That's a pretty nice introductory platform for Black Lightning.  I hope it unexpectedly wallops The Flash in ratings.  But I suppose it's too much to hope it could be a sleeper hit like Empire, lol.

Of those expected to attend, most on that list make sense to me but I wonder why Danielle Panabaker is on that list.  I like her well enough but she seems like one of the things that is not like the others.

If Black Lightning does better then The Flash that'd be amazing. Unfortunately I don't think the CW have put the same amount of energy into promoting it.

So far I've only seen it promoted on the CW itself.  So yeah, so far, they haven't done a lot of promoting, but maybe they will ramp that up.  Tying it to this event makes me hopeful they have a few ideas at least.

Ryan Reynolds Trolls With Photo of Deadpool Getting Kicked Out of Disney Park

Quote

Deadpool was looking to cause a little trouble this morning following Disney's announcement that it was acquiring his studio, 21st Century Fox.

Ryan Reynolds shared a photo of Deadpool getting escorted out of a Disney park by security, after his character apparently acted in a way not becoming of a Disney guest. Reynolds captioned the photo this way: "Apparently you can’t actually blow the Matterhorn." (Read into that what you will.) The image is from artist Mutant 101.

From the Deadline article posted upthread (on page 453):

Quote

The event, which takes place Friday, January 12 and Saturday, January 13, will explore the intersection of comic books, culture, entertainment and enlightenment through a series of panel discussions open to the public.

Overheard inside emergency WB/DC/CW meeting a couple days after Variety published its Nov. 10th Andrew Kreisberg sexual harassment article...

WB Top Brass: I want suggestions on how we control this damage! And I want those suggestions now!

Greg Berlanti: I agree. This is really damaging my brand. I pride myself on the inclusivity and diversity of my shows. I've even gotten awards for it! I got the Family Equality Council Impact Award. I got the Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award. I got -

Mark Pedowitz: Yes, yes, Greg, we know you're great. Back to the problem at hand.

PR Guy: Well, we got Black Lightning debuting in January....

WB Top Brass: That doesn't help us with this f**kin' Kreisberg problem. He was accused of sexual harassment, not racism.

Geoff Johns: If you had stuck to the comics, we wouldn't have this problem.

GB: What the hell does that have to do with anything we're talking about? And you okayed everything!

MP: Geoff, your comics record isn't that great either. The name "Eddie Berganza" ring a bell?

PR Guy: Hey, we've been talking about we're holding this big public event premiering Black Lightning in January, like on MLK weekend. How about we also show off the actresses on our shows? Two birds, one stone.

GB: I like it. We should also include Russell Tovey's The Ray to highlight our gender identity diversity.

GJ: We can also use it to celebrate how comics have brought enlightenment to the world.

MP: I like it too. Make sure to include all of our DC TV shows, including Gotham.

WB Top Brass: That's brilliant. I love it. Four birds, one stone. Do it.

Heh.

In all semi-fairness to the WB, though, this particular event was in the words by at least September, when a set of invites went out.  Planning for it presumably started well before then.

One such panel will be called "Wonder Women," and it will focus heavily on the female-influences in DC television, which should be a perfect celebration of the box office win of Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman over the summer. Another panel will focus specifically on the inclusion of LGBT characters in DC superhero series (such as Curtis Holt and Sara Lance), and the importance of putting a spotlight on those demographics in pop culture.

The Arrowverse's 10 Best Star Wars References
By JENNA ANDERSON - December 14, 2017

SLIDE 5/10 – PRIDE & PADAWANS
...
During "Going Rogue", Iris (Candice Patton), Eddie (Rick Cosnett), Barry, and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) -- in a double date set up that might even more awkward now -- decided to participate in a trivia night at Jitters. At one point, Eddie accidentally answered a Star Wars-themed question incorrectly, and the group tried to console him. But as Felicity pointed out, the other group - named "Pride & Padawans" - probably got it right, before panning over to a group of four Star Wars cosplayers.

