Oh, I agree.  I wondered if that cinnamon twist she had going on in her hair was cutting off the flow of blood to all her organs today.

Chad was looking at her like he'd just realized he'd woken up to find himself in a relationship with a Chatty Cathy doll who'd had her vocal cords cut.

There's something in the Salem water......

I find it incredible that someone with such low energy can actually dress herself, let alone do a cinnamon twist.  Maybe because she is a Dimera, she has people to do her hair and dress her, while she languishes on a settee.

Chatty Cathy vocal cords cut, ha ha ha!!!

Maybe Abigail's other personality IS Gabi.

Gabi has way too much personality for Abby to mimic her/think she's her - for the character and the current actress.

That is what I like about the idea. That Will isn't an entirely different person. He is just slightly different, but different enough for it to be a reset.

I do agree with you that New Will should be branching out, outside of Marlena and Paul.

Lucas and Kate have totally been shafted in that aspect. As much as I love the Will/Marlena relationship. The reality is Kate was always the dominant grandparent/ 3rd parent in Will's life.

Will needs to explore Salem and meet new people. He needs to expand his horizons...and go be a young single gay man for a bit.

I always hated that Kate was not a part of Will's coming out.  Will always meant so much to her.  Mophead Will always got her to back down from constantly attacking Sami.

This. Marlena was gone a long time. Will has always had Kate, too. I don't like that Kate was marginalized during his coming out.

Marlena was there from the beginning of Will's life.  She always put him first.  I remember she intervened on Will's behalf, after he was injured in a car crash and had to have brain surgery, as a toddler. Kate was trying to use that to get the upper hand on Sami. Marlena was not having it.  She always loved her grandson, I think she saw him as an opportunity to right the mistakes she made with Sami. The same goes for Kate, who wanted to protect Will from Sami, in a way that she could not protect Austin and Billie from their father Curtis.  I think that fueled Kate's hatred of Sami.

Will's birth was treated as event, due to the fact, that he was Marlena's first grandson.  Will is a JER creation..

Even I was curious about Marlena's delivery yesterday. And I usually just admire the facial spackle.

But you're right about Abigail, who's really getting that "Look into my eyes" stare into place! I wondered if it had something to do with that frock from the House of Usher--is Stefano wiring her the costume choices?

The crack Salem PD must be ON crack, to have Gabi's brother and boyfriend being the lead investigators on her case.

To be fair, the only other option for investigator would be the woman who is carrying Gabi's boyfriend's baby. Or Gabi's ex, but he quit the force and is going to be an EMT now so he's out. I guess some random officer from the background of a scene could take over, but he'd need to be given a name and that's a lot of work and he'd probably end up being related to Gabi or Andre somehow so ... brother and boyfriend it is! And let's not forget that Gabi's brother is the sworn enemy of the murder victim and once had a thing with the murder victim's wife. And that Gabi's boyfriend is related to the murder victim's sister-in-law. Perils of small town livin', I suppose.

Abby has a nice dress on (finally).

So Billie hid a presumably sedated Will and Paul in the mausoleum to help John? Hmmm. Was Billie ever involved in ISA stuff? I don't remember her professional history...or her history with John, for that matter.

If they really try and spend screentime on Stefan/Abby and make them a couple they're going to be shooting themselves in the foot. Zero chemistry.

What prompted Eli to confess to Rafe...?

Gabi and Chad are good as friends.

Claire and Ciara are tiresome as hell. Both of you shut up.

Hope is going to be so pissed to realize how many people at her wedding know her Groom cheated on her (Tripp, Ciara, Eli, Will, Carrie...)

Yeah. Billie was an ISA agent. I don't know if she still is, but she definitely did a stint with them back in the day. As for her history with John, I don't recall much.

Billie, as an ISA agent, never made any sense to me. Wouldn't her past as an addict and her past as a porn star, preclude her from being an agent?

I remember Kim also worked with the ISA with Shane. However, it was never really in an official capacity. It was more as a consultant.  Kim's past was also sketchy like Billie's, so I always assumed that kept her from becoming an agent.

Well considering Billie's past was a result of Curtis hooking her on drugs so he could pimp her into pornography. I think the ISA could make an exception.

