I apologize and throw myself at the feet of fellow PTV View posters asking for forgiveness for ever thinking Raven would make a good co-host. She seemed ok at first and gave the impression that she could fight off Whoopi's influence but after today it's apparent she's going in the the direction of becoming Whoopi Jr. attitude wise.

Don't feel bad, Jaded. I "liked" your post when you first stated that. At least then RS was giving back a little guff to Whoopi while everyone else was kissing her butt. More time with RS reveals more annoyances. So it goes...

The ass kissing of Whoopie continues....The Whoopster on a $20 bill, really Nicole..Unbelievable!

Did anyone not know they were going to end up doing this?  I was just listening from the kitchen - not even watching - and I could see this coming from a mile away. Sure enough, I walked in to the living room just in time to see Whoopi's mug plastered on a twenty.  This show is so predictably bad.

Mika B. is in danger of morphing into a Q-tip.

What disturbs me out about Mika's appearance is that her hair color is so close to her skin color, when they back up the camera focus really far for a group shot, it looks like her hair is part of her body which gives her the appearance of having a really misshapen head.   It freaks me out lol

Rosie Perez with a scary hat hair wig(?) on her head

Was that the wig I've heard tell of?  I was wondering what the hell was going on with her hair.  I thought maybe she had been wearing a hat before she came out and decided to take it off and the last second, leaving her with hat head.

Oh my goodness, Nicolle's voice is especially bad today

I can't stand that frickin' dolphin squeal of hers.  And then shewilltalkreallyfast because she gets all excited and between the squeal and the rapid fire speech you can't understand a damn thing she says.  Which is half okay because she never has anything to say that interests me, but still, the sound is so annoying!

And what does she coat her lips with?  Has anyone else noticed that?  It's not lip gloss ... it's like she smears glue on her lips then buries them in a bowl of glitter.  When they do a close up shot of her I can't see anything else.  It actually makes me kind of queasy.  I always find myself wiping at my mouth when they show her in some kind of weird reaction like the way you can't help rubbing your nose when someone you are talking to has something in their nostril.

I can't get over this tribute to Whoopi this week. It just seems so inappropriate, imo, since the show knew the seriously scary journey she was making. Then to add by NW  "Whoopi would hate this!" Ya think? And they do it anyway?

It is terribly sad, and even more so since it is daunting to be the last of a generation to the rest of the family. I think, at least for me since I'm 68, one starts thinking about that as the previous generations pass on.

I'm just glad Joy was there to squash Nicolle and her ceaseless defense of GWB and placing him on a pedestal like she does. Jeb pissed in his own cornflakes by referencing his brother lately. Let him deal with his own fallout. I certainly don't want a repeat of the Bush years.

Yeah, Joy's jokes are stale but at least we get to see some of that spark that's been missing for so long.

ETA: Totally agree, Roger! Whoopi loves all your Tweets. Yeah, right!

I hate it about Whoopi's brother. That's so tragic. But they're acting like Whoopi is the one who died. Showing clips from her highest grossing movies is just strange to me. Why not show highlights from her time on this show? Oh wait...

I think we all remember the Elisabeth years and how she was such an apologist for GWB.  Guess now Nicholle is going to be Jeb Bush cheerleader.

My question is why this @ all?!?! I don't remember saying, "Oh, please promise me we will never have a Whoopi-free hour" -- I don't remember them ever doing this when someone was off for whatever reason. I am very sorry about her brother but puhleese -- St. Whoopi will be back, you just hold on Nicole  . .

When Joy is on the show, you can appreciate her wit and comic ability to move the show along. In comparison, the others really are dull and almost unwatchable. Raven continues to show her incompetence by contradicting herself and offering inane comments and strange faces. Nicolle is just plain irritating, Rosie is nice, but this format is not good for her, and Whoopie has turned into a raging, complaining old grouch. (I'm wondering if they can't find any decent hosts to come on the show because it is such a disaster and being on the show might taint a career.) If Joy does decide to return, and I hope she does, I hope they offer her big bucks.

