You know, there's a parallel between the Negan beat-down episode and the episode where Gareth and his Terminus buds get beat-down by Rick et al. Savagery. Bloody. No holds barred. No gun shots to the head, but a pure and complete beat down to death. Which leads to a question of right and wrong. I hate to say it, but I think an argument can be made either way for either of these occasions.

So is this bible story kill/maim your son lol no wait jk ripoff situation an actual thing? I am feeling some kind of way about this. He just derailed everything Rick has worked for and killed two of his group, anything else is overkill. No pun intended. I am totally desensitized so I don't mean this from a too much gore perspective--it's just getting ridiculous.  Like what's next, he's going to pull Judith's first tooth? He's evil, we get it.

But he has a cool leather jacket and a sweet smile. (I guess that's what Kirkman dreams about at night.)

Okay, so did you guys watch the promo that Fox International posted early? AMC pulled the videos off the air but not before someone else filmed them and put them up. (Of course, AMC pulling them might have been a publicity stunt.) You can see Daryl, Rick, and Michonne in the promo.

The other big video "leak" is the footage of Negan killing Maggie. SHE is the one he says is "taking it light a champ" and it clearly shows him bashing her head in with Glen crying and trying to get to her. Kind of a chilling clip. Now, while that video isn't fake (it's not something the fans edited together in any way) that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be the scene they USE. They could have filmed that as a separate thing to kind of throw people off and they're "leaking" it at the last minute as a means of trying to let the interest build for tomorrow night.

At this point, it doesn't even matter to me who it is. I believe that it is Abe and Glenn based on the spoilers, and I will miss Glenn and even feel a bit sorry for Abraham. I just don't understand how the show thinks that playing Negan up in all the promos is the way to go. How is that fun? How is it something to look forward to?  The show could have spent an entire season on civilization building in Alexandria, and I think it would have been better for it.

I agree, absolutely.

I have no excitement at all for this new season. I'd much rather be watching Westworld at 9 tonight, but I know my husband wants to watch TWD.

Didn't someone say that they filmed more than one death, to throw off spoilers? (I didn't see the promo.)

Spoiling the Dead (or whatever their name is) said it's an alternate scene. They are sticking with Abe and Glenn.

More gaming the audience instead of quality storytelling.

I heard the show has been renewed. I don't know anything about actors' contracts. Not that it means anything, but this is a rare show in that actors' contracts don't make the news. We've all heard of other ensemble shows like Friends and Big Bang Theory where all the actors get together and demand an equally big pay raise.

Yep. Also I heard on the radio the other day from Tyler Perry himself that TWD is under contract to film at his studios here in Atlanta for the next three years. Now that contract could include FTWD, but I think the show is going to be around at least until season 10, unless the ratings completely tank before that time or they  lose several of the actors that draw viewers i.e.  AL, NR, DG etc. to the show.

Count me among those who aren't watching tonight. Will DVR it and maybe watch later. The world is already too depressing with this election etc. and I really don't want to see my favorite character (Glenn) killed. Would be just as bummed if it was Maggie. I love the two of them. I don't love the sort of romanticism they are painting Negan with. I'm a big fan of JDM, but no. Not for me. I'll keep an eye on the forum though...I don't post much here but love all of the insights!

Yeah.  It is on my DVR to tape, but not watching live.  I can't.

I didn't watch lat season's finale live either.  I couldn't.  And knowing how it ended, I still haven't.

If the show goes the way the reports suggest, I dunno. I just want to watch the characters I have become attached to try to survive this apocalypse.  And if they come across a badder, meaner group then deal with it. Sure they will take some losses, but damn this just sounds like torture porn.

Seriously? Are we supposed to be excited about the brutal killing of (at least) one  major character?

Conversely, my husband was THRILLED to find out I don't want to watch it tonight.  lol  He only watches it to humor me.  He's not emotionally invested in who dies, like I am, but he's hated the Negan scenario from the get-go.  I told him the spoilers today, how it goes down, and he rolled his eyes.  "You would kill RICK, period.  You kill the leader and take the followers.  THAT SHOW IS SO DUMB!"  ~Mr Peach

I hate to give TPTB any credit, especially since they seem to be glorifying Negan and his smarmy smiling ways, but Rick is left with a mess. He will be down three key people. Rosita will be grieving. Maggie is pregnant, sick and in grief. (And sent to the hilltop.)

Morgan and Carol are on their walk-about, as are Tara and Heath (who will probably not be seen again).

There will be Spencer, Eugene and Father Pee Pants from the B (maybe C) team.

So, Rick will gave Carl, Michonne, Sasha, and Aaron (even though, personally, I think he's on the B team). Oh, and Judith. Can she shoot yet?

Talk about a banged-up team. (Sorry if I forgot someone.) And Negan has many, many thugs.

Are we going to have to go all season under Negan's thumb, listening to his whistling taunts? That's just bull shit.

