Irate Panda September 20, 2021 Share September 20, 2021 I have received Cozy Earth items that were nice, others just ok. Nobody ever asked me to buy or sell anything, so I never heard anything bad about them other than they take a while to ship sometimes. I’m guessing Ysabel has gotten most of her items free for promotion. Hopefully Ysabel stays in school and doesn’t get involved with any mlm or scams. Making money off IG is pretty common but hopefully she doesn’t depend on it being a totally sustainable way of living for a part-time reality show “star”. 1 10 Link to comment
WhatAmIWatching September 20, 2021 Share September 20, 2021 Are these people just plain allergic to working regular jobs? Do they break out in hives at even the thought of 9-5 employment? Snark aside, I can see Ysabel doing this as a sideline, while doing her schooling. School takes up so much energy, focus and time as it is. I just hope she doesn't let any sidelines move to a priority. Good heavens those items are expensive! 15 Link to comment

Apparently SM influencer is a "real job" for people on reality TV. I mean, if you can do it, more power to you I suppose. In my work, I meet a lot of people who say some variation of, "You know - I'm not a 9 to 5er...that's just not the life for me." For many of them, their plans are things like MLMs, playing video games on Twitch (I still have no idea how you make money from that, but apparently it's a thing), social media sponsorships, youtubing, etc. I'm not sure how well any of them do because their money is none of my business, but I'm always curious how they get by. 1 6 Link to comment

Oh right, influencing! I remember reading that it can be quite lucrative, depending on level of reach, type of product on offer, and any sponsorships. (My son monetized some of his gaming walk-throughs years ago, but never broke the bank, because everyone was doing it, but he had spending money.) You're right, good for those who can capitalize on their followers and do something out of the box for income. For me, it all feels too feast or famine and fleeting. I'd want more security, health insurance and a 401k. Get off my lawn! 🤣 MLM's still puzzle me, as I don't know how anyone makes actual money there, unless one got in early, has a massive down line, or spends a lot of time and energy shilling. (Except Meri who apparently makes bank, even while not doing much, except hashtagging the heck out of posts, and being rude to her customers). I guess I still think of the Brown's as inept or disorganized from how badly they flubbed the Closet. 10 Link to comment
MargeGunderson September 21, 2021 Share September 21, 2021 (edited) Being an influencer can be a job for sure, but successful influencers have to really work at it, not just put up a post once in a while. The Browns have a leg up in that they already have an audience to draw on, but I wonder how much overlap there is between their fans and people who can truly afford $116 for a single pair of lounge pants. Not being able to afford something doesn’t necessarily stop people from buying, but it probably limits them from repeated purchase. Edited September 21, 2021 by MargeGunderson 2 8 Link to comment

If not for their TV presence I doubt they would have the success they have in their side line business. You have to be a born sales person to sell. I have only a few times bought something from a friend who does that kind of work. I let them know I can't afford to buy something every time you have a show/party. Plus if there are 10 other people doing the same thing in your area, it's hard to sell enough to live on or make it worth the time you put in. 3 hours ago, WhatAmIWatching said: I guess I still think of the Brown's as inept or disorganized from how badly they flubbed the Closet. Add in the cheap trinkets that they overpriced like fine jewelry; not updating often enough; not securing the site well, among many other mistakes, and it ended up a big mess. It’s amazing what they can do through arthroscopic surgeries nowadays. Less massive scarring and a more speedy recovery. Having said that, never forget that there still is pretty extensive damage internally that you don’t see. So Ysabel probably still had a long (painful) recovery as it’s still a huge procedure. 1 12 Link to comment

Art Of Noiz October 10, 2021 Share October 10, 2021 I think it's so odd that in the last 2 or 3 seasons Robyn's brood are shielded from social media. There was a short clip in S 14 or 15 about Brianna trying out for dance squad. Kodwad objected, Robyn explained it was modest, that she had found that out right away. Well, there was never any follow up, and it seems the clip has been edited out. 5 Link to comment

LilyD October 23, 2021 Share October 23, 2021 Savanah has been discussed a lot on this forum over the past few months. she always seems the odd one out because of her age and for being stuck with mom in an RV. I do wonder why she never bonded with Breanna as they are pretty close in age and were only 5 when their parents met. Having said that; none of Robyn’s kids have ever really bonded with the others. Dayton in particular had a pretty rough time. It may partly be because of his odd behavior but it was also clearly noticeable that the older boys really weren’t happy to take him on as a brother. and then there’s Aurora… no bond with Gwen to whom she’s really close in age but this one I get. Aurora seems overly sensitive and Gwen…well….is not… I have thought about this a lot as I have a whole bunch of step siblings and I can’t really be bothered with anyone of them. Fine when I see them, fine when not. Is it the curse of being step siblings? Or is it because of some odd behavior particularly with Dayton and Aurora? Or maybe because Robyn is overly protective and never let anyone near them? 12 Link to comment
MakingBacon October 23, 2021 Share October 23, 2021 I don’t think Robyn ever wanted her kids close to the Brown siblings. She seems to have wanted Kody but not his other kids. The Brown kids grew up very closely together, especially in the early years. They likely had to stick together while dealing with people on the outside not fond of their family being polygamists. Or just dealing with their fighting parents. I think it would have been difficult for Robyn’s kids to come into a situation with so many kids, so many moms and coming from a place of one dad, one mom and one set of kids. Now one dad, four moms and eleventy kids. It would be a difficult situation to navigate. 13 Link to comment

