Nicolle's show is usually very good.  I watch her over Jake Tapper (CNN) most of the time.

Elise Jordan is my favorite (not in line with her politically) but she's smart and straight forward.  BTW Rachel had her on last night to discuss a movie coming out on Netflex (or Hulu?) tomorrow based on a book written by her late husband, Micheal Hastings.  He was a friend of Rachel's.

Seriously, some of these people need to get a grip.  Joe wondering if the GOP leadership will call out the MT bully or allow him to serve if he's elected.  No and yes.  That's you answer.

It does appear that the insanity in the White House & Congress is causing conservatives to speak out and moderate their views.

I think that so much is happening, it's an "all hands on deck" situation there.  Chris Matthews was on the other day too, so they regularly poach evening talent.

It was reported briefly last night that The Guardian had been investigating Gianforte's investments in Russian oil, and how after when he was warned, or there was a dip, or something... he doubled his investments instead of divesting himself of those potentially poisonous, potentially compromising assets.  I dunno if it's accurate, but it would explain the nature of his quick anger at The Guardian.  And if it's true, he's about to be roasted alive, and used as a club to hit Trump.

I haven't heard anyone other than rando GOP Congressmen say that it was Ben Jacobs' fault for, I guess, being a reporter. 

I liked Joe calling out Trump for harassing Katy Tur, and of course he brought up Trump badmouthing Mika, which was uncalled for, but not as bad as pointing out Katy at rallies to that mob of goons, to the point that security had to escort her out.

One of the reasons I was attracted to the show back in the day was that it was one of the few shows to feature authors. That happens less and less now that it's more of an inside-baseball circle jerk but when it does they usually stick the author at 8:55 - just like today.  I wish they would stop doing that. I'm a bit skeptical about linking Churchill and Orwell together (the premise of the book) but if the author had had more than 90 seconds to make his case, I would have liked to have heard it. Plus someone - I think Joe - admitted at the end that he hadn't read the book. Good grief, you only work 3 hours a day.

I think I heard Joe say something at the 6am hour about "I'm a Republican....for now." While I think if he switched to unenrolled or independent, it would matter not a whit as to inspiring other GOP to do so, but it still would be an interesting gesture.

First thing I thought when I saw Cackles. MSNBC must want her on the promote her show. So Mika gets the day off. Where did they say she was?  Or Mika had the day off scheduled and that's when Cackle would come on. Mighty big coincidence if it wasn't arranged.

I think Cackles was on the show a few weeks ago to promote her new show, when Mika was on as well. And Mika sent out a warm congratulatory tweet to her when the show was announced. Women can disagree but also get along.

LOL at Joe about Mika being insulted by Trump. Trump called them clowns & exposed their relationship. Katy was nearly physically assaulted .Yet, Joe was so insulted he bothered to bring Mika down to Florida to meet with Trump on New Year's Eve. They even had lunch together after the inauguration. Mika went to Trump Tower to interview Ivanka in November

I love the author interviews. I just bought Richard Haas's book. I have Mika's books. I might buy Joe's books. They sell for a few dollars on Amazon

Bianna is quite attractive. She was very happy that she was mentioned in the book about Hillary Clinton Shattered campaign. Hillary wanted her to interview her instead of Brianna Keilar from CNN. Bianna was seen by the campaigns much likelier to ask soft questions than Brianna. Bianna was also  able to get Peter Orszag ,Obama's budget director to leave his pregnant girlfriend for her.

Friday recap. Joe is back in the studio in a navy blue sweater. Mika is off. Joe tashed Trump for his handshakes with Macron, pushing the Montenegro PM around & demanding that NATO allies contribute 2% of their GDP towards defence.

Joe called Trump the Ugly American.

Joe's new thing is to pretend that he is John Stewart from the Daily Show. He plays a clip of Trump & then laughs at him.

They made a new fake ad of the GOP cutting medicaid & cutting taxes for the wealthy.

Joe was mad that Gianforte won in Montana despite the assault charge.

Joe showed random pictures of Trump not smiling with Merkel but smiling with the Russians & Saudis.

Joe think that his audience is so dumb that they can't find other pictures of him smiling with Merkel or being stone faced with teh Russians.

Joe is upset that the budget cuts his pet projects of cancer research & Alzheimer research.

Joe talks vaguely about entitlement reform for medicare & medicaid & social security.

Joe doesn't realize that cutting these programs would hurt people.

Joe is mad that Trump brags about his election victory. Joe doesn't realize that he brags about his congressional victory in 1994 which was a wave election, against a Democratic congressman that stepped down.

Joe was right about Jared being the person of interest in the FBI. He hasn't been arrested yet.

Joe wants the audience to forget him touting Jared as a genius.

Joe bragged about BMW & Mercedes car plants in the South. This will solve the trade deficit according to Joe.

Joe must have passed out when Robert Costa said that Bannon & Miller are drafting Trump's speeches on NATO.