Where have they all got the impression that Whoopi is this adored person the audience misses so desperately?  I NEVER see or hear anything good about her.  Not on TV, the traditional press, or online.

Are they going by Whoopi's Q ratings?   Here is a link to the 2014 Q ratings of daytime TV personalities.

http://www.thewrap.com/daytime-q-scores/

Whoopi is highly regarded, it seems.  I don't know what 1,800 people they had do the rankings, but I  suspect none of them must never, ever actually watch The View.

They must be thinking of her movie roles or that wise old alien she played on Star Trek the Next Generation or something.

Joy really needs to stop. with the fat jokes though. She brings the political debates which I love on this show. Just quit with the tired "jokes" Joy.

I have not missed Joy's "humor" one bit.  I do appreciate her ability to express herself when it comes to political discussions, but I'm not sure putting up with her idea of what's funny is worth it.  And she derails other people's good points sometimes by insisting on interjecting some kind of joke while they are talking.    She just tries too damn hard to be funny sometimes and it irks me.

Raven is just annoying the piss out of me. How old is she? Almost 30?  And she is already so sanctimonious and judgmental?  Damn, I hate to think what she will be like when she is 50.

I don't remember her being quite as big an asshole when she was sitting on the other side of the table.  Is there something about sitting in that seat that just makes people turn unbearable or something?

I just finished watching today's show & really MUST say that I was shocked that RP threw her hands over her mouth & screamed "Oh my God!" when Joy said GWB was intellectually challenged (or something to that effect) when they were talking about invading Iraq/Afghanistan.  How DARE this woman, who does not have a firm grasp on the ability to build a sentence, let alone a paragraph, FEIGN shock when Joy states the obvious.  Gawd, she's terminally idiotic!!!

  • Love 8

I hope Joy is on when SS fills in for RP on the 28th.....already been taped. And no WG, of course.

OMG - Raven, NW, SS and who else?

IMO these producers need to go! And yes, shockingly Maddow's former EP included.

What a circus.....sigh.

Even today Joy said that in the pre-show meeting they discussed Paltrow and were told what she ate during the food stamp challenge. What was not mentioned is GP could NOT do it for a week and went out to dinner during the challenge.

BTW......seems to me RP's hair is much too heavy for her in the mermaid style with heavy bangs - she seems she is squashed down.

LOL NW - Jeb did a complete turn around today. As most of the other contenders say they would not have engaged in Iraq then.

I watched today because Joy was on . . . really miss what she contributes to the show.

I agree that it seems a little odd for them to do the Whoopi clips and mentions, but they know her and probably know that she would be deeply touched in a positive way by them doing it and might give her a smile during this difficult time. I also think it is cool that the show has not mentioned the exact circumstances of her absence (at least not when I watched today) and may be waiting for an ok from her to do so or just let her do it when she gets back. I'm sure friends of hers are privately and sincerely expressing their condolences to her. Meanwhile, Sherri S. used the situation for her own publicity by sending her condolences to Whoppi via Twitter! Unbelievable!

Couldn't they just send a card?   I mean there are a few million other people to think about here, lol.  I'm sorry for her loss but they didn't even do anything like this when Babs was out with her open heart surgery!

The weeks when Whoopi  was out for her back "thing"  were some of the best shows this season.   And I don't remember them needing to do a daily Whoopi tribute then although they did give her a throne when she came back.

I am the first to admit that I'm approaching old fart-dom, and there are things about the younger generations that I don't get, but how in the hell can Raven look in the mirror and think her hair and makeup look good? And it's not just Raven. Kelly Osborne and the shaved sides, purple hair is, IMHO, not attractive. Actually, I'm not a fan of the whole pastel hair look on anyone over the age of 10. And today, Raven with the blue-green lipstick? Whenever she's on the screen, all I can think of is Dawn of the Living Dead. I just wonder what kind of hair stylist can come up with a do that so totally off the beam?

