It's hard to watch the St Jude ads in general but showcasing children that did not survive seems as a cruel way to appeal to donors.

It's very sad, but it's real life.  If they implied that all the children they treat survive it would be worse, giving false hope.  I don't like seeing it, but it's they way things really are.

This is sort of like my problem with the ASPCA ads.  The implication that they are saving the lives of all those rescued animals, when in fact, at least some of them are likely going to be put to sleep.

I agree.  It highlights why the research is important, because not everyone survives now.

I see this ad for private jet travel A LOT on a channel I watch, which is not a channel oriented toward very wealthy people, so I really wonder why I keep seeing it. They guy is so damn smug, and somehow signing a business deal is one the "most important moments in your life." And they guy who doesn't have this private jet for hire company looks like such a loser (I know, that's the idea)

I'm a horrible horrible person for this but I can't watch the shriners christmas commercial asking for donations. Cozy tv they shos it at least once every half hour. I have to turn down the volume. And it goes on forever.

And that blanket you get for giving $19 a month is not that adorable.

Just saw a credit card commercial with a couple on a date. They walk to the girl’s door, which she tells him is hers, and the guy says “it’s still early, want to get coffee?” They do and then do 20 other date things. So “still early” for what? This makes it sound like she had some kind of time limit for this date, yet she then was able to go do a bunch of other activities. Also, it was even earlier before they walked to her house—why didn’t he propose coffee before that? Oh, and not that this matters on its own, but what time of day was this date anyway? It was clearly light outside when he said “still early.”

Also, some lotion commercial where the woman is speaking in like a coffeehouse-poetry way and refers to skin as, among various other adjectives, “glazed.” For whatever reason, I do not like that, haha!

So is that Trace Atkins doing the I'll Be Home for Christmas ads? I'll be the first to admit, I don't know one country singer from another but doesn't he also do the Wounded Warrior ones?

I've wondered that as well. I decided that their first "date" was one of those first dates that are "just for coffee," to see if you have any interest. Of course you're right, the second phase of the date would normally be proposed at the coffee shop, not her door LOL.

It's so...over the top.  "Glazed, glowing, all-knowing"  Who wrote that copy?

A commercial I’ve seen quite a lot lately for a razor: adult son video calls his father while shaving (odd enough, but I get it’s the whole premise of the ad).  But the head-scratching part for me is who wears a clean white crew neck t-shirt and backwards baseball cap while shaving?  I’m guessing the hat is to appeal to a younger demographic but…head scratcher to me, at least.

I HATE that commercial! The son looks like a douchebag and the father reminds me of Medicare Martha with his mugging and exaggerated reactions.

OOOH! I can live with "glazed" (though I don't think that sounds like a positive for a body lotion at all!) if I also get "all knowing."

If you want me to see your movie, how about you leave the images on the screen long enough for me to figure out what/who I'm looking at? Why do these commercials go flick-flick-flick nowadays? There was one the other day which stars someone who might be an actress I like, might be someone who just looks like her, or might be someone who looks nothing like her, but it went by so fast I couldn't even identify who she reminded me of.

Another stroke of genius from Bounty. “Drying with Bounty leaves your hands cleaner than drying with a used dishcloth.”  Well duh. Too bad those are our only two options.

And cleaner than drying with used toilet paper.

But serious, they need to retire their "Noooooo!!!" campaign because that well has run dry.

I just read a story about this shark tank guy's plane being mistaken for Ohtani's plane, flying to Toronto (people thought the baseball star was going to sign with Toronto and showed up at the airport to cheer him when he got off the plane, which he didn't). The funny thing is, the article mentions that this guy has HIS OWN PRIVATE PLANE. Not this uber-for-planes thing.

What's with that Carvana woman screaming, "HOOOOOOOOOLD" at her husband? What's the point of the screaming?

Who the hell are they? For some reason i think I'm sppsd to recognize them. Also, cars lose value as they age, so why is she waiting for the "perfect price"? 🤔 It's a strictly downhill curve, ma'am. Your resale value is never going to increase!

