Bannana - I thought the burning question of the day would be what was up with that music? It sounded like some TV mystery movie music vice standard soap music.

Overall, while I thought today was good it was very dark - I kept thinking "where's the joy? Where's the romance?"

That red and green light was bugging me too.

Reason 3454422 why soaps are different from real life: I don't know a single person who would want to bug my house but JJ throws out Clyde's name as the bugger and Jennifer immediately thinks of another possible culprit.

I was a little surprised that when Ben told Abigail they weren't moving that she didn't immediately show up at Chad's hideaway. There's always tomorrow.

If the Dimeras are always escaping from the docks, maybe the docks should be closed.  :)

I assumed the flashing lights were police cars since we're supposed to think the entire SPD is looking for Chad. And Rafe did just drop by.  I guess you could say KM did an ok job if she can lie so easily but that's not different than any other day.

 

I'm really sorry Steve sent Joe home.  It's the right thing to do but how great would that have been?

 

The murder scenes were tough to watch until I got distracted by Paige's expensive shoes. Ben Doll's memory loss makes no sense. 

 

Cheeses Hope, ask more questions!  I've liked her so much better without Bo.  I expect we'll have to watch Aiden's duplicity into Nov.  But yes, rescue Bo already.

 

As was already mentioned, I thought they knew there was a bug long ago.  But to hold it in your hand and continue talking?  Sigh I liked their scene a lot.

 

ETA Stefono paid the debt and summoned Aiden probably to do some dirty work for him probably having to do with Bo.

I've always had issues with the fact that Kate didn't recognize the red flags about Clyde having living through Curtis herself. This always seems like a major writing flaw, another case of the writers not being true to the character or the history.

I am SO glad Kate is out of that Creepo's orbit. The writers were really messing her up by having him involved with her.

You know - as much as I'm annoyed by what's happening with Aiden and some of the other characters right now, I think about what could have been and am grateful they switched things up.

Were the scenes darker than usual today?  I watched on a different tv, so wasn't sure if it was the tv or the show.

 

Really not liking what they are doing to Aiden.  He was desperate when he stole Stefano's cheque, but there was no excuse for keeping Hope's money. Then again, I suppose he can't really give it back to her and say "someone paid off my debt for me".

 

I don't usually like Abigail, but today, for some reason, I liked her wearing the silly hat and disguise.

 

Really not enjoying the Bo torture scenes.   Or the murder scenes.

The Chad and Abigail scenes with the disguises seemed like a bit of a retread of EJ and Sami's storyline when everyone thought he had murdered somebody and she was trying to help him prove that he hadn't. 

 

If Ben is the serial killer, I'm annoyed. Not because it wouldn't make sense or anything like that (maybe it kind of does given his back-story), but because it seems like an attempt to make Abigail seem justified in her cheating and less mock-able (but unfortunately I still want to mock her because it's simply that easy).

Britta was a love interest of Steve AND Bo. It's a whole thing... it's part of the merchant marines thing and the reason Steve's missing an eye (Bo and his knife) and, for the life of me, I still cannot figure out why these two dude fought over someone as anemic and blah as she.

 

Bo moved the hell on and, eventually, so did Steve. So at least they realized the mistake and rectified it. It's actually kind of a nice bit where Steve finally realizes that Britta pretty much sucks and tells her so (and threatens to kill her a few times because, you know, he was a bad boy and that how he rolled back in the day.)

This is why I never got on board with the show's initial attempt to make Britta and Steve a couple. Not only was the actress blah, her blahness was made all the more obvious by pairing her with SN. I remember hating her return and hoping we could just be rid of her, especially with the potential awesome that was Steve and Kayla.

Even if Britta managed to be the least bit interesting, I never thought her "love" for Steve was healthy. She wanted someone she could manipulate, someone who felt like she was the best he could do. This was never clearer than when she showed her true self when realizing she was losing Steve to Kayla. Telling someone you profess to love how loathsome and unworthy he is and how "someone like Kayla could never love someone like him" was horrid. She didn't say it out of hurt because she came back to town to use Steve, she said it because it was hateful and she knew that Steve had a horribly low opinion of himself.

As for today:

Too much mumble-mouthed, plastic face, fauxman.

Too much Pennywise (but I knew that was coming -- I see much ff ahead).

Too much Aiden now preying upon Hope.

Where the hell are my Stefano and Andre, seeing their interactions after over thirty years as father and son, like the kiss on the forehead was pure gold.

I hope they don't drag out Steve finding Bo. Although, I suspect we re going to get Steve and Bo crashing Hope's wedding. That's why we got Kayla rather than Jenn as MoH, so we can get the screenshot of H & K as B & S burst in. That's going to be future flashback heaven.

I personally hope they have one location shot for Steve and Bo either racing out of a facility to a helicopter or something...Steve walking into the 4X4 cell set was a reminder that this show's budget doesn't allow for hallways...