Again, this is probably one of the more overt references, but it's still pretty charming. It also raises a pretty big question: does anyone in Central City realize that one of their domestic terrorists looks exactly like Luke Skywalker?

SLIDE 6/10 – THAT 'ARROW' SPACESHIP FIGHT SCENE
...
Yes, Arrow - the show that has attempted to be the most "grounded" of the Arrowverse - had a pretty massive Star Wars homage last season.
...
Ultimately, Oliver and company found a way to escape, trying to return home through a pod on the Dominator ship. The Dominators quickly realized what was going on, and sent a battalion of ships after the pod. What followed was a high octane, space-hopping fight scene - something that felt right out of Star Wars.

SLIDE 1/10 – MAISIE RICHARDSON-SELLERS
SLIDE 2/10 – MARK HAMILL
SLIDE 3/10 – "I AM YOUR FATHER."
SLIDE 4/10 – TIME-JUMPING OUT OF THE BUILDING
SLIDE 5/10 – PRIDE & PADAWANS
SLIDE 6/10 – THAT 'ARROW' SPACESHIP FIGHT SCENE
SLIDE 7/10 – KEEP CALM AND HAN SHOT FIRST
SLIDE 8/10 – LIFE DAY
SLIDE 9/10 – CISCO'S ANAKIN SPEECH
SLIDE 10/10 – ALL OF "RAIDERS OF THE LOST ART"

Turns Out Wentworth Miller Might Not Be Done With The Arrow-verse After All

For now, that seems to be the end of Leonard Snart on any Arrow-verse show, but there's reason to stay hopeful. While he made no explicit promises to fans at the German Comic-Con in Dortmund, Wentworth Miller did say that he will "never say never," to coming back to The Flash or Legends of Tomorrow in the future. Miller explained why, and what it would take, as he doted on his love for the entire experience of being on both shows below:

"I will never say never because I do enjoy these characters so much. I have a lot of affection for the cast and its a really hard working crew. I enjoy working in Vancouver so there are many reasons to come back, it just has to be the right story. So far I think we've done a really good job of exploring all of who Leonard Snart is and his various incarnations. If the powers that be can prove to me that there's more story there that's worth telling, I'll certainly consider it."

WENTWORTH MILLER SHOWING UP ON THE RAY CONFIRMED!!!

Ok, maybe not...but of all the ways to entice him back into the Arrowverse I can see that being the most attractive option for him. Just a little bit of voice work, which is not really all that time-intensive and shouldn't interfere too much with other projects he wants to do; plus it's a chance to show the beginnings and culmination of a male/male romance that was really well received by both critics and the fandom during Crisis, and I can see that being really dear to his heart and something he'd want to foster and encourage.

His partner Dove suppresses his violent nature, and without her his rage becomes boundless.

Her powers are enhanced agility, can withstand physical punishment, heal quickly and her perceptions are heightened to their fullest extent.
Despite being the avatar of peace, she is not averse to violence.
However, in her battles she retains a cooler mind and seeks to find more peaceful solutions as opposed to her partner.

So, the wooden actor who played Aquaman on Smallville is now playing Hawk? And since my knowledge of Hawk and Dove is only from Justice League Unlimited, where those two were brothers, played by Fred Savage (Hawk) and Jay what’shisface (Dove), who played brothers on The Wonder Years.”

Was it the FUCKED UP AND WILL FOREVERHAVEMYHAAAATE “Neeew” 52, that switched genders for Dove???

Leo does, Snart doesn't.  I'm talking about Earth 1 Snart who sacrificed himself at the end of season 1 and had a major crush on Sara.  They bring him back, he has the sexytimes, and then goes off anti-heroing.

Olicity: Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak, Arrow/WestAllen: Barry Allen & Iris West, The Flash
This year’s CW superhero crossover treated fans two a two-fer when it came to happily ever afters. When Nazis interrupted Barry and Iris’ ceremony (don’t ask), the pair decided to skip the vows and just head to a justice of the peace instead. But Felicity and Oliver suggested their friends have an impromptu wedding in a park, which was then followed by their own impromptu nuptials. It was cute, comic book-y and quirky – which perfectly sums up both couples. (And don’t come at me with that noise about how Felicity was rude for interrupting Iris’ moment; the park wedding wouldn’t have even happened without Felicity’s suggestion, and Barry and Iris’ real wedding was already interrupted – BY NAZIS. Blame them instead.)

