  1. Did both Sonja and Carole wear cowboy boots to go fly fishing? What do these women think happens on an all girl trip? Carole sleeps in a silk full length nightgown, and Sonja is incapable of wearing underwear to sleep or eat breakfast. One of the things I like about Heather is the confidence she has in her unconventional looks. I just don't see her being jealous of Kristen's appearance. Especially since her career is based solely on her looks, and she's aging out of the field pretty quickly. The Regency era was 1811-1820. I don't think Carole's dress looked of that era, but if she's sashaying around in the woods in a two hundred year old gown ........
  2. Beyond the fact that makers protect their progeny from danger, is the belief that baby vamps have very little self-control. They are a danger to humans.
  3. I hope TLC avoids showing us the constant kissing that's bound to happen between Derick and Jill. I don't care to watch reality show people kiss, and Jill kisses all puckered up like a two year old child. I watched a clip of Josh and Anna's honeymoon, they kissed every time Josh stepped away from her.
  4. wrestlesflamingos, I think you meant to say that Janelle's children have her far set eyes. The Browns like to say that all the Brown children look like Kody. I couldn't disagree with them more. Those children are almost clones of their mothers, except for Logan. At TWoP, some people talked about Logan in a way I found extremely uncomfortable. They tried to claim that Logan is actually Janelle's first husband's child. This was speculation based solely on the fact that Logan doesn't look like his siblings or his parents. It was pointed out that Logan looks a lot like one of Kody's brothers. Although I think Logan is Kody's, I also think that Kody has shown that he's capable of loving and fathering children that are not his biologically.
  5. Mostly American League talk here. Where's the love for the National League? I'm originally from the Chicagoland area, but raised by two fanatical St. Louis Cardinals fans. While I love the Cardinals/Cubs rivalry, and think it's one of the best rivalries in baseball, it is not a friendly rivalry. My favorite baseball t-shirt said, "I root for two teams - The Cardinals and whoever plays the Cubs. The first and only time I've ever been spit on was in Wrigley Field. The Cubs beat my team, and I still got spit on. Imagine that. And although I tend to dislike all things Cubs, I always appreciated Don Zimmer. I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on the new Transfer Rule. It was interesting that they had to almost immediately amend it. I love that they cracked down on the football-like tackling that frequently occurs at home. Who wants to see another Buster Posey? Although I was raised with old-school baseball beliefs - you hit our guy and we hit yours, etc., I've never liked the overly rough stuff, especially because home plate is often covered by players not wearing catcher's gear. I also dislike the contortions players take to attempt to take out the second baseman in a double play. It just feels dirty to me. I'm surprised MLB hasn't tried harder to crack down on the unnecessary roughness - these guys are millions of dollars of investment for their teams. I love the St. Louis Cardinals fans. I've been going to games since I was little, and I've only ever heard them boo one player - Barry Bonds. And really, who could blame them? The Cardinals franchise is just brilliant at marketing to their fans - for instance Ballpark Village - and the players make tons of personal appearances all around the city year round.
  6. I would consider Ethan bisexual. There's nothing in his sexual relationship with Brona that portrays a man attempting to pass as heterosexual.
  7. Pam to Jessica - "Let's go to the ladies room and stare at ourselves in the mirror." Pam - "Maybe later we can braid each other's hair and talk about boys. Fucking baby vamps." Pam - "I am so over Sookie and her precious fairy vagina and her unbelievably stupid name. Fuck Sookie." Pam - "I'm wearing a Walmart sweatshirt for y'all. If that's not a demonstration of team spirit, I don't know what is." Lafayette to Lettie Mae - "Your too busy praising Jesus to realize your daughter wants to move in with him permanently." Lafayette to Sookie - "Well hey there sugar boo boo. Now what is you doing here at yo place of work? Cause I know it ain't work." Jason - “There's werewolves? Big Foot, is he real, too?” Jason - "If I want to be a fool then I will be a fool! That is my God given right as an American!"
