They say the comment was not specific enough to warrant a subpoena for an IP address or other info from YouTube ... which might have led them to Cruz." If that is true, I really do think they dropped the ball, if they didn't even try to find the IP address for a person that makes a violent threat like that. This should be mentioned on the show! Although if they do, I really think Meghan would quit, but they have had plenty of guests praise her father, so you should be able to take the negative criticism as well. I would like to see them have the head of the NRA on the view. I'm amazed that they have that much power, we need to take it back from them. WE have the vote, that should be stronger cause if you sell out, we Should be voting you out. As for Joy apologizing, yeah, I always think it is a landmine if you talk religion. I found what she said a little offensive, but I also knew she was joking. But I think if you make any jokes, using mental illness, and Jesus, it's not going to play well for some. There is a reason people always say don't talk politics and religion, and on the View they have to talk about both all the time. On occasion one says something many find offensive, apologizes, and we the audience move on. Joy was joking. She explicitly said that Pence was not insane. I do believe if you believe that supernatural beings literally speak to you, whether it is God or the Devil, then, you are mentally ill. I pray as well, but, I have yet to hear a voice speak back to me. If I ever heard voices, then, I would seek help. It really pissed me off how Meggie apologized for the show. It was meant as a dig at Joy. She was full of it with her righteous indignation. GoldenGirl90 February 15, 2018 Share February 15, 2018 (edited) Not sure how many Roseanne fans we have here but I just recently found out that Joy will be conducting the interview tonight on ABC. A lot of people on social media are outraged and said they will not be watching because of Joy. I can’t wait and will be tuning in. ? I think Whoopi gave a brief shoutout about the special at the very end. Kenz February 16, 2018 Share February 16, 2018 (edited) 1 hour ago, backformore said: Really? Someone says they want to kill, the authorities investigate, find there is nothing to be done, the kid was kicked out of school, people were concerned. What does Meghan think CAN be done? Lots of people have the potential to be violent. We don't have a system where we can predict who will and who will not. AND - even if we did, you can't lock someone up for what they MIGHT do in the future. Psychiatric hospitals will commit someone who is actively suicidal or homicidal. but once they have treatment, and no longer have those thoughts - we do not have a way to legislate who needs psychiatric help. (except AFTER they have committed a crime) The law under Obama was not that people with mental illness cannot have guns. It was that people whose mental illness incapacitated them so much that they were collecting social security disability payments because they could not work, could not have guns. and then there was talk of extending it to people who were considered legally incapable of managing their affairs and finances - so, adults who needed someone else to be their legal guardian. I don't know if that would have prevented this particular person from killing, because I don't know his situation. But the law made absolute sense, and there is no reasonable explanation for why trump overturned it. (except to appease the NRA) The shooter Cruz had attended a mental clinic but dropped out. His father died several years ago, and his mother died last November. A friend's family took him in. He owned the AK-15 and brought it with him to live with the family. They had it locked up, but he had the key. The family thought he wasn't violent enough to do what he did. As Backformore stated, you can't lock someone up for what they MIGHT do in the future. So for Meghan to say that FBI agents and others should be fired is just ignorant. She dared not mention the subject of responsible gun control because her Republican cronies, including her father and super conservative husband, would have had a meltdown, and the conservative "tough chick" would have to hang up her credentials. Clearly she hasn’t been keeping up with the news because it has already been reported multiple times that the FBI exhausted all measures to track down the person who left the “I’m going to be a professional school shooter” comment on YouTube and they came up with nothing. It’s also funny that Meghan brought up mental illness because as Sunny pointed out, Trump rolled back the Obama-era regulations that would keep mentally ill people from purchasing guns. As she said, if Trump cares so much about mentally ill people buying guys, why sign an executive order getting rid of the regulation? I actually have a pretty good idea as to why Trump deregualted an Obama-era policy but I don’t want to stray off topic so I’ll leave it at that. Anyway, I noticed Meggie looking down as Sunny posed the question. I also agree with Sunny that if the murders of those poor babies during Sandy Hook didn’t change anything, I’m not sure what will. You beat me to it. I guess they wanted to be careful not to tackle that subject because the only one at that table who kind of hinted towards it is Joy, who said that money should be taken out of politics. I think Whoopi also mentioned something about lobbyist. Overall, I’m as frustrated as Joy - I’m sick of having these same conversations over and over. Stop with all the prayers because with all due respect, it’s not working. How many more prayers is it gonna take for Congress to take action? EDIT: Just to clarify, when I say stop with the prayers I mean that whenever these tragedies happen, it seems like all everyone in power does is send out their thoughts and prayers and not much else. Ten years ago in the state of Georgia, then-governor Sonny Perdue called for a prayer vigil to fight against the state's severe drought. People came to the steps of the capitol, praying, listening to pastors and a gospel chorus. People brought umbrellas because they thought the "heavens would open up". I have just moved from Chicago and knew I had just made the worst mistake of my life. With all due respect many cultures believe in ceremonies, rituals, prayers, and dancing in belief for rain. I attended an amazing beautiful and very moving rain dance performed by the Choctaw Nation in 2014. After having the privilege of attending I bought a book regarding rain rituals done in North America, Africa, and Thailand cultures. If it were economically feasible, we'd have had at least one carrier years ago. I do like that the budget allowed for her great graphics and props. It was fun. Yes, the airline industry is not a profitable one to begin with. What Whoopi is talking about is essentially what was known as a "charter" airline, and if you think about airlines now that go only to sun destinations. The sun destination airlines work in part because they have a very large market within a period of time with the desire to go to that destination. But they still have slim margins of profitability. And they are competing with major airlines, whose bread and butter is the business traveller, and they fill the back of the plane with economy biz travellers, and leisure travellers. It is tough to be an airline if you don't have that business traveller market...they pay full fare or close to it. Many countries have completely subsidized national airlines. Think of the airline business as the rail business. The government generally subsidizes it or partially owns it. To her point about families, one time I was travelling from Toronto to Orlando for business. 90% of the passengers were families going to Disney World. The rest of us were biz travellers, not necessarily in biz class. The plan sat on the tarmac in TO for hours before we departed. Parents and kids were miserable. We arrived well after midnight in Orlando. So on a flight like this, Whoopi's ideas would be great, but that is not going to happen because this same aircraft is deployed for regular flights other times. I think the Shark people made it clear, not a feasible business venture. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/66649-the-view-week-of-21218/page/6/#findComment-4063843

