Message added by Scarlett45,

Discussing the charges against Jana is fine, but do not post any information that reveals her address/contact information- even if said documents are public (i.e. a part of court proceedings.)

Discussing charges against Jana is NOT a jumping off point to speculate on other instances abuse/neglect etc towards the M-children or to elaborate on Josh's conviction and potential victims.

In the Duggar house, on the only computers the kids are allowed to use, they have openly stated that they are only allowed on certain approved sites. They have hawked software to keep curious eyes away from the big, bad Internet.

Hence, my comment about Jana placing the ads for the boys. As Koka said, there is no way any Duggar male has unfettered access to the Internet, especially after Joshgate. JD and Joe may have had smartphones with limited access before, but now? Probably Flip Phones of Shame for all...except Boob; I've seen his smartphone. But even Boob may have limited access.

So yeah, Jana.

And if you're a girl, you can look up a "recipe" for mashed potatoes under Jessa's supervision on your (also limited, for sure) smartphone.

You can't control kids 24 hours a day unless you keep them locked in a cage.  There is a picture on the Internet of Josh and cousin Amy when they were very little kids playing on the Internet in Grandma Mary's real estate office.  Josh viewed the Internet at age 14 while volunteering for Jim Holt's political campaign.

Yes - I guess my point was they had all of these rules and even that didn't prevent problems and yet they kept touting supervision as the key to perfection.

By the way, all of those cars were listed on Craigslist in the 'by owner' category, not 'by dealer.'  According to Arkansas law, an individual can only sell five cars a year without acquiring a dealer license.

Do we think a Duggar would let a little thing like state law stand in their way?

That's why several of them are going to list cars. Each can sell 5 cars - so even if they don't use  JB, Michele, that's still Jana, Jinger, JD, Joseph, Josiah, and Joy if you just use the over 18s- that's 30 cars a year. Add Jedidiah, Jeremiah who are 17 - that's another 10. I'm sure they will list them under all sorts of people but only one of two of them will do the "work".

It just dawned on me that in The People article that preceded the premiere of J&J:CO, one of the J-boys was listed as running "Duggar Automotive/Motors" (forget which moniker they used). I imagine that equates to this roadside venture. But it's not a real lot (or even a legitimate business), so we've unearthed yet another Duggar exaggeration disguised as a professional operation.

John-David had an iPhone a year ago, and he probably still does. He likely paid for it himself though. His younger brothers probably have to use whatever phone Jimbob's gives them.

They also claim a lot of crap about how they do things, but the reality is probably quite different. I don't think JB and Michelle actually give a damn of what's going on enough to use energy to keep an eye on their almost adult or adult offspring anymore. Jana probably doesn't care either. They contradict themselves all the time. I can't imagine them suddenly feeling the need to parent. And why the hell does an adult need their parents supervision? If they can click 'over 18' then by all means watch porn, live in a house you own and rub one out now and then.

When you consider how many adult kids they have who can each sell 5 per year, I'd think that would keep them fairly busy.

It's pathetic that a grown ass man pushing 30, who supposedly owns his own business and earns and income, has to have an Internet password from his sister. But he chooses to live in the TTH under JB's rules, so I can't feel sorry for him.

If he thinks he can't not sin without Jana guarding the password, even more pathetic. Have some control over your own life.

That's the problem with these groups - women are supposed to sit back and wait for Prince Charming, but so many of these guys won't move out of their moms basements - but then are expected to be these awesome leaders who are deferred to for everything.

Watch JD wait until he's about 30 and then marry some 17 year old Marjorie type who lets him think he's in charge.

Of course that's better than the super aggressive, can't contain themselves around females, wannabe alpha males like Josh and Daddy Seewald. Makes JD look like a real catch.

Where does JD live? I guess since Jana and the other adults live in the girls' dorm, I just assumed JD lived with the boys.

Actually I think the fundamental flaw of their operation is that we keep finding fundamental flaws.

"Basement" was likely a figure of speech. The tinker toy house doesn't have a basement.

Oh I know. I just got me wondering if he is living somewhere as 'separate' as a basement type place or if he's bunking with the elementary school kids like the girls have to.

He admitted to living at home. The TTH has only three bedrooms, plus the goodbye room that was converted for Grandma Mary. Unless he's in the play/"school"room, or the food pantry, there is nowhere else for him to go other than the boys' dorm.

He seems determined to expand that treehouse. He needs to add plumbing and electricity then he can sneak in and play house with a chikafil server. Technically, still home.

Now what would be interesting TLC - LISTEN TLC - is to move Jana, JD, Joe, Jinger into a house. Four of them together would be accountability and some independence, plus Michelle may actually have to go back ot raising the children she brought into this world.

JD owns a home and I thought he was living in it during the last year or so of filming because he was around much the last year on the old show.  There have also been  a picture of him at his house posted here.  I wonder if he has moved back for filming?

Go back a few pages. I thought he'd moved out, too, but posters were pretty firm that he said on a recent interview that he was living back at the TTH.

I saw him raise his hand with all his other unmarried kidult siblings when asked in the GMA interview who still lives AT HOME. Can't get much more clear than that, and that was only what, four weeks ago (ie. after all filming had wrapped).

