LOL, no. Hofer has been on one soap in a mid-level supporting role for less than three years. That does not a A-list soap star make.

Maybe it does in his book lol! I mean, he was paired with Joss and was in stories with Sonny, Carly and Michael. I don’t consider CD an A lister either.

I honestly don't think Chad Duell has any Illusions about what's waiting for him. He's pushing 40 and he stayed on the show for about 15 years without trying to break out. I could see Evan Hofer actually trying because he's still young. I can see the BI actually being about Evan, although it does surprise me if he made the choice to leave because he's been sucking up to his cast members on social media.

CD had a couple of guest starring roles in prime time but was decidedly unimpressive. The one that stands out for me was some supernatural thing where he played a demon or devil or some such character. I think he was supposed to be scary but I just laughed. I can see it in my head but can’t for the life of me remember the show!

I agree, I can't imagine Chad has these delusions.  But actors are a special breed and you never know.  I also don't believe this was Evan's choice, he has kind of presented himself as the mayor of the cast.  He greets and gives tips to all the newcomers.   I think this whole blind item is BS and don't even believe it's true of either of them.

The only non-GH thing I can remember seeing him in was Wizards of Waverly Place, and he was not good.

Yeah and it can also be a little of both.  I mean she’s been phoning it in for a long time now, and that was made even more apparent by all the flashbacks they showed during her exit.  She’s not really had the best writing either but the pros will give it their all no matter what type of dreck is written for them.  She didn’t do that.  She was starting to come around recently with Sam being paired with Dante, but too little too late I suppose.  Still, she’s been around a long time so I can see her feeling salty about being let go when others not much better than her are allowed to stay.

He started off promising with his vendetta against Sonny, but since that wasn’t allowed to go anywhere he kind of fizzled out.  I think he could have a decent career though.  I don’t think that blind item is about Chad.  I don’t think he has those delusions.  He’s nearing middle age so I doubt he thinks he’s going to hit it big now.

In one of his interviews, Evan talked about when Frank told him he was being killed off. Evan was someone who clearly wanted to be there and it showed, but they wrote the character unlikable from the start (per their norm) and looked for him to fill voids left by two very popular folks that he simply didn’t have the chops for and saddled him with a pairing where there was no substance to it. Some of the PR we are seeing could’ve been GH too because he was an ambassador for the show and is exiting in a way that they like so they might’ve wanted to help him a bit. Petty and spiteful people make their points in ways one might not expect in my experience. 

Chad clearly was unhappy for a long while and people he worked with openly discussed it. Because of his tenure, the show may have given him the courtesy of saying it was his decision, even if it wasn’t, but I really do believe that this was his choice as he says it was. His father‘s death may have led to him really evaluating things and deciding to make some changes. 

That blind could be about someone from a different soap or Enty and co. just playing games.

I wouldn't rely on Enty for any accurate information. At one point, around a decade or so ago, he happened to have a couple blinds that turned out to be true. The subject matter was something that attracted some overzealous conspiracy theorists, who are kind of desperate for their conspiracies to be real. So, it turned into a thing where most of his blind items were coming from them, and all centered around that subject. He was posting them, because it brought eyeballs, but I suspect that it chased his genuine sources away from wanting to be associated with his site. So, he posts those unvetted blinds and, to keep some kind of "credibility" he fills in with posts like this one that are vague and generic enough that you can assume it applies to any number of people, and something that's believable but not provable. Stuff like this one is practically automatically "true," because there are always actors coming and going on soaps. And it's easy to assume, unless they're of retirement age, that they left because they are looking for bigger and better things. 

In this case, it really doesn't feel like this fits either Chad or Evan.  Chad's IMDB is pretty sparse, so between that, his age, and the fact that he recently had a kid, it just feels like it would be an insanely stupid move on his part to just quit and assume Hollywood will fall at his feet with big roles. I figure he's likely got something already lined up to keep the money coming, whether that's another acting job (most likely on another soap) or something non-acting. And Evan seems like it was genuinely the show's choice, not his. He seemed to very much like where he was, and he did everything he could to endear himself to the show and viewers.

Evan seems like a nice enough person. He just doesn’t have much talent. And whatever he had disappeared when he became Malibu Dex (blond highlights). Certainly not his fault the writing sucked and I wish him the best. But I won’t miss him.

