Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Didn't she also post some story about giving an Amish neighbor a ride to the hospital?  It seems like maybe the neighbor was pregnant and miscarried??  Or something like that.

It was during a snowstorm and the roads were impassable, according to Jill. The neighbor was in labor and having trouble. David and the boys shoveled and David drove the woman out, but apparently they met the ambulance so didn't go very far.

Jill's dramatic telling of the story is a little suspect, however, and it's not one she repeats. Jill said the snow was too deep for emergency services to get through but somehow David, in whatever junker he was driving, could. Also, Jill didn't go. I wonder why she would let David take a woman to the hospital alone or with the boys if she wasn't planted firmly in the car. Was David going to deliver a baby?

Maybe ordering her sons shovel their driveway for a while was the extent of Jill's help.

Kaylee cannot even write proper sentences. Poor child is so undereducated it’s painful. Gideon is going to be homeschooled by someone who is even less legible than his granny Jill.

And Samuel can’t even speak properly. Educational neglect should be illegal. 😢

I agree. Education is a human right. Underfunded, overcrowded public schools, poorly run private schools, and homeschools with little or no oversight all make me furious. Ahem, Jill Rodrigues. You have my attention.

What is with the family ‘outings’ at shops, that is just strange

Homeschooling in my Australian state is more monitored than it seems to be where Jill lives. You need to register and show a learning plan that covers 8 key learning areas. Then submit reports to show progress

I would love to see Jill’s learning plans and reports

there are none or if there are, they are all made up. As long as those kids can read the Bible (KJV), that is all they need. And even then, I doubt they can read it very well.

And they are clueless as to what they are reading, they only know what DBD and BME drill into them about god.

I always hear Spirit referred to as "the Greyhound of the skies... but louder."

I've flown it a few times, I've never witnessed anything like I've seen posted to social media.  A few angry people, only one passenger escorted off the plane, but nothing TOO wild.

I haven't flown in years. The last time I did, people were still behaving themselves.

Not a traveler, here...what is Spirit Airlines known for?  It can't be good?

Spirit Airlines is a no frills budget airline that packs people on like sardines ( smallest most uncomfortable airplane seats ever), either doesn’t serve a beverage or charges you for it and charges you both for checked and carry on bags.  In addition, the fees add up so that you don’t really save any money by using them instead of a normal carrier.

Mr. Six had a connecting flight with Spirit, and he still talks about how bad it was.  The entire flight was an ad for their credit card with a right-off-the-bat interest rate of 26.99%.  He's also 6'2" and came off the plane 3'1" because he was folded in half.  Needless to say, when he travels now, we avoid Spirit 😜

On topic-I don't know how, but Jill continues to amaze me with her shit.  She is forcing Janessa into the "baby" role, and it's getting old.  None of these kids have a chance in life.  But, on an upside, I thought Renee's shirt has 'Bitch' on it instead of Fitch...not that she has a clue as to what that even refers to.

I would love to be a fly on the wall for conversations between Nurie and Kaylee. Do they passive-aggressively point out evidence that Mahmo likes them best, or is it more of "Look, I did the Christmas tree farm, you'd better be taking her to the Nice Olive Garden so she gets off our backs about it"?

I’d like to imagine they talk shi* about her, but, honestly, I don’t know if these two have brain cells capable of rational thinking about their mother. I believe that they believe that she is the most wonderful thing in the world besides God.

Yeah, I think you're probably right, but I also wonder if there is a lot of posturing over who Mahmo loves best in that case ie. "Well I'm part of Mahmo's amazing business," "Well I'm pregnant,"

Generally it is strange. But Cabela's is a big sporting goods chain, and its larger stores are set up so that visiting is more of an "experience" than just a shopping stop. The one in our area has, IIRC, a "natural outdoor habitat" area indoors. It's been a few years since I visited when out of town cousins wanted to see it, but I remember there was a small food court as well as displays, etc. I think Cabela's has slimmed down some of that for newer stores but TBH the store I visited would be fun for kids, or people interested in outdoor activities. If you search for images of the interiors of Cabela's stores you may get a flavor of it.

Jill hauling the kids to Cabela's is def much better than sending them floating down filthy drainage ditches. I'm glad there's a thousand or more miles between me and the Rods' home stomping grounds. I wouldn't want to be in the store when that crew rolls in.

I think all of the Rod offspring are too brainwashed to ever say a negative word about BME.

