Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Hence, it's why they could afford to fly out to California for the wedding and run out and purchase clothing for their children rather than pack the right stuff.  Their lifestyle is not cheap.

Things actual low income families aren’t able to do.

True, but that is kinda what Carlin described, that she fell to the floor unconscious and was lying on the floor shaking for half an hour.  She seemed to be describing a tonic-clonic type generalized seizure, not something focal.

Exactly.

Now I wonder if any of these types of MLM people keep track of the hours involved and figuring what they make, per hour?  If the top average is 37 grand yearly, what would be their average hourly earning rate?  Somehow I think that they have to put in over 40 hours a week bothering their downline and inundating any family or friends with sales pitches.  I know it wouldn't be worth it to me.

Jilldo probably tells her "team" that Jesus loves it when they line her (Jill's) pockets with money.  I also think she spends not a dime of "her" earnings on those underfed kids of hers.  Selfish to the (rotten) core.  It's all about "dates" with that slug of a husband.

Sad.

And there’s a HUGE difference between gross and actual income when self employed.

I imagine someone like Jill has enough deductions to offset most of the tax burden from her Plexus money. The Bates and Duggar influencers? Not so much.

JRod is on SM bragging that people are constantly asking her how to raise godly children.  It’s a nonstop ego stroke with that holier-than-thou witch.

Since she doesn’t allow comments on many of her accounts, I doubt she gets a lot of questions.

I'm thinking JillR doesn't make enough from Plexus to even claim it. I wonder if we'll see her slowly peter out and stop selling it soon. She seems to be nearing that point of realization after the initial flurry of hope when Plexus was still courting her and she was still able to con others into selling it. There's also no stimulus checks coming in where she can lie to herself and David pretending her Plexus income was actually more than it is.

Janelle from Sister Wives seems to have come into selling Plexus after a sister wife and her daughter but surpassed them in sales and downlines. If JillR is keeping an eye on on folks like Janelle it could be another reason to quit.

I wonder, if and when Jill does quit selling Plexus, if she'll rant and rave about how unGodly they are.

Chad and Erin are moving to Florida!  They’ve got a new YT video and just announced it.  I wonder if he’s going to be working with Alyssa’s husband?

This is crazy. I think Chad's grandfather lives there. Maybe they will support him and... I know it sounds harsh, but then move into his home?

This is like the equivalent of Jessa moving - just never thought it would happen.

Nothing wrong with that.   If they are going to be taking care of the grandfather, why wouldn't they move in with him.   It's a common family arrangement, even in non-fundie circles.   And if he leaves them the house when he dies, so what?   They were the ones who moved in and helped care for him.

Now, if they move in, shove him out and put him in a nursing home to be forgotten (it's the forgotten part that is the problem, not the nursing home) then that is a problem.   But otherwise, if he has the room, why shouldn't a growing family live with  him instead of in whatever cramped hovel they can barely afford they are in now?

Yea, you're right. In my head it was much harsher.

Chad's grandfather lives in a 55+ retirement community. His parents are selling their home, so I figure they are the ones moving in with Grampy. Maybe Chad has been hired as a handyman for the community? But that doesn't solve where they will actually live.

I'm sorry, I did not mean to offend.  My remarks were intended specifically to Carlin and her situation and my impression of her based on what I've seen on TV and social media.  She seems to be a very high strung (my mom loved that phrase) person who tends to be easily unnerved.  She also seems to be someone who enjoys being the center of attention.  There is no doubt that there is a mind-body connection in all illnesses and some people are simply wired to cope while others are not.  Carlin does not seem to me to have very good coping skills in general and I think she is therefore likely to jump to the worst case scenario, panic, and go to the ER in situations where others would not.  That doesn't mean something isn't wrong with her.  It does, however, mean that she is perhaps going to have a longer path to getting the help she needs as it seems pretty clear that whatever is going on with her is outside of the ER's purview.  This is why people need a regular personal physician, IMO, someone who can guide them, who knows them, who can help them get appointments with specialists in more timely fashion.  Carlin also needs to stop putting all this stuff up on social media because it seems that the comments she gets are only going to fuel her anxiety about the whole thing which will only exacerbate the problems she is having.

I don't have a problem with Carlin's speculation that she might be having seizures.  She's not a medical person and it seems like, when she has her episodes, she does some things that might indicate a seizure.  Since the ER hasn't kept her and she hasn't been placed on anti-seizure meds, I think the ER staff doesn't think that that's what'shappening here.

