Nicole W needs to stop interrupting guests.   She kept cutting Jim Parsons off when he was answering questions, Then she interrupts Judy Blume  when she starts talking about her new book.

Nicole, when you have guests who are smarter and more interesting than you are - LET THEM TALK!

when you have guests who are smarter and more interesting than you are - LET THEM TALK!

That has been the problem with the View for a very very long time. The co-hosts think they are always the smartest most interesting people on the stage.  I've always said Regis Philbin and Johnny Carson were the two best talk show hosts.  They just sat back and let the guests do what they were there to do.

I'm not quite sure when it happened, but I'm thinking it was when Star Jones became Bridezilla , that is when the View became the story and not the show that told a story.  And once Rosie O came we all know how the media reported everything she said and did.  And to this day that is what the media covers.  They only talk about the View when it's a trainwreck.

And unless they drastically change this show that will be how it will always be. They wanted to make sparks.  Well IMO they should just light the thing on fire and let it burn to the ground.

Well that cinches it for me. I recorded yesterday's damn show because I wanted to see Judy Blume [Hey, remember Forever? Or Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret of the "We must! we must! We must! INCREASE our Bust!"]  But if all we got was stupidass Cackles Wallace interrupting, I might as well delete it.

Welp. I quit watching when Bitsy made me cray. Now I happened to flip thru and saw most of today's show. Did Whoopie make sense or am I indeed cray? Bc she made sense to me with the Jenner thing. Let Caitlyn Jenner have her life. imo Sheesh. Too bad about Hot in Cleveland. I watch here and there, but I guess it was time. It had a good run with great stars.

I always laugh at the whoopster's contempt for the viewers..Her daily mantra of Keep your tweets, emails and texts, cause I don't care is pretty funny to me...Why ABC allows her to say that, is mind-boggling to me...lol.. I guess since she is a movie stah, membership has it's privileges.....

He IS amazing - but it's the interview thing that The View never got right.   The INTERVIEWEE should talk more than the INTERVIEWER.   And really, that's hard when they set it up as  or 4 people interviewing  one person  for all of three minutes.  Nicole gushed over Jim Parsons and talked about her friends who love him.  The interview could have been one that was brilliant, because he has that perfect mix of confidence and humility, his play looks awesome.   It's not that hard to get a GREAT interview from him.

As susieQ said above, Johnny carson, Regis, other talk show hosts, have done interviews that are brilliant, because they realize how to draw someone out. They do their research ahead of time.  Ellen Degeneres does a good job, Jon Stewart is brilliant at it.

The women of The View lucked into jobs where they get to interview people who are talented, witty, smart - if they wanted to do their jobs WELL, they should study tapes of people who are good at interviewing, and learn from the experts.

Here's what any junior high student who wants to be a journalist knows -

Instead of TELLING someone "You've been married xxxx years to xxxxxx, you have xx kids/dogs/cats. and you've been doing xxxxx"    You instead ASK them "so tell us about your latest project".    They know who they are, they have an idea of what to say and how to say it.   The audience is willing to listen to them talk for the entire three minutes.  If they stop talking, ask another question.  especially when interviewing ACTORS -  they know how to do this!

So is Geddie still associated with the show or not? I noticed his name among the credits at the end and his wiki entry shows him listed as the EP. If he's still there behind the scenes that would explain a lot.

First time I've watched in a while.  I tuned in  because I love Deborah Roberts.  She hardly got an introduction and she didn't get to speak very much, but I enjoy her.  I have always thought she would make a good moderator.

...but the producers have no faith in those smarties.  They continually create the frickin' GAMES.  Right in the middle of some Q&A a co-host will say, "And we've created this game for everyone!"   Why do I watch?  At least it's on the DVR and I love my FF button.

I've only watched two segments, frequently using FF, but The Whoopster's flapping mouth is pretty much all I've seen.  The other women try to make a point, & some do, but they're always cut off by Nic-hole or The All-Knowing Whoopster.  GAWD!!

Oh ya, & the always shy Whoopster, paraded a huge picture of herself that had been taken at a function she attended last night.  (We know Whoopi wouldn't want us to do this, but ....)

And unless they drastically change this show that will be how it will always be. They wanted to make sparks.  Well IMO they should just light the thing on fire and let it burn to the ground.

This was the year they were going to 'drastically" change it, remember?  Three new, relatively bright co-hosts, a new studio, new set, new producer, etc.  After suffering through The Year of Barbara starring Barbara Walters, we were done with her and her flying monkey Sweaty Geddie.  Sherri and Jenny were flushed too.   The ABC Entertainment out in California decided to stop pretending to watch and dumped the show on the News division.  All good starts.

