The most annoying thing about these crossovers is that a family member of a regular character always has to die/suffer extreme trauma to service them. It's just not realistic.

Did they really need to do a scene with damn near all the white ppl.. I don't think I've ever seen ruzek burgess Upton and halstead all together.. Lmao that scene was so weird..  So Jay does more bullshit and he probably won't suffer any consequences... Treats Upton like crap so I was glad she called him out.. Only to be reduced to a puddle later on... Ugh

So it's official, Atwater is the only truly likeable character on this show.

Jay got that privilege if you know what I mean. Yeah he annoyed me tonight. And I wanted that officer that he snatched that radio from to knock his head off.

I’ve tried, I really have but I just cannot stand Upton. She’s not it and she has to go. Sooner rather than later. It’s a constant annoying stream of “don’t do this” and “why are you doing that” at every single turn and its just too much. She acts like everyone’s mother and not their coworker. I hate that they made her the female lead and would have rather they elevated Burgess. 

Its honestly a joke how no one in Intelligence follows orders. I seriously have to laugh. Jay was absolutely ridiculous going after Daniel alone. He deserved to get shot. Maybe more. 

It’s not my favorite one, but definitely another great One Chicago crossover.

I thought she was ok.. If not stuck in the rut the show has put her in as the sensible partner.. She's had to talk down Jay like a million times it seems.. She had to try and rein in Ruzek last week.. She's had to do it with burgess.. She's even had to try it with Voight.. The only time she wasn't all cool and collected was when the baddie was the one who almost killed her or something..  And I truly hope her outburst at the end of this episode wasn't dome kind of foreshadowing of something tween her and Jay... He's less interesting than cement mix and has had some alarming outbursts over the last year or so... 

 

Still think ahe ahoukd partner up with atwater... But I think I'm gonna take my own advice from other shows and stop wishing for something it seems the writers aren't gonna give me( like Kara explaining why she just up and dumped Jimmy on Supergirl..Or Annie and Troy on community  Or for Lucifer to treat Amenadiel with a modicum of respect... Or for everyone on suits to stop walking around yelling and glancing at the first page of a blue folder and knowing everything there is to know about a case).. It can really mess with your enjoyment

Yep, I edited my post to add some more context but this is exactly the issue and its so old already. This is all she is. The one that’s always telling someone what not to do or how not to behave. Develop her character or let her go.

I love his voice (I love those kind of voices. Hi, Jeff Bridges!?). Jason Beghe said he was in a very bad car accident years ago, was intubated for a long time, and kept pulling the tube out, hence the voice. 

Where were the Halstead boys at the end? Couldn’t have been in their dad’s place since it would have been ruined by the fire, yet Jay found those mementos.

I always find it hilarious that Lindsay sounds just like him, like she picked it up from him when he took her in.  Anyone know if the actress talks like that in real life?

Thanks for the info.  Makes sense.  With how I hear it, I find it uncomfortable to listen to, like I’m always clearing MY throat——as if that will help his voice.

So Jay does more cheap and only gets "tough love" from Voight. I think Upton and Kevin would be great partners. Neither one of them would have to babysit their hot head partners for one, since they seem to be the only responsible adults on the team. So are the writers trying to sell us a Ruzek, Upton, Halstead triangle? If they are, they need to just end it now.

I’m new to Chicago PD. I’ve been binge watching it and am just about caught up to this season. How I miss Erin and Al! They really made the show IMO. 

And I have a feeling that this will be an unpopular opinion but... Burgess bugs the crap out of me. I can’t seem to warm up to her. Maybe it’s the forlorn/sad/confused look that’s on her face most of the time?

I don't think so. The father's apt was 23C. They found him and his friend in an apt. on 25 which was burned out. Therefore, his apt was not above the fire.

The apt. that Jay and the doc were in looked pristine.

They were hinting at him and the autopsy lady a while back and nothing ever came of it. I do think its time that Atwater has a love interest. No way he'd be single this long in real life lol

I used to notice that Voight, Lindsey, Al, and Atwater all have kind of deep and/or raspy voices.

Apparently, if they obey orders and follow the law, they can't get anything done.  So far be it for the people who enforce the law to obey the law, that's just to much to expect from police officers {face palm}.

I've been posting here for awhile now, so as most people probably know, I started watching this show just because I liked Jay.  But c'mon... if he doesn't get repercussions next week for his actions this week, then this show is a joke.  I think he should at least get desk duty, if not a suspension.  I get that he was grieving, but he was completely reckless and disobeyed direct orders.

And caught a mass murderer.  Realistically, that's going to be part of the balance too, as well as the public relations aspect.  They will balance his behavior (reckless and inexcusable in so many ways), with the fact he caught the guy, who was doing a pretty good job of spotting them too early and running where no other cop seems to be stationed to chase, and if the press decides to make him a hero of the day--injured in the line of duty catching the man who caused that massive fire and was running a drug/sex operation--they can't do too much, since the public would want to know why and they'd have to air a lot of dirty laundry to explain it.

Why should there be consequences for his actions this week when no one has ever had to face them before? Remember last year, Ruzek's punishment for taking off was to be busted down to patrol and they couldn't even make that last a whole episode.

Hell, the writers can't even seem to remember what personality they give the characters from one week to the next it would be fanciful to think they could carry this storyline for more than a week.

Hank acted like an actual supervisor scolding Halstead at the shootout scene. He disobeyed a direct order and almost got himself killed and/or might have helped facilitate an escape even if indirectly. Upton gave him more than enough slack. Everyone has to realize Hank and the entire unit are under extreme scrutiny. By the book.

It was kind of bs to bring in the one brother/son knowing at the time he was removed from the family business.

This! And considering that Al's daughter just died in a fire a year ago, it would be REALLY unlikely to have his colleague's family member also die in one.

I used to root for Atwater and Burgess to get together, but that was back in S1 when they were partners and good friends...not so much now.

Awkward as the subject may be, I'd imagine there might have also been some scuttlebutt about the true nature of his relationship with Lindsay over the years. We viewers know how purely paternal he's always been to her, but I can kind of see how ugly people might view various situations.

I don't get all the hate on Upton. I think she's a brilliant actress and certaonly seems to be the only level head. Well except for Atwater.
