Unpopular opinion, but I don't think Daniel's mom is off base for being concerned about Lizzie drinking (though her comportment is off, she shouldn't have been talking shit about Lizzie while Lizzie was in the house). Daniel is an addict, as is Lizzie. Some drug addicts can handle using substances that are not their drug of choice, some cannot. Mom doesn't know which one Lizzie is, so for all she knows, alcohol leads to meth - which is true for some addicts.

Now, I think Daniel is perfectly capable of fucking up his own life on his own (see: face tats) and doesn't need Lizzie for that, but I don't think his mother is wrong for being concerned that her addict son was exposed to alcohol an hour after getting out of jail.

I was confused about Shane's story. It sounded like his friend showed Shane nudes on his phone and Shane beat the guy so badly he lost his eye. I was texting a friend about it and he said he assumed the nudes were child porn (which, if the guy was 17 like Shane was at the time, could happen pretty easily if he had a same-age girlfriend sending him nudes), but in that case, why didn't the friend face any legal consequences?

GLORIETTA. When her list of reasons she should marry Alex included "he has pretty eyes and a nice body and sings to [her] really nice [no he doesn't, Justin "Beaver" he is not]," I was done. Glorietta is a MESS.

IIRC, Lizzie told us in a voiceover that Daniel's arrest followed a binge drinking session he and Lizzie had when they first met. So Daniel's 3 years in prison was a fairly direct consequence of (both of their) drinking, if Lizzie is to be believed. If true, Daniel's mom's concern is justified.

I don't believe that those drugs belonged solely to "Lizzie's friend."

I understand the concern from Daniels mother because clearly, as a recovering addict fresh out of jail....."just drinking" is a terrible idea.  

But, Daniels sobriety is not Lizzie's responsibility.  It's not Teri's responsibility.  It's Daniels responsibility.

I don't know what to think because she has pulled her life together beautifully.  Working part time, going to school full time is a path most parents would be proud of. 

This is why it makes no sense to me that Lizzie's own mother isn't causing some sort of ruckus.  I mean, yes, let your kids make their own decisions but Lizzie's mother seemed to be fully behind her being with a meth addict fresh out of jail that she knew for a week ahead of time.

And I'm also confused as to why Lizzie is so nonchalant.  I mean....follow me here.   Lizzie clearly had a drug problem.  It must have taken a LOT of hard work and dedication to get from "drug problem" to working part time and doing school full time.  She must have struggled with her cravings and worked hard to stay sober, clean and focused.  

All of that speaks to putting in the hard work of sobriety and respecting it's importance.  So why is she okay getting with a guy who is an addict she only knew a week before he went in? 

I just don't understand it, her story reads like a successfully recovering addict but her behavior is so different.  

Either way, hopefully he doesn't drag her down with him.  I doubt she will be able to wriggle away next time.

I know! I would be tripping if I were her mother. "You've done so much work to turn your life around and THIS is who you take up with?" She met him when she was 19 and he got locked up a week later. OK, bye dude! You meet people all the time when you're 19. She's a college student, she could meet another dude today! Get on the apps!

I frankly don't have a lot of faith in Daniel's ability to stay clean; I don't think he's developed the skills he needs to cope with disappointment and life stuff in a healthy way.

OMG, that was HILARIOUS!  I thought she was gonna change into some sweats or a ninja outfit or at least something more comfortable to walk the streets looking for a runaway felon....but it was the exact same dress in red!

I've never been an addict, and I'm fairly square.  But I imagine that if I went from "addict who almost got arrested" to school full time and work part time it would take a lot of work and committment to stay on the straight and narrow.  

I did school full time and work part time, but I might have been a little more intense and weird about it since I had kinda flamed out of college before o really dedicated myself.  

No way would I have been driving all over creation to visit a felon four hours away.  The felon part is pertinent because it's not a long visit for the amount of time you spend driving.

And while I had a great job that allowed me to take days off as I pleased as long as my work got done I was luscky.  A lot of college students have part time jobs where they struggle for hours and already ask an employer to schedule around their school.  You run into the wrong manager and you end up with fewer hours.  

I guess if the college student was driving for Uber, but I went to.college with the dinosaurs....I think we may have been using flip phones. 

BUT, you're right I guess she could have been working, partying and doing school full time.

If I understand it correctly, Shane beat up a gay guy, which made me even angrier when Lacey said he did the right thing.I had the closed captioning on and it seemed to me that he said the guy was trying to show him naked pictures of himself.

I watched it again with closed captioning.  He said, "pics of *Bleep*(they even blurred his mouth)  They were naked."  It really isn't clear WHAT he said.  

My thought against it being young kids is what kind of fantastically idiotic buffoon, even a pedo, just wanders over to a friend and says, "Hey, check this out!" 

Although, it might have been someone older, but still under age, like Shane's sister (not a spoiler, I have no idea if he has one or not) or something.

I'm not sure if, in every state, someone holding kiddie porn would be arrested.  You can for sure get busted for possession of kiddie porn but I'm not sure if it's considered as serious, criminally, as distribution.

I think Shane's story is that he beat  a guy up for showing him kiddie porn.  Which is why Lacey said he was right to beat the guy. 

I think that is Shane's story, but I think he is full of shit.  There are very few socially acceptable reasons to beat someone so bad that their eye is removed.  Very few reasons that you can use when questioned about a malicious wounding charge during a job interview that people will accept.  

Saying that the guy caught a beating because he was a child molester who was showing you kiddie porn is one of the few reasons normal society will accept for beating someone out of an eye.  

So, for Shane, the best thing for him to say is that he beat the guy up for showing him kiddie porn.  

I also think that IF Shane's story is true the guy probably got rid of any and all pics that could be construed as child porn right after his beating.  His computer was probably thrown off a cliff right along with his cell phone.

Not sure how long eye removal takes, but it should take a decent amount of time to get a warrant.  Likely enough time to allow a person to throw a computer off a cliff post eye removal.
