  1. This episode made me angry. Those people were so full of shit. First of all, he didn't kick the cat to get him off the baby. He kicked it out of anger. And I seriously doubt it was the first time. Just to remind everyone, they had no problem allowing the camera crew to stage a scene in which the baby crawled to the cat. That should never happen if they feared for his safety. Now I admit when cats growl, it gives me chills. It is truly creepy. The only time my cats have ever made that noise is when my dog has been harassing them. Now when the wife was filming Lux staring at her and meowing, I recognized that cry. My current cat was raised with two other cats who have since died. He also hangs around upstairs a lot to avoid my dog. When he gets lonely for attention, he makes that same heartbreaking crying that Luxe did and it broke my heart. The only way calling 911 to control a domesticated cat is justified is if you fear the cat is rabid. They should have been treated the same way as every person who wastes 911 time. It's fools like this that cause women to be raped and murdered because when they call they are put on hold. They deserved to be a laughing stock. We have no way of knowing if the dog contributed to the problem. He looked like a sweet little angel, but he looks like he had recent surgery that could have temporarily subdued him. I agree that Lux attacking his foster mom could have been provoked by all the stress he experienced. Even going to a calm home is stressful at first because it's another change. I think Jackson came as close as he could to calling that family lying neglectful owners. He was very cold to them and called them out on being a bad home for Luxe. When the wife was resisting, he was angry. I actually thought to myself that he should threaten to call child servises if they refused to consider their baby's safety. I think the husband has probably always disliked Lux, and I think the wife has a generalized anxiety or panic disorder. Her reactions were bizarre.
  2. On one of the most recent episodes I studied the girls dorm. There are five beds for nine girls. There are two full sized beds, one twin, and one set of twin bunk beds. The youngest slept in pack and plays for years. One of my greatest dislikes is their absolute lack of respect for education. They wallow in their ignorance and are proud of it. I hate how they raise their sons to believe they bear no responsibility for self-control. Their sisters must control the male exposure to the internet and be on full alert to scream NIKE at any and all provocation - boobs, elbows, calves. I despise how they wean infants to increase fertility, once again proving they care more about pregnancy than actual children.
  3. I wish the eliminations mixed endurance in with brute strength to balance out things. We've seen CT carry Johnny like a backpack - he's almost unstoppable in that capacity. But we've also seen him crap out endurance wise due to smoking and poor aerobic tolerance. It's sad that people like Cohutta may as well not show up.
  4. Where in the world did this clip come from? Kellyanne has always creeped me out a little. Hearing her say she has no problem having sex with a banana - as long as she wants it and isn't doing it to please a guy - reinforces it. Also, who's the lucky recipient of Johnny's literal banana? Camilla?
  5. sjohnson, I found your fourth paragraph particularly interesting. I came here to comment on what I perceive as a little Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde overtones. While Jekyll and Hyde are perceived as a split personality, the dark compulsions are within Jekyll himself, who then creates an outlet of Mr. Hyde. This enables Jekyll, for a time, to act out these negative impulses while maintaining the moral superiority of Jekyll. I think a comparison to Vanessa can be drawn, in that she acknowledges the bold behavior and sexual fascination were inherent within her. The "Hyde" in Vanessa is either the devil or a spirit that can make use of her medium abilities. Meanwhile, the "Jekyll" Vanessa manages to live a sexually repressed life (appropriate for the time), demonstrated by her not acting on her strong sexual attraction to Dorian Gray, or perhaps the pull that Malcom has on her. Instead, she becomes "possessed" by something that allows her to walk out into the street and initiate sex with a stranger. One other comparison. Jekyll's friend drops dead of shock after witnessing him transform to the other personality. Vanessa's mother drops dead of shock after witnessing Vanessa acting out her hypersexual nature.
  6. I think just about everybody feels that way about him. There's plenty of people in the episode threads who flat out call him a sexual predator who has sexually assaulted both Sonja and Kristen.I think Ramona has shown up a little late to the party. Last season she seemed really pleased when George was plastered to her backside with his hand on her belly, while he complimented her on her bathing suit. She was kind of leaning back against him and purring. Now that he's no longer praising her body, maybe Ramona sees his true perversion.
  7. This is probably not a spoiler. But I'm not sure where this info came from. I marathoned the first four episodes with a couple of friends. There was some alcohol involved, and I was impatiently waiting to watch GoT. After watching episode five, I decided I liked the show. I went back and read recaps from various sources. One recap blew my mind, and I can't find their claim confirmed elsewhere. The recapper claimed that Frankenstein's monster was Peter. Obviously Caliban looks nothing like Peter, but I don't remember Proteus very well. Plus, if Peter died in Egypt, he would have been too decomposed to use. There is a relationship between Victor and Malcolm, but I don't recall it's origins. Has anyone heard this theory?