Broadcast network television does not exist for entertainment value. It exists to make money. It's show Business. That's one reason why each hour of daytime TV has 18-24 minutes of commercials. I always watch the show on the ABC APP. Today, the show had the regular 6 commercial breaks, but each was only a 30 second ABC promotion. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/66649-the-view-week-of-21218/page/6/#findComment-4064006

Prairiemakeup February 16, 2018 Share February 16, 2018 I think Paula was incessantly going on about Jennifer Anniston because she knew she was pushing Whoopi’s buttons. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/66649-the-view-week-of-21218/page/6/#findComment-4064869
fishsanwitt February 16, 2018 Share February 16, 2018 The gun debate. So useless. Unless the government does something, it's, unfortunately, rinse and repeat. Very sad. I love Ronan Farrow. So nice to see him. He is doing such amazing work. I think Paula was going on about Jen/Brad because Whoopi almost forgot to introduce her at the beginning of the show! 12 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/66649-the-view-week-of-21218/page/6/#findComment-4064901

Yeah, I don't really care much about Brad and Jen and all that the conversation brings. What bugs me is why they have to have the conversation at all? Whoopi dosent care and made it very clear. I don't think most of them cared except Paula, that actually made me lol. She was so into the conversation. I just dislike that whoopi acts so above the conversation and of course above dating and marriage. Her job is to moderate the table. Her Job! If she doesn'tlike talking about it talk with the producers and tell them this kind of topic bores us at the table, so let's skip it. Instead of acting like people interested are idiots. Like I said i don't care, but I can see why some need a distraction from all the dire news lately. Good to know The View books all MM friends (Ronan Farrow), you'd think she would seem happier. 19 minutes ago, Prairiemakeup said: I think Paula was incessantly going on about Jennifer Anniston because she knew she was pushing Whoopi’s buttons. Lol, I didn't think of that , now I really do think that is funny. 8 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/66649-the-view-week-of-21218/page/6/#findComment-4064907

She had a scowl on her face during that entire segment. And then she asked if his reporting would change the views of women who support Trump, which to me is a silly question with an obvious answer. 10 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/66649-the-view-week-of-21218/page/6/#findComment-4064921

imjagain February 16, 2018 Share February 16, 2018 (edited) Will they be bringing in Yvette Nicole Brown and Sherri to do all the silly segments? Edited February 16, 2018 by imjagain Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/66649-the-view-week-of-21218/page/6/#findComment-4064951

She was trying to trick him into giving an answer that seemed bias against Trump. He was very diplomatic and told her that it was not his job to change minds, but, to inform the public. She is a nasty piece of work.. 23 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/66649-the-view-week-of-21218/page/6/#findComment-4064953

Useless, indeed. More of a cultural thing, IMO Something just seems a little off regarding Ronan. 1 hour ago, athousandclowns said: It would be " sport" if the animals had a weapon too. She is not as smart as she believes she is, it is why she is so frustrated and is always dour.. She walks out with a gloomy expression, every morning. She needs to realize that she is not on the show to lecture anybody. She is there to share her views, on topics, whether it is politics, sex, children, the Kardashians, e.tc...People are not just liberals and conservatives. I would hope that people are more multifaceted in her world. 16 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/66649-the-view-week-of-21218/page/6/#findComment-4065029

Well she seems to be friends with everyone so one would think she is being exposed to different viewpoints. I wonder if her and Clay Aiken ever talk politics. He ran as a Democrat for office in North Carolina right? 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/66649-the-view-week-of-21218/page/6/#findComment-4065042