The was a picture posted a while back of JD and a couple of siblings in a room with a fireplace that no one recognized. I think there were conjectures about where they might be, but I didn't get the impression that anyone knew for sure.

I LOVE this idea!! I would actually watch that show, even if it was horribly boring, just to help support their moderate freedom from Boob and Chelle.

I would watch a Duggar share House show. I would also watch Michelle trying to pick up her own slack back home too.

goodbye room that was converted for Grandma Mary

Grandma Mary is in what shows on the original plans as the guest room behind the laundry room.  The goodbye room is still there and now houses the exercise equipment and possibly Jana's desk.  It's basically the backdoor to the house so not a fit room for anyone to try to use as a bedroom.

A couple of years ago on their blog (the Duggar one, not the fan one) Michelle said that JD had a house that he leases out.  Last year there was an article that said he was living in his own house.   On the last J&J:CO he said he had an independent income and a house so he could support a family.  So he probably has a house and maybe has lived there.  Maybe he moved back with family because of filming or maybe he just is living at home until he gets hitched.  It is crazy to think if you had your own house you would want to live in a dorm with a bunch of kid brothers but then the Duggars are a bit crazy.

Thanks, I always get the unseen spaces mixed up. I knew they were using the Goodbye Room for some purpose; it just worked better for my twisted sense of humor that they put Grandpa there in his last months. I would expect nothing less of Jim Bob.

If JD owns his own home but lives in the kiddie dorm, I doubt it's because likes it better it that way than being independent. Just because there is a house in JD's name doesn't mean Boob doesn't really own it and decide who can live there.

I think the article that said JD lived away was based solely on the fact that he had a house in his name.  Under normal circumstances that would mean he moved out.  So nothing I've seen from the Duggar camp has said anything to imply that JD ever moved out of the house.

If JD lived alone, he would have to do his laundry, cook, food shop etc.

It's probably easier to have a bunch of sisters doing those things and just live in the dorm. (Although the cooking looks pretty bad based on what we have seen lately)

My twisted sense of humor finds it amusing that Grandma's bedroom is next to the laundry room. The ultimate no commute/work from home job.

This.

Experience teaches the Duggars nothing. Obviously their controlling parenting was an epic failure with Josh, but rather than admit there may be a better way to proceed going forward, they simplistically double down on their relentless, ridiculous control.

Oh, but the devil.

There's a PDF file for their floor plan on the Kodiak Steel Homes website. I've looked it up several times. There are some odd long storage spaces upstairs that were shown when they were looking for Josie's crib. That was the last time I checked because I thought that was what all their where houses were for but they do have inside storage.

I just looked at this for the first time. I haven't watched the show in a long time so I'd never really given the house a lot of thought. I'm sure a lot of you have noticed these thing before but this floor plan is fascinating. I find it hilarious that JB and Michele each have an office. It's also really interesting in light of the molestation that the boys have to cross a catwalk and pass the Master Suite to get to the girls room. I see the girls get a sewing room but what is the 'studio' for the boys?

As a homeschooler, I am fascinated by such a huge house with no school room. But then again... they don't really do school

How nice that Grandma gets to walk through the laundry to get to her room. That way she won't go to bed without making sure all of her chores are done for the day.

I don't think we've ever seen inside grandma's servants quarters.

That is the room they moved in to when grandpa was bedridden and dying of a brain tumor.  TLC  filmed him in the room a couple of times and he had a hospital bed set up in there.   The 'quarters' just looked like a normal-sized bedroom, not a mother-in-law suite.

There is a room where there are computers lined up on a table but I'm not sure where that is. It seemed like the workbooks and classroom time whenever that happens are at the dining table.

Where to do school usually isn't an issue. In our house we do it all over the place. The high schoolers are usually in their room since it's quiet. My youngest and I are on the floor, at a table, outside at the patio table... Heck a few weeks ago when it was finally a beautiful day, my daughter read her history lesson in a tree. The problem usually is where to store the stuff. I only have 3 kids and I have 7 bookcases. Of course my second will be off to college in the fall and my husband in "encouraging" me to cut down on the stuff LOL.

But I see nowhere, either on the plans or when I've seen the show, that curriculum materials or books are stored. With that volume of kids I would expect a room called 'library'.

That place falls apart without JD and Jana. I think JD does all the 'man' stuff, and Jana can pitch in anywhere. She stays home to 'help' with the little kids, goes to her married siblings to 'help' with their children, 'helps' with the treehouse, does the sewing. She can probably whip up a real meal if she wasn't feeding an army each day among all her other 'chores'. The real parents have checked out except for photo ops. I don't think JD has just jumped into the lead dog role. He has been there all along, while Josh was just a figurehead. I get a real sense of respect for JD from the younger guys.

I really want both of these to find good matches and go fundie lite. Even send the kids off to mortar and bricks schools so they can meet parents from different circles. (I have nothing against homeschooling done properly).

I also think the brother after JD is adorable.

That's a good point because we never see any kind of library or bookcases except for a few stacks of books that appear to be mostly bibles on various window ledges.