Gianforte's supporters were happy that he assaulted the reporter.

I know!!  Yesterday when I heard an author coming on again,  I looked up and damn, it was 8:55! It's like MJ wants to look all NYC and literary, but is only willing to give 3-5 minutes to it.  Like they have to have a full 2 hours and 55 minutes left to (deservedly) Trump-bash 5 days a week.

Joe decided to continue his vendetta against Sean Lumpy Hannity for discussing the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich.  I was surprised that Joe mentioned that the far left routinely attacks him for his role in the suspicious death of his assistant Lori Klaustitus. Joe said Lori's family was upset that her death was publicized as a potential murder.

That's why Mika begged Roger Ailes not to disclose their affair in 2013. She should have come on the air to disclose her love for Joe back then !. Mika made a big deal about Bill Clinton's infidelity & rape accusations last year. She should realize that given her own infidelity, she shouldn't throw stones at Bill Clinton.  It's also ridiculous for Mika & Joe to wear their wedding rings for years until their divorces are made public.

Hannity replies to Joe's attack on him from Mediaite.

Scarborough called Hannity’s coverage “gross and repulsive” before going on to deride the Fox News personality as having “no shame.”

We reached out to Mr. Hannity, who is currently enjoying an early Memorial Day vacation, for comment on Scarborough’s critique. Hannity did not demure.

Of course they are.  They don't care to know the answers to the questions the reporter was posing about the health care bill, and how this millionaire businessman was planning to represent their health care interests or not.   Losing their health care is far less important to them than their House representative being a bully thug who assaults people.  Let's see how well that works out for them when he votes to take their health care away, and to give away their public lands, and to slash the programs they rely on, like SSDI.  I'm sure they'll still feel happy then that he beat up a reporter.

 During Joe's rant about why do these guys keep lying about their proposals - in this case the medicare cuts - someone on the panel tried to say something but Joe just kept going on.  I would have liked to here someone else's take.  But when Joe finished they went to commercial and no one else had a chance to speak.  But Joe I'll tell you why they keep lying - because it gets them elected.  So they can get away with it and will continue to get away with it until, possibly, their plans actually go into effect which might just now happen since they control the White House and Congress.

Oh and of course during his rant Joe had to bring up Bill Clinton.

I turned the show off when the ad came up that next guest would be Rumsfeld.  Talk about liars! Why ever would we want to hear from the architect of the Iraq war?

I agree and I'm getting frickin' tired of it.  "Bill Clinton lied and lied all the time," was what he said this morning.  He really was OTR about Hannity though, wasn't he? I really really liked and respected Zbig.  He was great on the show, and he made me confident and relaxed about the brains and professionalism that professional, career politicos and wonks bring to our security and prosperity.  There's a vibrating current of hate towards people like Zbig these days, but I respect and appreciate his work and expertise.

I had noticed that for the last couple of weeks, Mika had been doing most of the shows from Washington DC, some with Joe, and some with her on remote. Then the last couple of days she was off. I guess this explains why. RIP Dr. Z.

Joe has been doing his rant against the GOP since 2008. Joe was furious about Bush spending too much money on social security & medicare. He demanded entitlement reform in the form of reducing benefits or increasing the age. Joe was furious that he was not acclaimed as a GOP Senate candidate in the 2010 Senate Race. Joe would have to run against Rubio or Charlie Crist. Joe has been very jealous of Marco since 2010.Joe is even more outraged that Trump didn't drop out of the Presidential race last October.

Zbig had an amazing professional life. I was always interested in his analysis since I went to the same university as he did in Montreal. Zbig was the architect of arming the mujahaddin in Afghanistan to defeat the Soviets. It's a strategy that worked at the time but ha had repurcussions to the world since then.

Tuesday Recap. Everyone is in Washington. Heilemann is joining MSNBC as a National Affairs Analyst. Mika is wearing black. She thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers for her dad.

Joe said Dr Z hit Joe with a towel when he was in the hospital & kissing Mrs Z.

Joe went on a rant against Trump for being a thug and mauling Little Macron. Joe said Trump should be more like Kennedy. Joe said the US needs the European alliance .

Joe is mad that Merkel doesn't like Trump.

Joe forgot his talking points about Europe contributing 2% of their GDP for defense. This week, its about the benefits that the USA gets for helping Europe. It's great that USA troops ( not joe's kids) have to be on the front lines of Europe in case of a war. The money spent by the USA on defending Europe helps the European enjoy a higher livig standard than the USA.

 

I am enjoying the DR Z tribute. I wonder if they will discuss Dr Z funding of Bin Laden & other mujahaddin groups in Afhanistan.

The theme is that Dr Z was tough on the Soviets because they made a mess in Poland and Eastern Europe.

I do prefer Mika's old look. The resemblance between Dr Z & Joe is interesting.
