YES!!!! This is the best news I've heard in a while! I have been dying to rewatch that one - I almost tweeted Kelli after the interview a few weeks ago where she said "they are all on itunes" to say no, not the first two! and i would buy them! lol

@LaurenBrook I just looked on iTunes and the web site both...they're not available on iTunes, and CMT.com you still have to have a current cable provider to access.  Wish I could just purchase, would love to have all 10 seasons (and the 2-hour special from the year before, for that matter - still haven't seen it yet!).

@ShellyB I don't blame you at all for having the thoughts you do about some of the posts/topics, but I hope you can see how many of us feel so vested in the girls, and that we are in their corner and care about how they do and hope for good things for them.

Argghhhh! Ok, maybe @ShellyB can pass that on - that we'd love to be able to watch/purchase seasons 1 and 2! I've bought every other one on Amazon!

Yeah - I second this! - @shellyb I will officially believe you are who you are when I see season 1 and 2 on Amazon - and I promise to never snark on another DCC's weight, appearance or dance ability on this board if the 2 hour special is made available!  Please see what you can do :).

Hahaha....well, I wish I had that much influence over at CMT! Rest assured they read this forum too, so keep posting about it and maybe they'll take note. Oh, Peter...fans want S1 & S2 on Amazon. ?

Welcome to the board Shelly. It's nice to know that our speculation that DCC insiders know about this board is correct. It's maybe not so nice to know that sometimes the snarkiness actually hits it's target, as demonstrated by your original post pointing out some discussions. I fully admit to having a snarky opinion about Yuko's accomodation, and am aware that opinion means nothing in the grand scheme of things. I sincerely hope this girl doesn't have any additional issues which cause problems for the team. My own experience in mgmt has admittedly jaded my views - between thinking of possible problems that could come up, and thinking of the talented dancers that wouldn't have that "baggage", I'm skeptical to say the least.

In any case, I'm extremely excited to see Maddie's comeback, the highlight of how Kelli surprises the team with the 'you made it!!' announcement, and how Judy gets thru the formations for 37 without a headache.

Oh.... and Kelli and Judy's shoes... I want to see this years shoes, lol.

P.S. Peter (?)  more finals deliberations please!!!!

The thutt!  No comprehensive list of Kelli's put-downs can be without the thutt!

She was pretty ugly with Colby last season. I just watched that episode and it was so beyond obvious Kelli did not want her on the team. I don't think I've ever seen her dislike a candidate so blatantly. Maybe that was just editing, but I doubt it.

Yeah.  She was pretty catty about it.

Colby is a beautiful woman, elegant and gorgeous but was never DCC material. I still cringe for her, the way it all went down. Kelli seemed so full of contempt for her and I kind of get why (poor fit for the team and 'how-long-do-we-really-need-to-keep-her-around-she's-the-fan-vote-and-actually-no-way') but it was train wreck viewing ?

And, Peter, don't forget the original 2-hour special!

@ShellyB, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions here. There are definitely a lot of us who are here to be supportive of the girls, whether TCCs or DCCs. Thank you for joining us :)

I'm right at the end of my S10 rewatch and while Kelli did seem harsh at times, Colby - no matter how poised and attractive - was a hot mess.  She did do the annoying peek-a-boo thing while dancing.  She wasn't a strong performer. And she did look odd with the cheeks and squinting since her face was so thin and she'd had that lip filler.  She was pretty uncomfortable to watch. (In her favor, she does look soooooooooo much better now with a few pounds)  And all that talk of needing "breakthrough" moments ...

I'm actually surprised she survived as long as she did in camp.

TL/DR - I agree with most of your post lol

I got a link to a short article about Madeline.  I think it was a telephone interview of her mom.  Her mom and dad said something about Madeline's determination to fix whatever DCC said needed to be fixed for her return to TC.  And mentioned what an emotional and financial burden it was on the family.  It must be wonderful to have parents like that, especially from a dad.

Great to know that CMT reads this board -- some suggestions:

1) When Kelli is calling the names of those who have advanced to finals/training camp, please stop editing it such that it's OBVIOUS that you're showing them out of order.  It's so ridiculous to hear Kelli say "and the final person invited into the 2016-17 training camp is . . ." only to then cut to the audience of girls then cut back to Kelli who reads the name of someone who clearly wasn't the last one called (we know that because as the person walks to the front, we set girls seated in the audience whom you've already shown being called up!).  I understand the need to build suspense, but you should do that by arranging the order in which Kelli calls the name -- not after the fact in the editing room.

2)  For God's sake, show more of the solos at finals.  In fact, want to make some money?  Edit them together into a separate clips episode and sell it on iTunes for $2 -- you'd make quite a bit!

