Finally - our (my) long, national (sorta) nightmare it over!!!!!
  2. Hope you have a great trip. I was trying to figure where to suggest you drive around NY and the first thing I thought of was Cooperstown...since I know everyone here loves baseball so much 😄 I hope you've also booked your rental car already because I hear they're in short supply and can be expensive. Good luck and have fun!
  3. Y'all need to check out Jon now on CNN. He's performing in the concert for NYC. He looks fine... He sings good, too :)

I can go either way on this. It's nice to give the ball to a kid if you don't want it. But sometimes, you want the ball you bothered to catch, especially if it's from a favorite player, or you've had those seats forever and this is the first time a ball has come your way, or any other little thing. No need to boo someone. But it's nice to cheer someone if they want to gift it to a child. I mean unless they knocked the kid over to get it... A personal anecdote from the dreaded Yankee Stadium.... way back in some year that I've forgotten, we got seats to a playoff game, Yanks vs Indians. We were sitting way in the upper deck over right field (?), a few rows above the aisle that separates the first few rows from the (not) really cheap seats. Jim Thome hit a grand slam and a kid in the last row of the lower seats caught the ball. And everyone yelled at him to throw it back. And they kept yelling. Until the cops had to stand in the aisle behind the kid for protections. The poor kid just caught a baseball, give him a break. Some people...
  6. Wait - are you married to me? 😄 I "nap" on the couch, then get up to go to bed around 2ish. If I do go to bed at a normal time of around midnight, I still wake up sometime in the middle of the night. I'm always able to fall asleep again relatively quickly, so it's okay. I discovered this on vacation once when I had to actually go to bed with Mr. ebk since we were in one room and I didn't want to keep him up. And when I woke up, I lay there for a while before I realized this was...normal. For me, anyway.
  7. Did anyone think the hand-off exchange with Ali last night had something to do with this story? Ali just praising her and Rachel getting verklempt. I thought it was nice of him.
  8. Then we wouldn't have to see him in any future commercials. That's a win for all of us.

No. No thank you. Not a chance.

TK's alright. He had the end of the week scheduled off. At least that's what he said on his podcast. He's really careful about not getting sent on "vacation" since the Hannah Storm thing. Which is kinda too bad - at least for podcast entertainment value.
  12. If her cable is with Comcast, she might be able to get it without having to do much of anything other than learn to say "Peacock" into her remote.

I had a 1970 Dodge Dart. I used to play "Dialing for Baseball" on my way home from the theatre. One night, I even pulled in a game from Minnesota. The stations with the best signals were WABC, Radio 1000 and KMOX. And, of course, local WTOP, which I heard people could pick up in the Bahamas so they'd get to listen to the Os. Lucky them...
  14. This is the best performance of anything I ever saw on Letterman And just for good measure Steve's good. Really good.

Me too. I worked at the bank that was the original sponsor of this tournament back in the Stone Age and we had to work the week there. It was awful. I swore I'd never go again when I left the bank. Now I work in "the business" and have gotten tickets through work several times. But this year you couldn't pay me to get close to the place. I am glad he's here, though. It's good for the tournament.
  16. I'm so glad Lt Col Vindman is in studio. I wish more of the guests were in studio. The zoom-y things are mostly awful.
  17. If you have a boring black suitcase for some reason, I suggest a brightly colored luggage tag. I have a lime green tag that I use on my gray bag. Just because I like green. But it really stands out on the carousel.
  18. I thought I heard Ali say when talking about Col. Vindman being on the show Monday that "I'm looking forward to that" (paraphrased). I wondered if Ali was looking forward to watching, or if Rachel would still be off and Ali would actually be talking to him. It's B - just to let you all know.
  19. I love my SwissGear bag that I bought at Target a hundred years ago. They don't seem to carry it anymore, but Amazon has it in a few colors (not purple, though...sorry). https://www.amazon.com/SwissGear-6283202161-Sion-21-Black/dp/B014TJR53M/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=swissgear%2Bcarry%2Bon%2Bluggage&qid=1627871681&refinements=p_89%3ASwissGear&rnid=2528832011&s=apparel&sr=1-2&th=1
  20. Unfortunately, yes. Or at least they were for a moment. Link from The Guardian
  21. I'd imagine it has to do with Che's disgusting tweets about Simone Biles. Che really is garbage. I didn't really want to believe that, but it's the truth.
  22. So tonight - Thursday! - "Rachel's on vacation". No shit, Sherlock.
  23. This! I just went down a rabbit hole, first because I have no idea who that guy is. And second - those pants!!! The rabbit hole was quite amusing.
  24. Speaking as someone who worked in a Broadway-style house for a hundred years, redoing the HVAC is next to impossible. Redoing the seating and even the bathrooms would be easier. Also, Girl From the North Country is wonderful.
