These rules are pretty strict, and repeatedly getting a visa extension would be an issue unless he's already considered a resident OR is on a work visa where the Hebrew Academy sponsored him. But working for 8 years on your doctorate without having a FT research/teaching job is exorbitant - I don't think that teaching at a Hebrew Academy counts as a major detractor from his studies. It took me one semester to collect my data, run it through two separate quantitative data analysis software tools, AND defend my PhD, and I was done in 3.5 years with the entire doctorate (I could have finished in 3 years on the nose, but had health problems and then lost half of my house in a storm so I had to add on 2 extra semesters). He's obviously spending his dissertation research and writing time chubby chasing and swindling.

I had a friend who was ABD for 10 years but that was definitely pushing it (and she ended up not finishing). At the end of every year, she was always stressed that she the school would kick her out of her program. When her advisor retired that was pretty much the end of the whole gig.

In her defense, it's hard to work full time and try to finish a dissertation, which is what my friend was trying to do. Her full time job was pretty demanding and then her dissertation was like another intense full time job on top of it.

It's scripted to that level???? So they actually tell the gang what to say and how to interact with each other? What in the hell. They need better writers. Would that mean that Whitney didn't call Lenny 6,456 times that night? I thought for sure that was her control freak self. Has Whit commented on Roy's announcement yet? I worked 50-60 hours in my field of study during my first year in my PhD program, which did not allow you to do anything less than full time during the first year. Can someone refresh my memory as to when this Avi thing ended (well in Avi’s mind) since it hasn’t seemingly ended for Whitney since she’s talking about it nonstop.  Considering they’ve filmed the season and are a few episodes into broadcasting it, it’s obviously been some time.  It’s one thing to commiserate with the other women initially but I mean traveling literally across the world and talking on a somewhat consistent basis when your a day a part time wise is sort of ridiculous.  I’m guessing Avi was a jerk or at the very least a deadbeat who doesn’t pay back money according to Whitney and the one other girl, but talking for hours nonstop about this is obsessive and I don’t think particularly healthy.  If this is so traumatic I suggest the ladies talk to a professional.  The last person I’d take relationship advice from is Whitney.  

I know I was on here a week ago saying I felt bad for Whitney or more specifically felt I was being too snarky....well I think I’ve toned it down a couple of degrees, but any sympathy I had for her went out the window when she booked Nada on a hike then left the poor girl stranded on a chair in the heat.  I don’t care if Nada is obese or what the reason was.  Whitney left her guest seating on a folding chair in the woods! What?  A guest that flew halfway around the world  then she wants the girl to sleep in bed with her. Nada’s a grown woman, so if she’s willing to do all this, I question her motives too.  Either all these people are incredibly lonely, or just want to be on tv.  Now we have Whitney and Alison laid up in bed together in FB pictures.  The whole thing is completely RIDICULOUS and this is coming from someone who has watched all the Little Women shows, so I’m quite the expert in ridiculousness when I see it.

I honestly wonder if he's been paid off or if he's waiting until the end of the season to see how far it goes. Usually someone like this will make a statement in their own defense, and Avi hasn't done that, which makes me think he's either been advised not to, or he's agreed not to. I'm kind of leaning toward him being paid off. We keep hearing that he didn't agree to be on camera, but we don't know what he did agree to. Maybe someone with Whitney's Razor can help me out here, because I tend to overthink.

It may simply be that he doesn't want to engage in a debate or argument with this lunatic Whitney (who's gone full Fat-al Attraction at this point).  Maybe he's heeding the maxim to (no pun intended) "not feed the trolls', recognizing Whitney as doing nothing more than trolling his actual life.

At the same time, assuming he's not a completely made-up and scripted "character" (which is not out of the range of possibility) his defense that "you were all nothing more than fuck-buddies and ATM's to me", while completely defensible if he was honest about it (and I suspect he may have been honest enough) doesn't exactly cover him in glory.

I think you nailed it on the head. Taking the episodes at face value (despite knowing its scripted) Whit comes across as a psychotic stalker. The fact that Whit and TLC are ok with this speaks volumes.

She said the affair lasted from Sep 2016-Mar 2017. But that's WhitneyMath, remember. There is the evidence on her FB page, however, that she first began going nuts about what she perceived as Avi's infidelity in Apr 2017.

Payoff! Excellent theory. Since he is apparently perpetually short of cash -- which Twit mentioned in her live video last night -- that would certainly explain why he hasn't responded to her character assassination of him. Waiting until the end of the season makes sense, too, esp. since she is STILL carrying on about him on FB.

According to Roy Brown, TLC tried to get him to be in a "Whitney + Roy" story arc this season, so it's certainly within the realm of possibility Avi is also just a scripted character. Twit's Apr 2017 FB meltdown seems to mitigate that theory, but I definitely think Twit's affair with Avi was a lot less intense than either delusional Twit or scriptwriting TLC made it to be.

I don't have sympathy for any of them, not the "victimized" women, not Avi. Mostly I think it's super tacky behavior from all involved and I'm confused about why we're supposed to care enough for TLC and the Sweat Posse to keep producing more breathless sessions exposing more minutiae (in contrast to the Sweat Posse exposing their resemblance to Gargantua).

That said, I don't think Avi was in on it. I think both he and TLC/Sweatney have consulted their respective lawyers and as long as she and TLC don't give his surname or show his face, he has no cause of action. Truth serves as a defense even if they did, and he'd find it time consuming and difficult to prove a personal "injury" based just on what they've done this far. He's seeing the consequences of choosing to mess around with a woman who has the unfortunate combo of no dignity and a huge platform.

I don't know how to say this without sound insensitive toward really fat people in general, but I find myself a little curious how sex with a woman Whitney's size would work.  I mean..... there's just so much distance between the outer layers of fat and the.... uh... waffle iron of love (sorry, I'm pretty bashful too).  How do you reach your love ladle into it?  I feel like you'd have to have a really big.... ladle.

Welp, only last week I posited Whitney's Razor (that "Whitney lying about shit in order to create a story line for the show" is always the most likely explanation for any of her behavior), and this week she provides a textbook example.