Billie went from the Salem PD into the ISA. I'm sure with John, Roman, Shane, and Abe she had a good recommendation.

Silly me was expecting Kate to find Will & Paul.  I certainly wasn't expecting Billie!!!  I also either didn't know about, or didn't remember, Billie being an ISA agent, so her being involved was a bit puzzling.  This storyline must be going to wrap up soon, though, because eventually it'll cross into "Get Smart" territory if something keeps coming up to prevent John from giving Steve the final dose.

I am really liking the pacing and telling of all the current storylines.  Even Ciara & Claire aren't so horrible.

Bit of a stretch though that Eli and Rafe would be confiding their indiscretions to each other. Especially since Rafe is Eli's girlfriend's brother. But it also makes sense that Rafe would be a hypocrite if he blasted Eli for cheating, though to be fair, Rafe and Hope "were on a break". LOL. But I do like that it seems like things happened for a reason, with followup ideas in place.  Not like Dena's big events, with no idea for the "then whats".

I'm avoiding all threads except this one, so sorry if it's already being discussed, but Ron's Days is finally showing a substantial increase in viewers. Hopefully it'll keep up.

January 15-19, 2018:  DAYS 2,531,000 total viewers (+52,000 over previous week, +238,000 over last year) *New high for Ron Carlivati Regime*

I know Billie's past. She was a Sherry creation and the Curtis back story was her story.  The  Billie/Bo love story was JER. I was just wondering how she became an ISA agent. It never made any sense to me. Plus, she was complicit in Hope's kidnapping with Zack by Larry.

I was just thinking about that. I still have issues with how Ron does things, but at least he does things with a thought of what happens next and why. The Sami return created this trouble for Rope, the Theo shooting lead to JJs depression which lead to Lani wanting to make him happy and let him be a father.

I wonder if Abby's "I punched Ben so I'm totally better now!" revelation will play into how Ron writes her "whoops, I killed Andre - guess I'm not!" realization.

Thanks for explaining that Billie was with the ISA. I think it's laughable but as long as it's established history I'll deal.

I wonder if/when we'll see Shane again.

I'm sure you know the past verbatim, I was just giving what I thought was a reasonable explanation to your question as to how Billie could be an ISA agent with her past troubles.

Hope's kidnapping by Larry and an unknowing Billie was also tied to the ISA.  Larry Welch was impersonating an officer and recruited Billie to help him on a mission.  Of course Billie unknowingly didn't know that Hope was the target.

I too was expecting Kate to find Will and Paul tied up somewhere in the mausoleum. Maybe they are resting in some of the spaces. Did not expect Billie.  Kate must have had her at a very young age because they do not look like mother and daughter.

No idea of why Billie and John are working to kill Steve, or whatever the plan is.

Yay, Claire is going on vacation to South Africa! Mom and Dad or someone must be rich because she can't afford a plane ticket. Nice of Theo to send flowers that Ciara will enjoy.

Too bad Eli didn't tell Rafe that he is Lani's baby daddy. Salem cheaters anonymous. What a fun Valentine's Day coming up for Rafe and Eli.

Stefan is probably some sort of red herring in the Andre murder. Gabi's blue nail polish would be what would probably get her off - but the DA could have said that she re-did her nails.

I also remember when Hope confronted her about it, she was very nasty to Hope. Hope had every right to be upset.  Her son was involved and Larry was always a loose cannon.  I never really understood why the show made Billie a vixen. I was never a big fan, but, she was at least sympathetic, when she walked away from Bo with her head held high.. Then, that horrible recast came, the fans used to call her porn star Billie and the rest is history.. Julie Pinson was a good actress, but, she did not seem like Billie either.  She was too perky and happy.  Billie had this sadness to her that always there, bubbling, beneath the surface, even when she was happy. It was almost like she knew something was going to take her joy away.

A good recast has to inhabit the character, even if they look different.  Days usually use their recasts to radically change the character, to fit the actor.. They did that with Will as well, when Guy took over the role.  Drake's Roman was different than Wayne's Roman, but, the essence of who Roman was, a character, was always there.