  8. It's quite possible she's learning that being Andy Cohen's friend means very little. She had a good edit her first season. She's probably shocked at how she's being portrayed now. Regarding Kelly, I never believed for a minute that Carole had watched this show. She's above that kind of thing. I think the comment she made about Aviva using Kelly's words was fed to Carole. Therefore, I think Carole treated Kelly like she would anyone she first met with nothing preconceived. Regarding Sonja, I wouldn't be surprised if she and Russ had a drunken hookup. To me, Sonja is a skank who either screwed a friend's boyfriend, or simply lied about it to hurt the friend. I'm not sure which I consider worst.
  9. I am incapable of being surprised by the entitlement demonstrated by brides to be. I accompanied a good friend (who's wedding I was in) as she completed her registry. She and her fiancé already lived together in a house at this point. As she happily added the most expensive items, she explained that she already had everything that she needed, and she was now "trading up". She followed this by moving the destination of her wedding from Chicago to Las Vegas, and I paid through the nose for the pleasure of being her bridesmaid. Such self-involved people.
  10. A lot of these details are driving me crazy. I'm giving them some leeway because I think the info omission is plot related and deliberate. I would like to lockdown the basics of Vanessa's age, how long since her breakdown, where the missing spouses are, and if Malcolm met Mina's husband. Minor question - was Peter gay or simply disinterested or even turned off by Vanessa's aggressive (for the time) sexual overture. I'd like to think that Vanessa's father did not disown her. They made a point of showing that her parents were loving and supportive. They seemed great parents in a time where the uppercrust handed over their children to servants while visiting with them perhaps once a day. As much as Vanessa slammed Malcolm's parenting of Mina, it was actually Peter he neglected, not Mina. I'm hoping fervently that they don't reveal Malcolm as Vanessa's father. I can't unsee their sex scene - even though it was not real, and Vanessa was either subconsciously (or otherwise) attracted to him. I tolerate the excessive incest in GoT because it's set in a fantasy land. There's good chemistry between V and M. Please no incest.
  11. I thought Carole looked pretty good hair and face wise while sitting on the bench with Kristen and Luann. Everything except the nine inches of outgrowth on her hair. Too bad she isn't as vigilant with her roots on her head as she is with her pubic hair.
  12. I've often wondered why Cara Maria has been so disliked in the past. It was particularly bad in Rivals I, and Laurel and then Kenny stood up for her. I've heard people say it's because she's an only child. I dislike that answer because I'm an only myself. That season she was particularly obsessed with her horse and Abe. I think one of the problems is she doesn't seem to drink, and that's how these people bond. She's also a little odd. I think it was in Rivals II, in the challenge where they pretended they were going to get electrocuted, when CM talked about liking to apply electricity to her nipple clamps. That's not something your average person can identify with.
  13. I've long compared Lisa to Carole. I think they are passive aggressive about saving their nasty comments to THs and blogs. I think they also respond to situations depending on who's current fan fave.
  14. I'm liking the character more and more, but some things strike me wrong for the time period. It would not be respectable for Vanessa to be living with Malcom. She also would not be going about London without a proper chaperone. It seems that the sex scandal was not revealed outside the family, so I believe she would still be accepted by the highest classes. However, there's no way she would be playing at Medium at parties. Women of her class did not work in any capacity, and her activities would have been viewed as either vulgar parlor games, or the work of the devil.
  15. It was completely over the top. There's a power imbalance between Andi and Anton, and it irritated me not only because she yelled, but because she aggressively got in his face. She knows full well that he cannot respond in kind, not only because she has authority over him, but also because he's a man and she's a petite female. His THs regarding Andi were disgusting, but they're recorded after the fact, and reflect his bitterness of being cut. I like the taste tests because I like to laugh at these people, but also because Ramsay enjoys them so much. He was practically glowing. I agree with the poster above that Ramsay can be a nurturing person. The thing is, he allows himself to be portrayed as he is on the show. As mentioned above, he really admired Julia. I thought he was about to cry when he eliminated her.
  16. You are absolutely correct. I don't know why I would type Janelle - she does not cook anything ever. However, Christine prepared meals for both their children, and I think Mariah would join them. So even with the extra food budget for Meri, Mariah ate Christine's food.
  17. Which guy was playing with the dog at the restaurant? It looked like CT but sounded like Johnny.
  18. Rhetorica, I think you're right. I still want to see those placentas used in testing rather than beauty products. We could also store stem cells from every placenta to be used for transplants. I think we're too uptight in this country on this subject.
