The Annual Academy Awards - General Discussion

I'm happy and impressed she's wearing a mask! She's doing A Doll's House on Broadway now and I'm sure doesn't want to miss any performances. -

Honestly, she's the best and has a great sense of humor. She was on NPR's Wait Wait Don't Tell me last weekend and was incredibly charming and funny. -

Also from the NYT about 20 minutes ago: Reggie Ugwu By my count, 13 out of 23 awards have now been handed out, which means — two hours in — we’re a little over halfway through. We'll be here until tomorrow. -

From Wesley Morris in the NYT - this is how I feel about the song: With her makeup wiped off, Lady Gaga is now Glenn Close in the last shot of “Dangerous Liaisons.” And she’s benchpressing the blues out in this otherwise underwhelming song. -

This. I'm not sure what I think of the song, but she's an amazing talent. -

I was checking out the LA Times (since I have a gift sub), but the NYT commentary is better. -

I'd rather see 100 trailers for Little Mermaid than listen to either of the nominated songs so far. And I love David Byrne. I can only hope the others are ... better. -

I believe my TV feed is about 30 second behind all of you. Which is weirding me out. Good thing I have wine. -
Who wants to get me that sweet Mr. Met as Indiana Jones bobblehead??

S48.E14: Travis Kelce / Kelsea Ballerini
ebk57 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Saturday Night Live
This pretty much sums it up for me. I thought Travis was really good and seemed into everything. And the show was...fine. Nothing fabulous, but nothing awful either. So that's good, right? -
Matthew Rhys makes everything better

That was hilarious and horrifying at the same time. As were both the Huckabee show and the main AI story.

S48.E13: Woody Harrelson / Jack White
ebk57 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Saturday Night Live
I love Jack White. I also loved Please Don't Destroy, the fabulous gym sketch and the Cologuard commercial. And, of course, the 2 (ugh...2) in memoriam bumper cards. Otherwise...eh. Mr. ebk was wondering why Scarlett didn't show up more often. I don't wonder at all... -

The bumper card for Eugene Lee was lovely. -

I am mostly here for Jack White, who is much taller than I thought he was. -
Alex Witt is in that timeslot now (also on Saturday).

Ah... I don't check out the network websites often, but I have the TV on all the time and I've been keenly aware of the situation since it happened. I'm glad the local news is covering it well, and I'm also really glad that John gave it attention last night.
-
I don't know when you're watching CNN and MSNBC, but it's certainly being reported while I'm watching.
-
I love that you just called Pat Collins a Beat Poet news guy! I'm so proud glad (?) John didn't forget him from earlier this season, now that he has retired. I watched the send-off shows (yeah, they had to fete him on the 5, 6 and 11 pm news programs) and they were...painful. Hope he enjoys his retirement. Nice to have John back!!
-
Wow - how did that happen??!!

The line about never winning made it. It was going great until the end, which I found odd, like they didn't know how to end it.

Chili-mac and cornbread here. And red wine. Then, more red wine. Possibly ice cream at halftime.

Doug Williams has been a busy man this week. Good for him!