The more I think about it, the more pissed I get at Jesus for not giving Rick more of a head's up about Negan.

This.  I was just saying this to my husband today.  Is it a plot hole or plot contrivance that Jesus led Rick to believe that his crew could successfully neuter Negan?

I totally think TPTB aren't clever enough to have written it that way.

Ok, that makes more sense. The writers would never have the balls to kill off Daryl.

I have such an irrational hatred for Kirkman and Gimple, two people I've never met and never will meet.  They have dumbed down these characters so much to move their stupid, poorly thought out plots along, especially Rick.

That sounds ENTIRELY rational to me.

Personally, I've always thought of Kirkman as a hack who got lucky when Darabont breathed life into his adolescent fantasy. Gimple has simply proven to be the most malleable of the showrunners so far...

I've enjoyed your posts in the Westworld forum. I thought it would be perfect to watch Westworld at 9, then TWD, commercial free, afterwards. Much to my disappointment and surprise, Mr gato does not like Westworld. Which really sucks because I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I don't get it - I turned him onto both Game of Thrones, and Homeland, and he loved them both. So I will begrudgingly watch a beloved character get killed by a juvenile evil cartoon character on TWD instead.

Eta: He hated the governor. I can't see how he's gonna like this baseball bat wielding evil asshole. Hubby is spoiler free, but I've already warned him that I am PISSED OFF with this whole cliffhanger thing, and who likely is gonna die, and this whole Negan thing in general.

Well, judging from the live chat thread, it was as horrible as we expected it to be, and also boring for the first 20 minutes, which is also to be expected from TWD.  So glad I had spoilers to save me from this disaster.

So, now The Spoiling Dead on facebook is pulling back from further spoilers because of people spreading them around.  Sounds like they are going to move to some pay-per-view system.

Hi, @peach.  What a flustercuck, eh?  Just to clarify, TSDF is not taking down their page.  They are going to transition to a (still free) closed facebook group though, probably this week, and people will have to re-join and be accepted, as I understand it.  They're trying to get rid of some major league iceholes who've been ruining the page.  These are people who've taken TSDF spoilers and actually posted them on AMC's official  page, and on the individual facebook pages of cast members.  They've also taken TSDF spoiler posts and copied them to websites, fan forums, and other facebook pages that explicity do not want or allow spoilers.   Just to add to the misery, they spend an excessive amount of time on TSDF page namecalling and abusing the moderators.  It was untenable.

Okay, the end of the Talking Dead showed a clip for next week, and it's Carol and Morgan at The Kingdom.  So that is NEXT episode, not episode 3.  I will watch that one.  Also they were growing lots of food, so apparently they aren't total idiots.  I hope Carol and Morgan never leave.  lol

I wonder if that was always the plan or if someone decided they had to reorder the episodes.  Gimple was pushing real hard that it was a funny episode.  Seemed like maybe they know that they went too far with the gore and misery and Negan.

Well, I did watch some pieces of the episode.  I FF through all the gruesomeness.  I watched the ending scenes.  Lauren Cohan was excellent.  Carl's tenderness toward Maggie made me tear up.  Anyway, yeah, Jesus did not do them a solid by encouraging Rick to go after some Saviors.  And he went on that mission at that outpost - surely he knew that was just a handful of that group.  OTOH, that mission was because their people were supposed to cut Gregory's head off for Negan.  That might have been a clue.  That being said, I would think the Hilltop would be getting some retribution for Rick's activities also.

Everyone is so excited  about the Tiger,. Whoopeee. another animal for them to kill for emotional bs. It does imply that the tiger gets it's 50 pounds  of meat a week  from walkers. Where are all the deer , Rabbits and  what about assorted carrion eaters like pigs, coyotes, and bears. the walkers couldn't catch them  - forget about the wild Boars.....I want to see a huge buzzard swoop down and fly away with a head.

I'm not posting in the episode thread yet, because I'm just past the deaths, and Rick in the walker herd, and I'm pissed. This is not enjoyable. I'm sad that the spoilers were correct, as well. Although I didn't want anyone to go. Not for this character.

Well, damn.  I did say I would at least still check in with these two and the yet another new group of people to see what that was about.  Thinking that wouldn't happen until episode 3 meant that I could skip this next week entirely and maybe cleanse my palate enough to take another crack at wading through this mess.

Anyone know what the deal was with Michael Cudlitz at the end of Talking Dead.  It seemed like he was reminding Gimple to promote some storyline that he was involved in,  Did they film any flashbacks or fantasies they haven't shown yet?

Or did I completely misunderstand?

I thought that the preview introduction said something about previews from the upcoming "season" of The Walking Dead, so can we be sure that they were showing clips from next week?

Did anyone else catch that and/or know if the preview scene was from next week's episode or not?