  19. Even though she didn't click for me on TV, I recall telling my mom she was made for Broadway.
  20. I think one of the reasons that Meri tends to be the most miserable, is because she's the most demanding. Being the most demanding, she's going to be frequently disappointed. Janelle asks for very little, and Christine asks only for her children to see Kody more than once a week. Meri wants Kody to be her soul mate. And I think he is. But watching Meri's personality influence Mariah's petulant and spoiled actions has gotten to Kody. He's had that conversation with Meri, and Meri has acknowledged she does influence Mariah negatively, and that having to live with Mariah has given her some sympathy for Kody having to deal with Meri. I do feel for Meri. She was horrible to Janelle back in the day - no question. But it still comes up in their book and in every reunion. I can see how Meri parses her words now, and I've watched her become frustrated when she can't express herself, for fear of the feedback. But she remains lacking in self-awareness. The whole wet bar conversation. The showing up and shutting down of construction to the point that she's asked to stop coming. Her crying about not getting into the new house before Christmas, when she had only herself to blame. The coddling of Mariah who parks the vehicle aimed at the empty house and stares at it like a psychopath, and refusing to help or even be happy for her siblings. I do think that Meri has been incredibly selfish in demanding an equal share. For one thing, she has given Mariah an unrealistic vision of what polygamy is. It's no surprise that Mariah is the only child planning on that lifestyle. She has lived (prior to the LV move) a life of relative privilege while her siblings were crammed into bedrooms like sardines. In the first season, they contrasted Janelle feeding the children cheap Aldi garbage, while Meri is upstairs preparing herself more pricey and healthier food. As she says about herself, she has expensive taste. This has trickled down to Mariah's need to go to the expensive out of state private school - absolutely no other school was even considered. And she absolutely could not send her to school without a nice car. The Williams family distributes money per child, and there is far less disparity of children in that family.
  21. He left a very poor impression on me. He was rude, spent his time on his phone instead of practicing like he was supposed to do, and did not act at all embarrassed or sorry when he dropped Malece on her head. Negligence like that is all it takes to paralyze a person for life. He was an asshole, and I would have preferred not to see him again. She was a permanent fixture in the bottom three. Nigel had the hots for her and waved her through time after time. I recognized she was a charismatic dancer, but for whatever reason, she didn't click for me. I actively started disliking her because of Nigel's actions, rather than anything she did. I'm over it now, but Nigel has only himself to blame for any residual hostility aimed her way.
  22. I'm hoping for more clarity. We know why Vanessa went so long out of contact with Mina. But why didn't Malcolm know Mina was involved in something bad? It seemed like he was clueless until Vanessa informed him that Mina needed help. It's interesting that Malcolm believes in this power that Vanessa has. One thing I wish had happened, when Malcolm shut the gate in Vanessa's face and made her feel like such a monster, I wish she would have thrown in something like - "Yeah, that's how I felt when I saw you fucking my mother. I bet my father and your wife had a problem with it". He was such a self-righteous asshole. Vanessa had been a sheltered virgin, why was it automatically assumed that she was some femme fatale? We saw her seduce him, but he didn't need much convincing.
  23. I paused and studied the girls dormitory (how incredibly stupid to have such a thing in a family home). There were two full sized beds, one twin, and one set of bunk beds. Nine girls live there. Let's forget that four of them don't even have beds. We have girls nearing their mid-twenties who are sharing beds with their siblings. While that was perfectly fine for my mom and her eight siblings growing up as sharecropper's children in Arkansas, I think it's unacceptable here. Josie is not even potty trained. At her age, she needs serious pull ups or lucky Jana gets peed on every night. I don't see cheapskate Jim Bob buying expensive diapers. I agree completely that it's Michelle holding back Jana. Jana is (by far) the most selfless and she made the mistake of revealing her resentment. Michelle will punish her forever. Josie will never care for herself at the rate that they're going. The youngest usually gets stuck caring for the elderly parents. Josie's out. If Jordyn skips out on that family (I can hope), Jana is there for life.
  24. In present time, is Vanessa's hair all the way to her waist again? It would have taken years to grow that long after being shaved. My post-chemo cousin has taken three years to grow hair half that long. I'm trying to get a grasp on the timeline.
  25. I don't know why it bothers me, but every time Heller gets on the phone and summons the PM like he's his secretary, I'm irritated. I'm sure people in the UK just love this show. They called Tony Blair, "Bush's Poodle", what would they call this fictional PM? It's just so rude to stomp all over England expecting them to mind their own business. Jack has tortured skinny white girls before. I don't remember the season, but there was the blonde sister of another blonde that Jack was acquainted with. The sister was secretly a terrorist, and when she was shot not only did Jack delay her treatment, her pushed on her wound to get her to talk. I'm a bit more sympathetic to Simone since her mother is Medea, but the actress is pretty weak - she always looks on the verge of a smile. Every time someone posts the name "Kim" I fear she's going to show up. I've never wished for a character's death as hard as wished for Kim's. Having said that, couldn't there be one throw away line (perhaps from Jack to Chloe or Audrey) saying Kim's alive and well? I hate her, but Jack is not supposed to.