  8. I wasn't crazy about the first four episodes, but the show has really sucked me in, and this episode was brilliant. After watching Vanessa being so isolated and lonely, it was heartwarming to see those four men devoted to caring for her. Malcolm has ulterior motives, but obviously cares for her. Ethan was so tender and kind to Vanessa, I actually teared up. Then they ruined the scene by blending it into a demonic hallucination. I thought Ethan was going to be the most boring character, and I feared Josh Hartnett may be the weakest actor. But I now think he's killing it. He does this type of character very well. He's bringing to mind the character he played in 30 Days of Night. I hope this revitalizes his career, because he was supposed to be the next big thing fifteen or so years ago. He made some poor choices in roles, and kind of disappeared for a while. I loved all of the male bonding that happened. Victor is really growing on me, and I really thought he would confide in Ethan, and ask him to kill Caliban. It sounds like Victor's doctors started him on the road to addiction when he was a child. I wonder why he's a virgin? I remember asking this about Peter. Is he awkward around women, asexual, gay? That may be true of young wealthy men in England, but I think it would be unlikely for an average man in southwest America. When he started the ritual, at first I thought he was going to be speaking Arabic, and I thought - not this Egyptian crap again. Then it clicked. Whatever it was about, Ethan obviously didn't want to do it, but felt compelled to. Pure speculation - For an exorcism (or whatever it was) to work, you must be a true believer. Maybe Ethan had lost that faith and regained it in that moment he was about to kill her. And it was interesting that the demon wearing Ethan's face didn't come to her in a sexual manner, but on a deep emotional level. Jessica Lange won an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG for American Horror Story. I've never watched the opening credits, I just FF through them. For some reason I watched this time. I know everyone has figured out that Ethan is a werewolf, but they actually show a wolf baring it's teeth before a shot of Ethan. Victor gets bloody hands with scalpel, Sembene gets something being cut open, and Caliban gets a fly caught in a spider web, Malcolm gets a snake, and Vanessa gets a spider. Most awesome line of the episode came from Ethan. "You want a daughter? There she is."
  9. I broke my shoulder a few years back, and began reading the books to pass the time. I stopped in the midst of the were-tiger one. It was just a little overload of men worshiping Sookie. The fairie blood explained the vampire attraction, but why all the weres? Also, Sookie was an innocent little virgin in the beginning because she read all the nasty thoughts of the men she dated. That's one of the reasons she was so drawn to Bill. So why that stopped bothering her with Alcide, et al, I don't know. When I realized that book Tara was white and not related to Lafayette, I lost all interest in her. And book Jason was a selfish asshole. So I definitely appreciate the show versions of those characters. And of course I'm grateful Lafayette lived past book one. I also appreciate the show cutting back on all the Hot Shot crap. That was just awful. One thing that stuck out during the witch season, I think they combined a couple of characters into one. Marnie was the nice witch that Sookie became friends with, and in the show she was the leader of the coven who's body was taken over by ..... whoever.
  10. I have never understood the Free Jinger thing either. Let me premise what I'm about to say by acknowledging that none of the older girls should bear the responsibility of raising their siblings. Unfortunately, that's not how it goes in the Duggar household. So I've always seen Jana and Jill working like dogs, and doing a wonderful job. And then I've seen sloths Jessa and Jinger doing very little. Jordyn's roaming around alone outside and barefoot, or clipped on to the table in a crappy highchair and abandoned - unable to get out. We've even seen Jessa break a sweat running down poor Johanna and holding her down forcibly to take a nap because she's not six yet! And then there's Jinger's buddy....... Yeah, who's Jinger's buddy? So, I dislike Jessa and Jinger, because everything they slacked on, Jana and Jill had to do more of. And I've never liked their talking heads. Jessa's always in the pageant pose of all hair pulled forward onto one shoulder, chest stuck out, huge grin on face. And then Jinger sits next to her, rolling her eyes, flashing a smart ass smile, and deferential to Jessa. I think I may like Jinger once Jessa moves on. Jinger will probably become her own person, instead of being Jessa's yes-man.
  11. Oh brilliant! I think we may have gotten to the real reason Meri resented Janelle. If the above quote is true - wow. Supposedly, Janelle approached Kody about being his wife. Not good. So Janelle is married, falls for her brother-in-law, propositions Kody, divorces first husband. Yikes. From everything they have said about their religion, it is not typical for a woman to approach and ask to be a married man's second wife.
  12. How to say this without being incredibly cruel to Mariah....... Well, Aspyn is a very pretty girl and Mariah, well - she looks like her mom. Maybe you can tell them apart more easily now that Aspyn has lost a lot of weight - not on the show yet. Also, Aspyn is kind and Mariah is spoiled. Both girls look just like their moms, but I think their hair colour is similar.
  13. Since they all tend to pronounce words the same way, it's probably a regional accent. I don't believe the g's are silent, unless you're from a region that does not pronounce them. I don't say goin' or doin'.