3)  Get rid of Melissa as a mentor -- in fact, get rid of her entirely.  It adds NOTHING.  It's clear she has no freaking clue how to mentor the girls and it just feels like filler.  You may think -- we'll what would we put in its place?  Simple:  more dancing!  It seems like if I want to see the girls dancing, I have to go to Youtube and watch videos shot by fans at the game.

4)  Add a new intro for the program -- seeing video of past girls who are now middle-aged makes the show seem stale.

5)  Things I don't give a crap about seeing:  the Belk fashion show, girls moving in with each other, obviously fake videos shot at the girls' place of employment, staged get-togethers of the rookies where they sit around and talk about last night's rehearsal.  Tortured human interest angles ("I survived a plane crash!" Snooze . . .)  Again, instead give us more dancing and rehearsal footage.

6)  Tell Kelli that her snarky comments about the girls behind their back might make for better TV, but it makes her look like an unprofessional bitch.

lol...sometimes the clips are edited so fast that we miss what action the girls are doing that elicits a remark from Kelli or Judy. I do like when cmt highlights the girl in question and slo mo's it down.  After watching all of the episodes of MTT, at the end it would be nice to see a performance at least a couple of minutes long. This would showcase the group as a team and we can see how well the team really does after all of the agony.

I would love to know the names of the 2 powerhouse jumpers in this photo.  The placement of their legs are awesome!  I know all of the vets, but sometimes I can't pick out my favs when they are dancing from a distance.  I assume the faces here are rookies as I don't recognize them.

Yes, but that wasn't really my point. My point was how catty and mean Kelli acted towards her. There just wasn't a reason for that behavior. Cut her and move on, no need for the over the top bitchiness. I really don't like mean girls, and Kelli has a tendency, whether that's her or editing, to come across as a middle aged version of Regina George.

Anyway, I'm off topic. I wonder who will get the treatment this season!

That middle-age comment stung a little, but I agree with loving to see full dances or solos somewhere.

I have zero ties to production, but if Belk, fit foods, etc are sponsors, they're not going anywhere. If the show doesn't bring in revenue, CMT won't keep it. Those product placement segments help offset people who record and skip commercials, etc. I don't mind the fashion show, and the bad fashions see to show up more on social media than the actual show.

LOL I don't think the girls in the intro actually qualify as middle aged.... They're mid 30s. That's about a decade plus younger than middle aged.

Yeah I'm mid 30s and was like OUCH! I guess technically if average life span is 72ish, then 36 is the middle, but I thought Kelli and Judy were more middle aged.

i like seeing the throwbacks in the I introduced, but wouldn't mind a new one either. I guess that's a cmt call as well.

A lot of them aren't even that old. After all that intro was filmed around ten years ago and some of those girls were 18-19 at the time. I get the exaggeration, but I'm balking at girls my age being called middle aged, lol.

If I can count correctly, it appears to be 4th and 5th girl in from the left end of the kickline.

Yes, I know "middle-age" is stretching -- I just wanted to hit the point that those girls were DCCs a long time ago.  And I'm mid-40s, so to me, mid 30s is very, very young!  :-)

True and also true that in Dancer Land, mid 30s is headed toward geriatric. Now let me go ice my hip and wrap my knee again. It's raining in PA today.

i still like the very first 2 hr and season 1 girls in the intro. It would be fun to have some of them do a 'where are they now' shoutout as a web extra or on social media.

Madeline is certianly a princess when it comes to her family and small town.  Maybe they actually had to pay for dance classes at another studio cause what she was learning at her moms studio wasn't good enough.

The more I hear about them the more they make me roll my eyes - what parent would talk to reporters about what "an emotional and financial burden" something like a pro dance tryout is on their family - there are families dealing w/ real issues like a serious illness, house fire, job loss - someone describing their 18 year old homecoming queen's struggle to be a DCC that way kind of has their priorities messed up IMO.

Regarding CMT/DCC reading these boards:

I think it became obvious that someone read the boards when all of Jay’s workouts were taken out of the show.  They were in every episode. Some were good, some were bad but they took him out completely, which was a bad thing in my opinion.  I liked what he did with the girls, it just didn’t need to be a part of every episode.  More Jay please.  He adds something smart and healthy to the show.

BUT the one thing they never is change is the lack of dance.  After the initial auditions, it is a struggle to see a full dance during training camp.  Fans of the show here have been asking and asking and asking. FOR YEARS. But that has not changed. There might be a reason (choreography-?) but lovers of this show are frustrated. It is a dance show after all.

