This date has already been postponed once by Smuggar's attorneys. I think it was filed maybe a year ago? Too busy to go hunting for it atm.

I have to say I'm surprised that you could sue Smugs in Cali. Do you know if there's still a chance that they'll find it can't be done in that venue? Or are we past that? (I hope we're past that, actually. But I also don't really get how he can be sued there (unless there's a secret California life we don't know about!))

Good question. Aren't criminal cases involving the internet automatically Federal? Have the laws in civil suits caught up with the internet?

Exactly. This is what I wonder. The Internet must be absolutely playing havoc with legal jurisdictions, but I have no idea how it's all shaking out (if it is -- maybe lawmakers are mostly just ignoring it .... that would lead to an even bigger mess, though...)

In April, Josh's attorneys tried to get the lawsuit thrown out because Josh didn't live in California.

On June 7th, the Plaintiff "called Duggar’s argument that California Court doesn’t have personal jurisdiction over him – due to his belief any photos used were on passive internet websites – mistaken.

"McCarthy explained in legal papers that he believes the court will not grant Duggar’s motion to dismiss on the grounds he has no ties to California. McCarthy blasted this assertion, alleging the reality star used his photo on sites like Ashley Madison to solicit dates with individuals outside of Arkansas — and especially in California.

"McCarthy pleaded with the judge to order Duggar to participate in discovery — and for the reality star to admit he used a dating profile on Ashley Madison, that he communicated with other users based in California, and to answer whether he used another person’s photo, representing it as himself on the site. However, Duggar has refused to participate in discovery pending the decision on his motion."

That's the last thing I've read about it.  I don't know if the judge has given a ruling yet, but Josh is jacking up the legal fees.

Thanks. Interesting.

Who knows what they already have in the can that they haven't shown us yet? They still have to tape JoKen's wedding. Will Smuggar be a groomsman, or will TLC forbid it? THIS is one place we can see if the lawsuit made any difference in TLC's thinking. He was bright-lighted out of Jinger's wedding in the "goodbye" scene and not seen at all in Joy's wedding. His kid supposedly got stitches, but he's nowhere to be found. I guess someone has to run his shitty junker lot, but aren't the boy twins also in on that venture? Surely, he could have met Anna down at the TTH to meet up with the family there after their trip to the doctor. But he was nowhere to be seen, so it looks like that as of six months ago, TLC was still holding fast to their zero screen-time policy where Smuggar is concerned.

I wish they would do the same with Michelle and Jim Bob.  Michelle appeared in the kitchen on the last episode.  At least they didn't allow her to speak!

Was Joe the one who semi-articulately said how disappointed he was with Josh? Probably won't want him as a groomsman. Even in Jill's and Jessa's weddings he was relegated to an MC type role, IIRC.

I think that was John-David.  Possibly also Joe but definitely John-David, because he got some approving comments 'round these parts.

I can see why Smuggar was MCing those weddings. He was still in DC then, so he didn't have a chance to get to really know either Derelict or Binjermin. They picked their own real friends plus a Duggar brother or two. Smuggar was obviously back in AR for the JinJer courtship and nuptials, but it doesn't appear that JereME forged any kind of friendship with him, instead picking JD and Ben to stand up with hi, sm. OR he has made friends with Smugs, but TLC said no to him being in the wedding party. I dunno though. Jinger never seemed particularly close to Anna, so I don't know how much exposure JereME had to Smuggar during his visits.

And why, exactly, is Anna still on the show these days?  It was cool to see her sobbing over the actions of her scumbag husband, but that was two years ago.  It's weird to see her hanging out on the show with Josh carefully swept under the carpet.  Is it just because she keeps having babies and TLC is 'counting on?'  Am I the only one who feels this way?

There's probably been more; they have just been able to cover these up. Can you imagine what an embarrassment he must have been to his family?

Of course they're a giant embarrassment as well. Making him an embarrassment to an embarrassment.

Could be worse, I think. He could be an embarrassment to a family who didn't deserve an embarrassment. Whereas, in m opinion, Jizm Bob and Meeeechelle deserve pretty much any embarrassment their kids might live to dish out. .....

I'm only sorry they have don't have more truly embarrassing kids, actually.

I'd also love it if Gotharddom had produced hundreds of embarrassing people. As it is, though, it seems mostly to have produced hundreds of sad, depressed, stunted people, and a handful of huuuuuuge embarrassments -- most of them with the last name "Gothard."

At least they didn't blab on about the great things god has in store for her.

But they don't have to ....it's a given.....at least 10 more kids until her her uterus falls out / menopause sets in, whichever comes first....and a state of "baby fever" in between each pregnancy.

Is Anna drying a strawberry?

Yes, with a grubby facecloth.

Sorry, not sorry, Anna will always look like a grown up Cindy Lou Who.

If she really were Cindy Lou Who, though, she'd have had a way less stupid upbringing and would have a lot more honesty and a lot more guts. A grown-up Cindy Lou Who would probably have kicked her personal Grinch to the curb -- or kicked him around the block until he straightened up -- some time ago. Anna should take a note from her face twin.

In other news, couldn't they crop the strawberry and the blurry left-hand figure out of said photo?

The blurry figure  (Jana??) is hiding another blurry figure....do I see a doughy arm? The camera probably has an auto-blur feature in case Joshley's around.

On the plus side, her hair looks like it has been cut at some point.

Most likely to the length of Joshley's favorite porn star.
