  1. The show is fabulous!! I laughed pretty much non-stop until Jimmy Walker's bit. And then I laughed, just not as hard. I especially liked John Mulaney, which surprised me only because I don't know him all that well, but I thought he was really funny, and sincere. I loved Steve Martin and Jimmy Kimmel and Dave's shrink. She was a little awkward getting off stage after she was done. I wonder if that makes the broadcast. When Martin Short came on to do his song, I wondered whether he and Paul would come to blows because they had to start the song again since Martin was off the beat. Paul blames Martin. Martin blamed Paul. Then Paul just apologized and said let's start over. Since I was in the second balcony, I couldn't tell if this was all in good fun, or if they were really mad at each other. If it makes the broadcast, we'll know it was a joke... And the song was only okay. I also didn't love Bill Murray's bit as much as the newspapers did. At this point, I'm blaming the second balcony seat. I was happy about Michelle Obama's video tribute, and Eddie Vetter singing Warren Zevon made me tear up. My seat was in a good place to watch Dave and family throughout the evening. So that worked out. He was funny while shouting down to the stage a few times during the evening. When Dave took the stage, he did mention Tommy Robato (sp?) who was the kid sitting next to Harry during the last Late Show. So I'm guessing that the entourage is made up of a lot of the same kids. Also, here's a link to the local radio station coverage of the red carpet (I couldn't get close enough to actually see any of the people in the hallway... poor planning on my part, I guess). Dave mentions Harry being backstage with his cousins. There are a whole bunch of interviews in the link. It was amusing to hear the reporters ask the same question from every guest. Well, amusing for the first 3 or 4 times. Then it was annoying. https://wtop.com/entertainment/2017/10/no-joke-tv-host-letterman-honored-with-mark-twain-prize/slide/1/ After the show, I walked past Senator Franken and almost stopped to offer my appreciation of everything he's doing, but chickened out. He seemed happy to talk to anyone who wanted to chat. I took a couple of pics from my seat after the show was over, but since I was so far away, I enjoy them, but you all probably wouldn't. All in all, a fine time was had by me. I can't wait to see the broadcast and I hope I'll be able to figure out what's missing. The evening ran about 2:20, so I'm sure some of it will be cut. I do apologize for the run-on paragraph and disorganized thoughts. Writing isn't one of my strengths.

  3. That was... fabulous! I can't wait for Sunday evening!!!
  4. Kimmel in Brooklyn week! Paul is a bit manic... and a cameo by Biff!!
  5. Hi Mark. I think this is something that should fall in the Small (Coffee) Talk thread. Although if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will jump in to correct me. Welcome!

I'm sorry, but that home run was nothing like the Kirk Gibson home run in 1988. Nothing. And on a totally shallow note, I'm not really into Mr. Turner's hair. At all.

Not the only one. I can enjoy him because he's on the other side of the country playing for a team I rarely watch. So when I see him, I smile.

Wow. That was some really good luck at play in that game... (yay!)

You are not the only one. I thought maybe it was my old eyes. Now, I can tell you the number next to the Astros is 1. Yay! OMG, I'm having a Jeffrey Maier flashback nightmare...
  10. The thing that makes me nutz is when the waitron tells him they don't have tater tots, he subs in nachos. That is not a side dish!! You have to sub in fries. Not nachos!! Okay, I feel better. A little.

I believe I said it earlier in this thread... ah ye of little faith. It is the Nats, after all.

Something about your team brings out my rude... :-) That said, congrats to you and the other Yankee fans here. I will try, going forward, should your team win again, to offer a mazel tov before heartily rooting for the other team. Although, hopefully, that situation will not arise.

You could sign up for a free trial with Sirius, or the TuneIn Radio app. I have no other suggestions...sorry. Except, maybe you should just watch baseball :-)

Darn. I was hoping you were at the game, if for no other reason than you'd get to be at a post-season game. Even if it was a Nats game... Don't worry, this is not your fault. It's what the Nats do.

I was thinking about trying to score a ticket, but I'm not sure I'm up for a huge crowd at Nats Park. Hope you go - there's nothing quite as fun as post-season baseball!! If you don't, we could get drink and/or dinner (Friday, or another night if you're free and bored...)
  20. Dammit. This just made a bad day way, way, way worse...
  21. Happy to see you back @Galileo908!! Tonight's show was a big meh. Ryan breaking in every single sketch he was in was really annoying. WU was the best part of the show. I hope the new writers (and the old ones) get into the groove soon.
  22. I am so jealous!! He's not coming to my area on this tour, but I saw he was going to the Beacon in NYC on Valentine's Day...which, unfortunately, is a Wednesday. If it had been a weekend, I'd have made the trip - love the Beacon and love Robert!! Enjoy the show!!

I almost felt bad for him out there because he's so cute. Almost... I did say to my friend that if the baseball thing doesn't work out for him, he's got the TV thing to fall back on. I think he's been pretty good on the post-season shows he's done.
  24. I should ship some to you. It used to be hard to find here, and stupid expensive, but now it's here all the time. And they've started packaging it in 4-packs of 12 ounce bottles so I don't have to buy the 22 ounce bombers all the time. I love the stuff! I also love the Southern Tier Warlock - it's a pumpkin stout. Yummy!!
