :)

So, for a little over 6 innings, it was looking like my decision to sell my tickets and stay inside in the a/c might have been an error. It ended up working out, though. Because even a no-hitter isn't worth sitting out in this heat... right? 😉

As they should. However, that had nothing to do with my team. 1989 was actually a surprisingly good year for us. One of the giveaways this season is a replica Why Not shirt. I still have my original.

Oh good grief. Anniversaries of 1969 AND 1979?? I didn't even think about 1979. Just kill me now...

This is a pretty good group. I'm a little too old for Sesame Street, but I totally understand how important it is. I do remember Michael Tilson Thomas taking over for Leonard Bernstein on the Young People's Concerts when I was...young. And who doesn't love Sally Field, Linda Ronstadt and EW&F. Maybe I'll try to get a ticket... maybe.

The Annual Primetime Emmys - General Discussion
ebk57 replied to susannot's topic in The Primetime Emmy Awards (Emmys)
I don't know, but if someone figures it out, maybe Andre Braugher could do it, too. So disappointing.