Peraltiago: Jake and Amy on Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Bughead: Betty Cooper & Jughead Jones, Riverdale
Olicity: Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak, Arrow/WestAllen: Barry Allen & Iris West, The Flash
Malec: Magnus Bane & Alec Lightwood, Shadowhunters

Sexual Harassment Charges Challenge Behavior Standards in Writers Rooms
By Daniel Holloway  December 13, 2017
http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/sexual-harassment-writers-rooms-1202637953/

Quote

Television writers rooms are not like most workplaces. They’re creative spaces where people — many of whom gravitated toward the field because they blanched at thoughts of working straight jobs — spitball freely and rely on the group to police bad ideas. Intimate personal stories are often shared. Behavior that would not be tolerated elsewhere is given a pass, to the purported benefit of the final product.

That idea is being challenged by the sexual harassment and assault allegations engulfing Hollywood. In November, two seasoned showrunners were fired or suspended from their series after being accused of misconduct by multiple women who worked for them. Among the allegations made against Mark Schwahn in a Variety report about his time on Warner Bros. drama “One Tree Hill” was that he forced a female writer’s head between her knees and balanced a soda can on it while making a joke about her ability to perform oral sex. “Flash” and “Arrow” EP Andrew Kreisberg responded to an allegation made in a Variety story that he asked a female employee to lie on his office floor while he assumed a push-up stance over her, saying, “It is not uncommon in writers rooms that we act out what we want production to film.”
*  *  *
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone in a writers room turn to everyone and say, ‘Are we comfortable with this sense of humor that we’re doing right now? This might be a rough room. Are you all game? Is there anyone here who is offended and having a hard time being here?’” says “Love” and “Crashing” executive producer Judd Apatow. “Maybe those conversations will happen now.”

In 2006, the California State Supreme Court threw out a lawsuit by a former “Friends” writers assistant who claimed that she had been sexually harassed in the writers room, having been present as male writers discussed vulgar sexual themes regarding the show’s characters. Justice Martin R. Baxter wrote that the state “does not outlaw sexually coarse and vulgar language or conduct that merely offends,” noting that “the ‘Friends’ production was a creative workplace focused on generating scripts for an adult-oriented comedy show featuring sexual themes.”

The ruling remains famous in television-industry circles. Many viewed it as establishing writers rooms as spaces exempt from normal workplace standards.
*  *  *
“I think that the conversation that’s happening now is really essential to women being able to say, ‘Here’s what I will stand for and here’s what I won’t stand for’ in a way that was certainly difficult to be able to do, certainly at the beginning of my career,” says [“One Day at a Time” executive producer Gloria] Calderon Kellett. Young female writers “are just happy to get the job. You’re one of the few women there. You don’t want to say anything or do anything so that you’re not the woman there any more.”

She adds: “I’ve been around when the boys were being stupid and I’ve just tried to ignore it. But now that I’m in charge, I don’t have to put up with shit.”
*  *  *
As the number of shows on television has increased, so too has the number of female showrunners. But growth in percentage representation for female writers has been slow — and sometimes nonexistent. UCLA’s 2017 Hollywood Diversity Report found the share of female writing credits in cable and broadcast TV up only 3% in the 2014-15 season from two years earlier. But the same study found that the percentage of female cable and broadcast series creators had fallen slightly in 2014-15 from 2011-12.

Holly Sorensen, creator of YouTube Red’s “Step Up: High Water,” says that concern over workplace harassment doesn’t come up in conversations with other female showrunners. But “it comes up with every other TV writer,” she says. “For women who run rooms, it’s not even an issue. But I know a lot of men are nervous right now. And it’s a confusing time.”
*  *  *
“Power” creator Courtney Kemp differentiates between what goes on in the writers room and what happens outside it in the larger production office.