  14. After going through a self-destructive goth phase that ended with him almost killing Jessica, Hoyt asked Jessica to glamour him to forget both her and Jason. It was probably the storyline that's moved me most on this show. Hoyt packed up and moved to Alaska. Jason and Sookie were in his cop car, and Jason pulled Hoyt over to see him one last time as he drove out of town. Hoyt didn't remember him at all, but they still had an emotional moment before Hoyt left. Jason walked back to the car, climbed in, and just started crying. I dislike book Jason, but Ryan just tugs on my heartstrings. It is strange how they handled Jessica protecting Adilyn. In retrospect, the girl is a little dense, and she's soft-hearted enough to save Jessica after the death of her sisters. In theory, she could have made the same compassionate decision with the H-vamp. She was just too dumb and too sweet to reliably care for herself. I don't mind Willa, but she is distractingly similar in appearance to Nora. In fact, at first I thought it was her until I remembered that she died. I don't know if Tara is really dead - I hope not. What I do remember is the pre-season special the show did. I found Rutina to be melancholy, grateful to Anna, and even emotional, but that could have been simply because the show is ending. Tara's first death was heartbreaking with Sookie and Lafayette, and maybe they thought they couldn't top that death scene. I feel sorry for the actress if she was contractually obligated to do all the publicity for the show, if she was only in a few minutes of the entire season. Alcide and Sam are an embarrassment to wolves and dogs with their non-existent tracking skills. I don't hate Sookie. I watched the first few episodes of the first season recently, and her life has been non-stop turbulence. I forgot how naïve and innocent she was. She didn't like dirty talk or the "f" word, or discussions of sex. Now she's pretty open sexually and seems to savor saying fuck. I give the townsfolk no breaks for hating Sookie. They hated and ostracized her in that town long before vampires came out of the coffin.
  15. I just looked at the Daily Mail photos. I know this is not the case, but one of the pics sure looks like Derick is trying to stuff a drunken Jill into the backseat of a cop car.
  16. I think that one's opinion of Robin's mothering is determined by how much one likes Robin. I personally cannot stand her. Her self-righteousness makes me crazy. She gets a free pass on her friendships with mobsters. She's an amazing hypocrite who, after appointing herself the patron saint of true paternity (Michael and Spencer), attempted to hide her pregnancy with Emma from Patrick. The final straw is doing to Emma what was done to her. And it drives me crazy when people say that Robin only left Emma because that's what the writers decided. Really, that's true of every character.
  17. You know, I think the party was all kinds of dorky, but the kids were really enjoying it - even the usually cynical Hunter. There's probably nothing wrong with honoring your father. From what I've seen of this family, all the children seem to give credit to their mothers (rightfully so), and mock Kody (rightfully so). The party didn't bother me. The claim that Kody was uncomfortable because he was the center of attention was a little far fetched. I was really glad to see emotion from Janelle when talking about how miserable Madison and Hunter were about moving. First of all, it's just good to validate their feelings, but secondly - Janelle often comes off as cold and not nurturing. You never see her affectionate with any children other than her own.
  18. I'm getting a little creeped out with the media obsession with "Jill Duggar's first kiss". I'm not talking about people here - we actually watch the show, and many of us have affection for the family. If you google the topic, absolutely everybody has written a story, and every headline includes Jill's chaste state. I find it reminiscent of the creepy men who counted down to the Olsen sisters turning eighteen, and no longer jailbait.
  19. Maybe people don't feel compelled to dress up for a wedding and reception that gives them one mouthful of cake, a styrofoam cup of lemonade made from powder, and three mints wrapped up in mesh.
  20. I finally saw the episode and have numerous questions and comments. Ethan and Brona. I think his love and protection of her is very sweet. I'm just still having a hard time seeing what attracted both Ethan and Dorian. I think I could buy it more easily if Ethan had been with her before she was sick. She did have a nice plucky attitude, but God she's rough looking as well as a prostitute. TB is probably the least of the diseases she's carrying. Also, I'm a nurse. I cannot begin to describe how revolting the breath is of a person hacking up blood. The actress is doing a fine job of portraying illness, but it just makes it harder for me to believe that Ethan is still attracted enough to keep having sex with her. The early scene of Malcolm and Vanessa was refreshingly absent of pseudo-incestuous tension. It seemed to convey genuine affection and concern. I thought Malcolm was protecting Vanessa and happy at the thought of her going out like a normal girl her age. I finally felt a glimmer of sympathy for Caliban as he sat whimpering over his Chrstine Daae, but he ruined it of course. I know Frankenstein's monster has super human strength, but when he snatched Van Helsing, he moved with that super-speed that vampires are supposed to have. The anvil was so obvious when Van Helsing talked about being "destroyed" seconds before Caliban got him. The plague ship was all kinds of weird. I'm having a hard time with the vampire lore. Van Helsing specifically mentioned staking the vampire and then cutting off it's head. The ship vampires seemed to be killed by gunshots and slashed throats. Very interesting that the vampires slept through being touched and talked about, but when Malcolm said the name "Mina", every one of their eyes popped open. That name has some sort of power over them. And one of the vampires seemed to be tearing someone's throat out, but no one was injured at the end. What was that? The Dorian/Vanessa sex scene was a total fail for me. It wasn't rapey, because Vanessa told him to act without asking, because she wanted him to risk the rejection. That means she knew she would still have the choice to say no. Now I like erotica as much as the next premium channel subscriber, but it was just too weird for me. First of all, Vanessa's animal grunting was the same as her experience having sex with air. She sounds distressingly like Emily Rose crouched in her bedroom snacking on all the bugs she'd collected. The fact that Dorian routinely keeps a knife tucked under his pillow was extremely odd, as was his lack of concern when Vanessa took the knife and turned it on him. To then lick up the blood and bite him - yuck, yuck, yuck. I'm confused by the vampire autopsy. Vampires are technically dead, so his autopsy should have been all kinds of weird. Why was Malcolm so dismissive of Victor, telling him he would not be needed on the ship trip? He was cold to Victor, but I wonder if he was attempting to protect him. I do like Ethan's trust of Vanessa, especially because it doesn't seem to have a sexual connection. One thing I find odd, why do none of these supernatural folks (Vanessa, Ethan, Dorian) sense each other's inhuman qualities? Irishmaple explained that the Tarot cards Vanessa turned up were accurate to her interpretation. I just wonder if the moon card was another clue to the audience that Ethan is a werewolf. Interesting that both Van Helsing and Malcolm feel paternal affection toward Victor.
