Joe mentioned recently that he has a big problem with one of his children. Since Andrew just married, I wonder if there are problems with Jack that we don't know about.

I for one AM shocked that Mika divorced. I still am not sure it was FOR Joe, but they're certainly going to play media games with it now. I guess you never know about a marriage, but I liked thinking that Mika did her job with the blowhard, and was able to go home to a calm man that she had more in common with. Didn't they used to be big runners together? I guess we'll get a book soon about waiting to divorce until after the children are gone, and falling in love with your opposite or something. It is funny that her whole wardrobe changed.  Where are all the summer sundresses that she used to wear until December?

Geez, now they do look joined at the hip. Even had to sit on the stairs next to each other today. What next - she joins his band? Joe seems to have made her his Linda next to his bad Paul McCartney imitation.

I don't see how Mika would dare write another book about anything. She has no credibility in giving any career advice.

Joe should also be embarrassed about his behavior. Can you imagine how his 2 youngest kids feel about Step Mom Mika?

Hopefully, Joe gets kicked out of his Connecticut house by his ex wife , Susan. Mika & Joe can get a condo in NYC.

It just boggles my mind that Joe jokes about people from Nyack, but has a place in Nantucket. The hypocrisy is killing me.

Bill meeting with Loretta Lynch is BAD, very BAD, but the multitude of lawsuits, get rich quick scams, outsourcing of clothing fabrication, etc of THE Donald is old news and just runs off him. The panel never brings it up. Gah!

Joe is excited to join the elite. Mika probably helped him getting into cocktail parties when Morning Joe started. I bet Mika will force Joe to stop watching soccer. The soccer guy from the UK used to be on the show on a regular basis, but I haven't seen him in a while. I can't wait to see Mika & Joe attending Alabama football games together. /sarc

Joe just never looked like he was that into her. If those gazes were uncomfortable before they're downright embarrassing now. You shouldn't have to holler, Get a room! at the teevee. And mean it.

Just heard bits and pieces of this morning's show but caught Mika's indictment of the Clinton and Lynch meetup. Something along the lines of, Even if they aren't talking about it they're talking about it.

Was she trying to say Bill was intimidating Lynch? Better that he not ever talk to anyone anywhere? Made my head hurt.

I have been watching the show since 2008. The promotional photos have always been set up to portray Mika "looking up" to Joe. The infamous Vanity Fair photo, with Mika's legs up in the air & Joe looking away epitomizes that.

I think Joe likes to be part of the NY & Washington DC cocktail party circuit. Mika is more comfortable attending those parties.

It's completely unethical for Lynch to meet with Clinton. Lynch has the final say over the FBI investigation into Hillary's emails.

I've always thought Joe was the one who looked up to Mika. She's the one with the smart famous father, the elite private school education, and the pedigree he seems to aspire to.

I've never seen anyone want to be a north east elite so bad. He works in NYC and could live anywhere but he chooses CT. Nothing wrong with CT- but people (especially people from other parts of the country) tend to be CT on a weird elite pedestal. It's cache for Joe. He's the one in the prep uniform - he tries way too hard. I bet he will send his younger kids to Dartmouth - he low key wishes he went.

I find him quite amusing. For a proud boy from the south he certainly covets the Nantucket, DC/NYC/elite background.

One of Joe's boys from his first marriage has Asperberger's He just got married. Joe's son, Jack  born in May 2008 was premature. It was a big issue at the time & Joe missed several  shows during that period. He did discuss the health problems with premature babies.

I'm fully aware that one of his older boys that just got married has Aspbergers, there was a time when he was all in with RFK Jr and anti-vax bullshit.  Joe didn't miss several shows, he missed months of them and when he didn't he was remote.  This was early on for Morning Joe and most TWoPers actually had a lot of sympathy, worry and empathy about the situation - so unlike us.

There is a truly dreadful new MSNBC promo running that I just saw for the first time. Joe is jumping around with a red, white, and blue electric guitar wearing a frumpy sweater and Mika is standing next to him looking disgusted.

It's awful for a million different reasons, but mostly because it feeds into Joe's absurd image of himself as some sort of rock and roll renegade.

Oh for fuck sake. Hillary is NOT under investigation. She is NOT going to be indicted. She is NOT going to be criminally charged. Obama is NOT going to have to pardon her. There are NOT going to be charges pressed. Lynch is NOT the prosecutor. Hillary does NOT need protection from Lynch or anyone else.

It's incredible how the Republicans and their nutty right wing conspiracies can rule the airwaves and make internet blogs go crazy. Does Joe ever mention that Darth Vader Cheney was duck hunting with Supreme Court Justice Antony Scalea the weekend he died? Or does Joe ever talk about General Petraeus showing his mistress top secret briefings? But Bill Clinton having a casual chat with an old friend is somehow a big scandal because a couple of emails Hillary received were reclassified years later???? Give me a fucking break.

