Mama June: From Not To Hot: Seasons 1-6

I don’t feel bad for June. Not at all. She’s pimped out her kids to get a TV show, could care less what is shown of their homelife on TV. As long as she gets a check and the checks keep coming, she’ll do whatever it takes. Crack ain’t cheap.

She is on drugs. Are we really supposed to think otherwise? It's not difficult to figure out.

God, these two are a damn mess.  Are they still trying to peddle that stupid June was only holding Geno’s crack pipe lie?

Theres no way June wasn’t on something during the bracelet scene or the hairdressers and Geno was fucking twitching when he delivered his nonsensical ninja whoop ass line. And there’s poor Alana, in her room listening to it all.  No wonder she clings so hard to her DWTS experience and Tristan, her home life is shitty and lonely and probably terrifying sometimes. 

I do feel for Pumpkin too. She’s married with her own baby, the last thing she has time to do is drive across town to deal with June’s meltdowns and hysterics and now she has Alana on top of everything else?  It’s telling how completely unfazed she was by June nodding off, she’s seen this before.

How many of us are under major amounts of stress? How many of us have had our stress turn our hands into claws?

June was born with cataracts but her mom would not take her to the doctor. She put a fear of doctors in June. Remember when Anna's daughter had the extra thumb? June was against taking the baby to the doctor, and when Anna did, June really did not want the baby to have the procedure done. June talked a bit about her fears then. The thumb removal was a minor surgery (My son had a friend that had it done, you would never know it was ever there). 

Alana was actually on The doctors Tv show. they gave Alana a diet but even with their help, June did not follow it. 

It makes me upset that some doctors these days will not tell you you or your kid is overweight. I had a friend with an overweight son. He was wearing adult clothes in 1st grade, and weighed closer to 200lbs! She would lead, with his dad is so tall and I am tall, he is a big boy. The doctor said nothing.  Thankfully, since her son grew tall, a really cool college student who was doing coaching, took the boy and trained him for free, had him running the stairs at the stadium and in a year he lost 75lbs.  

I do not know why doctors are so scared to talk about weight unless the patient brings it up. Are they afraid of lawsuits or bad reviews? I had an older PCP, he had some weight chart from like 1970 on his wall. My BMI is about 23 and I have been within 5 lbs of the same weight for 15 years. It was closer to 24 BMI after a long bedrest after surgery and he said, you are overweight, and gave me this long talk. I was not overwight by BMI and I admit felt bad when he said it, but I do know he was concerned about health and diet. My new PCP, who my mom sees, will never mention weight. My mom is a diabetic and is very overweight and the doctor mentions nothing because  they know my mom would be upset. Doctors should get some training on how to approach this. No one wants to be called fat, but patients need to know healthy habits and how to obtain them in a safe way.

I think June uses whatever is convenient for her at the moment, she has had way too many elective surgeries to claim "doctor fear" at this time.

I think the weight loss surgery and all the skin and other surgeries were motivated by money (I guess over taking any fears along with some sedatives?). June seemed scared to leave her welfare life that she had before the show. The original house was cheap, and she knew with being legally blind she would always get a certain amount of help plus she used her coupons. Once she took a big check for herself and not for the kids trust, she knew she would have to support herself forever. When they money was running low and she panicked and did the weight loss and other surgeries out of pure need of money. It is obvious she did not do it for health. I never saw her eat healthy even at her thinnest. She also did not seem like she ever did any regular workout , just a workout here and there for the show. She seems to have gone right back to her old eating habits.  So the paycheck was the major reason for those surgeries.

I watched last weeks episode on my lunch break today, don't ask why, even I don't know lol.  When everyone left on the carriage ride, June was begging Geno for sex, again, he refuses, again, then he tells her she looks like a f'n 5 legged elephant....and she replies, so are you gonna put a ring on the other finger. What??? When he tells her to go to the hospital they'll help her get her bracelets off, in her TH she says, when you love somebody & they are sick and need to go to the hospital your not suppose to yell at them....he just told you he didn't love you....Ok, this dude is not good looking, does not have a personality, cheats on her, steals her money, sexting other women, does not take care of her, does not have a job, tell me what does he have going for him & why she thinks he's such a catch because I don't know of any reason why I wouldn't be running the other way.

She clearly has some major self esteem issues.  I put up with this crap from men when I was younger,  but the older I get,  the less I tolerate.  She also feels like she needs him.

 Where is Alana?  I'm guessing with Pumpkin.  June should go home, let Pumpkin, Ella and Josh move back in.  Then she'd have help and could kick that low life, good for nothing,  Nazi loving POS to the curb!!

What is going on with her head bobbing?  We see it here in the short video and when she was in the restaurant with Doe Doe she was swinging her head from side to side like Stevie Wonder singing a song! Is it the drugs or something medically wrong with her?

Wind Creek is a lovely casino and hotel.   The casino and hotel are owned and operated by the Poarch Creek Indian tribe.   When there was a huge tornado here a few months ago, there were over 20 deaths, including seven from one family.   The tribe paid for all of the funerals.     

