Meh. It was bound to happen sooner or later. I just don't get why these girls all think it should make national headlines whenever they get knocked up. But I guess now we know what angle she's gonna play on the new episodes of TM. Unless she's lying about having PCOS, I can't say I blame her for being surprised. I've known a few women who struggled for years and years to get pregnant while suffering from it.

I have PCOS with 3 kids, including totally natural conceptions. Most women I know with PCOS eventually ended up pg and most without extreme measures. (I participated in a PCOS infertility support group for many years so I'm quite familiar with the topic.) In no way is a dx a license to skip birth control and if she's saying doctors told her that, I don't believe it! In fact, birth control pills are a common treatment for the symptoms and the wonky cycles make it even smarter to use birth control. You never know where you are in your cycle unless you're charting them.

Thank you. I was really struggling with the words. I find it disingenuous that this pregnancy is a surprise if she is so in touch with her fertility. I find it very hard to believe any doctor would question the fertility of a young woman with a child without a failure to conceive.

Her previous MO was to start courses at a local college and then drop out because things got too hard or she didn't have enough time with Bentley (or her current boyfriend) and she also used to tour around giving inspirational speeches about preventing teenage pregnancy. I am pretty sure she still hasn't finished college or found herself a real job. That guy Taylor she's dating is a professional Motocross racer, so she probably just follows him around like a lapdog. I dunno if he makes decent money, but if he does I doubt Maci will have any motivation to finish college or find a real career.

What is it with these Teen Moms and Dads and their vehicles?  Kail, Chelsea's sperm donor, Maci's Ex, and now Maci.  Farrah's ex died and Farrah later got busted for DWI.  Somehow Jenelle has managed to stay on the road during all of her psychotic screaming episodes.

I think that too, but it would be really nice if her stupid friends weren't always telling her how in love with her Ryan still is and how every fight they have is started because Ryan is jealous of whatever boyfriend Maci has at the moment. That one brunette in particular is always smirking about how Ryan is not over her, which Maci always denies, but with this smug little smile on her face, like, go on, tell me again how this guy is in love with me. Really, her friends are the biggest part of the problem.

Brooklynista, so in agreement here. As far back as 16 & Pregnant I thought that having the baby was less the problem than being around Maci was. I get that he was not all hands on in the early days, but sadly that can be said of a lot of young dads. The going out was to get away from her.

I am sure his parents do a lot, but this latest with him taking Bentley out of town showed that it is not all here's your grandson, I'm off. Then he actually got down to one of the more unpleasant tasks of parenting and stood firm with his kid. Maci caves to Bentley. Except of course for the time he was ruining her fun and she took him to the rest room to beat his ass.

You're right, she spanked him, she wasn't beating him. But I still think the line, "he was ruining her fun so she took him to the ladies room and beat his ass" is very funny, even if somewhat misleading.

 

Maci did look like she was gaining some weight in one of the more recent seasons (and by gaining weight I mean she looked to be size 2-4 instead of a 0 or 00), but yeah, she does have a very slender body type. I was so jealous in the series premiere of Teen Mom when Maci and Farrah had babies under 6 months and were incredibly slender.

Beat his ass is just the phrase my friend who spanked used. She would tell the funniest stories and end them with "so I beat his ass". It didn't happen often, and she always felt horrible when it came to that being her last resort. The phrase always stuck with me because of how she told the stories, long after the fact.

Me too. I'm still unsure about wether or not I was still suppose to "look pregnant" after I gave birth. Apparently most women's abdomen muscles get hard and take a while to relax? I don't know. I did smarten up and bring a pair of my husband's jeans to wear home after our second child. His pants had more room in the crotch area.

I would also say Maci "beat his ass" as an expression, too. She really just followed through with a consequence. Unlike the bed time situation we saw her cave in on in this last episode. Ironically enough, we also saw Ryan follow through and not cave in that episode. And I laughed when Ryan told Bentley it was time to go and he said "where we going?" "Nashville". "I ain't going to Nashville." "The hell you ain't!" Ryan got that boy's attention and followed it up with getting down on his level, eye to eye, and told him he wasn't going to tell his Dad no. He didn't have to like it and that's ok.

That where I'm confused about what Maci needs to talk about. Of course Dad is going to be the fun one. And he doesn't have to parent the same way. And so what if Mimi gets a bunch of the time? That child is loved by a bunch of people. No way is the right way and everyone will make mistakes. Save the bitching for when Bentley is 13. It's just petty at 5. Set a good foundation and look at the positives now so that the teen years are easier to navigate as a team.

See, I think Maci is just very immature. She seems pretty much stunted at 17-18 (about when Teen Mom started). I mean, this was one of the few girls on the 16 and Pregnant series, who, upon getting pregnant, was like, wow, I better get my ass in gear. She took extra classes to graduate early, she was working to save up some money, etc. And there seems to be such a vast difference in Teen Mom S1 Maci and what Maci is now.

 

One of the biggest problems I can see is that she surrounds herself with Yes People. And unlike Farrah and Jenelle, Maci is tolerable enough (and provides enough benefits, like paying her friends' rent and vacations) that she's not constantly alienating people- unlike Farrah, who had a new "best friend" every episode, because even TV time for the biggest famewhore in the world wasn't payment enough to put up with Farrah for long. So, at any given time, she's got a group of long time friends who are telling her she's right and egging her on to confront Ryan with her pearls of wisdom. Her parents occasionally give her good advice, but seeing as how she hasn't needed them either financially or for babysitting for a number of years, she's not forced to listen to them.

 

I do think after Maci's 15 min are up (which, granted, those 15 min have lasted way longer than I would have predicted 5 years ago), and Maci has to buckle down and work for a living (because you know these girls aren't thinking longterm with their current salaries and investing/saving appropriately), and her friends get married and have their own kids and mature themselves, Maci will eventually revert back to the way she was before the cameras, and grow up.

I think Maci is was trying to get a spin off. She was supposed to get one before but she was too boring and it just did no take off. So she got with Kyle 2.0 and got knocked up.

And I read Maci didn't even want to let Bentley participate in the show due to Farrarh. Bitch please! She doesn't want him on a show with a porn star but he can have a mom who was a teen mom and still fucks and sucks multiple men and has a different man every season. How many stepdads and uncles does Bentley have? You worried about Farrah but you keep bringing all these men around your son. You probably fucked more men than Farrah but Farrah did it on camera and still probably got less bodies than you.

Hope you didn't mind my highlighting that one part of your comment.  Everything you said is so, so true.  I have to smirk a little, though, when I think about that magic age of twelve -- the flashing #12, a warning signal of what's to come --.  By the time these kids are twelve the disagreements might very well be more along the lines of, "Isn't he YOURS this weekend?"