  21. Is Ken getting a touch of dementia? I've heard frequently that Ken was an extremely successful entrepreneur before Lisa ever came along. I've heard speculation that he's a little burned out from excessive drugs when he was younger. I'm questioning this due to the article linked above, which states two strange things. When questioned, Ken was unable to say whether he or Lisa was the manger of Blanca Investments, LLC, and also testified that he and Lisa are the sole members of that corporation - which is untrue. I've never been Ken's greatest fan, but I can't see him playing stupid and deliberately making himself look confused.
  22. I too like CT, but wonder why he's so popular. If I had to guess, I think his relationship with Diem showed a good side of CT - I know that's when I started liking him. My favorite CT season was the first Rivals. He seemed truly cognizant that he'd been a vicious asshole to Adam, and seemed to really value a friendship between the two of them. I enjoyed Johnny's take on CT. He said that CT has two sides to him. The violent scary guy, and then the one that puts on a nice shirt and glasses. If we're talking fans of the show disliking Johnny, I think it's because he's dominated so many seasons and has seemed to control his alliances. Johnny has revealed some misogyny - the show is actually loaded with it - but he seems to go about eliminating people in an impersonal way that I find less offensive. I don't mean he's not cutthroat, I just think he plays the game to win rather than as a social outlet with the goal of making friends. Plus, I've heard many people repeat that show Johnny and real Johnny are different. I think women love CT for his appearance (I'm not loving it this season), but he also managed to look an underdog for years. I have found him frightening at times, and I really think they should have contemplated banning him when he tried to kill Adam. Other than Johnny Backpack, I've been less than amazed by CT's performances. He smokes too much, is not as aerobically fit as he should be, and because of these two things, I think he lost Exes for Diem. I agree with the poster who said that Johnny probably would have worked with Devyn better than Zack. As much as Johnny has talked smack about women, he doesn't seem to break down and scream at them like Wes and some of the others. As much as he knew how to push Camilla's buttons, he was able to partner her in such a way that they won Exes. I personally believe Camilla is a mediocre player, but that's subjective.
  23. Agreed. He made several comments that back this up. He said when he turned eighteen, he was "out of there" and making his own decisions. He also said he realizes he's a role model to his younger siblings, but if he waited for them all to grow up, he will be an old man. On TWoP, some people criticized Logan and accused him of drinking the Kool-Aid. I never thought that. I think that Logan is very clear eyed when it comes to polygamy, but unlike his brother Hunter, he remained an obedient and respectful son. I think Logan's younger siblings must really miss him, and he was Janelle's de facto husband, so I wonder if the family is struggling a little to adjust.
  24. I have no problem with Kristen's saggy boobs. My only interest is that she states those are implants. How do these women manage to get such bad work? I've never understood the contention that Bravo was angry about this faked storyline. From what I've seen, Bravo not only doesn't mind faked storylines, they encourage it. Why would she be punished? Are they now punishing Ramona for pretending her marriage is still happy? I don't understand open relationships - at all. But if it's a mutual decision, it's really not my concern. I imagine that Luann probably prefers this type of arrangement - at least Ramona seems determined to put that out there at reunions. It does make it awkward when Lu has a ONS while filming. That was a sticky situation. I feel that Lu basically acknowledged it at the reunion, since she stated how sad she was to hurt Jacques.