They don't deserve June and love muffin staying there, and grossing out the other customers.

She seems to be carrying on a conversation with somebody (we can see a person in a loud shirt in the foreground), that's why she keeps looking backward. She also keeps shrugging her shoulders, which looks like punctuation to something she's saying. I don't read anything into this.

I do want to know how fast her gambling is burning through her remaining bank, though. Hope her house was paid for with cash.

I did, but I didn't think it was anything other than June's normal awkwardness, coupled with her tortured attempts at 'acting'. I don't recall Doe Doe saying anything about it, either. I'm certainly not ruling out her tweaking, but I'm not really convinced based on what we've seen.

How are they going to end the season? there can't be some happy ending like June left Geno or June is in rehab. The season ends in 2 or 3 episodes? 

Living in the casino is a recipe for trouble. Are they doing it because of the restraining order? or is June following Geno around? just sad. 

I hope that Pumpkin gets all or most of the money from this season. It seems like Alana is living with ehr full time and that apartment has very little furniture. Lets hope Pumpkin gets enough money to get the apartment furnished to be comfortable for Ella and Alana to be living there.

Crack is whack.  I don't see any redemption arc coming.  I see something really crappy happening.  Maybe it'll be prison.  That might be the best outcome.

Then when Dumb & Dumber get out, they can go on the Love after Prison show.

They are using every excuse (stress, dating abuse) to cover the fact that it is DRUGS. Pumpkin's husband made an offhand remark of "they are on the rocks all right...." and Pumpkin did say something about Geno using but those comments get swept under the rug. Since they showed in the previews for next week's show the crack arrest hopefully they will finally get real, but I am not holding my breath.

Speaking of not getting real, Jennifer's photo shoot where Jennifer says that she doesn't feel like it would be a fair cover win was another convenient ploy to drag it out. Jennifer is not hot in any way, shape, or form and I don't think anyone is going to buy a magazine because Jennifer is on the cover.

I see him pissed and aggravated about June's unwillingness to go to the hospital, which she so obviously needs. Her leg swelling wasn't normal, nor was her hand swelling. That alone should have been enough to get her butt to the emergency room. He is sick and tired of her complaining and I get it. Get your ass to the doctor, or go lay down and die. I am not going to sit there and give you kind words. They apparently don't work for June. Every word out of his mouth has been get your ass to the hospital and her saying "but baby, I don't want to go I just need you". My god she is going to seriously be dying and refuse to go.

It's obvious that one of the reasons Pumpkin didn't bounce like her older sisters was to take care of Alanna.  June had a lot of problems way before Geno came in the picture.  Beyond her sketchy past, anyone who dated a man who raped one of her kids doesn't need children.

Geno is trash and probably is abusing June, but she has refused all the help her family and the network has extended to her.  Drugs are something else.

Jennifer is not 200 pounds and the nonsense with her and Sugar Bear is totally out of place in the midst of the semi-real drama surrounding June.

I know this show is scripted but the producers/editors don't even care about continuity anymore.

In the car ride with Doe Doe to her intervention June has all her front teeth, and then when she walks into the house for that intervention she's missing the tooth again. It's disorienting.

And this is from the people who used to care so much about continuity that they made Mama June wear a fat suit in Season 1.

Yes, right up until the ambulance arrived and he told them "ignore them. She don't need no treatment, bro. There's no reason for this." Elsewhere he tells them she is talking about people who aren't there an accusing him of things he hasn't done.

Aside from the fact that he is trying to paint her as delusional, I don't think he really wanted her to go to the hospital because he didn't want them to find out she/he was doing drugs. He knew she'd follow him around and not want to go without him.

If Geno wasn't drugged-out I would agree, that would be annoying. However, that wasn't the dynamic that was going on here.  He can care less about her. He was on drugs and gaslighting her and trying to play the victim. She was inconveniencing him and ruining his high. They were both drugged out and that was just a normal night in their relationship which happened to be filmed. Swelling of the ankles, feet, hands, or lower legs in someone on drugs is usually a side effect of fentanyl or intravenous drug abuse so this was probably not the first time this happened. June was freaking out because the cameras were there and production was ruining her high by holding her accountable.  I'm sure they both don't remember their drug infused fights and wake up every morning like it's Groundhog Day. This is not a one-off rock bottom event. This is their normal.

All of June's kids seemed very happy to be part of the show for years, and when one wanted to leave, she left, when the other wanted to go away to college, she did, using the money she earned from the show, so I don't buy into the "she pimped them out" mantra.

Anyway, Geno's been nasty, jittery and losing tons of weight for a few episodes now. Did none of the crew suspect he was on drugs? Pumpkin did. 

It was pathetic when Pumpkin had to shout at her melting down mother that she was the only one behaving like an adult and she was only 19. That is a lot of pressure on Pumpkin to have to step up when she and Josh are already very new, very young parents and aren't even in the best situation financially.  What about Doe Doe?

And what about blood tests in the hospital? Why wouldn't they do a tox screen? Does she have to sign for that? Is it not called for with what she went to the hospital for? 

