backformore October 14, 2015 Share October 14, 2015 There has been a LOT of stuff written about Cubs fans, and how people all over the country have supported the Cubs, partly because the games were broadcast during the day on channels people had access to. People IN Chicago, people NEAR Chicago, people who once lived in Chicago, or are descended from Cubs fans. The "lovable loser" team is now doing well, WHY would a TV show alienate their TV audience by not getting in on the celebration? It seems stupid to ignore it. especially since, as others have said, this show has made such a huge deal out of basketball playoffs. 11 Link to comment
Popular Post Celia Rubenstein October 14, 2015 Popular Post Share October 14, 2015 (edited) Whoopie is very angry that the ladies are no longer submitting to her..She does not like to be contradicted about anything.. ...I hate it when she is pontificating all of the time..Why do the producers allow her to get away with it...It is really off-putting.. Whoopi strikes me as the kind of person who must have been the smartest, best informed person in her circle/family/neighborhood whatever as she came of age. She seems to be used to people being in awe of her brilliance and fascinated by her insights, and she has developed the awful habit of thinking she knows more than everyone else around her no matter the situation. And consequently, she feels entitled to condescendingly lecture everyone in her midst, no matter the subject. The worst part is that she completely lacks the ability to accept it when she is not deferred to as the expert on any given topic. Challenges to her thinking are just ridiculous to her. She shows her contempt openly, having no respect for anyone else's opinion. On a show called "The View" her attitude is not only completely out of place, it defeats the purpose of the entire program. In my opinion, Whoopi Goldberg is the worst thing that ever happened to this show. Not Hasselbeck, not Sherri, not Jenny McCarthy . They were idiots, of course, but they were obviously idiots. But Whoopi's brand of idiocy is more damaging because it is insidious. Her foolishness passes for wisdom because it is delivered with such confidence, and when her co-hosts refuse to get down in the mud to argue with her is seen as accepting what she has to say as right. When they do dare to voice a different opinion, her willingness to drown everyone out and shut them down is mistaken as winning arguments on the merits. As a result, her biased, misinformed opinions are blasted over the airwaves to the masses, spreading her tommyrot from coast to coast, virtually unchallenged. The only remedy is for her fellow panelists to stand up to her and call her out and not back down when she gets rude. I want to cheer every time one of them puts her in her place, however gently. I can only pray every time I see it happen that it is a trend and will continue, and eventually it will be come the norm. Given that Whoppi requires being worshipped to even get her to show up for work in the morning, maybe if they do it often enough, she will LEAVE. CheezyXpressed October 14, 2015 Share October 14, 2015 I just saw some of Monday's episode and had a chuckle when Whoopi said, "Have a good Christmas, Chanukkah, and Ramadan." after they discussed Hilary Clinton. The part that made me laugh was the Ramadan part, because it's currently taking place in the summer now. It's been many years since the three holidays were happening at the same time. 2 Link to comment
Foghorn Leghorn October 14, 2015 Share October 14, 2015 I actually mentioned her habit while watching the most recent Shark Tank. It featured NERDWAX, a product to apply to glasses' nose "things" (I don't recall what they're called). The stuff keeps one's glasses from sliding down. I have mentioned on the forum before about how annoying it is to see her push those friggin' glasses back up every 2 seconds! Her glasses don't fit her properly! Plus she is probably sweating under the lights and all those huge clothes. 3 Link to comment

bannana October 15, 2015 Share October 15, 2015 Not "all" of Canada has jumped on the Blue Jays bandwagon, sorry :) I am & always will be a Red Sox Fan & currently cheering for the Cubs :) That's okay, dumddownus, I am secretly cheering for the Cubs too, but it is quite a phenomenom to see our country behind a team from Toronto! It really was. Yes, I may be sensitive because I am -- my avatar gives it away -- a lifelong Cubs fan. But if it were a New York basketball team, Whoopi would be screaming in ecstasy. Something out of her interest scope? Sneer, scorn, stay silent, don't put on the hat, change the subject as soon as possible. She acted like Paula had brought a turd and slipped it into the punchbowl at a garden party. She was also vile on the subject of Jennifer Lawrence bringing up pay discrepancy. Because it's not a new subject, it's not okay for Jennifer Lawrence to mention it? Because Whoopi did it first, no one else can be upset by it? Whoopi would NOT shut up and talked continuously through everyone else. If I'd been Michelle, I would have put my hand over her mouth. Her ego is totally run amuck. She not only will stifle any conversation that differs from her opinion, she'll also talk over the person so the opposing viewpoint can hardly be heard. She's not interested in any viewpoint except her own, and the fact that she's not even willing to listen when someone else talks is very telling. Rude and close-minded, isn't that a great combination for a moderator of a panel show called The View? For what it's worth, I thought Michelle's point that someone young voicing concern about pay discrepancy would reach the ears of a new audience was a good one. I guess Whoopi wants to be the spokesperson for the world. She is reaching new heights of unbearability. Time to write TPTB at The View again. This was ridiculous. Whoopi should have been supporting a young woman who is advocating what all women have been advocating for decades. She made it sound like Jennifer Lawrence was wealthy and wouldn't have noticed that she was making less than men. No, she had a superstar trajectory, so she was grateful, and then she learned that men who are doing the same job as her, acting opposite her, are making more money. Hey, I went through that realization decades ago and was outraged then. I see no reason to diminish younger women who are shining a light on this issue. Whoopi should have been thanking Jennifer for bringing this issue to a younger generation of women. Women have fought for equal rights for hundreds of years, and the fight goes on. For old as dirt Whoopi (not much older than me, but she sure acts it) to say, we've been saying this all along you young whippersnapper, who gives a shit, shut up, was just vile and disappointing. 18 Link to comment

