  1. I think she's just been waiting for the opportunity to use her oh-so-clever B Strong. Get it? B?=be=my initial, everyone!! Woot! From @shirazplease's link: 'Still, Frankel is interested in expanding her family. Just last month the reality star offered to adopt a 5-year-old who was abandoned at NYC's Port Authority bus station and says more children are "not out of the question."' Wonder if she knows what an "opportunist" is. She'd look better with a couple few more pounds. Gaunt is not a good look. A little weight might fill some of her lines/wrinkles.
  2. Is this even possible? He divested all of his stocks in June? And it's finally "news" in December?
  3. Stephanie Ruhle just had Jim Cramer on to discuss the Carrier/UT quid pro quo deal their CEO just exposed. And not one word about Trump owning stock in United Technologies ! And what the fuck with AirForceOne? Is he trying to put people out of work ? David Corn just pointed out that by pissing off China (Taiwan issue) he might also be screwing with a large order the Chinese have with Boeing.
  4. The Kennedy Center Honors usually (always?) airs the Tuesday after Christmas. And it's usually really good and quite moving. This year that's Tuesday, December 27 at 9:00 pm est on CBS.
  5. Might be time to get on the phones: 'The new group is expected to focus especially on 10 vulnerable Democratic senators who represent states that Trump won: Sens. Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.) and Joe Manchin III (W. Va.), who are reportedly under consideration for Trump administration positions; Joe Donnelly (Ind.), who hails from Vice President-elect Mike Pence's home state; and Sens. Bill Nelson (Fla.), Robert P. Casey Jr. (Pa.), Claire McCaskill (Mo.), Jon Tester (Mont.), Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), Sherrod Brown (Ohio) and Debbie Stabenow (Mich.). Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), whose state voted for Hillary Clinton, is also seen as a potentially persuadable Democrat given her publicly stated desire to seek bipartisan compromises. The Trump group could potentially target each senator by mobilizing followers to call their offices or target the lawmakers on Twitter, Facebook and other social-media platforms. Hand-picked leaders in each of the counties Trump won across the country could also apply more direct pressure by calling state or district offices.' Bastards.
  6. But but but, they replaced it with another hour of Hardball ? I saw her this morning on CBS This Morning along with Gayle King, Norah O'Donnell and Charlie Rose. It's a decent rather low-key show. Sometimes almost too low-key. But it's not as frenetic as most.
  7. I haven't viewed the entire episode but agree. I was so touched by their pregnancy/birth plight. They both seemed so real and it was such a private time to allow us a peek. And though the HoWife behavior bar is pretty low Marissa does rise way above. I'm sorry about the Dog places. That intial press pic of her smile being a hotdog was really cute. And I think CarolineS and other HWs made tacky jokes about that. Cem seems wonderful. I misted up when he did the pre-hospital video. Sweet. CarolineF is just too ditzy. Seems an act and I want to like her but it's been a real eyeroller. Julie needs meds. Or something. Such desperation! And poor Luke. Surprised he signed back on. Hangover IVs. Really? Really!?!?! Wow. "My name is Caroline and I'm ..." And what a cavalier attitude towards her GiftLibrary now unemployed crew.
  8. Will there be adult beverages? Maybe I'll start smoking again.
  9. I guess I spent too much time watching MSNBC evenings and have missed Van Jones. But not tomorrow night! He's hosting a Messy Truth live tomorrow, Tuesday Dec. 6 at 9pm est. 'One month after election night, Van Jones will explore how voters are feeling about the unprecedented election of Donald Trump. The program will include Van’s conversations with Americans from across the political spectrum and special guests including former presidential candidate Rick Santorum, documentary film maker Michael Moore, and CNN Political Commentator and republican strategist Ana Navarro. During the one-hour live special, Jones and the special guests will take questions from a live studio audience at the Time Warner Center in New York. The program will also feature Van’s interviews with Trump supporters in Ohio, where he traveled earlier this week. '
  10. I wish we could make the media et al stop using "alt-right" and call them what they are. I prefer the term "white supremacists". edit to add puctuation so it doesn't read like i prefer white supremacists. oops.