I used to have seizures following a head injury and did have to go via ambulance several times to the ER, prior to my diagnosis.  Even if she was given anti-seizure meds in the ambulance, she would be so exhausted (post-ictal stage) from the seizures and from the meds (they all have a sedating effect) that she would not look that good at any point during her ER stay.  If these were actual seizures, the ER staff would have absolutely retained her in the hospital to try to get to the bottom of what was going on.  Something just doesn't add up

Hmm, I wonder who built and/or owns the community? Maybe they'll allow Erin's crew to live there in exchange for care taking duties.

The community is run by some Christian organization that Gramps chaired for six years (I named it in the Chad/Erin thread). It consists of homes, apartments, and mobile homes, so it sounds like a rather sizable place.

eta It's the Wesleyan Bible Conference Association.

How would she have time to do that as well as homeschool her many kids and everything else?

I wonder if BME begs money for gas in parking lots or at the gas station.  I can picture the stink bus taking up room at the pump with people waiting, while she goes car to car asking for gas money.  Or maybe they start singing at the gas station.  That might work.

If Carlin's further tests with specialists don't show anything is wrong...perhaps she's having anxiety attacks. I suffered with them for 2 years some time ago....you can feel faint, heart palpitations, etc. Nothing showed up for me on tests...I had to do some real "self-healing" and have a good talk with myself; ween off tranquilizers and concentrate to live in the moment. She has had a lot of changes recently....a business, birth of children, new house, travel, etc...not enough real rest perhaps...maybe this is what's happening to her. (Not a doctor, just experienced a similar situation myself.) I hope they figure out what it is soon.

Sadly based on the Mimi post I think they are.   After all, Nurie can't go through her pregnancy without her precious mamma by her side.   Or else, you know, Nurie might be some attention that Jill believes is rightfully hers.

I'm going to slightly play devil's advocate here (are there any speech pathologists here who could weigh in?), but babbling is not that unusual in a 7-month-old (e.g., baba, mama, dada, any type of consonant/vowel combinations). I don't think he is communicating with any purposeful intention, but it's not far-fetched that he may be uttering those sounds. Of course, narcissistic Jill thinks that he has all the intention in the world and that it is directed to HER.

Nurie is due in 5-6 months? Definitely time to visit now and take what $ they got saved for mommy and popsy! Mommy and popsy are very hungry and need new stuff.

Yes, it's time for Jill to raid Nurthan's bank account. Poor MeMe and PooPoo haven't had a restaurant dinner date in months, and there are still some spaces in the upstairs attic addition that lack plastic flowers. Oh, Phillip needs a car and college money too. He's not getting paid to help print and box all those stupid smiley tracts.

Maybe they should have left Philip at home to try and find a job. You know, so that he can make a little bit of money to use for school/transportation. Did Timothy go with them on the road?

Is Phillip on this trip? I thought Jill announced he was leaving the singing tours because of college. Maybe the touring break doesn't start until he shows up to campus broke, and reality kicks in. Books??? Fees??? Lunch??? Gas??? Nobody told us about that stuff!!!

I think TimBits did something really bad to piss BME off. He hasn’t been featured in any of the circus videos lately.

Knowing Jill, Tim's transgression likely involved not honoring her properly on Mother's Day. She loves those cards and gifts, which had better be expensive and on time.

No need to work and save a bit before starting school, I guess. Easier to beg for handouts.

I know why is Phillip not working some summer job -- even if its the local convenience store or McDonald's?

So Jill can trot him out at "speaking engagements" and grift money for a car and tuition -- which she will keep for herself?

Could be,  but, he's a little young for 'm' sounds anyway.  Jill decided before he was born that he would call her 'Mimi' and not granny or grandma or meemaw; and I am sure she reinforces that dictate by repeatedly referring to herself in the third person by that name.  I doubt the kid actually calls her anything at this point, just inwardly cringes when he sees her scary face.  Imagine being a tiny kid and having all those teeth and a bug eyed raccoon eyed screecher up in your face all the time

On a lighter note, he is a cute little guy.  Too bad about his Mimi.

I think panic/anxiety attacks are probably on the list of possible diagnoses for Carlin's episodes; at least the doctor's list, probably not Carlin's.

Also, children learn what they live.  Phillip has no example as to what people do when they need money other than that of his parents:  go to churches to preach, sing and beg for money.  A car for him isn't the first one Jill has essentially expected to be given to them for nothing; it's worked before, actually worked on multiple occasions.  It probably didn't even occur to Phillip to find a real job because his parents don't have them, Tim's work history is spotty at best and they've been pretty lucky with begging for freebies over the last decade or so.  Work?  Who needs it?  Not the Rodriguii.

If Philly went to work at McDonald’s he might encounter women exposing their knees! Or have a woman boss! He would be SEVERELY traumatized. He probably wouldn’t be able to preach the right Bible to random customers either. There are a lot of reasons why the Rodlets can’t work at regular jobs but the main one is crazy parents.
