evilmindatwork May 1, 2015 Share May 1, 2015 Farrah seems to be the favored child in that family as well. I never hear any mention of Ashley or her baby. At least she seems to have escaped the madness because of Farrah's fame(or infamy). I think Farrah realizes that her parents are terrible, but at the same time she likes the convenience of living in their (pre-Austin), and having built in baby-sitters (she still doesn't seem to have nanny/day-care).. Tatum May 1, 2015 Share May 1, 2015 Ashley's Round Up is Farrah's sister's site. Are you sure? I did some research on this and the writer of the blog is Ashley Majeski, who said she got her start blogging for fun about the Bachelor and then decided to expand after some Teen Mom comments she made generated a lot of hits, and then she writes articles for some other publications regarding reality TV. Also, there is a picture of her on one of the websites and she doesn't look anything like Ashley, Farrah's sister that we've seen on the show. And when she mentions Farrah's sister, she refers to her as Farrah's sister, not "me" . Also, her own website says she has covered the nightlife and television industries for over 10 years. I think Farrah's sister is 27 now. I guess she could have been 17 when she started but I think it's two different people. 2 Link to comment

lezlers May 1, 2015 Share May 1, 2015 (edited) Didn't Farrah earn her associates? And I thought (but could truly be wrong) Maci was working on a bachelors, not associates. If Maci hasn't even earned her Associates yet, that would be REALLY pathetic. It's only supposed to take you two years to do that and she's been going to school for more than 6! It took me 6 years to get my BA instead of 4, but I was working full-time and putting myself through school (at times working multiple jobs.) Maci is one of the laziest people (other than Amber) I think I've ever witnessed on one of these franchises. Probably because she's putting all of her efforts in trapping a man so she can give up on the whole school charade and stay home. Christ, if you want to stay home then just STAY HOME, but quit trying to make people believe you're honestly trying to get an education. Gah that girl bugs.I also agree that she's not pissed Farrah did porn, she's pissed because she plain doesn't like her and princess is used to getting what she wants. And Amber. Oh, Amber. It's like she's going down the list and TRYING to do everything a recovering addict is not supposed to do. 1. Don't go to meetings. 2. Don't get any counseling. 3. Don't get a job. 4. Start a serious relationship with another recovering addict. Come on, girl. You're trying to stay sober as hard as Maci is trying to graduate college. Edited May 1, 2015 by lezlers 8 Link to comment

MyPeopleAreNordic May 1, 2015 Share May 1, 2015 I have a family member who is an alcoholic who has been sober for years. Turns out, family member is what you'd call a "dry drunk": A condition of returning to one's old alcoholic thinking and behavior without actually having taken a drink. I think Amber is doing a LOT better this season so far, but I think in many ways she's whatever the equivalent narcotic term is for "dry drunk." I like what we've seen of sober Amber and I'm proud of her so far for a lot of changes she has made. But there are still some more changes to make. I understand if she doesn't want to go to Narcotics Anonymous, but there are other treatments out there and at a minimum, she should be going to individual counseling sessions. Link to comment

I feel bad for her because it's entirely possible the whole "chant and pray and pretend we're not religious" NA type approach may not work for her, but I wonder how many options she has where she is - plus she's right, it's not going to be anonymous, especially in a small area. Most other types of support groups seem to be mostly in larger cities. It seems she should be able to find at least individual counseling that would work for her though. JocelynCavanaugh May 2, 2015 Share May 2, 2015 If Maci is doing the program I think she is, it's 60 hours, or 4 full semesters: http://catalog.chattanoogastate.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=13&poid=1943 It's an Associate of Applied Science rather than a basic AA, so I can see how it would funnel into an existing program at the state university. While 6+ years is a bit excessive, I teach community college and I can assure you that 3-4 years is far more common, if people complete the degree at all. Most students have to work, care for families, and take developmental classes that don't count toward the degree. It's also rare for anyone to complete 15 hours per semester. 12 counts as full time for financial aid, athletics, etc., so many students just do that. Community college is a great resource, but it's not a magic 2-year, knock-it-out kind of thing for type of person who usually goes there. Clearly Maci isn't super focused, but she's not really a disaster just yet, either. 3 Link to comment

FozzyBear May 2, 2015 Share May 2, 2015 I think it might just be the porn. I don't think Maci is exactly a feminist scholar despite her women's study class. I can see her not being that bothered by guys watching porn or going to a strip club or something similar. I'm sure she doesn't like it, but she probably has a "boys will be boys" attitude. On the other hand, I'm also sure she think girls who get involved with sex work are dirty whores who are disgusting and deserve what they get. In fact I doubt it even occurs to her that people like Farrah wouldn't do porn if people like Ryan weren't willing to pay for it. At the end of the day Maci is pretty basic. Give her some Ugg boots, a pumpkin spice latte, and a sense of moral superiority and she's a happy girl. 8 Link to comment