They've been pitted against one another practically from birth. I'll never forget Kaylee's Kick Me sign that Jill laughingly filmed.

Yep. Divide and conquer is a tried and true power move. Evil Queen has figured it out.

I suppose on a deeper level, Jill's massive insecurities and her need for attention and control battle it out not only in her mind but also in her relationships. The kids are less warriors for God and more game pieces on a board in Jill's warped mind.

I grew up in a somewhat similar situation, although not nearly as bad. Once I left home, I could see what was going on. I had an education and some spunk, however, unlike the poor, beaten-down Rodlets.

Well I get my own chicken leg now! Tee hee

The way Kaylee writes it’s obvious no way she thinks badly about Mahmo and she joined plexus under MAHMO’s direction

So mahmos kids are under her thumb/control even after marriage

I'm sure since Nurie and Kaylee have probably been pitted against each other all their lives, they probably very passive aggressively play, "oh look, I pleased BME today!"  causing the other one to do something to win back the affection (like join BMEs downline, get pregnant,  start a fb page to shill). You get the idea?

I wonder why Jill hasn't just graduated Samuel and ordered Dave to print a diploma.

Is Sam being rebellious by refusing to finish the fifth-grade arithmetic worksheet that Jill gave him last winter?

Defiance can come in many small ways in prisons and in the Rodrigues household.

Just curious.

Watch the video of Rod boy playing with Giddy. As soon as Jill shows up poor Giddys eyes start to bug out like the Keller boys. Jill terrifies her grandsons. What does she do to them??? (On Kaylees page)

I bet she does the same screechy look at me schtick she pulls with her children. I went to church with a lady like that who would aggressively tickle babies and little kids until they cried and then gaslight their parents into believing it was the kids' fault for not being "tough" enough to play with Grandma LastName. I can see Jill doing the same thing to her grandbabies.

I wonder if she's going to graduate Gabriel and Sammer together this spring, or if everyone has been pushed back a year? Remember, they got in trouble for cheating with 3 of the kids a couple years back. I'm sorry, but based on Sam's speaking, both at the pulpit and in general, I don't think he's that bright. Jill might have tried to advance him, and the oversight, such as it is in Ohio, caught him cheating and flunked him.

I think with angling for the cruise and the Nashville trip along with everything else she just forgot to "graduate" him.

I dunno. They managed to "graduate" Phi!lip on the same day that Nurie had a taco gender reveal. Jill was front and center, giving speeches at both events (held at the church).

There is no required testing for homeschool graduation in Ohio, so Jill is allowed to decide if he graduates or not.

Surely, she can't think that another year of non-schooling is going to make any difference in his literacy skills. She must have another reason for not letting him graduate. Maybe she's too busy with Plexus to buy some Twinkies to stack for a graduation cake, and Sam doesn't have enough money to make it worth Jill's time to do the required graduation trip with Jill, David, and a friend to some nearby tourist trap with restaurants and gift shops Jill likes.

I was more referring to the cheating that was caught by whatever oversight exists in Ohio. Since then, Jill hasn't announced the grades of the kids like she used to. I'm certain that's because 3 kids had to repeat a grade.

With the new (lack of) requirements in Ohio starting with the 2023-2024 school year, she may just have decided to wait to reduce her (tiny) workload.  Number of academic hours and subjects were reduced, and no more assessments to cheat on.  Also they now no longer need to file the excused letter from the district for the Sr year to issue a diploma, so if Jill had lost the paperwork in her Plexus fueled haze (or whichever daughter was in charge of it was courting/marrying/having a baby), well starting this year she doesn't have to keep her crap organized.

I don't think she can multitask quite as well now. Even by Jill standards, she's seemed unusually unhinged lately.

The RV has broke down pretty regularly on or before every trip for what a year now? Day they need to leave for a christmas grift tour, they happen to find 2 "major things" not working. So maybe precheck that "worn to the bones rv" leading up to a trip. (my guess is one was that water pump hunk and the boys worked so diligently to fix a while back and the other was one of the 2 maps in the RV died so dave couldn't laze around and watch.

Also have we ever seen anyone but dave drive the rv? If he is so exhausted from all that fixing, they have 6 people of driving age. Maybe Sammer man or Gabe could take a turn driving.

"my opinion of my husband raises even a notch higher" doesn't she already place as the best husband anyone woman could ever have quite frequently??