 

He does seem to be piecing things together relatively quickly, though. I imagine by the end of next week we'll see Bo safe and sound-ish.

I really like that bunny pic of the hard side part Mohawk. I gave a dog that style Sunday and felt pretty cool. Speaking of hard unexpected turns I'm not crazy about how they've taken the Aiden character. It's a bit abrupt.

I've always wondered if plastic mannequin bland Ben was nutso especially with his casual violence and adoration of a sociopath gf and being fine with his morally repugnant father; so I'm not shocked he's a psychotic killa. However this reveal isn't ShOcKInG!OmG the way the Poweres at helm described. Because this basic douch isn't that relevant and revered to the canvas. Hence, I suspect the real threat has yet to reveal his/or herself.

Also I think DID is a cop out for Ben's killer ways. Duhviously he might be a victim of his child molester father or had been a witness to him raping half sister which made him split or go bananas about women. This is how they may explain in it when he falls. I think its a cop out only because its predictable. During Ben's rampage/downfall a copycat or even more grotesque villain will start their spree. JMHO. Like always : )

Both worked on One Life to live..Higley gave Jessica a legacy child that grew up on the show DID by giving her a retcon abused childhood. Higley was proud of her work. despite the backlash  by the fans, by calling what she did to Jessica, "the unpalatable". I despise that woman. Soaps are dying because they recycle fired writers from other shows. We need new blood to keep  the genre going.  Ben knows what he is doing because he was listening to Rafe and Abigail talk...I also think that he has a partner in crime...

The lights outside the window were meant to make their neighborhood look gritty, but as soon as you consider the shape of the hallway outside their door, the placement of the window makes no sense.

I think it was a bit lame for it to take Chad five episodes to figure out he fought with a day player mugger... two episodes should have sufficed.

I accept that it was Stefano who paid Aiden's loan, but the way Hope was acting, for awhile, I thought she might have used the cop side of her brain, quickly figured out who he owed the money to, paid it via wire transfer*, and was testing Aiden to see if he'd keep the money. I don't think the timeline works (does it ever?), but for a few seconds, I thought I could be proud of Hope for not getting played.

Steve got to the Yucatan in record time, right? But I'll give the show that because I'm really enjoying the pacing far better than i used to. Lucky for him he had service in the dungeon, too -- I spent the weekend in Provincetown, MA and couldn't scare up a connection to save my life. 

 

And yes, those torture scenes were disturbing, with Bo in the Dr. Lecter mask from Silence of the Lambs. I also hope we don't have to watch much more of that. Peter Reckell must be dying to do more than grunt and writhe around in pain. 

 

Jenn and JJ did good work yesterday, too. How long are we waiting for Clyde to get what's comin' anyway? (off to the spoiler thread...)

I really hope they move this along. I feel like this Bo thing is moving at a snail's pace and is wasting the limited time that PR is probably back. A double could have done most of what we've seen.  It's been like 3 weeks since his official return and he's not uttered more than a few lines or interacted with anyone beyond his kidnapper thugs. They better really pull of some gold scenes with him and Steve to make this all worth it.

The point?  Well, life? 

 

She's told Lucas about it but not Justin.  Lucas made her feel better and I've had a crush on him for years, but with a better haircut. I'd think you'd like it that Justin is feeling the Eve. 

 

It gives her more interaction with the family and who knew Steve's mother was still alive?  Another reason for Steve to come back.

That entire suit of Nicole's is really weird.  The slits up the sides were so high, she had to pull it down when she stood up so as to avoid flashing her underwear.

 

There has been quite a change in Eve's wardrobe since Paige's murder.

 

Theresa: "I wasn't shouting."  Hee. Theresa needs to put her foot down with Kate and Nicole.  Isn't she a partner? And Brady needs to stfu about Theresa just taking it because she's a newbie.

I honestly have no interest in anything Adrienne's character is involved with. I've never liked her. At the very least she bores me, and when she turns all hypocritical she irritates me.  The topic feels like it came out of the blue. I didn't even know Jo is still alive--I totally thought she was dead and even Kayla acted like she hadn't seen her in a long time. I feel like it's operating more like a PSA for October's breast cancer awareness month than anything else. Maybe if it would have been woven in a a little better--like Jo was actually on screen and we saw that evolve with Adrienne being her support person.  Don't get me wrong, as the daughter of a mother who's had a type of female cancer, I understand how it changes your outlook and makes you consider your own risks. I just feel like it's being paced strange and probably only serving to fuel the love triangle of Justin/Adriene/Lucas.

I don't understand why the show can't find a good woman for Lucas either.  I can't get past the age difference with Adrienne so I'm not on board with that one at all. And I always liked him as Sami's friend better than her lover, but I feel like there has to be someone out there for Lucas that he'd be great with.  I'd kinda be curious to see if he has any chemistry with Theresa. I think she and Brady have chem but the writers keep making him act like a jerk so maybe it's time for Theresa to move on.  Today I wished that Sami was still around to take Theresa under her wing and show her the ropes of dealing with Nicole and Kate.

