The growing tension between Oliver and Diggle puts both their lives at risk when they go after Damien Darhk and a H.I.V.E. deployed meta-human. Meanwhile, Laurel talks Thea into returning to Nanda Parbat to ask her father to put Sara into the Lazarus Pit. However, Laurel is surprised when Nyssa refuses to do it.

If Nyssa gets killed I'm out. Felicity isn't even my deal breaker, that is.

You can really tell that Katie Cassidy has been working out over the summer. She's not Caity ripped but she looks good. My sister, who doesn't watch but has seen me watch, wanted to know who the muscled up girl was.

Probably teeny tiny Ray Palmer.

Oh. Of course. I got really excited then. Bahahaha. Now. Not so much. LOL.

I'm already tired of The Ghosts, they just multiplying and are taken down at the beginning of every episode in some random location but we don't know why or what they are doing at these places. I am happy to finally get some smaller more detailed fight scenes in this episode. Oliver isn't used to dealing with metas which is nice.

Good ol'daddy Merlyn wanting his daughter to kill to quench her thirst. Lol I can't at Malcolm feeding Thea's thirst for blood. Is he just going to keep sending his men for her to slaughter? "Hey honey, here's your dinner!" lol. His whole reason to bring back Sara was lame though. "please daughter don't be mad at me for wanting you to kill people, here, you can bring your friend back! peace now?"

Felicity for the win for shutting Diggle/Oliver down. Though it is hard to expect everyone to rally at the ring of a phone. And it didn't take long for Diggle to reveal his secret so him divulging it to Laurel isn't much of a big deal now.

The hideout was way to easy to find.

They are doing a good job on the Oliver/Diggle front and Thea's storyline, but REALLY half-assing it on the Laurel/Sara front. They aren't putting nearly as much thought into it as they should be doing. Instead of allowing us into Laurels head and see her go through the motions of whether or not to bring back Sara, they just give us like 2 scenes. Can't believe (well I can) that they just threw away all the development they gave to Laurel last year, not to mention all the development they gave to Laurel/Nyssa.

This was an awesome episode.

OTA. OTA banter. Oliver/Diggle making up finally. The team going out for drinks.

Felicity kicking ass and looking fabulous while doing it. I don't know how anyone could hate the gun scene when she even says she doesn't know how to shoot. She just went for it because it needed to be done. LOVE HER.

Thea/Malcolm scenes, well, I don't like Malcolm but I gotta hand it to them. Their scenes are really great.

Of all the mystical and unbelievable things that hapened in this ep, somehow the hardest one to swallow was that a girl who grew up in Las Vegas would not know the correct gambling terminology. Really?

I feel like they made a mistake there because she can count cards and everything. I call continuity error or whatever you call it. Basically FAIL.

While Malcolm may be a vile human being, I will love him forever for finally giving voicing to canon the fact that unlike Sara, Thea was in fact still alive. - meaning [Edited by mod: Fandom talk = Nope.] I just have to pull this scene as prove that.. [Double nope] the two resurrections are not Bloody the same!

looks like WM and the writes have been taking notes to our convo over the summer, at least on this matter- well partially cause they still used a shit-ass storyline to bring her back.

Nyssa Rules.

I lol'd at Felicity saying Diggle was a bit more advanced than Oliver and Oliver hurt responds. Oliver was totally getting horny when Felicity yelled at the two of them.

OTA!!

Diggle and Oliver finally made up, sort of.

I wanna take Thea and Sara into my arms - separately cause we don't want any blood shed- and hug them. especially Sara for having to deal with the lump of potato (and my apologies for potatoes everywhere for the insult) she calls her sister.

I can't even find the words to describe buckles. I will continue to hold hope that the grave we saw in the premiere was hers.

Dammit Oliver it's the sentiment that counts! Let Diggle say what he wants to say if it means he is forgiving you.

Good to see OTA working together again. Also good for Felicity being a badass in defending herself and also telling the boys to get their stuff together.

