This hearkens back to comments specifically from Kemper (IIRC) and generally from all of us: There is something wrong with her. She is just socially awkward and impulsive in a childish way. All the KYV lectures can't make up for the fact that she is shallow and doesn't know how to behave in an adult, let alone professional manner.

I agree. The problem was they had to move from one part of the bar to the other without a commercial break to get everyone set up. Mika also had an awkward interaction with  Mayor Pete. She asked  about whether his dog was a rescue as  he was trying to shake hands with the other panelists. The timing was off.

Mika was very deferential to Dr Jill Biden. I think she will join Mika's KYV talk show circuit.

No she won't she's way too smart and classy.  She probably ran out of there like her hair was on fire with Meeks chasing after her waving a can of whip cream around.

I am still digesting that whipping cream/cookies story . . . it's almost as if she wanted to create a distraction when Joe was having his moment alone on camera doing grown up work.

I totally agree with this.   She really does not know how to interact with other adults in any kind of mature, professional manner.   And the last straw for me this morning was that, as she was dishing out those whipped cream laden cookies, she was perched on top of the bar like one of the floozies in Miss Kitty's saloon.   I could not believe my eyes.   Can you picture any of the other professional women on MSNBC doing that?

Mika's daughter likes Mayor Pete!.

Just because she got where she is by being someone’s daughter doesn’t mean the rest of us give AF about her own daughter’s political ideas....

The top story is the Iowa caucus debacle.  Willie said it is a disaster for the state.  It could be the last Iowa caucus, according to pundits. Willie said that Republicans will argue that the process was rigged.

Jonathan Lemire looks tired and pissed.  Can't blame him since he went to Iowa for nothing.

Robert Costa said that the Iowa Dems said they will announce a result.

I wish they would have an election result on to tell us how this Iowa non-result happened.  I understand something about an app, but why would they leave a caucus up to a phone app?

Vaughn Hilyard said the precinct directors are all baffled.  People worked on this caucus for a year and gave up everything to work on campaigns. The Biden campaign demanded to review the results.

It was tough to watch that nonsense last night and Iowa deserves all the grief they are getting right now.  As someone that used to do this for a living, the failure of that app is beyond epic.  Strike three for Iowa.

The other top story is Joe apparently borrowed Deutsch's You Dirty Rat suit . . .

Anything that blows up the ridiculous, anachronistic, non-representative Iowa caucus system and buries it once and for all is fine by me. Joe can rant all he wants. I think this debacle has a bright side.

Joe said the clip of Trump fooling around during the national anthem will be a big story. It's wrong for the President not to respect the playing of the National Anthem. I couldn't figure out why Melania put her left hand on her heart. Isn't it supposed to be the right hand ?

The show is much easier to watch when they are all in a studio together.

Yes, it's the right hand and I noticed that Barron had his left hand over his heart as well.  Melania looked like she had just arrived from another country and didn't know what to do.

According to the Miami Herald, it's because the image was from a selfie and therefore reversed.

Quote

(The video appears flipped, or mirrored, likely because it is an Instagram video recorded with a phone’s selfie camera. That is why Melania Trump appears to have her left hand across her chest and there is a backward numeral 4 in the video. The Herald chose to retain the original orientation as it was posted on the social media site.)

I just read that lack of WiFi was a lot of the problem in some rural areas, and then everyone trying to call in at the same time and jamming the phone lines at the central location for the Party.

Oh good grief, this should have been vetted out months/years before this epic failure if the overall project had been run correctly.  It wasn't like the lack of Wi-Fi just cropped up . . . ugh.

This is on Iowa Democrats.  Full stop.

Joe said that the president's State of the Union speech was full of lies.

Willie said the country did not need Nancy Pelosi ripping up the speech even though some view it as a "sick burn."

Mika said Democrats jeered the president.  Mika thought the president showed discipline by not mentioning  impeachment. Joe was surprised by the president's discipline in not meandering off topic.

