  1. I figured it out. Jeannette’s actress is a Alia Shawkat clone. They look alike even and the voice is the same.
  2. Trixie and Lucille have horrible hair. And I am a fan of Trixie's baby bangs. Gloria still trying to have children after everything I guess is supposed to be inspiring? And while I do not relate, and think it's sad AF and not inspiring, I understand it's important to many women to have children... To me, it's so horrifying that she continued to put herself through it and her husband if he encouraged it, sucks. If he supported her that's entirely different, but if he pushed.. I don't think we can tell in the show if this were more her than him, but there are so many societal expectations of women. I'm glad she got her girl, but JFC, Gloria is a person and her worth is not only if she's a mother. I loved Phyllis and grumpy prickly Miss Higgins. I would love for them to Golden Girl together the rest of their lives. Most women will outlive their husband's anyway, so living out your years with a bff, would be so nice. Really, the show could be: "Call the Midwife; Terrible Societal Expectations of Women, post war period through (whenever the show ends)" It's really turns me off the amazing clothes and furniture of the era, everything else was oppressively limited, even if you were content with your lot in life..
  3. I remember during her first appearances I did not like Phyllis much, but OMG over time, I just love her so much. She's such an amazing, empathetic person. Sister MJ and her quixotic missions don't bother me as much as it does others it seems. I also don't think her uneven cognitive abilities are unrealistic based on my own experiences with multiple grandparents with dementia and Alzheimer's. Trixie had so many fabulous coats! I do NOT understand how these episodes are being released on Netflix? Only Season 9 and 10 Christmas episodes? I love the show but had decided to just wait until they were on Netflix but I don't get what's going on.
  4. I will not like it if it turns out that Mallory is gay and had a thing for Jeanette and/or Kate and that's why Mallory is being vindictive. Especially since Vincent is also into Jeanette. Jeanette is kind of stupid and a mush mouth in 93-94. Also, just like Kate I was born in 79, Jeanette is such an old fashioned name choice. My friends had Moms called Jeanette. She should have been Jennifer at minimum, or Becky or Kelly. Or really and it pains me, maybe even a Megan. ETA: Should have been Jessica! Why Cruel Summer? That was early 80's? I was in high school 94-97 and dressed a lot like Mallory. I lived in oversized Osh Kosh overalls, Levi 501s, Baby tees with that awful lettuce edge that's coming back right now, Vans, ESPRIT (my little town had an outlet!) and thrift shop tees and old man sweaters. Jansport backpacks. Body suits where more 90-93 middle school Wet seal for me in California. BEEPERS! Though I never had one that could send messages. Apart from all that, I understand placing this in the 90's, cell phones and finger tip internet complicates mysteries.
  5. Did Tom find that hat in the garbage?
  6. It must just be the names Chloe and Courtney and we're thinking more about than they did!
  7. You're right, I went back and watched his opening.. I could have sworn! that Lee specifically made a comment about River being straight, and I thought his real life was encroaching. But the man whose pictures he is using is a straight man and I wasn't paying close enough attention.
  8. I had assumed it was because all their names start with C, like the Kardashians with the K. But River's name does not. Lisa was terrible player but I don't get how Khat thought that fake jacket story was such a gotcha. A super famous touring musician would no way remember some random jacket he wore 15+ years ago. He probably wouldn't have even remembered that particular show and venue. Lee seems to be forgetting he made River straight.
  9. I think it's very weird that the samples they showed of the punch bowl and decanters were glass and not pottery. Anyway. It's a delightful show, I found it last year in the beginning of WFH. My favorite season 4 was Sal.
  10. These new AirBnB commercials with Dolly singing I will Always Love you with the dogs, and the Forever Young one do not seem like fun vacation vignettes but instead like the dogs and your friend/family died.
