I thought the school board sketch has some good to great moments. And I did think Update was good. The fact that the Star Trek sketch was subtitled "Ego Quest" made me laugh through the rest of the bit.

I hardly ever watch Yankee games, but it's what was on at the time and I was doing some work (work sucks at the moment) and heard him out of the corner of my ear answering Michael's question about his last game being tomorrow with "no, forever." So I stopped working and listened. He's such a nice guy...

That is an incredible cast! I have a friend who hates John Doyle directed shows, so I'll be interested to hear what you think. Unfortunately, this will close before I'm even contemplating traveling again. And yes, "Judy Kuhn was robbed!" As for this show, I enjoyed it a lot. I thought the last few duets were (mostly) stunning and the FLS number at the end was fun. I didn't like not being able to see the awards, but the concert was really good.

Kristen and Idina were just lovely, and I didn't even like Wicked. Audra and Stokes are always lovely, and I mostly liked Ragtime.

I didn't see the awards part, but I read they opened with "You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray. The opening of the concert part was Leslie Odom Jr singing and dancing his way into the theatre from the street. It was fun.

It is live on my TV now, but when you get to see it, it will be recorded. At least I don't think they'll do it again live. And really, it's lovely, but it's a variety show, so not live should be just as enjoyable.

Agree. I'm pretty sure it will be shown in its entirety since that's what they always do during football season. And the Tonys have never had to deal with this because they usually happen in June. Hopefully, this won't ever be the case again. The show is pretty good so far.

The headline made me laugh I don't necessarily agree with the premise, or all of the details. But it was correct in that most of the "comedy" bits were not good. Source - The Week Magazine, no paywall - in case that matters.

I love Jon Batiste as much as the next person (okay - more than the next person), but we really didn't need to see him and Leon during the segment. Especially because it made it so difficult to see the people they were paying tribute to.
