I think out of the remaining upper vets last year, she was the best at dcc style. Lacey only stepped it up after the whole mess so it was too late-but during her first 3 years she was too 'lyrical'. And I'm not even a Jenna fan (and tbh, i'm glad Kash replaced her). Out of the current squad, i wouldn't be mad with Maddie in the triangle, but I don't think she fits in with Lacey and Kash. I'd rather see her in Robin or cersten's spots.

I have to say that I don't think Madeleine is all that great as a dcc, but at the same time i'm so proud because of that comment AND because she came back looking (and acting) completely different. She seems so genuine nice and happy so I'm glad she's getting recognition-even if she's not my favorite.

They do look soft but they are also next to two girls with rock star bodies :) which makes it even more apparent.

Have I told you what I think of the "iconic" blouse?? Yuck- so ridiculous looking. It was lovely in the 80's- I'm sure. Looks like something off the mark down rack at Belk.

I don’t think Erica or Maddie look great in the giant wall photos. You have to be pretty much stunning with perfect bone structure to look good that big. DCC Wise.... Ashton Torres, Abigail Klein, or Kelsey L come to mind. Eveb then, it’s a freaking gigantic close up picture.

You make very good point. But this is just one picture of probably thousands Kelly and Judy were able to pick from. Who knows how many bad photos they had to scrap in order to choose this one (and as other posters have mentioned this photo isn't even that great).

I think Miranda is gorgeous! Definitely one of the prettiest on the squad. The only DCC that ever looked "fat" to me were Selina (only in that one episode clip where she turned and did a hair flip in slow mo lol) and Allie when she auditioned and got cut. Someone here even tried to blame that on scoliosis haha. Scoliosis?

They had enough black people this year.  Once the quota is met, they cut the remaining ones.  She should file a lawsuit, seriously.

Some of the vets that retired last year looked out of shape to me in season 11. Of course that was the season that I don't think they brought anyone's weight up. Maybe because it was some of their top dancers like JennK and Megan C and Melissa. I don't know if they were called out but they just didn't air it on the show for some reason. I think Jenn looked the worst to me and also Claire during show group auditions. I remember at the beginning of season 12, they showed the vets that retired and showed them dancing to "Pretty Girls" and Jenn looked so soft there. So that annoyed me that they didn't show people being called out that season, since there looked to be so many. Idk if that's been brought up before, although I know people like to talk about Megan being bigger that year.

Even if you're 100% correct (and I'm not saying you are), Keyra would have a REALLY hard time proving that she was cut specifically BECAUSE of her race.  I can't think of a single lawyer worth the title who would take on the Dallas Cowboys franchise for something like that.  Kelli and Charlotte would not only have to SAY on camera that they're cutting Keyra because of her race, but it would have to be in writing on her notes and in numerous other locations among SO many other things that it isn't funny.  Frankly, Kelli and Charlotte are too smart to step into that trap.  There are far too many other justifiable reasons they could have used to cut Keyra that racism, with all its history and thorny legal issues, isn't a likely, even a remote, possibility.  I could be wrong but this particular issue isn't likely to ever show up in court, much less as a lawsuit.

Wow. That’s a surprise from Miss Erika! Hope the results of that suit also hit the news, but I imagine they’ll settle if only to keep things quiet  

I just took a training course at work for managing non exempt employees, and clocking time for social media posts was specifically noted as work that needed to be paid. Interesting that it was called out in her suit.

I’ll be disappointed if the DCC don’t correctly and fairly pay their employees. Seems like too much of a risk to mess about with that type of thing, especially since the show makes it so high profile. I would like to see their hourly rate go up, but it’s definitely not bad for a part time job.

It's not really a part-time job though... The article said not only did she work 40 hours, but she worked more than that. It's so hard to have a job other than "dance teacher" or "exercise instructor" when being a DCC because it really is a full time job.

I like Keyra’s sass, and I don’t think she’s fat, just not built like what they want to see as a DCC. However, I never have thought she has the right look. Screw it, I don’t think she’s pretty at all. Young and sort of perky cute, about on the same level as Madeline, Gina, Amy L, Savannah, Etc. Wipe off all the makeup and salon hair, and  there’s nothing special.

Especially when they teach Camp DCC during the day and have to go to TC that same day

Interesting. This lawsuit seems more strategic than some of the others that we have seen. It's still an uphill battle, but it's much smarter to compare the way she was paid/treated to the mascot, than to the football players, as some other lawsuits have done. (I'n basing this purely on the article - I haven't read the actual lawsuit). I still think it's a long shot, but I'll be watching this closely. Im sure if the organization thinks she has even an outside shot at getting to discovery, they will settle out of court. 

This is also interesting in light of some ex-DCCs acting like everything was just peaches and cream for the DCCs - obviously not for everyone!

I agree that Keyra would have a very hard time proving her case and even stating a viable claim, but a plaintiff does not need direct evidence of discrimination to win a discrimination lawsuit. A person can win a case with indirect evidence. Now, if she did have direct evidence (i.e. K&J stating on camera or in writing that their decision was based on her race), then plaintiff's attorneys would be breaking down the door to take that case and file a charge with the EEOC, however that is almost never the case.

Bet tonight's a filming night because on another thread a poster shared that cassie filmed practice and said she loved pony tail nights.... So i think on the days they film it's a night for full glam so they portray the game day ready requirement

Agree. Kelli may have shot herself in the foot by what she says at every first team meeting- she goes on and on about how they need to be 100% committed, it’s a huge time commitment, if you can’t devote your entire self to this, here’s the door. Blah blah blah

 

Quite frankly, I think they should pay these girls a salary and give them benefits. It’s a full time job. Or at least pay them a fair hourly wage plus benefits. Starbucks gives their part time employees benefits. I just expect better from the “world class” Dallas Cowboys. ?

They probably have worker's comp in cases where a girl gets injured during TC or while she is on the squad. No idea if they offer health insurance.

The sad thing is, they were paying better than the rest. I remember when the very first one of these lawsuits came out, the Raiderette who sued claimed she was paid $1,250 for the entire season. The now-defunct Buffalo Jills weren't paid at all. Erica's $16,550 is astronomical by comparison.

This is a damn shame. As much as these women do for the franchise and they begrudge them compensation for the full number of hours they work?

Aren't they considered seasonal workers?  Typically no, a seasonal worker does not get benefits.  If an injury happens on the job, I thought one of the Cowboys doctors attended to them, which I imagine would be paid out of the DCC organization's coffers.

The same way struggling actors do. They waitress. You don’t get paid jack for being an extra and you don’t get any benefits until you work enough hours to be in the sag. There is a reason it’s called a starving artist. And it’s not just cheerleaders that put in a ridiculous amount of hours for their passion. For crap pay.

I would guess either they have jobs that include benefits (like the teachers on the squad) or they're young enough to still be on their parents' plan.

My thoughts on this whole situation...would Erica really be filing a lawsuit if she wasn't booted from the team? Sounds like someone is just bitter.  Why not file the lawsuit after she got booted last year for not being compensated for her time? Why wasn't it done sooner? Sounds to me like someone is just bitter, and decided to file suit right before the new season of the show airs this Summer.  Time is money!

I would be surprised if they did. I highly doubt any of them signed up for the pay. It’s the perks, the prestige, and the opportunities that they sign up for.
