Joe is mad at the president's attorneys and the Republicans in the Senate.  Joe compared the impeachment trial to a murder case where no one wants to hear from the eyewitness.

Willie noted that Lamar Alexander is a confirmed no vote on witnesses.  Willie said John Bolton could give tell the story but won't be called.

Joe thinks his friends on TV and radio are stupid for saying that the House didn't do their jobs.  Joe said Americans are being insulted. Everyone is stupid except Joe, who knows everything and has infinite legal knowledge.

Joe said that the Republican party used to be better.  He said that they balanced the budget when he was in Congress.  Joe loves to live in the past.

If I remember correctly (I am old) ...I think Bill Clinton had something to do with balancing the budget.  Joe did not do it by himself.  Also, if I am remembering correctly, that was Clinton's budget and Joe and his cohorts were upset that Clinton had "stolen" some of their ideas.  So.  I wish Joe would stop talking about his time in Congress.  Maybe I should start mentioning that I was Prom Queen and cheerleader "back when I was in high school" ... which is not true.  But I remember it differently; Joe and I have something in common.

Kornacki said that Biden is leading among African Americans 52-28. Sanders is doing better with African Americans than in 2016.

Joe has said on previous shows that he convinced Clinton that balancing the budget was important.

Joe said he was one of the most popular rookie GOP congressmen in the 1990s.

Brokaw said the Iowa caucuses have changed since 1976. Brokaw said there are many more people campaigning now than in 1976.

Brokaw said that the Gop Senators were more willing to impeaching Nixon than they are now with Trump.

Ah a Tom Brokaw appearance . . . exactly what today needed . . . did he bring his date Peggy Noonan?

Mika called Alexander pathetic.

Good call, who'd know better than her?

The national poll shows Bernie Sanders leading Biden 27-26. Warren has 15% & Bloomberg has 9%.

National polls are absolutely useless in a country that employs the Electoral College.  And the primary system is pretty much the same, because it's state by state instead of a national vote.

Even state polls don't mean a thing if because of the small sample size.  Not to mention, land lines vs. cell phones, and other factors.  The other thing that really gets me is when all of the pundits say "xx% of all Americans" and I'm yelling at my tv "No!  It's not all Americans, it's just your sample!"

Rant over.

Joe would be lost without the ability to quote polls. Joe loves polls. Luckily, the polls usually agree with Joe's latest talking point.

Joe and Mika are on the road.  The show is live from a restaurant in Des Moines.  There are a lot of people there.

The restaurant is special to Joe and Mika because they were there in 2008. Is this where the magic started?  Willie, John Heilman, and Adrian Elrod are there at the restaurant.  Somehow, I imagine a bunch of DC types out in Des Moines trying to find folksy places for a broadcast.

Joe is happy that the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

Mika called Trump an idiot.

An Emerson College poll shows Bernie Sanders in the lead and Biden in second in Iowa. John Heileman thinks Bernie will win.  Doctor Jill Biden is coming later, and I'm sure she's gonna have something to say about that.

Mika & Joe have been going to Java Joe's since 2008. Tim Russert showed up as a guest there to give the show some credibility.  Chuck Todd was the numbers guy back then. He was doing what Kornacki does now. They were there for a few days back then.

I am not saying whether I agree with this statement or not but you cannot call this a news show when the head talking heads say things like this so blatantly.

I like Kasie's boots.  That's it for me today, back to Dr. Phil reruns.

Mika called Trump a stone called idiot. She is wearing a royal blue scarf now.

Joe is desperate for Bloomberg to increase his advertising on Morning Joe.

Joe said the Democratic establishment is freaking out over Biden's poor crowds.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am sick to death of watching these talking heads talk about Iowa.  And the polls.  And the stupid diner where Real Americans eat.  For once I wish they had talked about the Super Bowl...or maybe the Hannity/Trump interview yesterday.  Maybe they did and I missed it.  And then Tom Brokaw! Chris Matthews!  I couldn't stick with it - but I bet they talked about polls.  Because they were in a diner in Iowa.

I tuned to CNN.  They were taking about China's economy imploding this morning.  They talked about our economy and the reaction to the Coronavirus.  Sorry if I spelled that incorrectly.  Ezra Klein was on - he has a book out.  He used to be an MSNBC regular.

The show stayed live at 8am with an all star panel of Senator Claire McKaskill, Chris Matthews & Tom Brokaw.

It was Brokaw's birthday yesterday. Mika & Joe had dinner with him. Brokaw wants more discussion of foreign policy.

Matthews is not happy with the current list of candidates. He said Sanders will not be President.

Matthews compared Sanders to McGovern. Matthews liked Muskie.

Claire does not like the caucus system. She said not everyone can attend a caucus.

Did Claire McCaskill say anything about Trump's Kansas boo-boo? On Twitter last night, she replied (to Trump): "It's Missouri, you stone cold idiot."

Hmmm . . . is that where Mika came up with the phrase?

Brokaw interviewed a convenience store owner who supported Trump. He said many people will vote for Trump but keep quiet when talking to pollsters.

Matthews said that Sanders won't get 60 votes in the Senate for Medicare for all.

I agree, and I heard on NPR yesterday that the DNC had been trying to work with the state Party to get them to change to make it more accessible, and to stop letting people who get less that 15% go to another candidate.

We all know the old line: "It takes one to..."

It's statements like that that add to the litany of reasons why I hate her. Stay Klassy, you journalist you.

Is Mika pissed that Trump spilled the beans about the pre divorce love nest?  No one cares Mika. We know you and Joe have no morals and don't care about anyone but yourselves.

No, she kept putting whipped cream on all the cookies and started handing them out to the journalists that Joe was trying to interview. They were confused. She kept one cookie for herself . She waited till the camera turned away & picked up the whipped cream filled cookie and started eating it.

This hearkens back to comments specifically from Kemper (IIRC) and generally from all of us: There is something wrong with her. She is just socially awkward and impulsive in a childish way. All the KYV lectures can't make up for the fact that she is shallow and doesn't know how to behave in an adult, let alone professional manner.

So much for overcoming the sugar addiction.

Who puts whipped cream on cookies??!!  That sounds disgusting and messy AF.  I don't even like these gourmet cupcake deals there is more icing and nonsense than cake.  We should all chip in and send her a cake. Come up with something totally awesome for a message.
