  1. The Repugs should love her plan. Only 6 weeks of parental leave as opposed to the 12 weeks already afforded Federal employees. You go girl!
  2. Wow. The "adult" media won't do the job but Teen Vogue does? And doing a, dare I say, better freaking job. 'The "alt-right" is known for its extremist and racist views, as well as being severely anti-Semitic. It seems like the association between the Trump campaign and neo-Nazis won't be broken any time soon, as his chosen national security advisor, General Mike Flynn, recently met with Heinz-Christian Strache — the head of Austria’s far-right Freedom Party, which was established by former Nazis after World War II.' The body of the the linked article supplies many links. At least someone is doing something and hopefully "kids" will at least heed the alarm. We need them educated about this menace and I'm sure not all parents are able to nor want to nor think it needs doing.
  3. Alert the media! Bethy, call your lawyers! Kelly Dodd is drinking and shilling a beverage called "Skinny"! 'Sipping on my @teamiblendsSkinny tea as usual. I'm bikini body ready if I do say so myself ? you can try it, and get some for a friend! Use DODD50 for 50% off $94 and free two-day shipping all week! #thankyouteami"'
  4. Smoke and mirrors and sleight of hand. Keep your eye on the ball, if you can.
  5. And that's what it almost always boils down to. Git 'er! At any cost.
  6. WSJ has an interesting perspective on Russian-hacking and Trump. 'Why a Russian Hacking Inquiry Is in Donald Trump’s Best Interests' 'At the same time, four influential senators—including two Republicans, John McCain and Lindsey Graham—sent a letter to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell calling for the formation of a temporary select committee to explore the Russian hacking allegations. As that suggests, the question now isn’t whether Congress will have a serious look, but how. Mr. McConnell set out last week to launch an investigation that would be contained within the congressional intelligence committees—panels that operate largely in secret. The move to create a different, select panel to handle the inquiry is, among other things, a step to bring any inquiry fuller into public view.' At this point, I'll take it. Baby steps are better than no steps. imho
  7. Gah! Would they please please please stop dissecting the election and start talking about NOW!! Mika doesn't seem to have the Joe-adoration-gaze she once had. They're starting to look and sound like a tired old married couple.
  8. Oh, Breezy. My heart aches. So so sorry for your loss. A good cry can help. So sad.
  9. Bloomberg reports : 'As Trump Tweets, China Quietly Weighs Options to Retaliate “China has so far practiced restraint at Trump’s provocations as he’s yet to enter the White House,” the Global Times said. “But this attitude won’t last too long after he officially becomes the U.S. president, were he still to treat China in the manner he tweeted today.”' Good thing Tubby told them they could have that drone! Meanwhile, over on Fox they attempt to make their viewers concerned that Trump might not win! 'Trump almost certain to win Electoral College vote, but nothing's sure in 2016 elections The Electoral College is expected Monday to select Donald Trump as the next president of the United States, despite efforts to disrupt the 227-year-old process that so far appears to have resulted in just one openly rogue voter. Still, Democrats and Republicans on Sunday spoke with some uncertainty about the anticipated outcome." FOX viewers now have even more to be both upset and happy with their new overlord. Nice way to manipulate. ::eyeroll::
  10. She's still plugging her book Sleep Revolution? I heard her plug that on NPR last April, I think. I thought it odd that she didn't discuss politics then!
  11. I kind of like that he's able to show his ass to all so regularly. I wish he could not correct nor delete.
  12. It made complete sense. I share so many of those emotions as I'm sure many here share. The mental hurt approaches physical. Got home after a horrible 1+ hour drive home from work and asked my husband if he'd move to California. "Expensive", was his first word. Followed by, "Not too far north." Doubt we'll move but it was a nice moment. I've taken much comfort from the Soft Kitty thread. It's like yoga for the brain.
  13. Unfortunately, this isn't a direct (pure) democracy but rather a representative democracy. edit to include slf quote. missed page jump.
  14. And you can thank Dallas Woodhouse for the sorry state of democracy in NC. 'Well, you have to give him this: Dallas Woodhouse, executive director of the North Carolina Republican Party, didn’t try to be clever or subtle when he sent an email to GOP members of county boards of elections and other party members last weekend. No, he basically instructed those board members to use their majorities to curb early voting, keep polling sites closed on Sundays, close college campus voting sites and in general, to, as he put it, “make party line changes to early voting.” I listened to this asshole jerk for what felt like hours yesterday but was probably just minutes. Woodhouse was defending the NC coup. Chuck Todd had him on MTP last night and Todd did a heckuva job trying to pin this guy down on the recent NC shenanigans. "Dems are just crying crocodile tears." And the old, "They did it too!" argument. I have to give Chuck an A for effort. But it's hard to pin slime down. He is a lying hypocrite of the worst order. And, from the shallow end, he has another smary, condescending southern accent. Blech. He has a liberal brother who called him a racist when the (above quoted) article came out.
  15. It can practically be narrowed down to Leviticusites. @AntiBeeSpray, Can we request that our quoted posts not be changed?
  16. Having to ponder a Trump Library (gack!) this is pretty much what I'm picturing.
  17. If you can supply a service-provider account Lifetime offers episodes on its app. They sometimes pull episodes but this week's should still be available.
  18. I've been using "Christian Sharia". But there are probably trumpers out there who either think it's a good thing or that someone spelled "Shari" wrong.
  19. I don't think even TLC would consider picking up this mess. And they're the royalty of trashtacky teevee. And I'm not sure that pro-posed makes it all any less squicky. Who thought it was a good idea in the first place? I bet a fly on the wall would have caught some good Donald-sexisms.
  20. "Useful idiot" works for me. But I would love to see a "Trump Caves!" headline. I don't think he gets it. He has managed to get 30% of these useful idiots : 'A new poll found that many Americans—including 30% of Republican primary voters—say they would bomb the fictional country from Disney’s Aladdin, but the poll should be trusted about as much as the movie’s villainous vizier Jafar. (It was fun while it lasted) to also support Putin. 'While the Russian president still has a net un-favorability rating among Republicans, his standing has improved dramatically – from a net negative of 66 points to a mere 10 points. By comparison, only 17 percent of Republicans have a favorable view of President Barack Obama, the December poll found. Obama’s net negative among Republicans is 64 points – significantly worse than the party’s take on Putin. I find it difficult to not sometimes use what others might call disparaging terms aimed at Trump et aI and understand the minefield but I also know that one of the reasons I like this board is that I feel free to vent. We have myriad Trumpisms. Also, I would appreciate, if when quoted, my posts remain mine. I have seen namechange edits w/o attribution and I would prefer that not happening.
  21. Al's just too much. To on. Too too. I haven't seen the Chicago guy but can't imagine one person could send me back to Today. The talkover, the orange. The banalties. I don't care if my "news"people are friends, simple courtesy works. Imho they need a major retrofit. CBS This Morning seems to keep getting a little smarter.
  22. Are those apples? A chicken? Strawberries? Maybe she's channeling her inner Holly Hobbie. Didn't she wear something equally whickety-wack earlier? I think I have to blame at least some of this week's Michael's challenge on time constraints. 6 weeks? Though that does not excuse, "I don't have one dress made" Erin. These people don't have much to attempt to improve on. It hurts to imagine the clothes of past winners (thanks all for the upthread memories of lovely) alongside any of these. Hurts my head.