At the end of the TD episode they showed a clip for the next week, that showed Morgan pushing Carol around in a wheel chair at the Kingdom.  They do that every episode, and it's usually the opening scene of the next episode.  At the end of the ACTUAL show, TWD, they show snippets of the "season" as you said.  And Gimple made a point to promise the next epi would be funny and enjoyable, and would feature a tiger, and King Ezekiel.  He seemed semi-desperate for people to watch it again and not turn away after the horror of the premiere.

Ah, thank you. I got them mixed up in all of the chaos that was the show last night, and the fact that I didn't watch most of the Talking Dead, but did happen to catch the end... and so confused the two previews in my head.

Easy to do.  The only reason I'm sure about it is because Gimple made such a point of what it was about.  After dragging everything out and being secretive and tricksy for months, now he's like "there will be morgan and carol and a kingdom and a tiger and a king!  Please don't quit!"

Wanted to chime in on Jesus.  I am pretty sure Jesus didn't know much about Negan's group beyond what he shared.  If you watch him telling Rick and crew who Negan was, he says some of his men came and killed one of us.  Thus, Negan himself may not have been bothered to show up for the shake down at the fighterless Hilltop.  They seem to be setting it up that Gregory knew and was the dubious party, but not Jesus.  The guy who did the regular deliveries only knew about the one delivery spot.

Well, this post is definitely not spoilery but I just wanted to mention that TPTB got what they wanted from their cliffhanger.  HUGE ratings for the season premiere.

I can see this show lasting 10 or so years because apparently we will watch any poo they throw at us.  Peach, the youtube clip you posted on another thread made me cry.  RIP Glen.

As far as re-posting spoilers, sharing with spoiler lovers is great! Be sure to credit where it came from. Posting on nonspoiler sites is a no-no and re-posting on personal profiles is discouraged. It won't stop the problem, but it will help. Thanks everyone!

Here are the detailed spoilers for 7x02 "The Well."

Spoiler

1. How are Morgan and Carol greeted at the Kingdom?

Ezekiel is intrigued by Morgan and appoints him the mentor of a young man named Benjamin. Carol continues her Suzy Homemaker act, but Ezekiel catches her when she drops her facade. He seems to understand her.

2. Do the Kingdom people know about Negan and the Saviors?

Yes. Ezekiel has a passive approach and goes along with the Saviors' demands in order to keep the peace. Richard disagrees with Ezekiel and seems eager to get rid of the Saviors.

3. Will we see Shiva the Tiger?

Yes, Shiva roars into the series in dramatic fashion. We learn that Ezekiel was a zookeeper and saved Shiva when the ZA began.

4. What's going on with the pigs?

Morgan and the Kingdomers round up some feral pigs that have been eating walker remains. The plan is to slaughter these pigs and give them to the Saviors for their offering.

5. How is Carol both physically and mentally?

Carol is initially wheeled around in a wheelchair. She is healing throughout the episode and overall she physically appears to be ok. However, mentally she seems to be in the same headspace as last season. She doesn't seem interested in returning to Alexandria and wants to be alone.

More spoilers for 7X02 "The Well"

Spoiler

Q&A Episode 7.2 - "The Well" - Part 2 via TSDF Army

One of our sources was kind enough to do a follow up Q&A. Here you go, buttercups!

1. What are Carol and Morgan's reactions to Shiva?

We don't see Morgan's initial reaction, but Carol follows along with Ezekiel's little game and even calls him "Your highness." But, afterwards, gives Morgan hell and calls them a bunch of fruit loops.

2. What is up with the creepy house? Why does Carol go there?

That is in the opening sequence when they are making their way to the Kingdom. They are attacked by walkers, and Carol begins hallucinating. The walkers' faces are being replaced with what were their human faces. Carol sees what she thinks is an old woman in that house, but then, she snaps out of it and realizes it is just a walker. Carol later returns to the house and puts down that walker.

3. Do we see much of Shiva in this episode?

No, not much outside of that scene where Carol is introduced to Ezekiel.

4. How does the episode end?

With Carol making a "compromise" with Ezekiel of "leaving but not leaving" The Kingdom. So, she decides to make that creepy house right outside the Kingdom her home.

5. What can you tell us about new characters Benjamin and Richard?

Richard is a total bad-ass, but Benjamin is young and green. Ezekiel assigns Morgan to train Benjamin with the staff.

So a blatant attempt by TPTB to lure back all the fans that say they are finished. Sadly, it will work. Then, by next week viewers will be ready to see how the others are coping with the horror of last week. More horrors from the Governor, no wait the terminus whackos or wait Negan- they are starting to run together. Then tons of brooding by Rick due to Lori's, no wait, Judiths fake death, no wait Glen and Abe's. Carl will prove to have more maturity than his father (see Lori's death, Judith's fake out). Darryl will brood some more (see EVERY episode) because he caused Glen' s death. Rins, lather, repeat.