Laurel both Nyssa and Malcolm were telling you this was a bad idea. Malcolm f'n Merlyn was saying this was a bad idea and still nothing. Also when she told Thea that Sara would be fine and that Thea was just like that when she got out. How the hell would she know?!?

Good for Nyssa and also the show for destroying/ruining the LP.

I loved everything Original Team Arrow, even if the constant referencing to it felt a bit forced, but whatever. I'm loving Echo Kellum in this role and think he's fitting in really well.

Everything taking place in Nanda Parbat sucked. At this point, I just wanted Nyssa (or newly revived Sara) to lay waste to them all except Thea. Willa Holland was great in her scenes but everything else was painful. I wanted Sara back, but this was seriously awful.

I know people don't particularly like Laurel but I find her entertaining especially this episode. What could possibly go wrong with raising the dead in an evil pit of evil?

Serial killer Thea is my favorite Thea. (I am not the most faithful watcher of the show but did I miss an episode where Thea went into the Pit?). I think her story the combination of her NotQuiteSara and Laurel just might be my favorite part of the season.

Felicity has been badass since always...but she should prolly learn how to shoot and automatic weapon.

I think the Oliver/Diggle stuff was my least favorite part of the show but saying that it is nice they are friends again.

Oh my word...I was going to avoid this site until tomorrow because I'm in the middle of work, but holy crap - I loved that episode!!!!

Felicity was just great - from the original team arrow stuff to interacting with Curtis while protecting everyone's identity.  Way to go girl.  And the first time her phone messed up, I figured it was Ray trying to contact her.  I wonder how many episodes it will take for them to find him and make him big again.

Diggle and Oliver working it out - I didn't mind Diggle's anger, but I'm really glad they have worked it out and are moving on to the HIVE plot together.  One thing I noted - the guy who didn't kill Diggle in the beginning - I want to know why.  Was that his brother?  It was subtle but it HAS to mean something.  Oh and I love Felicity's line about Diggle shouldn't have been keeping a secret because he's supposed to be more evolved than Oliver - hehe!

Oh and the sense everything is making this year is so far above most of last season - Nyssa totally disabled the pit - that's why they won't do this again.  I love that Nyssa so opposed it and that the reason it happened was because in the end - Malcolm was desperate to make things better for Thea.  I'm actually looking forward to this story with Sara - like a lot.  I'm fascinated by the fact that Laurel tells her dad immediately and that he turns to Darhk (who suppose should know a thing or two about the pit given the story last season about him and Ras) and that Team Arrow knows he turned to Darhk.  I'm not spoiled much but I check enough tags that I am now REALLY looking forward to

Constantine. Actually I watched a couple episodes of that show and will probably check it out on Netflix at some point. So yea, I'm thrilled he is coming to Arrow.

and the rest of the Sara story.

Most importantly, I can't wait until next week and I did not feel that way last year at all.

Also can't tell you how happy I am that Diggle told Oliver (and Felicity) about H.I.V.E. Yassssss! The team is back together again!

This episode should have been called "Neener neener, Original Team Arrow is a thing too losers. Boo hoo".

Now that it's officially acknowledged by the show, it's a debate that needs to die.

Of all the mystical and unbelievable things that hapened in this ep, somehow the hardest one to swallow was that a girl who grew up in Las Vegas would not know the correct gambling terminology. Really?

I was surprised by that too, especially since the show established in "The Undertaking" that Felicity knows her shit when it comes to gambling.

I also liked, "I don't like you going there without backup." "I'm not. I have you."

I loved everything Original Team Arrow, even if the constant referencing to it felt a bit forced, but whatever.

I thought they referenced it a bit too much as well. I actually liked the Original Gangstas ramble form the beginning of the ep more than the OTA at the end.

Edited because I got the quotes wrong.

Yeah, the constant referencing to OTA was a bit weird. I liked it at first because it felt like a meta type throw out to fans which was great. But then to repeat it was a bit much. I appreciate the sentiment though.