And they always push the spilled liquid toward whatever it is they're trying to save instead of getting ahead of the liquid.

They are actors, Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell. I hate the way she yells, "HOOOOOLLLLDDDD," like she is giving coaching directions to someone in labor. I won't speak to the value of cars because that is so subjective.

It's like that horrible commercial from a loan company and someone yells ,"LOAN CANNON," I hate that.

And what they show on her phone IS the car's value going down.  So I really don't get that at all.  But it's Kristin Bell and Dax Shepard, both of whom I find insufferable anyway.

Because of supply chain issues, used car values got turned on their heads. I bought a new car in 2019. Once the pandemic hit in 2000, the dealer was contacting me almost weekly to buy it back.

That did happen (I got emails from my dealer about it too) but used car prices are starting to go back down, by a lot.  The pandemic price bump is over.  So Kristin & Dax's minivan is not increasing in value no matter what she wants us to believe.

They can't move the carpet in the one where they're incompetent idiots who can't assemble an IKEA coffee table, but they could wipe the grape soda AWAY from the edge of the table.

I don't know, but maybe they could have tested the table by putting something that would not make a mess on it first? OTOH, if it was that rickety, it should have collapsed on its own.

Yeah! And considering there are usually 2 people, they could move the thing AND wipe the spill! Come ON, man!

That's what I always wonder. There's always at least two people there. One person could grab the laptop, lotto ticket or cake while the other person grabs a paper towel.

Yeah, he was an idiot for not trying it with something that didn't have liquid in it. Even if I was dumb enough to have a drink as soon as I saw the bag full of stuff  I definitely wouldn't put anything on the coffee table. You don't need to be Bob Vila to know that's coming down.

At the moment, I’m blanking on what it’s even for, but the ad with the mom walking in and her young daughter has cut up a top because “It’s superhero day at school!” Then the older daughter created a huge mess doing some sort of moronic dance.

I have a very low tolerance for brats, either in real life or on TV. But at least in this case, I don’t get the impression I’m supposed to think they’re adorable.

I think it's for Eggos.  I seem to remember the dad looking at them popping up in the toaster.

I have a high tolerance for ads, but the Cascade pod ad where the woman pulls a dish out of the dishwasher and says something to the effect - know what it's like to have a dish that's not clean? Then, in the most smug face and voice humanly possible, says "I don't". Really - it's not that hard to figure out what products work best. Doesn't make you a genius.

Oh yeah, she really annoys me as well.

There's a commercial that plays during every commercial break on Pluto TV for a podcast hosted by two girls titled "No Baby Mama Drama" that starts with an annoying "Here we go!" and one of them reading about a man who faked his death to avoid child support. Who the hell are these girls? I assume they're from the Teen Mom show but they're annoying as hell. 😡

Youtube has jumped on the donate to depressing charity commericals. I think they might actually have the ones on TV beat because there's so many different ones. Israel, Afghanistan, no food, parents' of Sandy Hook victims, Patrick Stewart and other celebrities talking about horrible things, medical problems. I know it's all important and makes sense giving how many people watch Youtube. But I can't watch them anymore then the St. Judes and abused animals on TV.

I can think of no good reason why I hate this ad so much, but I hate this ad so much. Maybe it's the idiot woman trying to run in high heels while balancing a dessert ON ONE HAND.

Yeah, hilarity ensures, NOT.

And of course they get into their Lincoln and all is calm. Because the car is THAT GREAT.

I don't hate it, but I completely support your right to.  I have both irrational and rational hatred for almost every ad out there, and this one actually doesn't bother me too much.  But, hey that's fine, I'm happy to stand behind you in protest as a fellow stupid commercial hater.  What I don't understand is why someone is trying to convince me that the Lume commercial is actually a fine, perfectly acceptable and benign piece of advertising, whereas I see it as a hateful, hair-pulling-out-inducing, screamfest piece of crap that is being constantly forced in front of my face while I'm eating my dinner.  Help?
