In one of the press interviews, didn't Jensen say that while Jared said you couldn't please everyone, he himself couldn't imagine people having a problem with the ending?  Paraphrasing, here.

It's possible that reading the last scenes just made it really clear to him that the show was ending, and he hadn't anticipated feeling quite so bereft.  He said something about not understanding why he felt the way he did, which is why he called Eric and Bob.  Just speculating, obviously.

I think that's possible.  I'd honestly feel better if one of the people he called was Robbie Thompson.  Robbie cares more about fandom than any other writer I know.  If Robbie is cool with it, it'll be good.

They clearly went for "definitive end" and Jensen had been lobbying for a call-back option.  I think it's be JUST J2 for the final shot, shot on a separate day -- and they negotiated that extra day with them.  I think they'll be in the same boat (not one alive, one dead).  And I think they've come up with a retirement mechanism. I suppect they will echo back to being proud of what they've accomplished.

I'd love it if they got Robbie Thompson back, or got him to write one or two episodes for them. The Js like him a lot, so I think they'd like it too.

I also think/HOPE it's just J2 for the last scene, because IMO that's as it should be. I have thoughts what that last scene is, IF the brothers' finale goes one way I think it logically could (there's that sticky point - logic). I do hope they're in the "same boat" as it were - I think it would be very upsetting to a lot of viewers, not just fandom, if they weren't.

I can see a couple of scenarios Jensen probably wouldn't like. Doesn't necessarily mean they'd be bad scenarios in the grand scheme of things, depending on how the story plays out. But they probably wouldn't be what Jensen would want for Dean or maybe even the brothers.🤷‍♀️

I think it's completely the opposite - I think Jensen wanted a definitive, everyone dies ending and he got the boys stopping hunting for some reason and he was having trouble buying it.

I quoted the wrong quote - sorry.

No Jensen always wanted an option open enough for a possible movie or something like that.  So he didn't want a definitive ending.  Dead isn't dead on SPN so that wouldn't have necessarily been a closed ending.

Have not seen Bucklemming interviews but I read that Buckner spoke of romance in Season 15?

That would feed my theory of retired ending with Sam and Eileen. Maybe even Dean/Amara.

OR Cas somehow ends up with Meg.

We haven't had any sort of romance in literally years. To throw it at the end would seem very weird to me.

Maybe that is the thing Jensen had a problem with?

I agree and who would Dean end up with? Cindy Sampson ( Lisa ) is a lead on another show at the moment and when we last saw her all memory of Dean had been wiped. Though if they're going to bring back Eileen who was mauled by a hellhound I guess that it wouldn't be hard to do so with Lisa ( and Ben I assume ) but there's no guarantee that she would be available.

Which would go against Dabb's own canon since the last scene with Dean and Amara had the dialogue stating that she didn't even want Dean but was trying to get back at Chuck. Her intimacies with Dean were basically her trying to gain control pf him so I couldn't rationally see them as a couple even without factoring in that she's not even human. Which would also explain Jensen's problem with the ending if that's where it's headed.

Oh man, it's probably Jack. Not even kidding. He had that one stalker chick and given Blemming's love for those gross non con things, my money is now on Jack being the one who has a "romance"

I couldn't care less,  if that were the case.

But bringing "romance" back into it would be ludicrous to me for either of the brothers, much less both of them. I could see it a bit more for Sam, but for Dean, No.

Not unless a child of his own was involved, too-or maybe...possibly...Benny's great-grand daughter Elizabeth.

When you mentioned romance my thought was Dean's speech to Sam in Trial and Error.  About how he wanted Sam to get out of the business, have a family.  It was written by Dabb.

That's why I think it's Jack. I don't think J2(or M)would sign on for a romantic ending for any of them. And given that about the only thing BLemming seem to love more than Lucifer is Jack, and given he's part human and he hasn't had the sexy times yet, I see that being their version of romance.

Adam is already confirmed.

Benny, I don't want back for Dabb to ruin by making him anti-Dean in some way. I'm sure that is how ve will ruin Amara.

I don't know why Adam would even be an issue at this point beyond fanservice to answer "why is he still in the cage?!". He was introduced as their half brother for a millisecond and was actually Michael on screen for longer than he was actually Adam. *sigh*

I agree with your sentiments about Benny. I loved him as a character mostly because of his relationship with Dean and I can see Dabb making him lash out at Dean for killing him and ruining their canon friendship.

Adam is a Twitter and Tumblr obsession.

And as such, Dabb sees the character as a fandom obsession.

Go figure. 🙄

Ugh. What a waste of screentime and sadly par for the course with every season under Dabb.

I'd rather it be Jack than Dean.  Seriously, let Jack have the sucky boring out of place romance.  Leave Dean be.

Well, that would be cool. And a first.

We've seen other photos from the shoot and he's clean shaven, so this is probably old video, but it doesn't explain the 'damaged' face?!

Yeah, that's the part that makes it weird and confusing. Unless Jensen himself fell down that hard on that beautiful face while directing. If so, wow, talk about a guy that gives it his all!

Yep - looks like he made it out of the empty super fast.

How much you wanna bet it's a time jump between the finale and the premiere? I bet we get stuck with lame flashbacks to tell whatever story is coming.

Jack still wears the jacket he had during the last episodes of season 14, he went to the empty with this jacket. If there has been a time jump, wouldn‘t he had changed his clothes at some time?

Not sure how that would mean no time jump? The boys have been wearing the same clothes and jackets for years. Why wouldn't Jack?

Yes, they have been wearing the same style of clothes the whole time. But usually they don´t wear exactly the same shirt or jacket for several episodes in a row. We know that they are changing clothes sometimes.

Okay maybe Jack only has this one jacket now, because he hasn´t been in the bunker for weeks or month to get his other clothes. That would also make sense.

We´ll have to wait for october unfortunately.

I'm basing my thought on the other seasons wherein they have done time jumps between seasons i.e. S3 to s4 - 4 months, s5 to s6 -1year, s7 to s8 -1 year, s9 to s10 - 1 month, s13 to 14 - several weeks.

Singer said it picks up right where we left off.

On Jack: now that he’s powered fully, maybe he’ll stop changing clothes (like Cas). And definitely seems back in 15.1.

Singer also said they found a "fun" way of getting them out of the cliffhanger.

I hope that doesn't mean that they'll be zapped away at the last second and wind up somewhere "fun" with Jack.  Way to make cliffhangers meaningless.

I believe there is almost no chance this isn't what happens. Realistically, there is no way that two humans and one angel whose powers appear and disappear on a whim can survive that ending scene. So either Chuck intervenes, or Billie!Jack does, or some entity-to-be-named-later does - one way or another, only supernatural intervention could save them.

Yeah, I know it has to be supernatural intervention (though I'd kind of want at least a little battle first ☺️)

It was the "fun" way I objected to.