I really liked the Thea/Malcolm stuff in NP. I don't like Malcolm but I can't deny that it's kind of interesting to have that type of dynamic where he's ruthless and his way of being a good father is the complete opposite of the norm. I mean, I really hate him for what he did and forcing him in last season was terrible but I feel like it's a better fit for him now, in NP.

As for the Laurel/Sara stuff. I just…I don't really know. There wasn't much to go on. Laurel didn't listen as usual. Shocker.

The return of OTA! My loves! How I have missed thee! Nothing else could have happened in this episode, and I would be thrilled with just that.

Nyssa, you are officially the voice of reason in this entire show.

Oh, and I laughed when Oliver reminded Dig that he saved him from, not bullets, but playing cards being shot at him by a meta human that were peeled from his skin. His voice was just like "How did my life get to the point where I say things like this?"

Loved this one! LOVED NYSSA! LOVED OTA!! Loved that Nyssa ruined the pit, threatened Malcolm, blamed Laurel, and LIVED! YAY!

Also LOVED:

Felicity's Loud Voice

DD's smarmy "Deal" to DoubleDown--seriously, he's my favorite villain ever on this show

Felicity and Curtis, especially Curtis's gratitude for Felicity's heroism

The digs at Digg--so many of our complaints from last week addressed

The Bromance is back on, and the guesses that they were only playing nice over margaritas were wrong

Laurel still looks like a selfish bitch

Malcolm isn't a grey character--he's clearly evil, even if he's trying to sell something different. No redemption hints from tonight.

Focus was clearly on OTA, even for LL's big episode

"It's not a secret. It's a surprise." OK, I loved that so much!

Worried about:

Malcolm mentioning that Thea will have the bloodlust until she vanquishes the person who hurt her--she's that person for Sara, right?!

Thea not realizing that Malcolm is that guy for her--he's the one responsible AND he's also RAG now

Not liking the FB LI. I only want to focus on Olicity, especially given that there's no physical difference between FB and PD Oliver

Ugh

Didn't like how KL and JB played the sparring a little bit flirty

Poor Sara

Ray is always creepy and messing with her phone, right?

It's so obvious at this point that the writers didn't think Sara's resurrection through. All they knew is that they had to bring her back so they just wrote it into an episode and didn't go any further with trying to make actual sense of it for their characters.

Watched Arrow tonight for the first time since 3x01. Best things about tonight? OTA, Thea and Nyssa.

Malcolm and Laurel must've drank a gallon of stupid juice at some point in their past because their reasons for putting Sara in the LP were worth several face palms.

Screw the grave speculation! From now on I'm focused on "Who's gonna skewer Malcolm Merlyn?" speculation. So many choices!!

This was a bad episode for Laurel. Wow. This was the Malcolm/Thea relationship we deserved in S03.

I really liked this episode a lot.  A return to the original Team Arrow dynamic was the highlight though Felicity defending herself with a machine gun was a close second.  The metahuman was cool and I've been a fan of the actor since Teen Wolf.  Like Felicity's new assistant and the two work well together.  Great return for John Barrowman as Malcolm remains as horrible a father as ever.  Very welcome return for Katrina Law, who was awesome.

I do think though that Dhark hiring assassins to kill Oliver and company and them failing is going to get old real quickly.

Can we stop trying to pretend that Felicity was a part of the original team? That only works if you think Team Arrow began in s2. Which I doubt.

Solid episode...didn't like that the only way to put Oliver and Diggle on good terms was to have him be just as shady/lying.

Nyssa and Thea were aces. I hope that they don't skim over Thea's guilt/reconciliation with Sara.

Also..that look in Thea's eyes when she killed that random league member was hot.

How did double down find the secret lair again?