Clearly Maci isn't super focused, but she's not really a disaster just yet, either. AAS degrees are not transfer degrees, so if a person graduates with an AAS degree, they would need to take additional classes to be able to enter a university at junior-level status. Regular AA degrees that are transfer degrees consist of the lower-level courses necessary to be at junior-level status when transferring. If a person won't be continuing on to a university after a 2-year degree, an AAS degree is more valuable in the job market in my opinion, as those degrees consist of more of the core classes of a particular major, instead of just the classes to fulfill the basic freshman and sophomore requirements while leaving most of the core classes to be taken at a university. It took me 4 years to get an AAS degree, but that was my choice. I was in no hurry. I took 1-2 classes each quarter. I have read a few articles that mention that Maci is working full-time as a social media specialist. Not sure how reliable that info is, but with a job, a TV show, and a kid, going to school very part-time is understandable, in my opinion. 1 Link to comment

I mean, she had to miss class for that!Funny, in a very early S1 episode of Teen Mom, Maci drops her classes (in what I think was her first semester, prob spring 2009) because she said she had fallen too far behind. That *might* have been legit. Ryan was out of town for weeks on end, and Bentley would have been only about 6 months old. He wasn't in daycare then, and adjusting to college courses vs high school while figuring out how to take care of a newborn might have been challenging for anyone. Anyways, Ryan was pretty cruel, telling her she was lazy as fuck and that she would NEVER finish. While Ryan really isn't one to throw stones, Maci hasn't exactly proved him wrong in the 6 years that have followed. And yes, there's a huge difference between it taking 3-4 years to get a 2 year degree when you're working full time (probably at minimum wage or just above) and taking care of a child, vs it taking 6.5 (at last count, is she still graduating this month?) years, when your "job" consists of getting paid 6 figures to get manicures and go out to eat while being filmed, and you're leaving your kid with your parents for extended periods of time to bounce around the country). Look, school is not a priority for Maci. It probably hasn't been since the day she signed her first contract with Teen Mom. It's her own business, but I'm certainly not above mocking her for it. ETA- Maci has had her "marketing specialist" job for only about a year. She's not taking 6+ years because she's only taking one class at a time due to other commitments. She repeatedly has dropped classes midway through the semester then had to start over the next semester. She drops classes because she frequently skips them then can't keep up, so drops to avoid flunking. Edited May 2, 2015 by Tatum 3 Link to comment

She's got way more going on the attractiveness and personality departments than anyone related to Farrah could ever have (in my opinion)! She's a wonderful person. There is NO excuse for still not finishing a 2 year program over 6 years later. *Raises hand.* It took me almost 12 years to get my bachelors degree, and about 8 of those years were spent in community colleges before transferring to a 4-year university. I was working full-time for all of those years in a very stressful field that often demanded overtime work. I usually took two classes per semester, but there were a couple of semesters where my employer asked me not to attend school, and I also changed majors (twice!), which resulted in me taking extra classes that I ultimately didn't need. Also, colleges often make transfer students take more classes in general than terminal AA/AS students in order to fulfill the transfer requirements. I feel like I kind of redeemed myself, because I went on to obtain a masters and am currently working on a PhD, all in "normative" time. Please know that not every "late bloomer" is lazy or without valid reasons to prolong their educations! In my case, I also just really enjoy being a student, and the time element didn't matter so much. I always said I'd make a professional career out of being a student if I could...and now I finally am (since my program essentially pays me to be a grad student)! That said, Maci may indeed be genuinely lazy, but I also know that there are many good reasons for people to spend many years in community college. And I didn't even have to go through the remedial or other preparatory classes that many other students have to complete. 2 Link to comment

Sophia will know her mom did porn but Bently will see how his mother and father pimped him out as well. And wasn't Maci supposed to get her own show? I read the kids are getting noticed in the streets. They don't even understand why they're getting noticed. Then we have parents at school watching this train wreck. So yeah, no excuse other than laziness. Agreed. I do think that there can be legitimate reasons why it would take someone a long time to get a 2-year degree, but none apply to Maci as far as I can see. She's simply lazy, and it's clear that school is in no way a priority for her. Now, it's her life and her money, so if she wants to be at her community college for 10 years, them that's her business. However, I'm not gonna play into little narrative that she's just a hardworking young mother who just trying her hardest to balance everything to go to school and get her degree. I knew people in undergrad who were just there to have a good time and didn't give a shit about school, frequently dropping and/or failing, and they didn't care because graduating really was no big deal. Simply being enrolled doesn't automatically get you a pat on the back. From what I can see, Maci has plenty of support and hasn't finished her degree because she doesn't give a damn. I totally agree with the belief that she's only in school because she's "supposed" to be and that she wants to be a stay at home mom. Maybe in her mind, if she gets done with school and still doesn't have a ring on her finger, she may have to gasp.....get a real job, because she the "good one" from Teen Mom (again what she probably believes), and once she's done with school, then she "supposed" to get a real job. Let me just also say that I laughed when Taylor was going on about her "message". Honey...stop and have a seat. You're knocked up by a second man and admitted that you were not using any sort of protection. Please explain what message you have to give to any young girls. Again, if she wants a baby with Taylor, fine, its her life and she can afford it, but she needs to get off of her high horse and stop judging other people. I don't consider Farrah a role model by any means, but Maci's sure as hell isn't one either. I also agree that there is something wrong with the Abraham family. Every single one of them seems to have problems. As already stated, Farrah has been a selfish, disrespectful bitch since 16&Pregnant, and from what we've seen, her sister is a piece of work as well. Michael has always come off like a meek little pushover, but Debra is really the one who confuses me. The others are at least consistent, but Debra came off like a stone cold woman early on. I remember on 16&P, she was the main one telling Farrah to cut ties with Sophia's dad, and I remember in that episode, her coldly telling Farrah that she needs her rest and will not be helping her or something like that (which I had no problem with). Along the way however, she became this weepy woman who is in babytalk mode all of the time, and who is now apparently addicted to plastic surgery. It's bizarre. 7 Link to comment