  11. As a non-Comic book, non enjoy-er of blockbuster movies person, I really liked WandaVision, up until this epi If this is how the movies have been, and it's not all just CGI fighty war stuff, maybe I should give the MCU movies (I've paid attention to the Taika Waititi movies and enjoyed them) a second look? I've seen them, but also spent the time focused on building Sim houses or something else, but am disappointed with this development. The Agatha All Along theme was not accurate and I'm sad she's ended up being like, an non entity, usher for the continuing story?
  12. I 'd bet the dog thing is probably a production casualty of animal actors kinda being a pain in the ass to deal with and there are a lot of rules (and for good reason) for animals on sets.
  13. Whenever James does any veterinary work, the actor plays it like he's so delightfully surprised that it actually worked. It was a charming series and was very pleasant to spend time with, instead of some gritty anti-hero show or retelling that everything seems to be nowadays.
  14. Kevin is definitely the one most playing a "scripted" part for sure to facilitate storylines. Dude is incredibly wealthy by most standards.
  15. Anna holds her head in the oddest positions. Like it's too heavy for her neck or shes hunched over? And she does have terrible hair. Apart from those two weird superficial judgey things shes really likeable. For rich people these guys talk constantly about how much everything costs.
  16. The only thing I hate more than a show discovering or showcasing that one of their stars can sing, is the addition of a troublesome, precocious, scamp, orphan. I do not know why shows love these story-lines. Maybe I am the only one who hates them. I did love that everyone thinks Celia sucks. And of course she voted for Brexit.
  17. What is with sitcoms and everybody singing nowadays, we're all supposed to be so amazed.. I kinda hate it.
  18. This show is still trying too hard. Mayim is not great. Things I like: Like everyone else the French Girlfriend, and I also think she won't be that same actress. Even though the Mom is kinda awful, and clueless. The two men she wanted to set Kat up with were Men who at the very least had jobs or interests inline with Kat. So she does know her daughter. But since I am still WFH, I will put the show on while I'm working away.
  19. Oooo, season 2! What color palette will Shea pick? White or Gray? White AND Gray? Will she want everything to look clean and fresh and white?! Will there be a pop of color? Maybe on a cabinet or two? Will all the houses basically look the same?! Which is just a variation on her house?! On episode 3 and so far, the answer to all these questions is yes, white, white, white. I am so glad she didn't get her mitts on that MCM house. I still don't get why those guys with the aesthetics that they claimed would hire Studio McGee. But apparently they also like white. Apparently adding funk, means a gray toned sage green. Sid is pretty douchey and seems to make a lot of gay jokes, "liking nuts", being a "fluffer."
  20. Ralph Macchio looks so much like Tony Hawk. 80's colliding. Watching the thingy with David Spade and Cobra Kai cast and WTF are the boys wearing? So much weird jewelry and monochromatic jacket outfits.
  21. It seemed like everyone's eyes were crazy dilated all the time, it probably has something to do with lighting? I don't think I have ever noticed that on a tv show before but it was with practically everyone here, most noticeable with people with light eyes. I loved the Queen's wigs! I thought this was very fun, think I will audible the books.
  22. If Rankin and Bass have taught us anything, it's that Santa is pissy, overly-sensitive, and petty. He supposedly knows if you're bad or good, so he should know that a freaking mouse (and his friends) wrote the letter, not an entire community. And you know who is also an asshole? That operator from Mouse Bell. He's such a jerk for no reason. "The equipment is in working order." Everyone from the North Pole is super rude. ETA: Rewatching this right now; how does Father Mouse literally know NOTHING about clocks as a clock-maker's apprentice? And yet, I still love this, and all other Rankin Bass Christmas specials.
  23. I recently started watching this while WFH, and I am on season 3. Did I miss where they explain the name Anna-Kat? Katy and her mom probably have the same name, Kathryn, so I am guessing it has something to do with their names...
  24. I really enjoyed this but just like Meet the Parents and the Family Stone the poor outsider should run away from these awful people forever.

    S15.E01: Like No Other

Of course Dallas still had cheerleaders and actual fans at their games.🙄 Thanks for the info, not a Dallas, or Jones family fan.
