  1. Loved the open. Thought Update was great. There was a line in the old Broadway performers sketch about Gershwin being the Cole Porter of...something... which made me laugh (being a huge fan of both composers). Otherwise, the show was...okay. Oh, I did think that KMK was really charming, funny and into everything he did. The show needs new writers, though. Desperately.
  2. Thanks for this. I did see this when it came out. As I recall, it wasn't all that good... I also have the book. I haven't opened it yet, but really, I've only had it for about 15 years now, so give me a little more time... 😄
  3. It's a great song. I hope you found the video of Astaire and Rogers from "Follow the Fleet". It's spectacular.
  4. I loved that show. And I loved everything I ever saw him in. I'm way sadder about this that I thought I'd be.
  5. I also love Leslie Jones! And Uzo and Craig. And the Tidy Liza Minnelli.
  6. Thanks. I'll look that up!
  7. I learned so much about Carson that I didn't know. And I'm old! For some reason, I was under the impression he was more conservative, but then I guess it wouldn't make sense that Dave would have revered him so. I'm quite happy to find out I was mistaken. And I really want to watch Soul! I'd say I can't believe I missed it back in the day, but I was a young teen and not at all interested in that sort of stuff. But now - I want to watch!! Also interesting to me about the origins of SNL. I'm not sure I knew all the behind-the-scenes machinations there. I'm really liking this series so far. And looking forward to next week and Dave!!
  8. Murder Durder - fabulous Update - pretty good Opening - lovely, as were the goodbyes with all the moms One line in the last sketch - something about a self-driving horse being just a horse - made me laugh. If only it had been delivered with a tiny bit of timing... And, I admit it, I like Miley. Otherwise... I thought it was pretty not good.
  9. The Mare of Eastown parody was hilarious and spot-on.
  10. That was exactly what Mr. ebk said about Miley opening the show. The whole thing was lovely. The monologue wasn't good, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. His mom, though, was pretty bad.

Look at that - John Means just threw a no-hitter. Who woulda thought that could happen this season.
  12. If you didn't catch it tonight, I highly recommend the CNN series The Story of Late Night. It's 6 episodes, with tonight's being the beginning of the late night talk show. It was fascinating and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series. I'm old, but I truly thought that Letterman had "invented" lowering himself into vats of...stuff...but no - it was Steve Allen. It seems Steve Allen invented everything. Stephen will be featured, along with just about every talk show host in history. Really enjoyed the show.
  13. Thanks for reminding me that I need to watch the Cordon segment.
  14. I use something heavy (a knife handle, serving fork...) and smack the lid all the way around and it opens easily afterward. For anyone coming in at the top of the page, I'm talking about smacking the lid on a jar to help open it. Not smacking anything else...really...
  15. It's in the Ed Sullivan office building. I think I read somewhere that it used to be a storage closet, but was "renovated" for this. I also think that Stephen said he didn't want to go into an empty theatre because it's so big and would be too depressing. Or something like that. Those 2 things are off the top of my addled head, so they may be true, or I may have just dreamed them... The theatre is big, and very beautiful. I hope they can get back in soon with a proper audience.

No!!!! If they stop it after 12, how would be get John Denver again for the 14th inning stretch??? I hate the guy on second. So there.
  17. I love "Mr. Sandman" and especially enjoyed Stephen doing busy-work behind it. The entire monologue was on fire!
  18. I just watched a Washington Post Live with Jon. He's amazing. If I ever again say I couldn't love him more, remind me that I'm wrong. I'll post the YouTube as soon as the Post posts it! Actually, you can watch it on the Post site, although I can't say whether it counts as one of your articles if you're not a subscriber. I'll still post the YT link when it appears. Enjoy! https://www.washingtonpost.com/washington-post-live/2021/04/27/race-america-giving-voice-with-jon-batiste/
  19. Two quotes from the NYT live feed that made me laugh: There’s a reason why they call it a Hollywood ending. This wasn’t one of those. That was the “Game of Thrones” of Oscar endings.
  20. I'm glad I got to spend this weird - really weird - evening with everyone here. Certainly made it more fun. Till the next one, whatever it is ... not the Tonys, maybe the Kennedy Center Honors?