If she put as much effort into school as she puts in to roping a man, she would've been finished years ago. AGREE! Not to mention she doesn't even have Bentley with her full-time. She shares him with Ryan and his parents. Plenty of parents have attended school full-time/part-time and still worked at a job while tending to children. Maci is a lazy turd. plus she's right, it's not going to be anonymous, especially in a small area. I think it is an excuse for Amber. I find her lazy as hell, too. She has put her dirty laundry out there for all to see, including her drug issues. She wrote a book on it, for God's sake and her interviews with Dr. Drew and Dr. Phil have been about her addiction issues. She had cameras follow her during her rehab stint and she did an interview from prison. To want to seek anonymity now seems pointless especially since she signed up for this season. I actually think it is pretty obvious to me. Back then, Farrah didn't have the means to call the shots. She lived at her mother's rental home. She didn't have the kind of money then, that she does now that allows her to move all over the place. She has likely threatened her parents with taking Sophia away from them and never allowing them access to their grandchild. Farrah is in the driver's seat now except, she still needs them by her side because apparently no one else wants the job of caring for Sophia because it means having to deal with Farrah. 2 Link to comment
lexiexx May 4, 2015 Share May 4, 2015 Re: the bold - ironically, so do all the other Teen Moms. They just aren't showing the whole conception part. Agreed. I think Maci is an asshole for judging Farrah just because she uses sex to get what she wants too. Farrah has sex on film because she wants money. Maci has sex because she wants to land a man and has been wanting a sibling for Bentley for years now. Maci hasn't done porn but she has given speeches about how she had unprotected sex, moved 2 different guys into Bentley's home, etc. Personally I find that trashy and it's ridiculous that she has an issue with Bentley being on the show with Farrah when she had no problem with Bentley being on the show when Amber was beating Gary's ass and a convicted felon like Butch was on there too. 8 Link to comment

Exactly knocked up with another baby with no stability. While preaching about safe sex. No job, no education and she better count her lucky stars she has in laws that care. So why judge Farrah for doing porn. Many parents do porn. I might agree with it, but that's their business. Maci just wants drama. 2 Link to comment
UmmHello May 4, 2015 Share May 4, 2015 (edited) ETA- Maci has had her "marketing specialist" job for only about a year. She's not taking 6+ years because she's only taking one class at a time due to other commitments. She repeatedly has dropped classes midway through the semester then had to start over the next semester. She drops classes because she frequently skips them then can't keep up, so drops to avoid flunking. I don't think she could have been dropping as many classes as you're saying she did. At the college I attended in NC if you waited until the middle of the semester, you were limited to dropping only 5 courses for your entire college career. Now if it was the first week or so of the semester you could change your schedule all you wanted. I still believe she is working on a Bachelors. On her Instagram she is pictured in numerous Tennesee Volunteers (Univeristy of TN) clothing and memoriabilia. Yes it's entirely plausible that she and her boyfriend are just fans, but why would she not go there? We all know she can afford it. She was wearing a Volunteers shirt a couple episodes back as well. Most if not all university do not offer associates. As concerned as she is with class and being better than others, I don't think she would settle for community college when there's a great university to go to that she is already a fan of. And yes it is absolutely ridiculous and unbelievable that under her circumstances it would take her 6+ years to complete an associates. That's why I believe it's a Bachelors. Maharincess May 4, 2015 Share May 4, 2015 (edited) In regards to Amber and anonymity, I still attend meetings on occasion. My town has a music venue here and there is a big, big music person who goes to my meetings every time they are in town. Nobody talks about this person. When this person comes to play here people aren't lined up to hopefully see them at a meeting. This person is major, major and has been for a few decades. When they attend meetings I've been to, they are treated like everybody else. This person gets up and shares and nobody bats an eye. Amber is full of it. Her own LinkedIn account references Chattanooga State Community College and an AA. Granted it could be a fake account but there's nothing else official that lists a 4 year university, and I don't think she's ever named one that she was currently attending. Link to comment
lezlers May 5, 2015 Share May 5, 2015 I'm sure if she were pursuing a BA at a 4 year college she would've mentioned it somewhere, since she gets a lot of negative comments regarding the amount of time it's taking her to get a piddly AA. Link to comment
