Donald John Trump: 2016 President-Elect
NewDigs replied to Notwisconsin's topic in Current Events & Politics
Well well well. On November 16, while Twitler was still celebrating his upcoming coronation, Jared Kushner was at The Waldorf sharing $2,100 bottles of Château Lafite Rothschild with: 'Wu Xiaohui, the chairman of the Waldorf’s owner, Anbang Insurance Group, a Chinese financial behemoth with estimated assets of $285 billion and an ownership structure shrouded in mystery.' 'Mr. Wu and Mr. Kushner — who is married to Mr. Trump’s daughter Ivanka and is one of his closest advisers — were nearing agreement on a joint in Manhattan: the redevelopment of 666 Fifth Avenue, the fading crown jewel of the Kushner family real-estate empire. Anbang, which has close ties to the Chinese state, has seen its aggressive efforts to buy up hotels in the United States slowed amid concerns raised by Obama administration officials who review foreign investments for national security risk. Now, according to two people with knowledge of the get-together, Mr. Wu toasted Mr. Trump and declared his desire to meet the president-elect, whose ascension, he was sure, would be good for global business.' How very fitting that the building's address is "666". ETA link.- 8.1k replies

BBCode went bbad. Will try again. -
I figured they have quite a bit in-the-can and will continue to use what they have. It's kind of a reality-show thing. RealityTeeVee vs reality in real time. I've noticed same with HO-shows. Though nothing this dramatic! I was surprised to see their troubles splashed all over the grocery checkout tabloids and magazines. And I saw an item on at least one of the Access/ET type shows. I had underestimated their popularity.

They were my go-to but it's MorningJoe for my work drive. I started switching to CNN because of MJ and have found them to be some better. Especially at challenging surrogates, or whatever those people are now calling themselves. MTP is not too bad and even RevAl Sunday mornings can be good.

How much time do we have? ::sob:: I was hoping some of you fine folks might offer opinions on any favorite Sirius talk/news stations. MSNBC and CNN will cause an accident. Or a brain hemorrhage. Or both. My local NPR is really good for current events but the nat'l. NPR on Sirius is not. imho (sad)

Crap! I asked for but had missed @fastiller's reference to the Pet Photos and Discussion thread. Thanks! My mind is all over the place..

I don't know how to properly embed tweets but : 'Monitoring the terrible situation in Florida. Just spoke to Governor Scott. Thoughts and prayers for all. Stay safe! 5 hours ago - Twitter' Stay safe, y'all! I don't think the Lauderdale shooting-news needs to dominate to this extent. They have nothing new! Supposition and emotions do not, imho, news make. I hope someone at least points out not only the paucity of mental health care available but also the seeming reluctance to address the issues. I think we have news more important to our national interests. -
Considering Joe's MSNBC "powers" I was thinking he was maybe sniffing around for FOXers who might jump ship to MSNBC. And be one of Mika's "people". (lotsa' snips boldings mine) 'For years, Scarborough complained—bitterly in private and not even all that cryptically in public—about the network's lefty slant. But since Andy Lack retook the reins of NBC News last year, he's demoted or jettisoned many of the more ideologically driven MSNBC hosts—from Al Sharpton to Ed Schultz to Melissa Harris-Perry. At the same time, Lack has elevated hosts like Chuck Todd, Andrea Mitchell, and Halperin and John Heilemann—or, as Brzezinski described them to me, "our people." Scarborough appreciates the changes: "I couldn't have said this for a very long time, but I like the people who are on MSNBC. I like the shows that are on MSNBC." The bunkers! (tm @oakville) 'Some mornings he connects from New Canaan, Connecticut—from a studio the network set up for him in his home; occasionally, he beams in from a public-access station on Nantucket, where he likes to vacation. Holy crap. That ridiculous painting is a Peter Max. I used to admire his work. 'Visitors to the show's invite-only headquarters are immediately greeted by a giant Peter Max painting of Scarborough and Brzezinski strolling along a beach dune in Nantucket.' I don't know how many times I've linked and skimmed/read that article and every single time I am amazed at the hubris displayed.

I bet NeNe Leakes wishes she hadn't quit her Apprentice season. She could use some cash but I would guess that quitters are as bad as losers in TrumpLand. Charles Blow was recommending not watching any inaugural events as a way to send a message to media but I might have to click over every now and then just laugh at the pathetic little parade. He can pay people to fill a ballroom for his pathetic litttle balls but probably not to line the aves.

And Time , among other outlets, is reporting on and showing an Arnold vid further chastising Trump. '“Please study this quote from Lincoln’s inaugural, @realDonaldTrump,” Schwarzenegger tweeted Friday morning. “It inspired me every day I was Governor, and I hope it inspires you.” In the video, after saying he’s “sure you want to hear me read Lincoln’s speeches in my Austrian accent,” the former California governor recites the famous final section of Lincoln’s first inaugural address: "We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."'- 8.1k replies

Three women operating under the ideas of the IndivisibleGuide mentioned, in a vid. on Rachel, that the real bonus of their personal visit to their rep's office was that they informed the media (via press release) about their (protest) intentions and the media showed up!

And a lot of things tasted better at 2:00am. iykwim I did not know about Panera's "Rapid Pick Up". I have bemoaned the lack of a drive-thru at the one I drive by regularly and this could belay some of my sniveling. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I heard KAC tell Chris Cumo, in response to Cuomo's statement that Putin has journalists killed, that, We do too! It was breathtaking. I think I heard Chris gasp. That's some nasty spin. -

Rachel Maddow highlighted the power of grassroots movements that have found direction through the Indivisible guide. A Google doc that went viral. And you really can't go wrong with Charles Blow. Yesterday's column, The Anti-Inauguration speaks to more resistance. Sometimes I go to bed feeling so hopeful with positive thoughts informed and bolstered by Ari and Rachel and Chris et al. And sometimes the next morning is like being slapped in the face by a media bent on covering this mess as "Entertainment". Not a lot of in-between, these days.

Listened on the radio and it was a thing of beauty. I'm sure the video will be up soon but here's the Mediaite take. I hate her so much it sure seemed longer than 20 minutes! ETA video at above Mediaite link. oops Earlier CBSThisMorning pretty much let her prattle on while over on MorningJoe Joe was saying they'd have to report on those Apprentice tweets 'cuz they were "sexy and entertaining", doncha' know? -
This show sux donkey dix. Tried to listen en route work but when Joe started talking about how Trump's tweet about Apprentice ratings would have to have media attention because it's a sexy and entertaining story I had to switch stations. Sexy. No words. And how can they not cover his cavalcade through NYC to meet with GCarter? ::sarcasm:: To hell with his "intelligence" briefing?? At least Eugene had the good grace to say he woke up this morning not believing what was happening. I wish he hadn't started that thought with, "For the first time..." Meanwhile on CNN Chris did a great job trying to get KAC to answer anything. Even conceding her deflection-points to get her back to his original question. Slippery ass. CBS This Morning pretty much let her prattle on. And now I'm in a horrible mood. Hullo work.

Looks like Cruz is expanding on the "Obama didn't do enough soon enough" theme. Or as he puts it, "rolled over". I'm not familiar with TheBlaze but: 'Calling the notion that Russian hacking helped President-elect Donald Trump win the presidency “absurd,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) nonetheless acknowledged that the hacking existed and was helped along by President Barack Obama’s fecklessness." -
I don't want to find one in my moving, or stopped, vehicle but I've got a thing for rats.
