So, everything's tied together with finances, and Alex's bonuses to frame him?  Oh yeah, there's about to a lot of people that get Litt up.  There's got to be a reason why it's all tied together like that, and with Louis's storyline going on, it's setting up Louis to be the big damn hero.

WTF?!?! Louis, who is younger than I am, meets his shrink who has a German accent and immediately accuses him of being a Nazi? The Dr. is not old enough to have been a Nazi! Has Louis been living under a rock? That really put me off. The writers should be kicked in wherever it hurts the most. This is the last season, right? I say that every season and I keep hoping. I think I'm done.

I will give Jessica's new spinoff a chance though.

I keep saying that I'm not going to expect this show to have any connection with how the legal system really works, but the idea of moving a trial up to the very next day isn't even in the same dimension with reality. Here's how I figured it happened:

Donna: Hi, Judge. My boss, who isn't even on the pleadings, would like to move Major Trial to tomorrow.

Judge: Well, my dockets are set six months in advance. I have a trial already scheduled for tomorrow with several others waiting to go if that one settles. But, no problem, I'll cancel them all and schedule yours, because, after all, you're Donna.

                                                    ************************

Donna: Hi, Opposing Counsel. My boss, who you've never talked to, wants to move Major Trial to tomorrow.

Opposing Counsel: Gee, we haven't really done discovery yet, I have a number of appointments set for tomorrow and my client and all my witnesses have other things they are supposed to do, but okay, why not, since you're Donna.

                                                   **************************

Donna: Hi, Client. My boss, who you don't even know is working on your case, has moved Major Trial to tomorrow. Be at court at 9:00 AM. and bring all your witnesses with you.

Client: Sounds good to me. Of course, I haven't had any trial prep and half my witnesses are out of town, but whatever you say, you're Donna.

Good Queen Jane, perfect post!  I usually make Mr CRS pause so I can rant about the legal malpractice and screw-ups but I was so stunned by how bad it was on this episode that I said nothing.  When I read him your post, he first thought I wrote it, but you said it a whole lot better than I would have!

I like Alex.

I was stuck at the idea that one side of a litigation could "call up the judge" (or even the chambers) to change a court date.

Another thing that had me ?????so hard was Mike telling Rachel that there were only "two choices" for him regarding what kind of lawyer he'd be/work in--something he's "struggled" for most of his life: Pro Bono or Corporate Law.

WRONG!!! There are law firms out there that practice other and different types of law-mid-size firms, that have normal people and not corporations as clients. Or, I don't know, he could have become a sole practitioner. Oh, wait. He wouldn't have the resources that a large firm would have.  Sounds like he wants his cake and to eat it too.???

Is this something that happened over the past few years? Because I don't recall him having any problems defending corporate clients when he wasn't a lawyer, but pretending to be one.

Like I am not a lawyer or in the legal world at all, and I was like "uhhh what the hell? How?"

Like I could maybe understand moving it up a month or two, but to tomorrow? The judge was probably going to golf!

This entire episode was ridiculous! Louis calling the therapist a nazi just because he had a German accent. This was more even ridiculous than his usual antics. 

 

Harvey giving Alex his word, then going back on it, then telling Alex he'll have his back whenever he needs it. Right Harvey, we trust you! smh

 

Donna calling the court to have a case moved at with no notice, just because Harvey said. (Good Queen Jane wrote an excellent post about this)

 

I'm glad we finally know the truth about Alex.  It's the only good thing that happened. This episode gave me whiplash from shaking my head so hard.

How can there be a show where all the characters are loathsome? Well, maybe not Louis' legal secretary but she only shows up once in while. I'm amazed someone hasn't put a hit out on Harvey and Mike by now.

As the seasons go on I like mike less and less.. Everyone is telling him stop.. Ppl are telling him someone could get hurt and he just pushes on becuz he knows what's right.. Even after Alex tells him he may end up going down for it abd can lose his family mike looks him in the eye and  says I'm not stopping... And I know the show will find some way for mike to figure it out but ugh.. He's a selfish fella

GQJ's post would likely have have more like than any post in PTV history, except that there are are only a handful of us losers still watching this terrible show to comment on it.

Here's to the spinoff with Gina!  Please, please no "special appearances" by Mike, Harvey, Rachael or I'm Donna.

Just view the show as an analysis of a sociopath as he embraces his true self.

And it also gives Rachel another scene for her to moan and cry over what Mike is doing.  I still hate the fact that they made this a character trait starting in the second season.

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!  Some inside baseball on this?  You're lucky if you can even get a judge's CLERK on the phone, much less a judge.  And never mind changing a calendar.   But, you know, out of probably 2500 legal secretaries in New York, who work for high-prestige, nationally known lawyers, DONNA is above and beyond, supremely special.  Oh for fuck's sake, ENOUGH!!!!!

You can't.  It's an ex parte communication.  You'd have to submit a stipulation signed by both parties, and even THEN, the calendars are set MONTHS in advance.

I liked the flashback scenes better than the present-day ones.  The backstory on Harvey and Alex, Jessica and Harvey, Harvey and Louis, Louis and his therapist, hell even Harvey and Donna (even though we've seen it 1000 times already) was all more interesting than what's going on now.

I know it's come up before, but I still find it strange that Louis considers Harvey his best friend, while Harvey clearly does not return the sentiment.  Louis respects Harvey, admires him, comes close to worshipping him, but as far as I can tell, they're only "friends" because they came up through the ranks together.  We've rarely seen them spend any personal time together.  If I were to guess, I'd say Harvey considers Louis a co-worker, and one he doesn't really like at that.  He respects Louis' legal skills in specific areas, as we've seen, but that's about it.

Louis' social skills are so poor, he doesn't have any friends (Donna might be the closest) but since he idolizes Harvey, and Harvey interacts with him more than any other man does (from what we've seen), he's convinced himself that they are friends.

I think Harvey considers Louis to be more than a co-worker, but not a friend.

So this episode we learn that the conversation Louis has been having with his therapist back several times already this season- "If you keep pushing people away, you'll eventually have no one left" "Screw you, I don't need your help"- he's been having for the past seven years ever since he met the guy. That's some progress!

This law firm might just be the most unprofessional place of work Ive ever seen in my life.  The way Louis treats the employees would have that company bankrupted a long time ago with lawsuits.  There is no way there would be a partner like that working at any law firm or any place of business really.

Quite the opposite. Alex is one guy, this case affects dozens of people.
