  1. I don't know if that's called his "signature" line under his name but "don't think twice it's alright" is not reassuring. And the (Neiman?) "artwork" on his "Music" page is embarrassing. Lilly-garbed Mika chasing Joe through the Nantucket dunes? Spare me. 'Daily News: Joe Scarborough, anchor by day, rocker by night Joe Scarborough’s tie is gone, his shirt’s unbuttoned and there’s a guitar slung over his shoulder. By day, the cable news and talk radio host and Republican former Congressman co-hosts MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” But this is Nighttime Joe — and he’s rocking. “It’s dangerous for a Republican to be out on the Upper West Side,” Scarborough jokes from the small stage at Prohibition, a bar and restaurant on Columbus Ave. near 84th St." gag
  2. I did that last night! And it was delish. First time I used a slow cooker and first time I did navy beans so was thrilled with the ease and the success. Yellow onion, bay leaf, carrots, Better Than Bouillon organic chicken base and the meaty bone. Them beans are tough little buggers but worth the (10+ hrs.) time.
  3. Oh no! Now I feel even guiltier thinking I need to see Matt&Katie Redux. Once. Savannah can't be worrying about her job. Can she? I'm not in touch but thought she'd be one of the safe ones.
  4. Okay. I thought that maybe I could better tolerate MJ as background noise while I assembled a slowcooker meal. I made it throught the info about the phone calls that laid to rest the new not-ethics panel though wondered, Wasn't any of this info available yesterday morning. Joe's not that in the loop? It was almost possible to keep on until our oh-great-seer Joe decided to verbally power-point what the Dems did wrong. I made it until his Bam!Bam!Bam!Bam!Bam! (complete with pointy finger) followed by his ridiculously smug expression accented by his Where'sWaldo hair and glasses. I'm Out!
  5. If they're also responsible for the demise of the once fun and oddly captivating Great Food Truck Race, a double pox on their house!
  6. I'm not sure I agree with this. Kelly didn't have any previous problems putting people in their place. She was plenty confident to do this to our little Bethy: a previous season. And I can't resist this jog down memory lane:
  7. And he just let Spicer slide on his talking point that the main info to be gleaned from the hacking reports is that the Dems need to do a better job protecting their passwords and clicking on bad links. And Joe stammers while that Spicer creep is going on about the China-hack private-sector hack being worse than the Russia hack. No mention of democracy in danger! bedebedebede
  8. While I have nothing concrete to offer right here right now, this thread has, in the past, offered contact info and even scripts for the phone calls and letters. This holiday season has whupped my already very tired (post election) ass, and I'm sure I'm not alone, and what you suggest and request is vitally important. I love the scripts. I have a tendency to babble in an attempt to fill dead air. It seems such an uphill battle. I feel so defeated when I hear about the Donna Brazile kumbaya effort and the WSJ thinking that fact-checking is perceived as opinions etc. etc. etc.
  9. And I really don't understand why the practice of padding votes for Trump was not better exposed. And really not at all questioned. Just a ,"HoHum, nothing to see here" kind of response. Those responsible should have been exposed and, dare I say, prosecuted for tampering with a Federal election. 'Donald Trump’s margin of victory in Wisconsin appears to be shrinking even before the state’s recount gets underway, according to a new report that cites a number of precincts padding the vote count in Trump’s favor. According to the Palmer Report, some precincts realized the numbers were padded to benefit Trump and had to revise their numbers. As a result, 5,000 votes were essentially wiped out of Trump’s column in an instant. What’s particularly puzzling, the report noted, is that Clinton’s numbers remained virtually unchanged, despite Trump losing thousands of votes from his total.' I don't care that those votes might not have changed the results. It's just WRONG!! And it didn't just happen in Wisconsin. What's going to happen in 2018? This whole thing just exhausts me.
  10. Nicholas Kristof 's NYTimes column yesterday is interesting. 'Lessons From the Media’s Failures in Its Year With Trump' It's not a bunch of talking heads sitting around chortling over their perceived dilemma but has some actual info. I wish someone would call Moonves to task for: 'As Leslie Moonves, the CBS president, said in February about Trump’s run: “It may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS.”' What a disgusting take. From a disgusting man. Perhaps my favorite bit of Kristof's: 'We will soon have as commander in chief the most evasive, ignorant and puerile national politician I’ve ever met, and while there are many factors behind his election, I think we in the media contributed by skimping on due diligence.' But that ^ might be too kind. Overall, imho, a good overview of failures and possible solutions.