For better or for worst, Lisa Rinna is Billie. Her best scene for me was when she found out Kate was her mother. She preceded to tell Kate every rotten thing that Curtis ever did to her. Deborah's Kate was shattered upon hearing what Billie went through and that she could not protect her.

If I was curt in my previous post, I apologize..

Well, Lisa Rinna is only 10 years younger than her on-screen mother and Lauren Koslow had a much, much better plastic surgeon. (Seriously, I love that Lisa Rinna made such a big deal about getting her lip implants taken out and then she went right back to them. Then again, her husband is Harry Hamlin and damn he's managed to stay attractive into his 60's per Mad Men.)

Seeing Billie call Kate "mama" makes me all the more annoyed at the show's refusal to have Claire call Hope "Grandma." Seriously, not having her say those words doesn't make Kristian Alfonso any younger or Hope not a grandmother. I love that they say that they're related but not that Ciara is Clarie's aunt. (Although to be fair to them, I have a niece that's only 9 years younger than me and she never calls me Uncle.)

Tripp, you're really cute but god I wish Joey's storyline/casting hadn't been such a blunder. Seeing him at his bedside just reminded me of how much they screwed up Joey and that teen scene in general. The teen scene was slapped together after the JJ/Paige one fizzled out and they somehow made it even worse than the previous one. Things might have been a lot better if they had held off on making that teen scene for another year. I wonder what the guy playing Tripp could have done with Joey, or if Joey was doomed character no matter what.

Sometimes a recast actually improves the character. Casey just had this bro vibe. I feel like Billy's version of Chad actually has more weight to it. It was so weird to watch Chandler's Will meet Marci's Abby and Billy's Chad because he never worked with either of them. It was like spanning different eras of the show right there.

I wasn't there for that but apparently Robert Kelker Kelley made an awesome Bo, and he had amazeballs chemistry with Billie. It's a shame he had to be a creepster in real life. (I really enjoyed his turn on General Hospital back in 2001 as a reanimated Stavros- the guy could chew the scenery with the best of them.)

Oh, I thought I was the only person on the planet who liked RKK's incarnation of Bo.  There must be one or two others out there.

It's amusing to me that Lisa Rinna has been going over her return to DAYS on RHOBH before she showed up on screen here, and none of her scenes on RHOBH were tagged with a Spoiler Alert.

I first started liking RKK when he was Sam Fowler on Another World--Sam and Amanda were one of my favorite soap couples :)  And he was excellent as Bo and the Bo/Carly romance was very well done--it is a shame he's such a psycho in real life.

On today's episode, we got some answers to at least one (slightly) burning question--Eric now knows how his developing relationship with Jennifer got thrown off course.

Ciara's grudge against Claire's keeping her letter from Theo seems massively over the top--Claire admitted to doing it and asked for forgiveness which was given but now Ciara can't ever trust her again?  I hope this storyline gets resolved soon because it's annoying as hell to have them continuously bicker.  I wonder if Theo will break up with Claire off screen?

I really adore the little kid playing Tate--he's rather adorable and I like that he hasn't forgotten his mother.  Don't worry kid, Mommy will be back soon--hopefully :):)  EM and KdP were good with him too which helps make the scenes more natural and family-like.

Ugh, I really don't like Brady like now.

They really should add JJ's secret ingredient to Jen's donuts.

Is Sonny not trying to find out where Will is on Valentine's Day?

Does Tate even remember Theresa?

God, Anna, shut up about Tony!

I like that they still occasionally mention Maggie running Chez Rouge, even if they never show it.

I couldn't see a single thing that was going on in that end scene with Rope.

Jennifer, a darker lipstick will be your friend. The whole neutral or whatever corpse-like look was not very flattering.

What was that rope/necklace thing Rafe gave Hope? Why didn't Sami get it when she married him?

Ciara, you are not some wild type bad girl wannabe that wants a nice dude like Tripp.

Steve and Kayla were sweet.

I hope Eve is just playing Brady.

Nice of Eric to grab the donut.

I really enjoyed the scenes with Tate and Eve and Brady today.  That kid brought out the best in those two.  It's the first time I've liked Brady, even though it was for only a minute, in longer than I can remember.

Damn, Victor is a misogynistic asshole even in his texts.  I hope Eve guts HIM like a fish.

