I think that Catelynn needs to admit to herself that she gave Carly up to keep Tyler. And then address why she would allow a punk ass like Tyler to have so much control over her. And then get into how even though she did get a second chance at motherhood it kills her that her bio daughters who are so alike are not really sisters. How can the people that know her sit around and be all gee what is eating Catelynn? Even back in the first reunion Tyler's own sister said she gave Carly up to keep Tyler. Cate herself said that she wished Carly was there when Tyler had his panties in a twist that time. But whenever Tyler is acting like boyfriend of the year her tune changes to what the adoption agency would say. she knows the truth and cannot swallow it JMO

Then top it all off with how Tyler's smug ass does things like sit there on his Hawaiian vacation nonchalantly talking about having more kids? The same guy who jumped on her the minute Carly came out and started saying we can do this and wanted Carly out of the room? Now that more kids equal more storyline Tyler wants them. Cate is a hot mess and she seemed way more together mentally during the 16 and pregnant episode. He doesn't give a fuck about what kind of mom cate is or anything beyond money. He didn't want to pay child support for Carly and now he wants to get money for more seasons of the show.

Do you think that the marriage will continue after the therapy of Catelynn ? I hope it does and that Tyler doesn't cheat on her (in a sexual way) ( Im sorry for my english, it's not my first language). Catelynn is an amazing women, inside out and everybody else seems to more focus on Tyler. She's dependent on him emotionnally, i don't think that she's stupid or naive , she see his flaws but she stays with him because she has issues from her past. I know what i'm talking about because i have the same problem as Catelynn because of my childhood and my teenager years.

An amazing woman would remove that which is causing her such distress that she requires drugs (legal or illegal) and in patient therapy to deal with. She will be away at therapy, come back likely feeling rejuvenated and then insert herself right back into the situation she sought escape from. How that is helpful is a mystery to me.

 

She has the means to get the finest help available and a huge network of people that work for MTV who have no doubt seen more of the bad side of things than the viewers have. That she seems ignorant that any real help exists out there is hard to believe. If she chooses to put her fingers in her ears and go la-la-la-la any time someone tries to get her to face reality, there comes a time when your predicament no longer garners sympathy.

My thoughts exactly. 

As much as I hope she will, I don't think she'll come out of therapy thinking less of Tyler. At most she'll learn tips to get Tyler to help with Nova more, but I think therapy will focus on the tough childhood, unresolved Carly issues and then struggles with having a newborn/replacement baby.  Unless her therapist has watched the show, they will have no reason to question Catelynn when she says "I'm just so glad I have my amazing husband Tyler around to support me." (and I'm sure she will say that) and really, in Catelynn's life, he seems good. Other than seeing glimpses of BrandonandTheresa, Cate has no healthy relationships to look up to. Tyler's small jabs, having a temper and commenting on her weight is nothing compared to what she's experienced. The sun shines from Tyler's ass in Catelynn's mind.  We all know how Butch and April treated her, and Nick's dad was a crackhead who pinned her down and choked her. So Tyler looks great in comparison.

Unfortunately a diagnosis for mental health is almost always made after the first visit because it has to have a diagnosis code to bill insurance. It's one of the things I hated when I was doing clinical care and all my work had to be billable time. While there was usually something that could be diagnosed at the end of the first session, I hated that I had to put that level of judgment on someone after meeting with them for at most an hour.

As for Catelynn being in treatment, good for her. I think that she needs time away from everything in order to truly understand where her issues come from. When she says things like "I don't know why I have anxiety" "My childhood was okay", etc...it's clear just how much she is in denial about the trauma in her past and how it has shaped the decisions she has made and continues to make.

I also never get too judgmental about any of the TM girls (or guys) not going out and getting jobs. They have a job that pays them a crap load of money. Teen Mom is a full time job. It is disappointing that Catelynn and I guess Tyler (but honestly...I don't give a flip about him) couldn't have used this time to focus on their future and their education,but there is no need nor probably a want to go out and get the kind of jobs they would qualify for. If I am being 100% honest...and I am pretty well educated and have a pretty decent job....if someone decided to pay me $250K to follow me around and film me, I'd probably consider ditching my job or at least I would consider doing it part time, etc.

I do think a lot of it is denial, but I don't think it's even as simple as that. I think Cate is so naive, she doesn't even realize, not even deep down, that there is anything wrong with her relationship. She may be able to talk about health issues, adoption issues, etc. But Tyler is still going to come out smelling like roses. She really has little to compare her marriage to. What, Butch and April? Tyler is a star compared to them! He is very good at saying and doing so many "right" things, that I'm not sure she'll ever realize how destructive and manipulative he really is.

I would never put my life out there on television for $300k a year. My privacy means a lot more to me. I also do not need that money. My spouse and I own a business. It is the best investment I made while working for over 20 years in the courts.

Cate and Tyler can enjoy their mundane lives in Butt Creek as they sqaunder their earnings and end up with nothing to show for it when this show ends. They have nothing to show after 7 years.

If these people don't want to work because they're pulling in enough money to support themselves - fine. But they are bored. BORED, I tell you. People weren't meant to just lay around all day. It's not good for your physical or mental health. They are too young to be living like this. Excellent point Ghoulina. My parents retired 10 years ago and my Mom is severely disabled and they find tons of stuff to do on a daily basis. They actually live in a much smaller town than C&T do. It would help Caitlynn if she broadened her world. She is old before her time.

If these people had even half a brain, the money from this show would be saved and invested and they would take this time they don't have to work a 9 to 5 and get their education or learn their trade. Legit colleges who train students for the medical field, and place their students in externships out in the community, routinely perform background checks. Some do drug testing. I have no clue how Jenelle could have passed those things.

MTV is showing the first episodes of the OG crew. Cate and Tyler's episode breaks my heart all over again. It reminds me of how much Cate's toxic environment was such a major factor in her decision to give up her baby.

Not sure why I choose to watch this on my day off. It is just a reminder of how much these two have pissed away by not pursuing anything in 7 years. The sloth-like lifestyle will not be paying the bills in the future.

I do hope that Catelynn gets the help she needs.  I hope they address her weight issue. She's gained easily 50+ pounds (I'm thinking more like 70) since she became pregnant and looks very unhealthy.  I was watching some older episodes which consists of her eating pizza while sitting on that ugly couch.  She looked horrible at her wedding, though part of it was the bad make-up.  No way is she happy when she has gained all that weight and Tyler is still as thin as a broom.

ITA Tyler isn't looking after Nova while Catelynn is away. That's why, when he took her to Arizona with him, he felt the need to post about normal things babies do. He has no clue how they act because he's never taken care of one and thinks he's revealing mystical secrets to his delusional fans. More proof he's just a father on paper.