Tell us how you really feel!. Why has Morning Joe even discussed the issue about possible FBI indictments?

I have not seen this promo. It sounds like Joe is having a mid life crisis. Does anyone remember the Morning Joe promo from a few years ago with Mika waking up in bed with Donny, Barnicle on a park bench & Joe getting drunk gambling with the soccer guy?

Just saw an abridged version.

Did they really have the balls to use a Jimi riff as the music? And we're supposed to believe that Joe is playing it?

That promo is awful on so many levels.

Seeing them together now is kind of squicky.

"The soccer guy" is Roger Bennett.  A very funny documentarian and journalist who co-hosts an amazing TV show/column/blog about soccer, called "Men in Blazers."  He's not been on MJ for a while as he's got a lot going on of his own.

IIRC Joe's a Liverpool football fan, Liverpool being owned by the same group that owns the Red Sox - this feeds into Joe's preppy Kennedyesque Nantucket aspirations. Plus the Red Sox owners are tight with Barnicle and other friend of the show Jack Welch. Joe is a low-rent Gatsby type.

I think MSNBC is milking this 'romance' for ratings purposes, hoping that anyone who's read the rumors and sees this promo will now tune into the show for more juicy tidbits and innuendo.  Clever on their part but disgusting for the principals involved.  If Joe and Mika really are involved (*gag*) it's vulgar for them to hype it; if they're not, it's even more so to pretend they are.  All their children must be so proud.

I'm someone who always suspected there may be something going on between Joe and Mika, but I was still shocked to find out that it is probably true.

I came across this from 2013:

http://blindgossip.com/?p=57496

It was a blind item, but nailed all the details perfectly (he lived in CT, she lived in Westchester, etc). If this is to be believed, they have been having an affair "for years", and sharing a Manhattan apartment since 2013.

Sad situation all around, especially for the kids.

Didn't Barnicle get Mika & Joe tickets to the Red Sox World Series games a few years ago? I remember they had a few shows at Fenway Park during the World Series. I wonder what Joe's former constituents in Pensacola think of him now?

Tuesday recap. Mika is hosting solo today. Joe is off. Mika spent 20 minutes discussing the email investigation with Capeheart,Cackles & Halperin. Mika said it's very inappropriate for Bill to meet with the AG. The panel isn't as upset about what happened as Mika. Next topic was the Isis attacks in Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh,Turkey, & Iraq. David Ignatious said Isis' attacks are spreading. Mika said they aren't a JV team anymore.

Mika commented that there was "a lot" of news over the weekend. What!  It seemed like the same few topics were talked about ALL weekend, and are now being repeated on MJ.  I changed the channel earlier and returned to find the same topic under discussion. The TV is now off.  I wonder if the same topics will carry over into the evening. UGH!

I tuned in to see Mika hosting alone. So the network thinks this vain vapid wannabe can handle  a 3 hour morning show alone. Then as she threw to commercial with a teaser regarding a story about Twinkies the headline under her said " The Rise of the Twinkie".

I thought that's about right.

She is so insufferable when she hosts alone. She was haranguing poor Jonathan Capeheart over his interview with Loretta Lynch as if she could unearth some "gotcha!" admission from him that the "meeting" (and I use the term loosely) between Lynch and Clinton was inappropriate.

Personally, I don't think it was that big a deal (hello....he IS a former president and she's not personally running the investigation and they didn't even discuss the topic, but, whatever) - but everyone involved has already stated that it shouldn't have happened. Yet Mika kept harping on it, "What is 'it'?! What is the 'it' that shouldn't have happened??!" Honestly, I couldn't even follow what she was talking about, but she was clearly pretending to be some hard-hitting journalist.

Also, count me as fed up with her oft-stated opinion that the candidates should be giving reporters and interviewers unlimited access and spend as much time as the media wants "answering questions," versus, you know, running a well-scheduled campaign that pays attention to time limits. She's been so spoiled by Trump calling into the show and babbling irrationally for half an hour at a time that she apparently believes that should be the norm.

It was really telling that Mika, at one point, told the group of collected heads "I don't get it" (about the email). Dead silence for about two seconds. Halperin finally explained that it was about classified information being sent (<cough>BS<cough>) and that if she did it, she should be indicted.

Which bozo said that Bill Clinton was caught doing the worst thing EVER in the WH? Really? The worst? sigh.

Other than the "babbling irrationally" part, I'm not sure Mika's too off the reservation on this one. It would be great if elected officials and candidates did a half-hour every few weeks or so on a show like this. I'd prefer availability to the press over getting to campaign events on time, given the choice.