I'm ready to see Geno hit the road. He isn't just getting a bad edit, he's a bad person and he clearly is ready to leave anyway. 

Oh, and Jennifug, June still looked better in the red dress. You looked like a collection of huge red tumors.

I am convinced that that much ballyhooed "magazine cover shot" on Star magazine will turn out to be a teeny tiny little photo crammed at the top of the cover, or to the side of it, with the actual cover story taking up 90% of the cover. Jennifug is in for a major letdown.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying.  BUT, the problem is he seems to be so over her and he's just hanging around being cruel.  He acts as if he's repulsed by her (which I totally get!) but if that's the case, he needs to cut the strings and disappear.  I think he's a selfish drug addict as all addicts are, as it's part of the disease and he's just using her at this point.  He's spot on with trying to get her to the hospital, but there's no rosy future ahead for them.  He throws her just enough crumbs to keep her thinking they will end up together.  It's pathetic and hard to watch.

There's a big missing link here: absolutely NO discussion of whatever her hospital test results were, which leads me to believe 1) no strokes and 2) no drugs. Either of those would have been major ammunition for her family in their intervention.

Watching Geno and June staggering around bellowing and wailing was beyond annoying. June at least is consistent in her clingy neediness, but Geno switches back and forth between complete rejection and holding out 'hope'. He actually said if she didn't go to the hospital, he was leaving her. Why wouldn't that have immediately sent her running for the ambulance? And conversely, why would Geno even be (apparently) trying to get out of this relationship? He has no income, and expensive habits, and June is evidently willing to let him do whatever.  

Despite the drama, I was lol'ing at the way her Mary Pickford curls of fake hair were slowly unfurling in the rain. 

Jennifer has a very attractive face (imo) and she looked good above the bust, but she has a very lumpy and mis-shapen lower half, which that too-tight dress didn't flatter. I'm impressed that she doesn't seem to need a walker, because it looks like she's in pain.

I was glad to see that Ella was kept out of this episode entirely.

The hospital tests results are confidential and fall under the HIPPA law so they would not be revealed without June's written consent. I personally don't need the test results to know that she was out of her mind on drugs. 

I saw a side of both Pumpkin and her husband's personality in this episode that impressed me.

I saw quite a few smirks from others at the so called intervention. I know it's all scripted but what I do know is real is the arrest.

The only difference I could see in Jennifer’s face between the photo shoot and her TH was all the makeup she had on for the shoot. IMO, she still has a lot of losing to do in order to be as slim as June was following her surgery.

My heart breaks for Alana. I can’t even imagine having a mother like June. I’m glad she seems to have a strong support system.

I am happy that she has Pumpkin looking out for her but I don't think it's a good long term solution because Pumpkin is young yet and needs to take care of her own family.  I worry about Alana becoming pregnant as a teen like Pumpkin did and their eating habits are terrible. But Pumpkin at this point is much better for Alana than June and it is good of Pumpkin to look out for her sister.

I try my hardest not to look at Gino for too long but he looks heavier to me too 

I do not know who's idea this was to label this behavior as 'dating abuse ', I'm sure it was done to draw sympathy for June to retain viewers.  First of all,  these two are not dating... They are living together.  It is definitely a dysfunctional relationship, which is common when there is drug or alcohol abuse.   I do not believe he is physically abusing her.  He is most definitely verbally abusive and sending her mixed messages.   He yells at her 'get away from me, bitch 'then leans across and gives her a kiss.  They are both obviously loaded on drugs,  which again,  I cannot blame Gino for.  If he was doing them & June started along with him on her own will, unless he's holding her down & forcing the drugs on her. I think a lot of  her personality changed when she lost weight.  

After watching Jennifer wobble around the past couple of weeks, face covered with huge sunglasses (which I think she borrowed from Alana when she was doing her Greta  Garbo imitation) I was expecting her to appear looking gorgeous.   Sorry, except for maybe 100 lbs weight loss, her hair styled & professional make up,  she didn't look much different.  That Gina was going way over board with the compliments.  And Gummy  Bear up there modeling... Just gross!

I was totally underwhelmed also!  I was amazed she is only in her 40's!  She could easily pass for upper 50's.  Kudo's to her on the weight loss, (which I think was over 200 lbs.) but there's no way she belonged in that dress.  There were bulges everywhere.  She has made excellent progress and I hope for her health she sticks with it.

My suspicion is that the season ending will be a cliffhanger, with the big question being what happens with the court case?  Will she go to rehab?   Will she dump Geno the Lumpy Jerk?

I think another part of the cliffhanger is where Alana goes. Big mouth Jennifer was saying something in the previews about how she thinks Alana should live with her and SB. *Shudders.*

The “dating abuse” PSA is a slap in the face to legitimate support groups for abuse victims. I work for one, so I know an idiot when I see one. Producers are as guilty as anyone for showing June’s faked-up life on TV. 

If everyone stopped watching this farce, she might actually get the help she needs. But until that day comes, she’ll continue abusing drugs and allowing herself to be abused in a public forum for the almighty dollar.