Link to comment

I admit, I was a little worried that Original Team Arrow was going to be the B-story, but NOPE! And I love that Original Team Arrow (I'm gonna keep typing that all night) is now canon! The smiles at the end were real. Oliver is working on Lair 3.0 (and judging by Felicity's smile, she certainly has a hand in it. Hopefully it's gonna be in the same building). Love that they didn't drag out Oliver and Digg being on the outs. That scene with Felicity, Curtis and Double Down was really fun and exciting (I'm just gonna handwave how DD was able to get to the lair, like where's the other exit and how did he know about it?!?!). So many thoughts. I'll come back later after rewatching :)

EDITED TO CHANGE: Hopefully Lair 3.0 is NOT in the same building.

But seriously, why did Malcolm agree to resurrect Sara- right after telling Thea that her bloodlust wouldn't be quenched until she killed the person who hurt her? Sara knows Thea killed her, and Malcolm knows that. Does he secretly have it out for her or what? That makes no sense.

Awesome OTA scenes. Awesome. So glad we've put the rift between Digg and Oliver to bed.

Oh my word. Laurel. Thea just rushed into the room clearly upset, talking about how she wouldn't kill anyone, and you don't ask any follow up questions? Plus that hug. Why? To comfort Thea? The person whose agitation you've just decided to ignore? The look on Laurel's face was so not about comforting her "sister." It was all about being exultant she was getting her way. IN SPITE OF EXERYONE WHO KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT THE PIT AND ITS EFFECTS TELLING HER IT WAS A HORRIBLE IDEA. Ugh.

Also, Laurel caressing the coffin and talking about Sara's "spirit" was positively creepy to me. Nyssa should have substituted "selfishness" for "grief" in terms of why Laurel's actually doing this. It's been over a year and there's been no action or word this season - or most of last - to indicate Laurel is so overwhelmed from grief that this makes sense.

PREACH NYSSA!

I'm really glad Nyssa didn't die like I was suspecting she would because I need to her to come back and drop more truth bombs on Laurel and fulfill her promise to Malcolm. I loved Sara and I'm glad she's back, but the way they chose to tell this story is terrible. Laurel is irredeemable for me now.

Praise be that the Oliver and Diggle bromance is back as well. All of the OTA stuff was wonderful. Felicity and Curtis were great on their own as well. Curtis is quickly growing on me.

If we are seeing who loved Sara more, it would be Nyssa not Laurel. Nyssa was saying exactly what most of us were saying. Laurel wasn't doing this out of love, she was just doing whatever she wanted not caring about the consequences. Thea who is going through minimal effects from being nearly dead didn't want Sara to go through even worse effects.

My favorite line was when Nyssa told Laurel that what is happening to Sara now is on Laurel. I'm glad she destroyed the LP. Malcolm deserves nothing and I hope Nyssa, Sara and Thea will kill him together.

I'm more interested in Sara's storyline now, but that poor girl has been to hell and back multiple times now. She deserves some happiness.

Since this is the first episode I watched since 3x01, I liked the new guy. Although I thought Felicity grew up in a casino and knew how to play cards, why she not know how to play poker? I did love her closing her eyes and just shooting wildly. That's one way to keep your target on their toes, they have no idea where to go. I'm also glad that OTA mended their fences, they are a better team when they work together. But now they will have crazy souless Sara to deal with.

This episode also further highlighted, for me personally, how overcrowded the team is during the stunt scenes. I like it when there's less of them. I think they need to split into smaller teams in future. It works better.

I took it as Malcolm being desperate so he wanted to contradict her just made point of "he isn't going to help Sara and he isn't going to help me."  The one thing they have kept consistent about Malcolm and Thea's relationship is as crazy, evil as he is - he does really want to have a relationship with her.

The show says many things...many here don't accept what they say about Laurel etc...why should I believe it about what "OTA" is.

She was definitely in Team Arrow in S01 though?? Even if you don't count her helping before she knew Oliver was the Hood...

I don't count that. Same way I don't count Roy being part of the team in s2 despite helping Oliver. It's when you're brought into the lair you become a part of the team with 1 exception. Ergo there were 14 (13?) eps when Felicity wasn't in the team and it was just Oliver and Diggle.

Or wait...is it 11? (the first two Diggle wasn't on the team)
