MSNBC: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Vaulted)

Recommended Posts

Apprentice79 AJ Delgado is reportedly pregnant by former Trump adviser Jason Miller, who is already married with children. As a result, he announced in December that he wouldn't be taking a communications job with the WH. I haven't seen either one of them on MSNBC since.

I tweeted a complaint about one of her more obnoxious appearances on All In and she retweeted to all of her followers, a raving bunch of lunatics who bothered me on Twitter for a few days.

Unlike Rachel, I'm not rooting for Greta at all.  She brings nothing to MSNBC and seems to be willing to "go moderate" until she gets a chance to amp up some conservative talking point (the MLK bust, for example) then goes overboard with glee at trying to sell it to her audience.

Re: Never Trumpers. Charlie Sykes was a favorite during the election, but he seems to have lost some fire imo. Or maybe I'm just influenced by my shock at seeing his wife--Diane Sykes--was on the Trump/Heritage Fdn short list for Supreme Court. No one ever mentions that on MSNBC but they should.

Schmidt is great and I don't mind Wallace.  In Congress, it's mainly Lindsey Graham, who can be better than a Democrat at time with his critical soundbites. He had several great ones yesterday re: the president's delusions about "3-5 million voters" advising him to either "put out the information he has or recant about this and stop falsely tearing down our democratic process" (paraphrasing).

Disappointing that Warren and Brown are "giving Dr. Carson the benefit of the doubt at HUD" and voting for his nomination. Like Schumer did with Tillerson.

What's wrong with these people? He'll go through anyway, but why not at least be ON THE RECORD as being opposed to him?

I gave Greta a chance for two weeks.  She would occasionally try to sound sightly liberal (how can you be against equal pay for equal work), and sometimes neutral, but a lot of her conservative viewpoints came through.  And I think she has a very combative style and she talks over people, so I am done with her.  She does bring republicans on her show (real republicans, not the surrogates, they usually have on) so if you're really interested in what they have to say, this might be the show to watch.  I never hear anything new from them, just the same old talking points, which Greta doesn't challenge.

I hated Katy Packer when was just a Never Trumper and she is completely worthless now.  She never had anything original to say before (and I didn't understand why Lawrence O'Donnell had her on so much) but now that she has drunk the Trump Kool Aid she is positively giddy over his right wing agenda.  I wish she would go away.

I'm from Wisconsin so I know Charlie Sykes very well.  He's a conservative, Paul Ryan type of republican.  He was great before Trump won as a Never Trumper and he did have a lot of interesting things to say.  I thought he was one of the more interesting people that LOD had on regularly.  But make no mistake, he really is for the Paul Ryan agenda.  I'm sure he does believe that Trump is unqualified to be president (maybe even unhinged) but as long as Ryan can get his stuff through, Charlie Sykes will be ok with it.   And Diane Sykes is a very conservative judge.  I'm not surprised she's on Trump's list for SC.  I wondered if that was why Charlie retired from his very popular conservative radio show in Milwaukee.

I haven't watched Greta's show and don't intend to. However, I liked her when she was on CNN with Roger Cossack.

I don't think MSNBC knows their audience and because, for them, they have morning gold with Joe, they're thinking they can get congressional leaders to tune in later while they're at the gym.

lmao, wow, thanks for spilling the tea. Yet, this is the party, that is always touting family values, while insinuating that liberals are amoral..

Don't let those trolls get to you.. I have heard that these Trump trolls are truly reprehensible.  They had Megyn Kelly running scared.

Charlie said he gave up his show because he got a book deal and he's working on it right now.

I also noticed tonight that he is now based in New York.  The caption under his name (he was on with LOD) seemed to indicate he has a NY radio show now. I guess Lawrence gave him enough national exposure that he has moved up in the world.  He is a very articulate commentator, but I know him to also be very conservative.  He was not a fan of any of the Obama agenda on his WTMJ radio show.  Apparently, he does have a conscience, though, unlike the elected cowards we have in Washington.

I have to give Greta some credit. She pushed Ryan pretty hard on the ACA

I also thought Greta did a better job this week.  And she didn't talk over Paul Ryan like I've seen her do to Democrats sometimes.  I think she does it when a Democrat says something she doesn't agree with and then she jumps in before they're finished.  As I said previously, she does get Republicans (like John McCain and Paul Ryan) to come on her show, which most of the MSNBC hosts have not been able to do.   Her show is kind of a mixed bag so far.

I never watched Brain Williams when he was on NBC but now that he's on MSNBC I do see him regularly - for instance, he just wrapped up their report on the news conference with the British PM & that man - Williams is rather bland for my taste - maybe that's a good thing - to not show your political preference

That man kept calling the PM by her first name but she referred to him as the President - don't think she was so informal using his first name -  I did like the back & forth questions between the American & British journalists

I wonder if she'll end up at CNN. I didn't like her when she first started but grew to after awhile. I hope she finds a place that values her talent. It seemed wasted on MSNBC and NBC. That 9am hour was nothing to write home about especially after Willie went to Sundays. Billy Bush really put a fork in it and finished it off.

I haven't really watched MSNBC since the nite of the election. I still like Rachel and Chris but I just can't with the network as a whole. I want to take one of Lawrence O'Donnell's old West Wing scrips and beat him with it mercilessly.  I don't hate him but his attitude drives me up a wall at times. Still surprised he and Tamron have been a thing for so long.

Who's Katy Parker? Is she the one who had a show with the Former Gov of New York who solicited prostitutes?