“I think that it’s about the culture of the building and not the room itself,” she says. “The writers room itself should be as anything goes as it can, because it fosters creativity. But when you start to have a campaign against one person or you start to make it so that people feel unsafe, that transcends the actual writers room space — that becomes an office or a cultural thing.”

Kemp warns against trying to change the culture inside writers rooms as Hollywood examines workplace behavior. “I don’t think that writers rooms themselves are going to be able to change without the quality of the work changing too,” she says. “I do think there are plenty of writers rooms in town where people are not abused and people have a good time. I know a lot of people who like their jobs. They can be really fun.” The broader problem, she adds, is the industry’s “culture of abuse” that extends beyond gender and sexuality. “It’s much more pervasive than that. We’re looking at one thing, because it’s salacious.”

But as more women in television step forward with claims of harassment and assault, what passes as acceptable behavior in a writers room is being questioned. And the answers are not yet evident.

Dick Grayson (along with Roy) originated the Teen Titans and The Titans.

Dick however was not part of Young Justice until the animated series stole it from Tim.

The Updated Multiverse Map of The Arrowverse
By NICOLE DRUM - December 16, 2017
http://comicbook.com/dc/2017/12/17/updated-map-of-multiverse-arrowverse/

Quote

SLIDE 1/12 – EARTH-1
...
The default Earth for The CW, Earth-1 is the home of The Flash, Arrow, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. This Earth, which is roughly analogous to our real world, is also the home of CW Seed's Vixen and thanks to in-continuity appearances of John Constantine on both Arrow in previous seasons and Legends this season, may also contain the now-defunct Constantine. New this year to our list of information about Earth-1 is that Earth-2's Laurel Lance/Black Siren has made Earth-1 her home while another CW Seed series, Freedom Fighters: The Ray, sees Earth-1's Ray Terrill go to Earth-X to fight Nazis.
*  *  *
SLIDE 2/12 – EARTH-2
...
There's not a lot of new information about Earth-2 since our last look at this version of the world. Earth-2 is still the best-known alternative world for fans of The Flash as it's where Harry Wells hails from. It's also the first multiverse world that Team Flash has travelled to while trying to deal with the evil Zoom in season two. Jesse Quick is now the speedster hero of Earth-2, a situation that lead Harry to return to Earth-1. It's also the home of Laurel Lance/Black Siren, though from the looks of things on Arrow, she has no intention of ever going back.
*  *  *
SLIDE 9/12 – EARTH-38
...
Home of Supergirl, this Earth has had superheroes for at least a decade and aliens openly live in this world -- even if not everyone is happy they are there. After defeating the Daxamite invasion at the end of Supergirl's second season, Earth-38 now is dealing with the threat of the Worldkiller, Reign. Supergirl didn't fare too well in her first fight with Reign, but hopefully the Legion of Super-Heroes, who made their first appearance after being found in a spaceship in the National City waterfront, will be able to help out.

SLIDE 1/12 – EARTH-1

It really shows they have a former lawyer working on the show.  Or Barry is that special that he get the prosecutor on his side while Central City is the defendant. It's Central City's fault that Barry's a dumbass.

Graeme McComb is now well-known for his role as Young Stein in Legends of Tomorrow, but he’s also making children laugh as Elfonso the Elf.

Hidden Remote: Legends of Tomorrow’s fall finale was viewed as the send off Stein deserved. What does that mean to you, since it was your portrayal as the Young Stein that helped to develop this send off?
McComb: An absolute honor. I feel such gratitude to be a part of Martin Stein’s journey.

Hidden Remote: How hard was the acceptance scene to film?
McComb: Shooting the scene actually came with such ease. I was already so invested in the character and I had a great deal of weight to work within that scene but also in the storyline, but for an actor, that’s what we thrive on.

Hidden Remote: Can you say if you’ll return to Legends or is it a door left open for now?
McComb: I am uncertain of Young Stein’s future. Only time will tell!
