SunnyBeBe March 3, 2022 Share March 3, 2022 I realize this is nit picky, but when they showed the young woman with eczema leaving to fly to CA, they showed her at the airport. kwnyc March 3, 2022 Share March 3, 2022 You could tell how upset Dr. Lee was both as she examined the man's leg, and after she'd taken it off. She knew it was probably cancer when she looked at it, and seeing how much there was underneath the skin was not a good sign. I wonder if it had been excised when he first noticed it if it would have been treatable/not required an oncologist. I feel bad for the guy's kid. He looked very young and scared. 5 Link to comment

I understand if you have a big lipoma like the first woman, it could be considered "cosmetic" and you can't afford removal or you have tried everything and no luck with some skin conditions, but that was just awful! And good doctor would have taken care of that right away. it was bleeding, it had pus all over it, it look nothing like a run of the mill cyst. I feel bad for him, but he should have gone and gotten it taken care of a long time ago. I had a small growth on my calf and went to the doctor and it was removed. It was just some kind of cyst, but they did test it. My son had a mole that grew suddenly when he was little, same thing. He has diabetes, he lost 100 lbs recently..... I don't think he is well. The person I truly feel the most sorry for is his son. 5 Link to comment
SunnyBeBe March 4, 2022 Share March 4, 2022 It’s hard to know if the leg cancer was a primary site. Would it take 10 years to almost kill you? Did he have cancer elsewhere? High blood sugar, from diabetes can make you drop a lot of weight. At least, with Type 1 it does. I lost a bunch, before I got my blood sugar under control. Link to comment

Cancer metastasizes through the blood and the cells tend to spread to internal organs and bones. That had to be the primary site. Likely it's an aggressive, but slow growing skin cancer like a a basal or squamous cell carcinoma. He's going to lose a big chunk out of that leg to get it all. 3 Link to comment

CrazyMoon March 4, 2022 Share March 4, 2022 For sure a skin cancer...a particularly ugly one. Hope isn't much deeper and hasn't metastasized. Clearly he's terrified by doctors & modern medicine...the 100# over six years is significant, but can be caused by unmanaged/mismanaged diabetes. I had a tiny dot that "fortunately" a dermatologist noticed. Unfortunately, his wrong diagnosis (It's benign!) started several months of horrible treatments--including the worst: WOUND CARE! I had six weeks of radiation oncology before that...every day. I ended up with a "big chunk" taken out of my leg--over my shin. Like someone sliced a half a pool ball. All because of a smart aleck dermatologist who was more interested in telling me which part of "cool" Scottsdale he lived in--and what kind of car he drove. Just before a hyperbaric treatment (yes!) was started, that specialist stopped everything and called his colleague, "a guerilla surgeon." That was 2012. Healing was long and difficult...but everything is good (though UGLY...and I don't mind). Edited March 17, 2022 by Back Atcha 2 Link to comment
CrazyMoon March 17, 2022 Share March 17, 2022 Devon struck me as so very vain...and self centered. The pumice stone was a nuclear option and a really bad idea...Even worse was going to a tanning bed...since melasma is intensified by sun exposure. Apparently she didn't read that part on line, or figured if she covered the dark spots prior to tanning its fine...she's an idiot. She proves the idea that "if it's on the internet it must be true" theory of medical diagnoses & treatment. For mild cases of melasma, like Dr. Lee said, chemical peel or laser will fix it...hers was very deep so the new pill treatment would be the first thing to try...