Joe is mad that the media don't fact check Trump's statements about the economy.  Joe went through a bunch of charts to prove his point.

Jon Meacham said the speech showed  " reflexive partisanship."  Love him.

Mike Barnicle thinks the state of the union is "mutual contempt."  That's probably the most accurate thing Barnicle has said in months.

I was impressed that Meacham remembered that Limbaugh  was a strong supporter of Buchanan against Bush in 1992.

Joe loves fact checking!. It would be fun if Morning Joe was fact checked on a regular basis.

Joe's new talking point is that Carter's economy was better than Trump's. Joe is forgetting about the very high unemployment  rate , inflation rate & interest rates during that period.

There were also shortages of gasoline.

Mika giggled when Joe compared Trump to Carter.

Joe will get more whipped cream tonight!

Joe's chart forgot to add the GDP growth rate during the Obama administration which was lower than Trump's because of the devastating recession that occurred when he took over from Bush Jr.

Maybe they could start fact checking themselves for starters . . .

Oakville my friend, it never ceases to amaze me that you know more about USA's history than most folks that lived here their entire life and I thank you for that and all the facts you share on your posts as I remember the Carter years and you are spot on.

One of the distinct differences between the Carter and our current administration is yes there are plenty of jobs if you don't mind working two or three of them to keep your head above water.

Ok, I slept through the initial show opening but just caught the replay now and may I say nobody lands a punch quite like Nancy Pelosi . . . hee!

  • Love 6

UGH, now that I am watching the first hour replay I want to punch Willie in the face.  This isn't what the nation needs right now . . . what do you suggest Willie, Pelosi should roll over and show her belly as a sign of submission?  She understands fighting fire with fire something more Democrats should learn from.  Enjoy your comfy seat at the table, the rest of us are busy.

And what a great image, Rush Limbaugh getting his Medal of Freedom award with his cochlear implant on full display as a result from his illegal drug abuse . . . classic.

Bloomberg's ad theme of All-In is genius as so many are not enjoy the fruits of the current economy.  Google employs over 100K people but less than half of them actually work for Google and get Google benefits including their 401K stock options as they are contractors.  Anybody that has worked under those conditions would be more than interested in what Bloomberg has to say.

But it doesn't mean the results are flawed, just the method of reporting them.  I work in an office building and our WiFi has gone out, at least twice in the last couple months our version of Windows wouldn't open Google Chrome.  We have an optometrist in the garden office building across our parking lot and they are constantly asking us if we can fix their internet, they don't even know to call their IT company. You'd be surprised how many people do not understand how technology works even to this day.  I work with a couple of them.

Shit happens. Unfortunately when it happens to the rest of us, the whole country is watching ready to pounce on anything they don't like.

I heard several precinct captains report they had no problem whatsoever using the app.

The media making it sound like we can't trust the results, (cough Heileman, Mika, Joe, et al) when there are paper back ups that were also submitted, makes the situation sound worse than it was.

But then they always want the results of an election five minutes after the polls close. Other countries don't get results reported like that.

In 2012 the GOP Iowa caucus didn't have final results until eight days after New Hampshire.  And the margin was eight votes.

Agreed, I have no issues with the eventual results as I think the paper trails are solid but you cannot blab about how great this new app is going to be and then run when clearly there were issues.  The communication plan for their rollout/implementation was severely lacking and made a bad situation much worse.

Agree and that's just the people at the top who want to talk about how brilliant they are, when I bet dollars to donuts people on the ground were like, "wait this isn't going to work because xyz, or is the company we bought this from going to train us?"   "No they said it was super easy". Forgetting not everyone is a 10 year old tech savvy kid, a lot of these people are older and not that proficient in technology.

Joe wants to use Michigan & Florida as the two first states for the primaries.

I doubt that would happen.

Ahem, the great state of Illinois has already weighed in and we want a piece of being first y'all (actually this is not a bad idea as IL is only considered blue because of the voting power of Chicago.  The rest of the state is purple or pretty much bright red.
