  1. Late to the turkey quest but my dear departed uncle roasted it breast-side down. It was always juicy and tender. I can't remember the last time I did the honors. I like dark meat so really appreciate the easy accessibility of turkey legs and thighs. I love turkey! And thanks all for celiac/gluten info. Not intolerant myself but a gluten-free co-worker brings me a muffin (usually banana or zucchini) almost daily and I have been trying to think of an appropriate thank-you/Christmas gift.
  2. Lura, I am going to have to take your approach to Blais-viewing. I had forgotten that horribly awkward scene with his wife (maybe it's because of that I assumed he was divorced) and your thoughts make sense. He has had a lot of emotion thrown at him in a relatively short span of time. Made me think about why Richard is his own worst enemy and maybe it's because he feels the need to just try try try too hard. His critiques and THs can be so stilted that I just cringe. Of course, I have no idea if this Blais-empathy will last but I appreciate the overview. Bastet: X=10? I dunno. I just learned that not only is there a clipboard feature but there was also no reason for me to just plain give up when, I thought, the board ate my almost-post.
  3. DOOL=Days of our Lives I have always liked her. She seems authentic and like she would be a lot of fun. I didn't know she and Harry had a show. He seems pretty neat, too. I need to get caught up with this crew!
  4. Me three! Not only is PH alive and well but it looks like they also own that Buca chain that was recently featured on this show. http://www.planethollywoodintl.com Who knew? (Tried to BBCode text into above link but BB doesn't seem to like iOS.)
  5. I believe the tugboat story. While there are very few single-boat companies they do still exist and those are usually family-type operations. I know more than one person raised on a tugboat and numerous others raised on boats and usually home-schooled. Most tugboats are operational, and, except for harbor tugs, are fully staffed, with a liveaboard crew, 24/7/52. They are not necessarily unsuitable for children, though recent regulations and insurance considerations might make their presence more problematic. Kenley really got on my nerves. The voice, the attitude, the everything.... I didn't like the tugboat back story because I thought she an unworthy representative. I recently watched parts of Season 6 (the library had it) and what a difference from a Bravo show! It seems like Lifetime production values barely exist. And the time frames are all out of whack. They just don't give the participants enough time, whether it's for a single challenge or the Fashion Week finale. We do not get to see as thoughtful or finely-finished garments as before.
  6. I wish I had an easier possible solution, but, I usually find my narrow bookcases in antique and thrift stores. The ones I find are good solid wood but, because of their 8" depth, they usually don't stand very tall and are normally 22" to 24" wide. The tallest one I have found is 48" while most top out at 36". I like each/both/all-of-the-above reading options. I do like the Kindle's x-ray and search features. I sometimes have a, Now who is this?, moment while reading densely populated mysteries and generational sagas and I don't miss paging back and forth to find that missing brain cell. I will, however, always prefer real deal paper for my reading pleasure. I love the feel, the smell, the weight, the artwork, and just about everything about a book. I even like that someone took the time to explain a font to me! Gimme!
  7. Glad I wasn't the only one kinda' confused by the Sudden Death result. I thought I had finally learned a few names and then... Is that the same chef? Huh? What's she still doing here? I couldn't bring myself to give that whole asshatted mess another viewing. So, thanks for the clarification. I did, however, reverse my viewing briefly to check out Aaron's comment that he ended up with the dreaded monkfish cheeks because Adam had grabbed the yellowtail right out of his, Aaron's, hands. Maybe I also needed to slow it down, but, I did not see Adam grab anything out of Aaron's hands. And, that soup, Ron, it just looked awful. That big, smooshed, baseball lump, that sad, soggy popcorn, that puddle of congealed soup/liquid, it was just wrong. So far I'm kind of meh on this season but would love to see the Chefs in the Minneapple!