Steve and Kayla, always wonderful.

Hope and Dope do not get better with repeated viewings.

I'm really unhappy that Horton Square is pedestrian-only, since that cuts down on the chances of Ciara being mowed down by a truck.  Or a train.

I'd settle for a piano falling on her head, too.

I did not care for his Bo.  Peter was the only Bo.  Robert and Lisa did have chemistry.  They hated each other in real life. She and Kristian teamed up to get him off the show.  He was the reason that Crystal who played Carly left the show. He sexually harassed her and would touch her inappropriately, during love scenes.  Crystal did not speak up and took it. She finally had enough and asked to be released from her contract. It is why Bo and Carly broke up and Bo moved on to Billie.

Poor Patrick Muldoon, though. Yeesh. He seemed like he was aging decently into his mid-30's, and then he suddenly looked weird as hell when he came back as a 40-something on Days. Bad plastic surgery plus the price of sun-kissed skin? It was definitely the right call to go to Austin Peck. He's dumb as a box of hammers but he's not cringey to look at.

I just realized they never gave Carrie any kids. That feels rare for a legacy soap character who wasn't killed off young and who spent considerable time as a front-burner actress and had several popular pairings.

Oh, wait. Never mind. I double-checked and it looks she had a kid with Austin in her farewell storyline back in 2012. That was 6 years ago, which means her son with Austin should be due to come back from a stint in boarding school as a 16-year old troublemaker any day now.

Quote

I must be getting soft in my old age, as I'm really enjoying the show these days.  Even Claire and Tripp.  Tripp has way more chemistry with both Claire & Ciara than Theo ever did. Or maybe the writing for the teens as improved. Though Tripp is in his 20's, right. They seem to have de-aged him, as he seems more like Ciara & Claire's peers now.

Tripp is getting the Melanie treatment, who seemed to go up and down in age (and back up) as the storyline needed it. Tripp really should be peers with JJ, but it feels like JJ slightly aged up, while it seems like Tripp is either being de-aged or they're keeping his age in a holding pattern. They did show him drinking at a bar and he was referred to as being 21, while Ciara and Claire should be about 19, so it's not that much of a gap. Have we seen Tripp drink in a bar recently? If he has then he's still 21 but he's probably just gone age-vague.

A really good example of an age holding pattern was Abigail, who was SORASED to 16 in 2004, making her older than her real 1992 birth year age, but then she went off to Spain or whatever and came back still college age. By that time, Will (who has probably been the least SORASED character with only 3 years added to his real age) was also in college now and they were peers like they always should have been.

I'm assuming that Abigail's retcon birthdate is still 1988 but they're definitely playing her and Will as being in the same age group even though his retcon birthdate is 1992.  Chad, Abigail, Will, Sonny, and Gabby seem to be one solid age cohort on the show, with JJ as being the slightly younger just outside of that group, and Lani and Paul just a little bit older.

And let us not forget the whole dating Miriam Parrish (who played Sami's friend, Jamie) when Parrish was  still a minor. Causing Alison Sweeney's parents to keep her off set until something was done, IIRC.

(RKK and Parrish did marry when she came of age. Last I read somewhere, though, they have long since divorced and Parrish remarried.)

I remember getting that HIRED! FIRED! SOD issue in '95 with PR/RKK on the cover and I recall more dirt spilled in that RKK's picture was at security gates and he was escorted in as he got his things, etc. It definitely was not an amicable firing. But then, a part of me thinks Days should have known since his little exploits during his first Another World stint (as he was rehired there as another character post Days firing) were well known.

Insomnia has me up, so I'll answer before I go back to bed!

Actually, Sandra Ferguson, from what I recall reading, begged for her character, Amanda Cory, to cheat on her husband, Sam Fowler (RKK), because they did not get along. And that is what spawned Amanda/Evan with Charles Grant. (Rumors - and I stress that as I only read this and have no idea if it is true - have it that he actually threw a chair at Sandra at one point. Hence, exploits I alluded to.)

As for what RKK is now up to, I recall reading something to do with work as an airplane mechanic...

ETA: Oops. This is the current episode thread, I see. If anyone wants to continue this, maybe we should take it to the history thread.)