The Belk "fashion show" is perhaps the single stupidest thing that has been introduced to the show.  WHY DO THE GIRLS NEED TO KNOW HOW TO WALK A RUNWAY? For the cheesy “fashion show” that is forced upon them when shooting the swimsuit calendar? If that is part of the deal with the hotel than that rider needs to go away and fast.  Girls walking a catwalk in thongs and boots is not a fashion show.  I get why they need to know how to be photographed but the fashion show is embarrassing to the organization, in my opinion of course.

Lastly, I think what we want as viewers want to see is change.  I loved the etiquette classes but they were included in the show two or three times and they were the same each time.  If you are going to repeat something, make it different.  Media training with Sandy Newton was SO SMART.  But that was in the first few years (every girl should be comfortable in front of a camera).  We saw social media training, which was great but the changes discussed in the session never happened so it was a waste.

I am such a fan of the show and loved the sisterhood that was evident from the 2 hour special. The lack of back biting and drama is what makes this show stand out from the rest. But CMT got lazy. Nothing tops Season 2.  It was the best editing we’ve seen on this show.

Thanks for letting me rant.

  • Love 11

Omg I LOVED the etiquette classes, especially the season with Abigail Klein!!!! I miss Jay too. I could go without Belk, although I do enjoy seeing the alumni, and Melissa Rycroft.

Same here... That was like the golden age of DCC. Well, and a few years before as well. So many gorgeous girls!

  • Love 3

I think including local DCC alumni in the Belk Fashion Show is supposed to make up for the lack of  the where are they now episode"? Kelli (Judy?) said hey were pushing for it but it was too expensive at the end of the day so CMT didn't move forward. This is small show or a small network, I'm sure their budget is very different than other reality shows.

The calendar shoot has aired locally the past few years but was only incorporated into the national show once that I can remember. If the episode is already locked, not sure why it isn't shown in the following season each time? You would think CMT would try to expand on their 'highest ranked show'. No need for the fake "we just bought 20 tickets for vets only" nonsense, just have a title card that says "this was shot earlier this year" and then film the calendar reveal. I like being able to see the girls throughout the season! I'm not into the bikini fashion show but I think its a necessary evil for the girls.

I still can't believe she made the fan vote. She was just so odd looking. Not out of shape. Not overweight. Not ugly. But just something about her face, the squinting and expressions were so off-putting that it was hard for me to believe people were attracted to her just from her video. On the other hand, her personality was charming and sweet and I think she came across as way more intelligent and poised than many of the candidates do. But again, the fans wouldn't know that just from seeing a video of her dancing.

  • Love 1

Yes get rid of Melissa! Shelly seriously tell them that the majority of viewers (you know the ones that put money in their pocket) agree that Melissa brings zero to the table.  Or if they're determined to keep her then make her talk about what makes her interesting which is the Bachelor, not her all star mirror trophy.

IMHO Kelli seemed irritated that Colby only got in because of the fan vote. Maybe she would have like to see another girl get in instead.

I doubt they will get rid of Melissa Rycroft any time soon. Not everyone here dislikes her -- I for one have enjoyed some of her segments, but I have a bit of a soft spot for her because she's one of my favorite girls from the first few seasons. Regardless of what people here think though, I'm sure she does bring in some viewers. It's not like she's a super star, but she does have fans, and since she's somewhat relevant to the organization as an alumni, it's a win win for them. While we would all be thrilled to see other girls like Michelle Keys on the show, the average viewer is more likely to know who Melissa Rycroft is, and visibility is key.

  • Love 6

Kelli was really mean to Colby to the point that it made look Kelli look worse and Colby look better.   She took a lot of that critisism w/ grace and poise and really kept her composure  in spite of their meanness - she just really carried herself so well (especially compared to all those girls who bawl their eyes out over the tiniest criticism).  Like when Kelli called her in to specifically tell her she only made it in cause of the fan vote and wasn't picked by the judges - and all that stuff about the cheek fillers.   I mean all of us were thinking that same stuff, but the way Kelli said it and how well Colby handled it made Kelli seem so nasty.   They have actually taken others who look as old, or older, than Colby.

Longtime lurker and usually just read without posting. But since Shelly is now actively responding, just wanted to weigh in and say that I'm one of the fans who has watched from the beginning as well.  Had to say that I love the Melissa Rycroft segments. Just wanted to make sure CMT knows that it's not a universal thing that everyone on this fan board wants to get rid of her. :)

Also love seeing all alumni and would love to see more of them!  Plus more on the All-Stars...

I too never understood why Kelli was so vicious to Colby either.  I said it before but I can't understand the cheek filler question.  Even if Colby did (and I don't think she does) what does that have to do with DCC???