Frankly, I am shocked at how quickly MSNBC & NBC have moved over the past year to get rid of every POC. A few years ago, MSNBC had Al Sharpton on a daily basis with his show. Now he barely shows up on Morning Joe unless there is a race related riot .

This is why we have to turn off MSNBC and CNN until they do better. They will only respond when their ratings tank.

Wow....all I can say about Megyn Kelly is "ugh", I saw her Co-host with Kelly Ripa one morning and she was terrible.  She thought she was so "cutesy and hip", and kept giggling, it was annoying.  I like Tamron on MSNBC, but on "Today's Take" she too kept giggling and tried too hard to be "fun and hip"

Why hasn't Sharpton threatened to protest NBC for getting rid of so many POC? Isn't he one of the most powerful AA in cable news? I remember vaguely that he had the power to veto the takeover of NBC by Comcast.

I also noticed that Roland Martin disappeared.

Has MSNBC explained why so many AA have been removed from the network? Is it ratings driven?

It's because Andrew Lack and Phil Griffin are at their core racist assholes who pay lip service to POC's across the board.

Wow!. I never knew that. I think Griffin is very friendly with Joe Scarborough. I was hoping that NBC would provide a rationale for their moves. Perhaps, they could argue that the ratings have fallen too much, or the shows are more profitable with different personalities. It seems very weird that so many AA are being kicked off the network. Couldn't the NAACP intervene?

Can somebody explain to me, why Roland Martin is no longer on CNN? I always thought that he should have gotten Greta's spot.  He is thoughtful, intelligent and he would be an asset for MSNBC. I wish that Megyn Kelly would stay at Fox News.  She needs to stay over there with her colleagues who love to spread their alternative facts to push their agenda.

Important to note that Joy Reid's contract is set to expire soon and she didn't get the spot Greta took. This is deliberate. Also, remember that NBC brass didn't back Al Roker up when he called out Ryan Lochte during the Rio Olympics. Also, never forget how they treated Melissa Harris-Perry.

One more thing. Have you noticed that they don't highlight LGBTQ issues across the shows the way they used to do. That's deliberate too.

Thomas Roberts, the Gay anchor was moved to the weekend. He had a regular spot in the afternoon during the week.

Was Roberts removed from anchoring a show on MSNBC for being outspoken on LGBT issues? He used to be regular panelist on Morning Joe.

What annoys me is the constant digs at the Democrats.  They deserve it at times, but, it annoys me that he does it.  The Democrats need some steel in their spine to take on the Republicans.

If they are, it still makes no sense. It's like new Coke, there's only one original. And I don't think there are any moderate Foxers out there.

I'm so glad to see Thomas Roberts at least hosting on the weekend --I liked him a lot.   I think Rev Al cannot protest because he has already gone from a daily show to only one on the weekends.

"In just a few minutes, President Trump will be talking to the home office - uh - Vladimir Putin."    Oh, Joy, you bad, girl.

I watched Joy but missed that comment.  She is great.

I am back watching MSNBC but not as much as before the election.  I can't stand MJ anymore.  I skip Greta which is causing me to miss most of Hardball.  I tried to catch Chris H and Rachel M this week and saw half their shows.  If Joy's contract is not renewed, I may drop MSNBC completely.

On Joy one of the panelists picked China as the winner for the week. How long before China and Mexico are knocking on each other's door? It is probably happening already.

I ditched the channel after the election. But I just spent some time with a relative who still watches and based on the little I watched, and what I've read here, I made the right decision.

They just ran back to back promos for MJ. I thought that dude was a smug asshole before. But now, with his elevation to the face of the network, he must be insufferable.

Tamron is leaving? Thomas Robers demoted? Greta? All of that sucks.

All of the "Featured Shows" on their website are hosted by white individuals.

I won't be returning as a viewer.

After noticing, on a few occasions, Trump putting his "notes" in his jacket that appear to be in a FIFTY POINT BOLD FONT, I can't help but wonder how he's "reading" all the Executive Orders he's signing & holding up for all to see.  LOL.

I had not seen this, and will have to watch for it.  I was a speechwriter for a few years, and PR consultants insisted that speech texts be in very large font with very large margins, so the reader sees about as much text as he/she would see on a teleprompter.  It made me crazy, but speakers actually preferred it.

I get what you're saying but, from the beginning, his 'notes' were always typed in an extra-large font.  The point I'm trying to make is that I think he needs large print because his eyesight isn't that great & he's too vain to wear glasses.  OTOH, he may have had the lasik surgery.  Just sayin'.

I hope all his voters are happy to see so many Muslims in misery ... it will be a miracle if that big, dumb asshole doesn't start a war!!!

Only on MSNBC (or your local news)- federal judge ordered a stay in New York re Trump's immigration order.  Protests across the country for immigrants who live in US being detained in airports  None of the major networks covering it.  CNN was covering it until 9:00 when their show re the 80s was a bigger priority- or bigger sponsorship  - and ended their coverage.

This country has never seen or experienced anything like this presidency.

You are not a dictator Mr. Trump.  These are not tenants you can evict.  There are 3 branches of government.  Granted - the legislative branch is on life support.

Edited as I went to bed before midnight.

Well I have to give MSNBC a failing grade.  I had gone to bed before midnight and didn't realize that MSNBC went to "Lock Up" at Midnight - because as far as MSNBC is concerned only one coast matters.

I get my primary news from here.   I find their liberal position soothing as we watch the fabric of our beautiful nation ripped to shreds.  They speak of the horror and find humor where they can.  When I see others in the media as horrified and I, it helps.  Mainly Rachael and Lawrence.  I like Joy too.  No Greta.