Such a bright and shiny new season!  But alas, it was not to be.  They left a turd in the pool disguised as a moderator and she contaminated all of it for me:

  • The new set was stripped down and changed back at WG's instance, only worse because now she has a throne.
  • The most popular co-host, the only co-host with any talk show host experience and talent,  was attacked almost daily until she finally left.
  • The one with the pretty blond hair and relatable stories watched this happen and quickly decided to behave like a Whoopi Goldberg superfan while simultaneously  labeling herself a Republican before every comment.
  • The one with the accent seemed nervous about the entire gig and took to reading lengthy blue cards with lots of statistics on them in hopes The All-Knowing Big Mouth in the moderator's throne wouldn't cut her off or worse,  run her off.
  • Then the endless parade of co-hosts came back.
  • The lame Not Hot Topics came back as well.
  • Whoopi's disgusting bathroom humor became a weekly, if not daily part of the show.

In other words, at this point  the show has been crap longer than it was good.  It's never going to get better, it's only going to get worse.  It's not even fun to snark on anymore because everyone on the show plays the same tired part every. single. day.

Just read this over on The View in the Media thread:

http://deadline.com/2015/06/the-view-director-ashley-gorman-exits-1201437431/

SO, The Whoopster is signed on for another f'n year.  GAWD HELP US!!!

According to this, Whoopi is the only one whose signed a deal but I don't know why they really need anyone else at this point. Clearly, no one is going to check her (like Babs used to do) and if she could make a tough pro like RO miserable then she's going to be able to roll right over anyone else as well.  Anyone really qualified for this gig hopefully wouldn't want it.

So I think they should just stop pretending this was the idea for a show that Babs had way back in the day and call it what it's become: The Whoopi Goldberg Hour and let her have it all to herself.   Let her run it too. Put her name on it and  let her actually work to either make this a decent show or run it into the ground.  Okay, I guess that should be underground since I think she's already run into the ground, lol.

I'm shocked to read this, frankly. I thought for sure we'd get a "We don't know! We weren't there!" from her Oh, wait, the Duggars aren't A-List Hollywood celebrities.

I wanted to watch that interview on Fox, and I'm one who LOATHES that network, but I had to work an all-nighter.  So, after getting the constant Megyn Kelly was going to "hit them hard" with questions, I read everywhere, how she soft-balled them and from the few questions I heard, it was all in the tone of "Oh you poor parents. Just what went through your minds and how did you handle it?" Instead of why didn't you turn your son in to the police?

But that's a rant that should probably go in another thread/forum.

And there's no "alleged" when said person ADMITS to said CRIME.

The basic stance of the parents was the daughters didnt know what was going on so it wasnt a big deal.

Some highlights.... Megyn Kelly asked how they dealt with it when they found out it was still going on. Daddy said it wasnt actual rape... it was just touching.

The cop they reported his crimes to was a family friend... who is now in jail for child porn

This whole thing disgusts me

I can understand not wanting to send your child to jail..... but protect your daughters... get your son help.... remove him from the home and send him to a mental health facility,,,, not church camp where they will help justify his behavior.

Yeah... that was gross

Church officials are mandated reporters.... but they failed..... I bet the family doesnt sue the church the way they want to sue the city.

Oh... another pathetic incident...... they are all upset because their children are being exploited by the press and the report going public... and how do they handle that exploitation ?? by parading their daughters on a national "news" interview.... talk about exploitation   *SMH*

If I could, I'd give you 1000 votes for this statement Cosmo.  The View (as we liked it) is gone, so we may as well just get over it & move on.  (No one is snarking about Kelly Ripa & there's sooooo much fodder there.  Just sayin'.)

Did you hear her opinion on the guy taking his assault riffle in that Georgia airport?? She said he was just protecting his wife and kids..... even though neither one was there with him

ignorance at it's finest

EDIT: Gotta correct my statement.... He went to the airport with his wife to drop off his daughter

Ugh.  This show.

The information in the Duggar case was not leaked by some unknown person.  If I understand the thread about it here at PTV correctly, the information was released by the local Chief of Police in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.  The records were available for release because they were merely police investigation records from a case that was closed.  They were not sealed juvenile records. They had never been sealed in any way because the case was never moved to the juvenile division of the police for investigation or had never proceeded to court (juvenile records are not subject to seal until one of those things happens, apparently).

If they had watched the interview they would know that Jim Bob and Michelle were talking about suing the police chief for releasing the records.  They asserted she must have some kind of personal  agenda which motivated her decision to release the info.  It couldn't be, you know ... the law.

But thanks for the baseless sanctimonious outrage, just the same, ladies!!  It wouldn't be The View without it!

p.s. Nicole braying about how "they are all victims!!!" made me want to slap her.  How the hell is Josh a victim?  At most he is the victim of some bad parenting, but given what he did, his supposed victimization doesn't warrant being mentioned in the same breath as that of his sisters.  At his hand.  She is such a fool!

I've been watching this week to see what they had to say about the Duggars.   I actually agreed with what Whoopi had to say on the subject today.  What is up with Nicolle's constant pretending that she doesn't know how to pronounce Duggar?  Does she think it's cute to act like a dumbass or is she trying to disassociate herself from disgraced Republicans?

I had to Google Molly Sims.  I'd never heard of her.

One of the most disgusting moments for me during that interview was during JimBob's (what a name) proclamation that "Parents are NOT mandated reporters!".

