Chloe Troast was not asked back after one season. Plus info on featured players

That shocks me.  And it saddens me that three women and non-binary cast members are the one not asked back. I liked all three but I would have for sure thought that Chloe did enough to earn another year at SNL.

Agree. I liked Chloe and thought she made a good mark. I’m surprised she wasn’t asked back.

Molly didn’t do much but I figured as she made it through the first year she’d be back.

Was Punkie axed or did she leave by choice?

I'd like to think that SNL was a stepping stone for these talented people and they are on to bigger and better.

I read that Punkie quit.  She didn’t feel like it was a good fit, even after 4 years.

I kind of agree. I never felt like the she or the show fully knew what to do with her.

Has that happened with many people that were fired early on?

It depends on how you describe "big" success, but I can think of three women off the top of my head who were let go after a year or year and a half that work pretty regularly:  Jenny Slate, Michaela Watkins, and Casey Wilson.

I will really miss Punkie.  She could always be counted on to bring it even when the sketch was nothing special.  Chloe Troast will be a loss, too.  Molly Kearney won't be.  I don't feel like Kearney ever really worked on the show.

Wait, is Molly gone, too?

I'm bummed. I think they're all really talented. And Punkie was like sunshine whenever she was on. Chloe was definitely a standout and Molly's a very reliable and funny sketch player.

Yeah, JAJ does a fantastic Trump. Hopefully not for long.

He's great but I think they write trump too benign.

I’m surprised they held onto Michael Longfellow. I like him, but he hasn’t had many impactful appearances. Maybe they’re grooming him to take over Weekend Update when Colin and Michael eventually leave.

What would probably make the most sense would be to bring someone on as his successor and have him guide them through the transition. I wonder if they don't have someone they want, who also wants the job, and have thrown an avalanche of money at him to keep him there.

My first thoughts after reading the article were "I wonder if he doesn't want to leave yet, or they don't have someone to replace him yet." I can see it both ways. Either way, though, they probably threw a bunch of money at him, regardless.

So much for posting about my thoughts of Lorne's (now no longer official) exit after Season 50.

Really, it was just thoughts about how the entire cast exited during a show-runner's exit (1980 & 1985), along with a comparison to TPIR following their 35th season, and how the show would die without Bob.

Pretty good news to be honest.  Although exiting after the 50th season as mentioned would be a great time to bolt, if he's in fairly decent health, I wouldn't be surprised to see him continue, if possible until the end of the decade.  That way, it's 50 years as the EP

It's funny because I thought for sure I read that he had already changed his mind about a year or so ago.  But then the media spoke as if his retiring was a real possibility, so I thought I had made it up in my head.

And it makes sense.  He probably thought 50 years sounded good when 50 was an abstract concept.  Now that it's closer, actually stopping working doesn't sound as appealing.