Well I was so disgusted at the fans behavior, throwing beer bottles & garbage on the field, hitting a baby on the head during the top of the 7th..... Now all these sheep fans are calling the 7th the best inning ever, at least they could clarify that the bottom of the 7th was good for Toronto, not the asinine fans reaction in the top..... I say "sheep fans" because they are blindly following a sport the majority know nothing about, there, my days rant is over & the mods will probably delete because it is not about the spew :) 3 Link to comment
DollEyes October 15, 2015 Share October 15, 2015 (edited) Once again, Whoopi shows that her arrogance/ignorance knows no bounds. Her throwing shade at Viola Davis is bad enough, but her dissing Jennifer Lawrence for daring to publically believe that women should get equal pay is beneath contempt. Whoopi's saying that Ms. Lawrence shouldn't discuss sexism in Hollywood just because she's not the first person to be hurt by it is like saying that we shouldn't discuss racism just because we have a Black president. BTW, Whoop, Bradley Cooper, the co-star whom JLaw mentioned in her op-ed, totally agrees with her, so you need to have more seats than the Superdome & the Staples Center, as far as I'm concerned-and STFU, while you're at it. Who gives a rat's ass about the daily life of a basic nobody who's not an actor or musician or in any form of the entertainment world? At least it's on a network that most people have never heard of, Centric. Bet Whoopie fronted the money for this show. Despite the fact that I'm a Cubs fan, giving Mathew Broderick a Cubs cap was just plain silly. He's a Mets fan, born and bred. Yes, he was in Ferris Buehler's Day Off where he was at a Cub's game, but you always see him with his kids at Met's games. 10 Link to comment

Today she was talking about her experience at working at Red Lobster as a waitress, which was pertinent to the discussion about tipping, and Raven gave her such disgusted looks. Even Joy seems dismissive of her. I feel sorry for her for because they treat her with disdain. She may not be the right fit for the show, but they could at least be polite. The infomercial about Whoopie's daughter's show is just pure nepotism. Are we supposed to be interested in the scene where she can't find her jacket and Whoopie is telling her to hurry up? Whoopi needs to realize that she is almost completely irrelevant in Hollywood; she's two generations removed from it [ in fact I think Whoopi's granddaughter is about Jennifer Lawerence's age] NO ONE under 50 in Hollywood is listening to anything Whoopi Goldberg has to say about anything that has to do with the movie industry. That's the kind of business it is and it's one reason that Jennifer Lawrence has a white hot career, is a huge star and Whoopi is in her slippers bitching about crap on a daytime talk show. Forgive me if anyone's a fan, but why in the hell does Whoopie's daughter get a freaking reality show? Who gives a rat's ass about the daily life of a basic nobody who's not an actor or musician or in any form of the entertainment world? At Do you mean being the daughter of "Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg isn't enough for you? LOL I think you are exactly right Klovestoshop. I watch reality TV. I watch good reality TV and good trashy reality TV but the ones that last more than six episodes have something interesting, a hook. And personally, I don't find being the daughter of Whoopi Goldberg interesting. Okay the hilarious part is Alex calls herself an actor and a producer but her imdb.com page is pretty bare for a 40 something year old actress; about five roles are listed including several where she played extras in her mother's projects. Basically, I think this show is Whoopi's attempt to get Alex off her payroll and maybe gain some fame. Ha!! Tuned in during their "discussion" of the Jimmy Kimmel Man on the Street interviews just in time to hear these 2 GEMS coming from Whoopi's mouth: 1.) Before you speak, do your homework. I can't believe Whoopi actually said those things. I don't think there has been anyone on this show less self-aware professionally although the competition has been fierce. Priorities, people. Priorities. Oh Celia, you know this is the best this show can do. I'm sure no one was bumped for Whoopi Week [her book, a movie she was in 25 years ago, her daughter's reality show] because this show doesn't get those kinds of guests anymore and haven't for a long time. Invited to the White House? That was something Babs could do but only to see the Christmas decorations. Even on the very rare occasion where a Hollywood A-lister will accidentally wander on to this stage the interview will rude, inaccurate and cut short. Maybe the 'new team' will be different. But I doubt it. Edited October 15, 2015 by Cosmocrush 9 Link to comment

She looked at the cap as though it was a dead rat, and when Paula talked about the championship, she turned to Michelle and started talking about "where are you doing standup tonight?" As a Chicagoan, what I saw was disdain for my city. I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw that. SOMEONE gave them those caps, what is the big fucking deal about not wanting to give the Cubs one minute of attention when they are finally having a good season? You don't have to be a baseball fan to understand the significance. AND no mention of the "Back to the future" prediction? For those who don't know, in Back to The Future II, Marty McFLy (Michael J Fox) in his time travel machine, went to the year 2015 and the headlines were that the Cubs won the World Series - it was meant in irony, a ridiculous prediction of something that could never happen - which makes this Cubs season more note-worthy. 18 Link to comment

I hope Padma eventually gets upgraded to regular co-host. She's such a good find for daytime, since she works well in both light and heavier topics.