I agree, Jo should have been on the show to help Adrienne with her cancer scare..Plus, she could have reconnected with Jennifer, JJ, Abifail,  Joe, Justin, Will, Arianna, Sonny, Justin, Steve and Kayla..We could have had the Johnson family reunion with lots of references to Jack..They could have even brought back Adrienne's other boys to Salem for this crisis....

The pink power suit made me giggle when Nicole had a wardrobe malfunction. I can see AZ cracking up at the end of the scene.  I hoped the scrapping with Kate would lead to the two of them being  good at business together and I wasn't disappointed.  Theresa does need to learn to start from the beginning, everything Kate said was right.   And it gives Brady a chance to mentor her too and it looks like he wants to. I would have kissed him too.  What a day Jeannie T had with Eve and the dress.

They also blew the romance between Julie's son, David and Valerie. Days tries an interracial couple every decade and a half, could have been decade but they wouldn't even try Kayla and Marcus, and they intentially fail because it is clear they have no interest in/do not support such things; because we know they have no problem having damn near every woman on the show be a victim of physical and/or sexual abuse. They also champion women "falling in love with" and marrying their rapists. And two of Salem's longest-standing citizens are murdering crime lords.

Best part of the episode was Nicole and Kate shutting Theresa down with her "I'm the designer" talk. You have never worked for or proven yourself capable of anything other than lies, schemes and attempted murder. They brought the money and a business background. You bring your sense of entitlement.

I no longer believe that Justin and Adrienne work as a couple. If the show intends to make them endgame, please find someone who loves, wants and plans to, be with Lucas. As for the age difference, I wish people would feel as strongly about age differences when it comes to men being older than the women because those couplings are problematic on so many levels IMO.

KDP continues to shine. All her angst over Paige just serves to prove that no attempt was made to integrate Serena into the show as her funeral was a throwaway conversation. FYI Justin, your arranging a date with Eve as you claim to be working towards a relationship with Adrienne makes you look smarmy, but then I remember that you were cheating on your wife and felt she should have no issues with your behavior.

Abe's questioning of Lani just sets the stage for her being his unknown about child. He feels like they met because she reminds him of her mother. I remember Abe dating Marilyn MaCoo's character, a female cop and a woman played by Renee Jones prior to her becoming Lexie (was she the recast of that cop?). If Days wanted to surprise us, have a real conversation about racial perceptions by having it revealed that the other high-ranking Salem cop at the time, Roman, is her dad, and Lani just assumed Abe was her dad based the background given and complexion. It would bring irony to the moment when both men's pictures were looked at. But, this is Days and they won't remember the gold-mine the Lexie/Stefano connection proved to be.

I would like to see Lani chem tested against Brady, Eric, Lucas, Chad and Rafe, not just shoved into a coupling for the sake of it. Oh wait, their is no age appropriate black, male or female as the case may be, for her to be paired with cause again, Days.

Brandon and Sami weren't bad. Hell I liked them. I was in high school then and remember they had some raunchy sex scenes and Ali Sweeney used her real life 3 stone eternity engagement ring as her "ring from Brandon".

About today's stories lol I don't see why a woman like Lani wouldn't go for Lucas. He is cute, quippy, has a professional work ethic.

I don't like Adrienne and agree they writers are trying to soften her and make her more rootable. JMHO.

The thing about Adrienne is that they made her a real bitch being against Will and the Wilson romance...It was totally unnecessary and out of character..Adrienne was always a great heroine back in the day when she was going against Victor, Angelica, her struggle with conceiving a child, and her abusive past with her father Duke..I loved her spunkiness and her determination to reunite the Johnson family...Her disapproval of the Wilson romance was always contrived and did nothing to endear her to the viewers who did not know her as she was originally conceived by the show..I am really pissed that the new writers have not given us some Steve/Adrienne scenes. Adrienne was always at her best with her brothers....

KdP was awesome again today.  Eve's grief is so real and raw, and you can tell she's playing everything from the last few months over and over again in her head.  Her bits of recollection about Paige being there when Eve cried over Eddie, and telling her, "You have me," have given more insight into Paige's rage as well.  Paige was there to pick up her mom's pieces and be her rock, only to have her mom betray her in the worst way possible when Paige started to put herself and her wants first.  Eve truly is messed up.  Still, she could have been salvaged.  I'll never agree with the new regime's decision to let go of KdP and Daniel Cosgrove.

 

At least there is Teresa, Nicole and Kate.  I'm really looking forward to their story and think it's great that Kate and Nicole aren't just going to hand over design control to Teresa and instead are going to give her every opportunity to learn from people with more experience.  Kate's necklace and Nicole's suit were both fugly, but damn is Lauren Koslow a beautiful woman.  I can't even believe she's 62.

 

Anyway, Lucas definitely needs a new love interest.  BD is too good to just sit around waiting to be the sounding board for other characters.  I could see him with the new woman (Lani?).