I really have to agree here. In Chad's case, I'm thinking he might just have finally realized that acting really isn't for him. He's 38-ish, his dad died, and he may have looked in the mirror and realized that he doesn't want to keep doing this. It's not like soap opera life is a cushy job, either. It's essentially like doing a play every day, with no rehearsals and 15-hour days or whatever. 

Evan REALLY tried everything he could to get the producers to like him and want to keep him around. And I honestly think that's why he lasted as long as he did last. Honestly he might do okay. The really bad Kristina that everyone said was an awful actress wound up having a pretty decent career after all. He should probably get Cameron Mathison to hook him up with Hallmark or whatever.

PCPD characters rarely, if ever, get good stories. Things just are not set up to favor them on GH, and that's been the case since Guza I in the '90s. Dante is one of the luckier ones. He's a Sonny offspring and they can trot out the "torn between family and duty" thing from time to time, and his signature coupling is with the princess of the Spencer dynasty. But Taggert, Mac, Cooper, Jordan, Valerie, Nathan, Rory, Dex, and Chase all have been low figures on the totem pole for longer and shorter durations. I guess you could say Chase is a pretty heavily featured character, but it's easy to forget he is a cop. Most of his story has been about his family and his romantic relationships. Lucky spent most of his time on the B-list, if not lower, when he was a police officer played by Greg Vaughan. Dex's story prominence plummeted the second he was estranged from Sonny.

The Hofer era looked to me as if Frank and Co. wanted to make a good-looking young guy with a good attitude happen as a fan favorite, despite his not being so hot at the acting (at least, at this point). It didn't happen to the degree they were hoping, they eventually gave up, and "cop" was the terminal phase of the giving-up. Best to Hofer on whatever comes next.

I have to agree with several of their picks, especially the worst of. Natalia as the worst new character is especially spot on. GH is definitely trying to retcon her bigoted entrance. They need to cut their losses, though I do like Eva LaRue, just not in this role given the whitewashing they are trying to do with her

I'm still unclear why they chose to go down this road with Natalia if they were planning on having her long term. 

It's not even like she was struggling with her daughter's sexuality. She was/is plain hateful, then she wonders why her kids don't wanna talk to her or be around her.

The character is as tone deaf as they come and the show needs to cut their losses. Nothing against the actress, though I'm sure someone in makeup has a problem with her because they are doing a piss poor job with her makeup blending.

I view it as Eva should cut her losses.  What Frank did to her is a real shame.  If she can get out of her contract she should.

I know. It's really hard to rehab a Noted Bigot when the town is angrier that her Noted Bigotry was exposed rather than she's a Noted Bigot. I was glad the blurb mentioned how absurd that was, as well as the idea that we're supposed to forgive Noted Bigot Natalia because she's now with Sonny, who if the show had any integrity would have him stay as far away from her as possible, given how hateful she is toward one of his daughters.

It's interesting to watch JE and SB together because they are so rarely scene partners. I think JE may be the one remaining original cast member playing a Quartermaine, who was there when SB was cast as teenage Jason. So - they've known each other for, what, 30 years? Tracy got one thing wrong, though. Jason did pretend to be someone he wasn't - when he was in the role of baby Michael's father keeping AJ away from his child.

Elizabeth is a great mom; she raised Cameron to be a real gentleman. That hug and goodbye was much more than Josslyn deserves from him.

I assume the sorta-secret of Nina and Drew's sexual relationship is going to blow up while he's spending Christmas with them at Nina's place.

And just the other day Natalia was telling Sonny how she'd planned out her son's musical career -- until he took off and went no contact, so they're portraying her as totally unswerving in her behavior since she was doing the same thing with Blaze. (But of course, all this allows Sonny to tell her how wonderful she really is.)

 

And I'm glad you  mentioned the makeup issue. I thought I was the only one noticing and was considering blaming my television, but it's been bad ever since she first appeared. One would think that by now someone would have figured out what to do.

No Emma was conceived on the day of Big Georgie funeral and has been aging gracefully from child to teen then young adult in college as of her last visit last year with Anna. Anna mentioned she was in college last year I believe

I'm surprised they actually did it. People have been saying for years they needed to recast Emma. Brooklyn was fine as a child actor but just did not develop into a good leading lady material actress. (See also: Robyn Richards although she did have some good moments.) I can't believe they finally admitted it.

Brooklyn said earlier that she was looking into nursing school so they would make sense if she declined to return.
