My guess is it would be quite a while before Whitney would face up to  a normal, nine-to-five job. I think if the show is cancelled, she'd try to make a living as a celebrity in the body acceptance movement - giving talks, shilling her clothing and her cruise. But I don't think her audience was big enough or her fan base wide enough (no double meaning intended!) for her to sustain her income on her "celebrity" alone.  She might try for an on-air radio gig at a bigger station. I don't see it being possible for her to revive the Big Girl Dance Class herself; I think she's not physically capable of doing that anymore. But maybe she would try franchising it.

I've been back and forth because I haven't heard much about many of the bigger shows, they just announced this week that the little couple is coming back, im sure the Duggars are safe, especially with Jill's baby and a wedding coming, I think little people big world is safe, i haven't heard anything about sister wives or my 600 lb life though... so I'm not sure where Whitney stands in all that.

When it was renewed for season 5 (the one that just ended with James and his brother) My 600 lb. Life also announced that it was looking for participants for the sixth season, which would start filming in January of 2017.  So I assume it will show up on the TLC schedule at some point.

I'm so over TLC and its obsession with weddings. I hate Say Yes to the Dress and all the other wedding-themed shows, the Duggars' crap, even the crap with the SW weddings. There's always a damn wedding show marathon on that channel. It's boring.

So when TLC cancels her, she will have to get a damn job. OH THE HUMANITY!

I can't imagine her doing that, at least not until she tries every other option, like youtube and yet more "exercise?" videos.

My last employer had no dress code, but I think HR would have taken her aside if she showed up in some of those get-ups.

Watching reruns of What Not to Wear, and just saw one with a woman who caused her boss to put in a dress code.  Whit might cause that too.

I think TLC is sick of diva shit. They are probably not put up with her demands of no food etc.

They have the power, not her. Her ratings aren't that great (I think). If she doesn't like what they want, they will tell her to go scratch.

However can you imagine her fans would say if they cancel. We would hear fat shaming, discrimination, boycotts. How dare they fire the queen of lard!

YES! I'm over the wedding genre. There not much variation in the story lines, deninitly not however many seasons worth. Side note, I was talking to a guy and we were talking about a mutual love of reality shows and I said my favorites are the ones on TLC, until I realized what the implication of that was and quickly had to clarify I liked the hot mess ones... not the wedding ones, which seemed to put him at ease

If something is stalling the renewal Whitney is probably continuing to act like the spoiled entitled brat she is and making demands.

TLC KNOWS that since they hold all the cards that she will eventually agree to anything.

Since the ratings are not good, I see TLC wanting one more season hoping she ends up immobile or worse. That would hike up ratings aka profit for one last hurrah.

There are many waiting in the wings to take her place and the production company is probably fed up with Whitney, her family, her friends and their numerous dysfunctions and personality disorders.

Actually, how often does a cable channel, as opposed to a network, announce a cancellation? Of course, they do if there's a scandal -- witness Mama June or the Duggard rapist son. But it seems most of the time a cable show just disappears without any notification. I wonder if that's what's happening with MBFFL. If so, I think it's likely Twit is trying to find a slot on another cable -- maybe Oxygen? -- so she doesn't have to announce MBFFL's demise but, rather, it's movement to a different channel.

Just a thought.

I don't know about that; shows do move to new channels when cancelled without changing their names. For example, this year a show called "Nashville" moved from a network to a country music cable channel.

Anyone missing the sound of Whitney's laughter? She's posted a clip of a conversation on her Facebook page where Tal/Rufus tells the story of their first meeting, a story she "just loves!" She laughs all the way through.  Apparently, although a virgin, she had a reputation as a "sexual vixen," a description she is just so happy about! (I wonder if she is disappointed that most of the Nit-Whits are not responding with comments about how sexy she is, but rather with comments about how cute Tal/Rufus is.)

I think it depends on who "owns" the rights to the show.  If MBFFL was created and taped by a separate production company pursuant to a contract with TLC (or TLC's parent company), then unless something in that contract gives the network the equivalent of a "non-compete clause", upon cancellation the production company would be free to shop the show to other networks.  Of course, Discovery Communications owns half of the basic-cable dial.  But I suppose Lifetime Networks would be an option.

But it's primarily hotties hanging around the pool and imagining themselves married to each other, and every week that no one proposes people get eliminated!  So unless they change the entire concept of the show, I don't think it's Whitney Way Thore's thang.

How proud her parents must be.

Gahhhhh.

It's anyone's guess how many times they have had the conversation wondering where they went wrong in raising her.

Can you imagine the vast disappointment of Babs in having a daughter like Twit?

And how long ago did  Glen give up hope of walking "his little girl" down the aisle?

No grace, physically or behaviorally.