It's one thing to know siblings from birth, quite another to be handed a bundle of strangers and being told to treat them like "they should have been together all along". Especially the teens who would be in that rebellious period already. 15 Link to comment

Libby October 24, 2021 Share October 24, 2021 I don't think that Janelle, Christine, or any of their kids were happy to have Robyn or her kids join the family. Kody and Meri wanted them. Meri realized that she didn't only hurt Janelle, Christine, and their kids by bringing Robyn in. She finally figured out that she hurt herself worst of all. Polygamy is a mess. The family was hanging on by a dysfunctional thread before Robyn. Robyn was the final nail in the coffin. Meri brought down the house with her selfishness and her desire to hurt Janelle and Christine. Someone like Joe Darger can hold this crazy family setup together. Kody was never in his league and just let the dysfunction take hold. I hope his peer group sees him as the loser, wannabe polygamist that he is. He wanted to be a big shot in their world, but he couldn't pull it off. Robyn could have pulled it off if she was a polygamist man. Ha! 15 Link to comment

As much as I don’t like Joe Darger, he seems to be doing a great job as head of the family and seems respected and well liked by the rest of them. Kody is dysfunctional, impulsive and chaotic to the core. All equally disastrous when managing a huge family. And he’s completely blind to all visions and needs of everyone around him, only catering to his (and Robyn’s) own whims and needs. That’s probably why the older kids don’t care for him. 17 Link to comment

Hunter. He's always been the outspoken one about Robyn, adding more people, having another baby, etc. He flat out said "we've got too many kids as it is!" Hunter's my favorite Brown kid. Of course how can anyone not like Logan, I like him too, but I love the common sense coming from Hunter, and he's not afraid to say it right to his parents or right to that camera that his parents had shoved in his face - poor kid. If you want a laugh, go back and watch the cookie speech. Hunter is lounging with his feet up on the coffee table, yawning, rolling his eyes...🤣🤣🤣 Afterwards he's interviewed by producers and he tells them basically he didn't buy the speech at all, and what two consenting adults want to do is their own business even if they're not married, despite what step-mommy dearest said through her tears. The teen girls are interviewed and are all on the "protect your cookie at all costs" bandwagon, but Hunter, who can't be more than what - 14 or 15 at that time?? - makes up his own mind and cannot be swayed by Robyn's ridiculous bawling or Kody's strong-arming. I bet Kody can't stand him. He recognized at a very young age what a complete tool his father is, and he makes no bones about it. 27 Link to comment

Robyn was in a separate house in Lehi because of space and then they went to Vegas. Again in separate houses. So neither she, nor her kids were ever part of the one big family in one big household. I’m sure that didn’t help her kids to be accepted either. But….if you agree to marry into a polygamist family, you generally agree to other wives parenting your kids. She's had ample opportunities to push for it, if that's what she's really wanted. Look at now: why can't Jenelle, Christine or even Meri live with her now? I mean, Meri would hardly ever be there, which is a bonus. I started believing this when she had that note on her fridge about the other kids needing to ask before they ate anything from her fridge. I agree with you about Jessop. Her stories about him never rang true to me. She was in debt because she wanted to keep the peace? Don't think so. I read on CJ's blog (years ago and I can't link to it quickly) that Jessop's family paid off credit cards a couple of times. Robyn stated Jessop's family were spiritual leaders in that community. Jessop's dad was head of maintenence at Pinesdale Academy. Just a couple of inconsistencies. Dayton and Breanna were stunned when told their daddy agreed to the adoption. There is a scene with Savannah on the couch, and she mentions how she is excited that Breanna is joining the family so there will be someone her age to play with. It made me sad realizing that it never seemed to work out for her the way she thought it would. I think there was a lot of pretending about the blending of Robyn's kids into the mix. I especially recall Gabe, Aurora and Gwen being referred to as "triplets." If I recall correctly, Gabe and Gwen are a few days apart and probably do feel a little like "twins." Aurora is six months younger, and she is an add-on to the family. I cannot imagine any of the three wanting to be considered as triplets.