  11. "I prefer to not talk about politics and religion." I know, I know. Outnumbered. I'm so sorry for you. Any chance they're starting to show buyer's remorse? They must realize he wants to cut gov't. spending/jobs. Maybe be prepared to speak of what a Tubby presidency might mean to your personal life. Gay family/neighbors. Elders on Medicare. Someone found a good job. Someone's life was changed by job-changing training. Report back here whenever necessary for support and succor. I haven't had any in-your-face-gloating and have been very surprised. The only gloater was a Cuban immigrant. Yup. It's a topsy-turvy world. Fam is solid not-Trump but I'm sure we'll find other holiday tensions. But normal ones.
  12. Thanks, all, for the TJ info. Especially @spiderpig's that they're good for two-person households. I haven't been in one in years and have always pictured a "serves 4-6" scenario. I don't have one nearby but there is one I can route-around to. Agree with @wings707. I've lived in Florida for decades and am amazed to get so-so seafood. We ship it all north? Dunno. Makes no sense.
  13. I've noticed more of their locations now offer the Ringleader and it's smaller cousin the Meal Wheel, and lots of other prepared deli-platters, in their Deli cases around the holidays and sports events. I usually order just to be sure but grabbed one out of the case for our T-Day. They had mini-croissants with horseradish london broil and some beautiful cheese platters with chunks of brie and fruit and lots of other yummy looking things. I love Publix. But there are two semi-distant TraderJoes that could become convenient for the holidays. Two, off and on, weeks with the fam and would be nice to ease kitchen frustrations. And my sister knows her way around a Trader Joe's.
  14. Wow. That's like, Would you rather be shot or hanged ? I guess LePen manages to keep her holocaust denials to herself, assuming the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. PoliticoEU has a pie-in-the-sky LePen-loses scenario. Anything hopeful in Italy?
  15. That's one way to get a drink of water. Awww...
  16. I dunno. I can't tell, but, does Bella have her hand raised? lol Seems pretty catty to me. I took it the same way @Kokapetl did. A Bella-shot.
  17. He's also stepping down from the board of CIT. 'In 2008, CIT became a bank holding company in order to qualify for, and ultimately receive $2.3 billion in Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) funds. On July 13, 2009, Bloomberg TV reported that CIT was asking for Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation loan guarantees. On July 15, 2009, the common stock of CIT was halted on the New York Stock Exchangeduring trading hours with "News Pending". At 6:03 pm a press release was issued on the company's website stating that talks of a government bailout were unlikely. The company had been advised that there was "no appreciable likelihood of additional government support being provided over the near term."[19] CIT announced that it believed it was unlikely that it would receive further funding from the federal government, and CIT Group came very close to declaring bankruptcy.[20][21][22] It was rescued in a US$3 billion deal on July 19, 2009, via an agreement with the bondholders group, which included Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) and some other top CIT holders.[23] CIT said it planned a comprehensive restructuring of its liabilities.[24] On September 30, 2009, in its continuing struggle to avoid bankruptcy, CIT Group was reported to be in negotiations with Citigroup Inc., Barclays Capital, and its bondholders to secure rescue financing to comply with its filing to find a plan “acceptable” to the majority of a bondholder steering committee that provided it with the emergency cash by Oct. 1.[25]' Tubby sure knows how to pick 'em.
  18. Some Good News from Spain. 'Ever since Franco’s rule ended in nearly 40 years ago, the Spanish government only enforced a law promising to rededicate all public spaces named after autocratic heritage in 2007. The problem is only just now being addressed because of the change in municipal politics since the 2015 elections. Several cities such as Bilbao, Oviedo, and Càdiz plan on correcting the imbalance by renaming 80% of their streets with civil rights activists, physicists, artists, novelists, famous journalists, and revolutionaries during Franco’s regime. Some roads will ever honor international women of talent and inspiration, such as Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks, and Jane Austen.'
  19. And look who was on the Sears board right before the, probable, takedown. Steve Mnuchin. Good job, Steven!
  20. Still France and Italy to watch. Maybe Austria's outcome will carry forward.
  21. My point was that I will not read an opinion that begins with an insult. 'What too many of these uneducated and unshowered drum circlers don’t know, or don’t care to know, is the popular vote is a meaningless unit of measure. '
  22. In 2012 NPR reported on a Poynter Institute survey showing the best and worst informed about current events. Upshot is people who watched no news at all were better informed than Fox-watchers. Daily Show watchers were second best informed. I wish they'd do it again!