When used to describe one's self, Bitch, sometimes, means a strong,  assertive woman. I had a necklace in t h e 70's that said it.

It's a way of taking back old, pejorative terms to own them in a proud way, v. being ashamed or put down.

When someone gets called it by a man,  it would be mean, unless you own it proudly, like taking a stand to not be a doormat.

Kind of like a t-shirt I saw that said "Nasty Woman", to throw it back in the face of decriers, and those that want women back in their place.

Although  to me,  "sexual vixen"  would mean a tease,  or someone who experiments with sexual practices. A virgin would be in the first category, I guess.  Otherwise, IDK.

Awesone reputation to have!

Not.

Yep, Twit's career as foodie/chubbie porn is in the works online with those pics we saw in older posts and that vile video with the rapper.

Tosia, I want to thank you for your explanation . I never thought  of it that way. Still not how I would  describe  myself ,  a somewhat  strong  assertive  women ,  but I will feel more comfortable  hearing a woman  use that term about  herself . I just always  felt odd hearing  someone  use a term that  I felt was a put down .

This says it has been renewed.  It gives me mixed feelings, because she doesn't deserve it, but I'd miss the snark.

That site has had that announcement for a while but I don't think that site is reliable. If you look closely, you'll see it's dated in early February, and none of the other sites that report on TV shows, including TLC's have announced MBFFL has been renewed.  Surely, if Whitney had been renewed in February, she wouldn't be shrugging and saying she has no idea when her show will re-start this past week on her livestream.

The fact that there's been no official renewal announcement means little to me as far as TLC is concerned.  In recent years they've been very quiet about renewing a lot of their shows and taking longer and longer to start their new seasons.  I went through this earlier this year with "Sister Wives" and "Long Island Medium".  Just when you think it's been too long and they're not going to get renewed, somehow they do.  TLC has so little new stuff that succeeds anymore that they keep bringing back the old stuff even if the ratings aren't that great.  Like how many times have they resuscitated "Little People, Big World"?  Just when it looks like they exhausted everything they can possibly stretch out for another season they manufacture something new even if it's boring or fictional.  I'm long past watching that show anymore and I can't believe they just won't let it DIE a respectable death already!  I'll bet they have a bunch of producers sitting around a conference table all brainstorming new angles to keep Twit on the air right now.  I hate to say it, but judging from their pattern I'll bet they're going to think up even more ridiculous, made up crap for her to pretend is her "fabulous" life and continue to present her in a bad light just because they hate her by now.

I don't think that there will be any further dance battles.  The first couple of times might have been fine, but to ask people to practice for free for what is a scripted TV show probably goes against some sort of acting union principle.

The radio show probably did it for free publicity.

I'm speaking more fiscally. A dance troupe of 10 women practicing and performing on camera.  They have to be paid.  And not at background rates.  They're probably required to be paid at special skill rate.  When I did it, it jumped from 15/hr to 70/hr, and that's for playing a hostage on my knees.

That dance battle with it's multi cam and crane shots means that each dance is performed multiple times.

It's all fake, and it requires that many people be paid.  The shoots are going to get stupider with less people per scene.

To be honest, I'd watch her do nothing.  There's something fascinating to watching someone screaming 'why is this happening to me?' when it's plainly obvious to everyone except her, while she screams 'nothing's wrong, I'm perfectly fine'.

If you want some other fun, google 'ragen chastain'. that's another fun rabbit hole.

And TLC already has a whiny, pouty, privileged, white, full-of-herself replacement for Twit. The only difference is that one is a transgender teenager & the other is a trans-svelte 30-something. Anyone who's watched an episode of "I Am Jazz" knows whereof I speak.

I'm harking back to a joke I made a ways upthread. Briefly, I said since Rachel Dolezal (the white woman caught out pretending to be black) is now calling herself transracial, Twit should start referring to herself as trans-svelte. "The other is a trans-svelte 30-something" means Twit, not some unknown surgeon.

Boy, my joke-telling abilities really suck! ?

Oh, I see. Lol. Not your jokes, I am a little dense sometimes. In my defense, if one were to remove the hyphen, and, given a remark I read about that physician possibly wanting more screen time I guess it could be construed that you were talking about her.  And, from what I understand, she is not unknown by any means.

Thanks for 'splainin' it to me.

It's it's own variation of SJW that's self unaware.  For lack of a better description, imagine Whitney, as lazy as she is, 'training' for an ironman triathalon, despite not being a good swimmer, runner, and deathly afraid of /able to ride a bicycle.

Dear lord. It is amazing the similarities between Ragen and Whitney, as far as total delusion about their physical fitness and how it connects to their delusion about their size/health in general. Also they are both PROFESSIONAL DANCERS.

Well Twit might have more socially relevant dancing, ie hip hop.  At least she does have some skill, but that's the advantage of youth I gues.