Raven's look really hasn't bothered me until she moved over to Whoopi's chair. That angle for some reason is just very unflattering and yesterday her hair was just a flyaway, frizzy mess. And Rosie's carefully plastered, sculpted-to-hide-her-forehead hair is just getting worse.

Haven't seen today's show yet. Don't know if I'll bother.

Edited because I just realized that I use the word "just" too much. I just can't help it, I guess.

I'm probably older than KLovestoShop, but I enjoy the wacky styles kids these days can carry off.   For me, it's fun to see Raven's new look every day.  I wouldn't let age stop me, but I'm extremely overweight and can't see a "good look" that would work for me.  Additionally, I'd have to have a huge budget for hair stylists and wardrobe.  I'll be content to see the new documentary "Iris," and wish it were me. (wish it were I?)   Born in 1940 and having a birthday soon!

That was one weird edit jumping from Nicolle saying Obama's criticism of Fox was "beneath" him to Raven talking about baby names. My guess would be that Joy or maybe even Rosie shot back at Nicolle and that part was cut out.

^I agree. That one and there was another edit I forget that made me realize this must've been pre-recorded.

I actually didn't mind the show too much--taking Whoopi out makes even Nicolle a little more bearable. I had to laugh when Joy brought up those numbers about media lies, mostly for Nicolle's bug eyes. Too bad hot topics didn't last longer. Whoever the guest blonde was seemed nice enough. I've just never been a fan of TV people who are fake and insincere with everything they say. I know she was just trying to promote the guests and keep the conversations moving, not being insincere to promote herself like Star or Elisabeth, but if you can't be genuine you're not really made for this.

Is it just me or does Rosie Perez look a lot less healthy than when this season started? Maybe it was the hair, but she looks stressed out. I'm hoping she gets out of this show after the season's over for her own sake, even though she bothers me the least of the three permanent co-hosts.

Nothing was cut out.... it was just a strange transition.... probably from the people talking in her ear.... as we know the Republican gets the last word

I just realized that today is Friday.... so you are probably right.... the editor was probably pretty busy

A thought for you Former Nun see if there is a beauty school near you.... when I lived in Columbus I went to a beauty school for hair cuts.... only cost me $5..... I bet they do a lot with color now.... try all kinds.... maybe even a rainbow look

RogerfromOhio...I have a best friend who is a retired hairdresser...very successful.  In fact, she just bought 40+acres in a southern AZ town and plans to grow wine grapes in her little vacation town.  She's 70+!  She'd do any color I want whenever I want.  It's just that it's not easy to fade out, grow out.  I feel I need the wnole look...not just the hair.  It would be a chore.  Still...one never knows.  Thanks for the idea!

I truly do not understand this "no Whoopi free day" pledge. Is the theory that the more we see of Whoopi via old movie clips, etc. the more we'll like her? For me it just points out the huge contrast between Whoopi the actor and Whoopi the talk show host. She was good on occasion as the former; she's not so good as the latter.

Oh, yeah, I forgot this show is always taped for Fridays.

Did anyone else find the interview between the guest blonde, Joy, and the diet promoters hilarious? I guess Joy was a little rude, but she did say what I was thinking---"No milk?!??!"

Ha!  I was thinking the woman diet promoter was wearing Rosie Perez's wig.

I don't think that strange seque to another topic was an edit yesterday - I think she just decided to ask the next question on her card regardless of what was being said already. Someone is going to have to help her learn interviewing skills or it's not going to work

This makes her sound perfect for this crapfest!  After all,  Whoopi has been moderator for seven years and still can't do it well.

What did President Obama say this time to ruffle Nicolle's feathers? And why on earth would it be beneath him to criticize a 24/7/365 shit-stirring, national conservative propaganda machine? Surely even Nicolle, a highly privileged UC Berkeley grad, knows FOX's core audience buys the dangerous crap it peddles and recognizes the damage this crap has caused to our country here and abroad.
