Thank you for being a friend.
I converted the show request into the Small Talk thread for the show. Please feel free to start threads for characters, episodes, etc.!
If you (collectively) would like to change the name of the Small Talk thread jokey bit just figure it out amongst yourselves and then email email@example.com and he'll change it.
So excited to have the forum to talk about all of Blanche's one-night stands, Rose's St. Olaf stories, Sophia's one-liners, and Dorothy's ... hump. But while I wait for the rest of the TWoP gang to trickle on over, I'll be in my room, reenacting the gangplank scene from Peter Pan.
Would you like a hard candy or will you choke on it?
I'm excited to discuss the 3,547 continuity errors on this show. It's amazing that, as someone who can be often anal, those flaws are one of the most endearing things about the show. Cheesecake for everyone!
I'll be trying to figure out what 8 x 6 is. Can I use a pencil?
Thanks! I LOVE cheesecake! I've had it many times, but it was YEARS before I knew what made your eyes roll back in your head!
So glad there is the thread for the GG - Just have to say - "Not Lebanese Blanche - LESBIAN!"
Lesbian? Lesbian. Lesbian!!
Howdy, y'all. It's really good to see some familiar faces here!
I bet you all do undercover work, and I bet you do it damn well.
Go hug a landmine!
It's a dog eat dog world, and I ain't wearing any panties.
I helped Rose figure out which one was shinola.... the hard way. I'm so ashamed.
I brought some new toothbrushes for everyone. Half pink, half blue. Anyone in the mood to remove some plaque?
...as a former "bad girl' in a health film....
I think this is the perfect title for our Small Talk thread. (And I love that we can have "meet markets" for every show.) It's nice to see so many familiar names from the TWoP forum.
Moved several posts to the Quotes thread.
I think the bowling tournament was held in St. Olaf. Those names!
Super Golden Friends. I lauuuuughed....
Lol, Kariyaki! The animator did a great job capturing their personalities especially Sexy Superman!
Guys, in what way was Rose kin to an Astrid?
Ask and ye shall receive!
Actress Scarlett Johannsenn named her daughter Rose Dorothy. A lot of article comments refer to the GG. Also I discovered a singer named Ingrid Michaelson and can't read her name without thinking of Rose calling out to Ingrid on the St. Olaf trip.
If you get bored you can always cut the feet off your black and tan pantyhose and do a production of Amos n' Andy.
Wow, I suddenly like Scarlett Johannsenn!
Doug and Clayton can get married in my state today!
Wow where has this thread been all my life....woot.
I am totally dreading Hallmark's 24/7 crappy Xmas programming (OMG that shit is horrendous) so I have started to buy the GG DVDs on eBay. Getting good deals...all of mine have been brand new under like $10.
I might have to prepare for that myself, though I may arm myself with Netflix. OR tape the weekend goodies. Though I will have to fix my VCR. Yes, I said it, VCR.
Be proud! I still use my vcr too. No dvr for me.
Who are they to judge us?!!
I *wish* I still had my VCR!
I can't fathom the mindset of the person who's excited to watch Christmas made-for-tv-movies on HALLOWEEN. I know such people exist, I just don't understand them at all.
I am with you. It's as puzzling as how a smudge pot works.
Now that's something I do understand! (I think...) A smudge pot is a little fuel-burning pot that sits on the ground with a chimney, and the smoke that they put out prevents the trees from being damaged by frost. It could be different in Florida, though. I got this information from a friend who grew up on an orchard, so we're literally talking apples and oranges. And for all I know, those crazy Canadians might do it totally differently in Saskatchewan.
Then explain the thermus.
I lost my Sophia more than a year ago; does anyone have any shared experiences or anecdotes on how to make it through tomorrow?
Maherjunkie, sorry for your loss. I lost my dad a couple of years ago on Christmas Day, so Christmas is hard for me now. Try to surround yourself with loved ones and don't be ashamed to cry a little. It does get a little easier each year to remember the good times instead of feeling grief.
Thank you Camom, I got through it just fine.
Thank God the Hallmark 4,000 days of Christmas is over & my GGs are back on! Now I can resume my regularly schedule sad life. Lol.
I also thank Logo for getting us through. Gay men can save ya sometimes.
Since this is only sort of about the show, I'd like to say 'Happy Birthday!' to Betty, who turns ninety-three today.
Happy birthday, dear lady!
Everyone's seen the birthday flash mob, right? How cool is this?
I hadn't heard about that, so thanks for posting. How cute.
Golden Girls, specifically Dorothy, is part of the King of Disparate Things Mountain today! I voted for her.
The Men of Blanche's Boudoir is up in the King of Disparate Thing Mountain today. Go vote for GG! I did.
I <3 this:
What if she is a Sophia?
Hey everyone...vote for the "Condoms Rose! Condoms, Condoms, Condoms!" at todays's King of Deperate TV Things Mountain vote...
Is anyone else turned off by those constant pop ups advertising upcoming Hallmark shows that appear in the lower corner of the TV screen? I am! I find them annoying and distracting. Enough already!
Not part of the show, folks, not part of the show!
I was invited to a GG trivia night next week. Have to admit, I'm a little nervous. This is NYC trivia -- so many people who know everything and then it's gonna draw GG fans. The people who invited me know I like GG, but I haven't told them that I've been watching a couple hours a day for 20+ years (except when Hallmark goes 24/7 shitty Christmas movies. Fuck you Hallmark and all your "slut" loving execs who bleep "butt"...BUTT BUTT BUTT you double standard, "back end of a donkey" hypocrites.)