I first started liking RKK when he was Sam Fowler on Another World--Sam and Amanda were one of my favorite soap couples :)  And he was excellent as Bo and the Bo/Carly romance was very well done--it is a shame he's such a psycho in real life.

Peter's Bo had excellent chemistry with Carly as well. Their wedding in Mexico on top of that pyramid was beautiful.  As a Bope fan, I loved Bo/Carly as well.  I loved their dynamic.. Bo constantly  pushed her away and she never gave up on him...The ghost of Hope was also a part of their bond. It would have been interesting to see Hope coming back from the dead, with Peter playing Bo and Carly as his wife.  It is too bad, backstage shenanigans ruined the Bo/Carly romance. I do think that Bo/Carly were endgame and that they were going to overcome Vivian and Lawrence.

Not Catholic, not particularly religious. Thought they were a bit smaller.

I don't blame anyone for nodding off during Rope scenes, but Hope did ask Rafe if it was a rosary and he said it was a Mexican lasso. I found this that explains more about the tradition if anyone is curious.

As much as I don't care for Rope, that was a lovely gift from one Catholic to another and a symbol of faith and love.

Did Hope convert? I thought the Williams/Hortons were a more generically Protestant clan. Ciara mentioned lighting a candle for Theo which I believe is a more Catholic than Protestant thing (sorry, non-religious person here) so they probably raised their kids as Catholic regardless of Hope's religion or lack thereof. The only person I remember ever being super-duper religious was Caroline. Everyone else just kind of "goes to the chapel" when a loved one is at death's door.

Anyway, it was a nice gift, but funny the way Hope kind of side-eyed it when she first took it out of the box. Not what she was expecting, lol. Also, I was confused by why she had to drag Rafe off to the bushes to give him her "gift" which turned out to be approval for his vacation (??) and why she was acting so giggly and weird about it.

All in all, a pretty boring episode. Glad the obligatory Valentine's day stuff is over and we can all move on to the actual stories again.

Man oh man, but is Julie obnoxious!  Yes, we get it, you'll never forgive Gabi for killing her Nicky, that sweet, adorably homophobic, dangerously psychotic scamp or that Gabi got out on a technicality after only spending a year in jail, but to sit there and gloat, knowing that a little girl might lose her mother is pretty sick.  And once again, it's not as if Gabi walks around Horton Square laughing about how she killed Nick--she is genuinely guilt-ridden and has improved her life since getting sprung--she is a productive member of society.  I do truly hope our theories are right and that Abby killed Andre--the look on Julie's face will be epic.

I think Show should introduce a weekly segment where Julie gets a pie in face from random characters, unexpectedly, but in the middle of one of her harangues.  Lemon meringue, custard, I don't care.  Or a bucket of water over her head, that'll work too.

She's such a dear woman.

The whole Eric interrupting Jennifer's date was just obnoxious!  Was I supposed to think it was romantic that he loudly interrupted & grabbed the donut as his own?  I did not find it romantic at all, I was with Jennifer who was shocked & then asked him to leave.   Dr. Henry is a bland character but at least he was man enough to be polite about & to realize how Jennifer really felt, so he picked up his coat & left. And Julie being her usual 'butt-in-ski" self, has to lecture Eli & Jennifer, sheesh.

Nobody got Alice's ring before JJ?

Oh, shut it, Julie.

Oh, shut it, Trask.

One would think that the harassment in public of a suspect by the DA would be grounds for an ethics complaint.

"Nothing is ever Abigail's fault."  FINALLY somebody calls out Miss Perfect.

I appreciate Eric's priorities.  "I'm taking the last donut."

If you're willing to yell at a suspect in public, Trask, you're already discussing the case in public.

Too bad Eric couldn't have found another woman for Jennifer to walk in on him with.

It's February, Abigail, you're going to take Thomas to the park in a swim suit?

So, Carrie came and left, her last day, was on February 12, never having had scenes with John, Marlena, Billie, Kate,Eric, Kayla, Steve, Brady and Will. Yet, she had scenes with Rafe, who is insignificant, in her past.   This is why I dislike Ron, he focuses on history that fits his agenda. Carrie has a rich history on the show and her short return should have highlighted that, via her relationships, on the show. What a waste!