Well, right.   But my issue isn't that they didn't REPORT what was happening, it's that they didn't take immediate steps to make sure it didn't happen again (which it did), talk to all the kids about it, let them know to tell you immediately if josh says or does anything to make them feel uncomfortable,  and then check in with the girls on a regular basis to make sure they felt safe.   Most of all, you make sure he is never alone with a younger child again.

AND, of course, get counseling for the girls and josh  - but a counselor WOULD be a mandated reporter, so that could be the reason for not going that route.

BUT - the biggest thing, is that after you know that your son molested your daughter(s), you do NOT go on a TV show to show the world what a perfect family you are, you do not make statements about how homosexuals and transgenders are out to molest kids, and then you hang a "closed"  sign on your uterus.  Stop making new humans, and start caring for the ones you already made.

  • Love 15

The Duggars were very sketchy about the professional counseling the kids "received."

The DA was never involved.....nor a court appearance.

The girls were raised to "keep sweet", and have a good countenance (facial expression) and to warn the boys while out walking about a girl approaching that wasn't appropriately attired by saying "NIKE" (look at your shoes boys.....the approaching girl/s might "defraud" you). IOW it was the girls responsibility to make sure boys were not tempted.

They were brainwashed starting a 6 months with "blanket training" for complete obedience.  JMHO

Yes, Molly Simms adds nothing to the panel.  I can't think of one thing that she's said that has been relevant or interesting. I guess they feel they have to have five people on the panel, even if the fifth one is useless.  The other four are pretty useless too, so why should I care? Even with the snark that I enjoy on this board, I don't know how much longer I can subject myself to this lame show.

I really get a laugh at the end of the show when Whoopie reminds us how she  appreciates the viewers of the show. It's coerced by the producers, I'm sure. As long as she can cash her checks, I'm sure she doesn't care one whit about the viewers out there, as she often reminds us earlier in the show.

For those people who say "the family did all they could"

What did they do?? After Josh went to his parents to confess..... they claim to enact "safeguards" .... but then he came to his parents twice more to confess again..... after the 3rd time (a year later) the parents went to the church elders.... who suggested they send him to "dont do that again" camp..... after he got back from camp..... a few more months later..... they finally went to the police.... well a buddy that worked for the police.... who gave Josh a stern talking to

So again.... what did the parents do to protect any of their kids??

I missed the talk today, Medicinecrow, can you post the discussion on here? I would love to see it....I liked how the Whoopster called out the Duggar family...She was right in the way that they are using the Christian card to elicit sympathy from the public, when they have shown hatred and intolerance towards gay people and transgender people....I am pretty sure with 19 children that there are bound to be some that are LGBT, who are suffering in silence. Hopefully, the family will disappear from TV forever...My heart goes out to the victims, I am pretty sure that these girls were told to forget what happened to them and to move on.. I wonder what other disgusting things have been covered up by that family... The Bible does say do not judge, for thou shalt be judge in return..They have had  no problems judging LGBT people, fanning the flames of hatred and intolerance in an intolerant world.. Now it is there turn to be skewered......

Whoopi was on The Chew today promoting her socks (their audience did not get any).

Let's see - she doesn't like veggies or eggs - that was worthy of 2 "Don''t text me, I don't care"/s.

She would wear a bra and panties if they were made of prosciutto.

Surprised the Chew Crew was not aware when she passed gas on the other side of the wall dividing the sound stages they share.

I never heard of Molly Sims either, but, I don't even care enough about her to Google her.

She was in that really good show, Las Vegas, that starred James Caan and Josh Duhamel; her character was Caan's daughter and an igit of the first order on the show as well.

And for General Hospital fans who loved Brenda Barrett, it also starred Vanessa Marcil.

Too bad about Hot in Cleveland. I watch here and there, but I guess it was time. It had a good run with great stars.

I made a point to catch this interview (because I really enjoy HIC and it's stars) and didn't even make it through to the end of the segment.  For one thing, it only took 30 seconds for Whoopi to make the interview all about herself but then Raven abruptly cut the whole thing off to "play" some lame game (Hot or Not) and then read "Crougars" off her blue card.  She seemed confused, the guests were confused, the whole thing was a typical Spew clusterfuck.

By the way, I'm sure this gimmick of game playing with the guests in the middle of an interview is an pathetic attempt to replicate the success Andy Cohen has doing it all the time on his WWHL show.    The thing is, it's a regular segment on WWHL (a segment called Game Time! interestingly enough) and it works.  Randomly cramming it into an interview on this show?   Not so much.

ETA:  I would be remiss if I didn't mention those gorgeous shoes Nicole was wearing Wednesday with the red dress.  I died.   The only redeeming part of the part of the show I bothered to watch, lol.

She has a BA from Berkeley in Mass Communications and a master's from Northwestern's school of journalism.   She has written three novels.  She has been (supposedly) and is a consultant on media communications.  One would think she'd need only to see the written word to know how to pronounce it.  If not, hearing it once or twice should suffice.  Not Our Little Cackles!  She's so cute and helpless...let's just give her the benefit of the doubt.