Lol, that's why I said "*like* this one." But seriously, if they had Katty Kay or Eugene Robinson or a real journalist on, it could be okay. It's slightly more wonkier than the Today show or GMA.

Today is a classic Morning Joe episode. Mika is wearing a blue housecoat. Joe is back. Mika & Joe are furious with Comey for not indicting Hillary. They showed split screen of Hillary's comments on the emails & Comey contradicting her statements. Joe is upset that the Clintons promised that the AG could keep her job after the election. Joe said Hillary should be convicted. Ratner asked Joe to be nice to him because it was his birthday. Ratner didn't have much to say about defending Hillary's actions. Joe was furious that Obama seems to have been involved in the investigation based on his interview with Fox. Heileman said the good news was that Hillary was not indicted.

Lately, with so much repetition, it feels like news commentators have turned into gossips. They remind me about my extended family who hash and rehash every event and it never ends!  Maybe it is because of the faces Mika makes and the OTT fake drama. MJ has turned into a reality show.

The few times I've watched reality shows, someone often says, "This is a disaster."    It always makes me laugh.  Has that been said yet on MJ.

Well who couldn't have predicted what this morning's show would be like.

It's a really bad sign when you could have predicted almost verbatim each and every guest and the hosts' words and tone.

The temerity to bring Albert "I can't recall" Gonzales in for an interview on this is beyond disgusting.

Zero balance, or where they pretended to have balance, they screamed over it.

Kudos to the uncredited MSNBC producer who prepared the opening video montage contrasting Comey's findings to Clinton's press conference at the UN. It rendered Joe's bloviating unnecessary.

Giuiliani has rendered himself such a tragedy-whore hack that I assume he has nothing truly insightful to say and just drown him out.

Greenfield's comparison of this election to the Robb/North Senate race in the 1990s is brilliant.

Mika said that the news was "depressing", and she actually looked depressed.

Where ever you stand on the email issue, I hardly think the FBI's decision is a national tragedy. I understand that they (Joe and Mika in particular), kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, especially after nothing came out of the Benghazi hearing, but did they really expect for her to be indicted? And if their speculations were wrong, is it really appropriate to be depressed about it?

Also, they can't have it both ways. Either they trust Comey or they don't, but they can't cry that an injustice has been done without implicating him, too.

I eventually switched to CNN - which is dry as toast in the morning - but at least they report the news without the histrionics of these two.

I agree with the assessment of John Heilemann, now their show is a "must see" for me.

Last night, MSNBC, CNN and FOX all ran Trump's speech. I was incensed and turned off the TV after it became clear they weren't going back to the normal programming. So I actually heard part of it. With his mocking voice and the words he used, he sounded like a teenager. It was a terrible speech. Apparently MJ heard a different speech. They didn't seem to think it was too bad. Mika seemed to like it. If I talked like Trump at work, I would be laughed out of the office.

They are relieved (except for Jim VandeHei and Harold Ford, who are disgusted) that their man got his mojo back, will rise in the polls, win debates and go merrily  on to become POTUS.

Very true. Joe warned Ratner about showing up to defend Hillary. He should have just stayed home. The Rand Paul spokesperson reminds me of Jan Brady.  I expected her to shout "Hilarry,Hillary,Hillary".

Thursday recap.

Mikais wearing a red Lacoste shirt. Joe is wearing a sweater. They should turn down the AC in the studio. Harold Ford Jr,Michael Steele. Vanderhei & a hungry Halperin were on the set. Joe said Trump is reenergized with his speech. Mika loved Trump's speech. Trump killed a mosquito. Joe tried to goad Harold Ford Jr into admitting that Hillary & her staff should not be given security briefings. Harold disagreed. He said that  Hillary should still get security briefings despite her reckless behavior. Paul Ryan doesn't want Hillary to get security briefings until the election.

Joe said none of Hillary's staff should get security clearances if she gets elected. That would make it tough for her to do her job.

Mika called Vanderhei a hostage of the Clintons.

Joe made fun of Disney for using the same Star of David for the movie Frozen. Joe wanted to know if the media would accuse Disney of anti semitic images.

Halperin was eating his breakfast & the camera kept focusing on him. He ended up talking with his mouth ffull of food. Mika said the camera people should be nicer to Halperin.

Halperin said Hillary will have to discuss the email issue before the election. She may be forced to give a press conference before the election.

Lawrence O Donnel talked about John Deutsh who was an official in the Clinton administration who did some similar things with classified info as Hillary. He pleaded guilty to the a misdemeanor but luckily, Bill Clinton pardoned him on inauguration day. Odonnel, said the FBI could have used that case as a model for Hillary.

Joe & Mika made fun of their audience for being confused as to whether they are Pro or Anti Trump. Joe said he calls out Trump when he lied & he will do the same for Hillary.