  11. Regarding the education standards, we can't forget that no matter where you live the great state of Texas decided on what's in most of the textbooks used nationally. As a for instance: 'In 2009 Dr. McLeroy and his like minded colleagues on the Board were successful in requiring Texas science text books to address the “strengths and weaknesses” of scientific theories such as evolution. In a January 2010 interview with Mariah Blake of the Washington Monthly discussing that issue, Dr.McLeroy said of the Board’s decision: “Wooey. We won the Grand Slam, and the Super Bowl.. .. Our science standards are light years ahead of any other state when it comes to challenging evolution.”'
  12. I just hope that all of the entertainers and artists who have rejected inaug. invites will do more than take out full page ads condemning his actions. Unfortunately their voices are frequently dismissed as elitist or out-of-touch. We need Pete Seegers et al. RIP
  13. And last night he was saying words to the effect, If you want to send a message and you want it secure, write it on a piece of paper, put it in an envelope and send it. That's the only secure way. I think I read he first used a computer in 2007.
  14. I listened to one more election post -mortem this morning and a couple of "journalists" were discussing this. As an example they used the weekend that the TrumpYou fraud suit was in the news. They were focused on that and Trump tweeted about the Pence/Hamilton issue which they clearly said they recognized as a diversion. BUT they then actually asked, Which should we report? I'm all, Are you kidding me? You recognize a diversionary tactic but but but ... Apparently he has also "Instagrammed" his crap. They reported it. We're doomed.
  15. Maybe you start on them like a cone and finish with a spoon? They look potentially messy but intriguingly yummy. I'm used to seeing those big drippy things that look partially melted. I feel like I get some on me just looking at them.
  16. Sorry and, Thanks! It will be even easier to fix my link because I still have it open in my browser. lol Yum.
  17. That must have been right before he said he didn't blame DonnyBoy for not speaking to certain media outlets. Especially the biased NYTimes who were undermining his campaign all last year with their slanted reporting. And no one pointed out the FOX bias! So, BennyBoy thinks it's aok to speak only to friendly outlets. I was in my car and heard the name "Ben" and wondered who that asshole was. No southern accent so he was't one of my usual suspects. and dumdum's recent tweets? #treasonoustraitor
  18. Charleston's Olde Colony Bakery has become a holiday tradition. I brought home a package of their Benne Wafers after a Charleston visit a number of years ago and now require their treats every Christmas. A tin of their Benne Wafers is my go-to for easy gift giving year round though every item I've tried has been good. My faves are the Bennes, the Gingers, and the Pecan Pinches.
  19. I meant that she could choose her guests. I would guess that Bravo would have insisted on more HOs.
  20. So I guess People will have more info. From 8:30 this morning. (Dec. 31) Odd that she'd ice out Bravo. But it does better protect her guest list.
  21. The Boston Globe reports on Erin's win. Complete with Pix! The "selfie" is super precious. 'Inside the restaurant lounge, Robertson – who was decked out in a dress that matched the balloons – was glowing. “What I love is fun,” she said. “I’m always trying to be fun, fun, fun.” In fact, Robertson loves fun so much that she presented her final collection on the Lifetime fashion competition as “Project Funway."' 'Designer and “Runway” judge Zac Posen lauded the winner: Robertson “is humor and she is craft. To me, she’s the full package.”' Hmm. Humor + Craft = Full Package? No talent necessary! Another Boston Globe lovefest. 'Robertson told Entertainment Weekly that she’s still considering her next steps, but that she does have big plans. “I want to work on commissions and one-of-a-kind pieces of clothing,” she said.' No problemo! Easier to find one willing buyer than a hundred.
  22. And, imho, they looked like complete idiots. Sitting there in their jammies delivering "Breaking News". Oh, and, "Breaking News" that only they had because they're so far up Trump's butt. "Mika? It's me, try to make what I tell you sound better, 'kay?" Hard enough to take them seriously when they're sitting there in their khakis and fleece. Jammies? pfft.
  23. We kept these: in the rental's freezer. Perfect size for "just a bite or two". Dove also delivers delish small ice cream treats though I wish they still did the cherry ones. I pretty much can't be trusted with tubs of frozen creamy goodness but seem to be able to portion-control these.
